(given sanctuary anon back again) ((though ive just started "come live with me" too (ITS GREAT!! i dont trust whatever desire is up to AT ALL!) so what does that make me?? dual wielding anon?)) Anyhow i just read the GS new chapter! have i mentioned in any of these asks that "abandonment issues" is like my ultimate kryptonite?? and 1689 hob is in such a vulnerable spot for it too!!! like take any other time stamp (even post 1889) and hob WOULD find it in him to stand up and keep moving (even though it fucking hurts) but 1689 really is when he's low enough to straight up get on his knees and cry and beg and hhhhhhh. like on one hand "my poor boy" on the other "Oh delicious scene, high stakes emotions!" Its so good!

Also about your last reply, i dont think dream is changing too fast at all. Youve written this like he's just had a sudden realization that he's been (just a lil) shitty and now he's noticing the signs all over (lucienne flinching just breaks my heart) and has made a decision to change. But like you said, right now he hasnt actually fundamentally changed (yet)! We went over this in my psych class once (i dont thinks asks have a word limit anymore but ill still spare you the full rant) but essentially theres a big distinction between consciously MAKING yourself change your behavior, and actually having the change settle in to be natural and thoughtless. And its so clear in your fic that being kind is still such a stilted thing for dream and that he constantly has to fight for it and i love that!

1 ) Oof, yeah, Hob is definitely at a low enough place, without pride, to beg. That being said, there is an added terror to the moment for Hob in 1689 because unlike every other time Dream has taken off on him, Hob's not in London. He's on the other side of Europe, on a Greek island which is, admittedly, gorgeous but he has no money and (hasn't been mentioned yet but it's in my head) he speaks some sailor pidgin/lingua franca which includes Greek and Italian elements but he absolutely would only have the shirt on his back if Dream left him there for any substantial amount of time.

Hob has no way of making the expensive voyage back to England (Naxos is currently controlled by the Venetians in 1689) and no easy way to make a living or even communicate with most people in Naxos. As someone who has so recently like, earlier that week experienced the depths of privation and starvation, and was only just begun to get his feet back under him and maybe, maybe have a glimmer of near-term (as opposed to only long term) hope that things will get better for him, there are some very real, very practical reasons like starving again why Hob is ready to drop to his knees and hysterically beg Dream not to make some grand dramatic gesture like storm off in a huff on him for however long is appropriate for a literally ageless being to get his temper under control again. And Hob's not wrong to fear that it could be days or longer before Dream decides he should maybe go retrieve Hob from wherever he left him.

Just... yeah, Hob is absolutely melting down because he loves Dream and he has PTSD around being abandoned by Dream and having no one else in his life who really, truly knows him for who he is ever since 1389, and truly no one else who gives a shit about him in decades but Giving Sanctuary is fairly grounded in class and wealth concerns on Hob's end, at least I'm constantly thinking about those things when writing Hob's POV and constantly thinking about how Dream doesn't understand those things when writing their interactions.

Being abandoned without a cent to his name in a strange place was neck and neck with "pissing off and losing the person I love because of my big stupid mouth" in Hob's brain as a legitimate reason to have a full blown panic attack while running after Dream.

2 ) I'm really glad to hear you don't find Dream too unrealistic in his growth! Your psych class comment is a very astute observation and definitely something that's in my mind while Dream has begun to thaw out and grow, he still has bad habits he has to consciously break and doesn't always succeed, especially when miserable and on edge on the island where he had to retrieve his own son's dismembered body with his bare hands and bury it, only to be blamed by his ex wife and the mother of his child as the reason this horrific event happened in the first place. This is really the heart of darkness for Dream, the root of his depression began on this island. But he is working on being better, at least to the people who matter most to him.

As much as I want to lie and say “YuP! ٩( ᐛ )و iT’s aLL plaNNEd! HaHahAHA yume’s sUcH bIG bRAIn!” but nope lol I didn’t write both fics with them having the same universe in mind, I never even intended for these two to have the same universe lol but now that I thought about it, I’m considering. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

It is indeed very spicy and delicious to think of Malleus bringing home his Brainwashed Darling and meeting Lilia’s Adopted Darling~! Both men would be pleased since their Darlings have each other’s company now and they wouldn’t be as lonely as they were before~! It’s cute, friendship would definitely be formed between these two Darlings! Being victims of the two fae’s breeding kink and all...

A-Darling might feel a little envious of B-Darling’s situation at first.

