Wildlife And The Natural World
The more I write about the wider world on my blog, the more it upsets me that the human species is responsible for a lot of what is happening out there.
The drought we’re having is killing wildlife, the the natural world. Birds that frequent our gardens are gone, killed due to scorching weather that is down to climate change, down to us and that is having a knock-on effect on wildlife everywhere.
How many of us, hand on heart, really think about that? I do, I always have, which is why my blog is so widespread, I don’t just write about ‘me’ or my experiences, but I also write about the things that matter to me and the things that affect us all.
As I look out to my garden, with my bird feeding station in full view, the garden used to be full of different domestic birds, now we’re lucky if we get a handful of birds frequenting the garden, and I am being generous on the handful.
Having seen a recent photograph of an albatross feeding her baby plastic, the human species is responsible for this tragedy. As humans we are contributing to the destruction of our planet and are responsible for the home of wildlife also.
Ignoring the plight of wildlife and the natural world means we’re setting ourselves up to fail also. As we ignore their plight, we are jeopardising the human species too. Please let us think about that.
We can all do small things. Feeding wildlife, allowing them to thrive in your garden, is the first step. With less open green spaces for them to be able to forage, by bring birds back into our gardens, by giving them a home, by feeding them, you’re giving the surviving birds, another crack at life.

Very first tests
Ok, the plate needs some refinement and my pressing technique definitely needs work but I think it's going to be a nice little bird
But that's enough for today

My Beloved Susie Rose
We've had such chilly inclement weather and the heavy rain's not been kind to any late blooms, but since taking Susie out of her pot and planting her in the ground, she's really flourished and is giving a gorgeous late show. Hope you enjoy the photos.
I haven't managed to capture well the change of shade from the deeply coloured buds, through all the stages to the pale fading bloom, but at each stage, they really are lovely and the leaves are quite the best of any rose I've ever grown. They're small, solid and a beautiful glossy dark green with a serrated edge for plenty of interest.
My favourite climbing rose by far
