Genuinely though, as a trans man I've been apprehensive since they announced Yasmin Finney as Rose Noble. Not because of her as an actress but because I was worried with if they'd handle the trans topic at all, and if so how.

Having watched it now, I love how they handled it.

Was it cheesy with the binary bit? Yes. But Doctor Who is cheesy and camp and watching them finally address the Doctor's canon gender fluidity both in jokes (like they did with Peter and Jodie's Doctors) but also with genuine care and seriousness was just a joy. (I literally squealed so loud my sister had to come check if I was okay) I loved it and I am so excited for this somehow even queerer chapter of Doctor Who history.

You know what brings me, as a queer person, unadulterated joy? Knowing that we repossessed Doctor Who from conservatives, transphobes, and bigots.