Unlike her, who is timid because she had never interacted with another human before, B-Darling is a lot more relaxed, comforting like that of a big sister. She also seems to be really happy with her relationship with Malleus, which A-Darling could only dream of feeling the same way in her own personal relationship with Lilia. She wished that she could be so much more accepting, she was once a young hirl who dreamt of romance after all. But to think that the prince she was looking for would be her own fath- no—would be Lilia, it’s just really difficult to take in. Especially when she’s basically being forced to take this relationship with a grain of salt.

Yeah, B-Darling is probably everything that A-Darling wanted to be, kind but strong. She’ll be envious of that sweet, romantic relationship she has with Malleus and will probably be their biggest supporter. As expected of the Prince of Fae, picking a human girl who is clearly ready and is the perfect fit to become the queen who will stand alongside with him. A-Darling would probably squeal at some point of how adorable the contrast is as a way to distract herself from her own situation.

...However, looking close at B-Darling’s appearance, A-Darling does have to take notice of those little bruises and bite marks she had on her arms, neck, and legs. She was familiar with them since it was awfully similar to the ones that Lilia often inflicts on her. But what A-Darling had were forced marks, something that she was unwilling to have and further observation suggests that somehow...B-Darling’s marks tells the same story. It was as if she even fought Malleus during all of it, since some marks closely resembles a scar, like sharp teeth grazing them as they were still dug inside.

The thought makes A-Darling shiver, that doesn’t sound like a likely story at all. B-Darling is always smiling, if you ignore all those injuries, not a trace of abuse can be seen in her expressions at all. She was probably the most honest and cheerful person she ever met, well— the only other human she ever met but still! Those bruises might’ve been from something else, Malleus-sama is not a violent person...At least from that’s what A-Darling observed during all those years, this was the same person who roleplayed as a dragon during her childhood years!

A-Darling had almost convinced herself that B-Darling was having the time of her life being pampered to death by Malleus. She refrained herself from asking about the bruises to the other human, since it really might’ve just been really, really savage love bites. A-Darling would’ve ignored everything else and stay a stranger to the truth...Until she took another look at B-Darling’s eyes.

...It looked dead.

It was still as beautiful as the first time seeing them, but it was a devoid of life, as if the very essence of her soul wasn’t in there at all. Just when A-Darling had almost convinced herself that she was fine too, that B-Darling aren’t as ruined when compare to her but she was stand corrected. It’s just like what Lilia taught her from long ago— “Looks could be deceiving” B-Darling’s smiles are not as real as she thought them to be after all.

This lead A-Darling to want to gain more information just by spiking up a conversation with her and soon led her to notice one peculiar thing. For one, B-Darling was utterly forgetful, being able to forget specific details on what happened during her first date with Malleus and even the reason why she fell in love with him in the first place. That’s definitely something no ordinary people could just forget about. No matter how weak your mind may be, something as important as that could not just be erased that easily. It’s very, very weird to think about and honestly had A-Darling deeply concerned.

“Oh, Sweetheart...I know you’re happy that you have a friend to spend time with now, but asking her too much personal questions might just stress her out.”

...But before A-Darling could even come as close to the truth, Lilia slipped out of her mind in that moment, only to haunt her back in the most crucial of times. Of course, his presence still had her freezing like a deer in the headlights, she can’t even talk when he’s around. Forcing herself to do so just results terrifying flashbacks from when she tried to defy him once.

His ever so mocking boyish chuckles, Lilia had already caught A-Darling back in his grasp. “Come on now...You and I have something else to do, don’t we~?”

Whisking her away, B-Darling was left in her own accordance with just an awkward goodbye from her friend and the elder fae. Although Malleus had told her about A-Darling’s relationship with Lilia, she couldn’t help but notice how quiet and scared she gets when the fae is at by her side. Maybe she was just nervous, A-Darling’s history does tell her that it was her first relationship and she was isolated from the world for many years. The poor girl must be wondering how to function in a relation and that may be the reason why B-Darling suddenly feels so protective of her.

...But somehow, B-Darling was sympathizing with A-Darlinh, like she already knew why she’s so scared to be held against the arms of a powerful fae, never to be released again. It was as if he body was speaking out for her, desperately telling her how familiar A-Darling’s situation should be for her...All because of the distant feeling of experience that she had walked in the same shoes before.

But no—This was just a feeling, right? B-Darling shouldn’t really doubt her relationship with Malleus, her memory tells her how much of a sweetheart he has been! He had never forced her to do anything she didn’t like and had never been scared of him, so what gives...? What is this overwhelming doubt and fear wrapping around her chest, like something had torn a piece of her heart away?

“...How did you fall in love with Malleus-sama?”

That question A-Darling asked a few moments ago, why did it leave B-Darling’s mind blank? She knew it was a question that she was excited about in their little Girls’ Talk and yet...Her mouth was not able to let out any words. How did she fell in love with Malleus? It was a mystery, she should’ve been able to answer it so easily but why...?

All these speculation had successfully made B-Darling’s head ache, her heart was beats faster and her mind swirled in anguish. The worst of all is the fact that she doesn’t even know why this is all happening. A-Darling’s questions really made her realize how unusually empty her head is, all the memories that she could remember suddenly felt so artificial. Just what was going on here?

...Maybe when Malleus comes back, she’ll ask him about it and maybe he can help.

hi ty for the ask! i'm going to ohhh whta's the word. preface?? yeah i think so. preface this by saying generally aus… not all that much for me! i'm a very strict canon person and aus usually make things a lil ooc bc of the difference in settings and therefore experiences. i don't mind them though ^_^ putting this under a cut bc i rambled a lot akdkjs:

humans are space orcs: hmm can be done well i think but it's not something i search out. middle between a B and a C i think. but something i do like is "ppl reacting to (whatevs)" and this kinda gives me that sometimes !! plus i like sci-fi and aliens and def robots ^_^ (although robots don't show up as much in this particular sci-fi brand) okay it's looking more like a B than a C but i still think it's like… could either be good or meh depending on the writer

foster: again not really something i search out? i like found family but and i think i prefer "adoption" more through that concept (like… "oh we're family now") more than anything legal like foster system. but i don't mind it. i feel like they're usually pretty heavy though? might just be the ones i've seen though. but yeah lots of mental illness and whatevs so have to be in the right mindset. putting this at a C

vampire: i think any vampire au is extremely funny no matter how seriously it's taken. but not in a mean way i just think vampires are funny. wouldn't search it out and a lot of the ones i've seen recently are kinda eehhh this is a bit much for me ^_^ so putting it at a C

Modern: dsmp eehh can either be good or bad. scares me a bit bc some of them are like… whoa this feels a lil too close to just like… disguised irl fic (probably not that bad tbh i'm just kinda sensitive to it ig. i don't want to interact with irl fics At All) but some of them are really good! there are a couple i enjoy a lot atm i forgot the ranking system. B i think? wait! other than dsmp i do like modern aus they're just most likely to be ooc for me -_- it can be good but ppl have to transfer over as much as they can. does this mean a C now? idk

Apocalypse: oof. only if there's a happy ending</3 plus i'm not a big fan of like… slogging through angst like this. idk. actually i'm probably okay with them but a lot are about zombies and i hate zombies!! they scare me. so i don't like reading about them either. but apocalypse au can set up a really interesting world to play around with depending on what happened to cause the apolocalypse and i like that. putting this at B

Superhero: controversial but putting this at B and C simultaenously. I like them!! but only sometimes. but it still fits B better. crack fics are kinda fun bc they're easy to read but the thing about dsmp specifically is that most i've seen are centred on tommy with sbi excluding tubbo and like… ah i'm not reading that sorry. it might be well-written idk but i'm a tubbo main and also anything sbi that doesn't have tubbo is strange to me (personal reasons, it was first introduced to me WITH tubbo in dsmp canon so whenever i see content without him included i'm like?? huh??? but i get that other ppl prob saw the ccs first)

that being said! some superhero aus are really good and i enjoy them! i'm a big fan of superhero genre (as a concept… most big screen/tv shows don't execute it all that well lol) and i think some of the misunderstandings from it can be funny! (when not drawn out and used for needless angst -_-) idk where i'm going with this…

Ah yes New Years fic is definitely a classic. I remember this was the one i read through thouroughly first time. I was able to remember once i read the first sentence of each one.

The host/marvin/iplier/jackie one was always my personal favorite. I love how they're all goofy like real couples. The villianous trait between marvin and jackie you can tell they do regularly (i mean when your hubby is a hero how can you not?). Meanwhile dr. Iplier and Host are the "grown-ups" and iplier is giving him puppy eyes, all the while host trying not to laugh is so cute. I mean when you see someone make a face when you're trying to be serious is incredibly hard! Not to mention the tickling at the same time trope i adore cause it's just all fun.

And then giving love to robbie is just so wholesome. I love how you're able to show the reader different types of love. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a valentine's day fic, but instead of romance it's the other kinds like familial, platonic, and self love. It was a nice lesson for robbie that you can't run out of love and then him getting tickles and attention cause he's a cute lil bab! And iplier being slightly envious everyone can fall asleep, tis the curse of the doctor.

Personally the angel stories are the least memorial for me. Not that that'a a bad thing, you write them well but since i personally don't have a connection to the characters makes it hard to remember. Meanwhile someone else might be able to rewrite it word for word! Tis a curse for the lesser known egos. I love how you try to include everyone (*cough* except Silver and Ed and King of the Squirrels *cough* (no but in all seriousness I understand, i remember in an ask you said before you just didn't know how to write them, that is until more people took the roles of them and gave them their own personalities especially back then, i just wanted to poke fun))

I believe the googles were next along with crank/blank. Again i love the brotherly bond of the googles. I love how spoiled oli acts woth blank as they watch his brothers before quickly getting their medicine. Green and Red teasing his brother the best way they know how while bkue handles blank himself, not wanting to overwhelm him since Oli can definitely take two androids. I love how their babied and tickled and teased to no end to their limits. Again like i mentioned with eric, brothers just like to roughhouse until someone calls uncle, and good brothers check in afterwards to make sure they're alright. For someone who doesn't have siblings, you write them well. I also like how you refrain from the "hello big brother" trope. Never in my life have i ever called my brother by "brother". They're basically a person you're forced to live with XD

Oh geez, i think it was bing and the jims next. I always love the trope of "you eat it, now you pay" and how the jims just went rabid on Bing for having a snack that he didn't even need! It's hilarious all and all and I think that was the debut of the jim twins in your writing. And what a wonderful debut it was (unless it wasn't then-). I love their synchronicity, not to mention bing being a goofball.

Ah and walter and Yandere were next. I remember this one well since I know this was Yandere's debut. I'm so glad they're getting more attention now but back then getting an ego story you rarely see was a treat (look i was still too shy to ask let alone request anything cause i looked up to you and i still do). I love Walter and Yan's relationship, whether it was intended to be romantic or platonic. I still think there are times Yandere hangs out with Walter when they're away since yes the egos may understand them now, but walter is the one who truly understands. I can see yandere venting on their plans for their senpai, maybe venting to him when they had two senpais depending on the universe. Maybe mentioning how they wanna make their senpai happy and loved. Ah I'm getting carried away. You know what i also love on the same level of seeing a fic of a rare character? Seeing them tickled! Yes nowadays Yandere is a ler but i always love lers getting their medicine! I'd love to see yandere more on either sides whether the ler or the lee along with other egos. And not to mention walter, nowadays he's somewhat forgotten. Honestly I forgot until I remembered your christmas fic with him. So that's why I'd love to see him back! Maybe more brotherly bonding with Wilf. Or maybe he and wilf prank dark by looking exactly alike and dark having to guess who is who!

Lets see, the four, robbie, the angels, googles, bing and the jims, yandere and walt, i think the next one was Bim and Wilf. Sorry if i miss any, i didn't think about writing on notes and then copy and pasting it all here and i can't copy all my paragraphs here since it only will make me copy one paragraph and i do NOT want to lose all this!

Anyways bim and wilf. Sometimes we forget they bim has a super busy life, maybe more than dark. Hyperfixation definitely gets the better half of me and this ties back to weaknesses. Wilf trying to get bim out and wilf getting upset until bim realizes what he's doing an apologizes. Again you're only done and you want to get it done but turns out you're still working hours later but you're so close! I do love how bim regains a playful spirit and tickles Wilf playfully, definitely getting some of dom vibes from dark. How he can lower his voice and be the boss of things. I forget bim isn't always so sweet and kind (aka the tea story).

And classic Dark and Anti what else can I say. The classic both evil characters being shipped together except Anti getting the high ground this time. It's always a treat to see lee dark and who else would know his spots than an evil counterpart of another person. After all if mark didn't make those creepy vids we probably wouldn't have Dark, and Dark was the inspiration for dark egos. Since it's near the end my memory is a little foggy but when these two are together you know it's gonna be chaos. And Lee Dark is just so nice to see, it's like revenge!

And alas, Damien and William. I always did love how the roles were switched from Dark being ler and Damien being a cute lee. How could you not tickle him? I love how it brings out that childish playfullness as if they did know each other for a long time! There is just something so innocent about that that I adore. I don't know if it would be possible, but I'd love more fics of damien and the colonel interactions, maybe with other egos? If not i understand!

Oof this was a big one, but not nearly as big as 2018 christmas. I might go read other fics of yours first before delving into that beast. Maybe start at the end since the first few up to the santa one i have a pretty good memory on!
