In a scale to one to ten, how bad of an idea is to build houses on top of an ACTIVE volcano?

See now this is where you start to introduce a little nuance. Questions need to be asked like "when was the volcano's last upset?" "How much ash is it putting out?" "Is it possible to call up the folks who built Millyways: The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and get our hands on some of that sweet, sweet, futuristic force-field technology?" These are all factors that determine what kinds of structures are eligible for long-term dwelling over a tantrumming volcanoe. S'pose it's fair to point out I'm no geologist or volcanologist- point is I think it'd be fun. And if fun science means dangerous science . . . Well I'm sure you know my feelings on safe science by now. Cave out.

Have you ever seen a pink grasshopper? Though the meadow grasshopper (Chorthippus parallelus) is typically distinguished by its green and brown coloration, a genetic mutation called erythrism leaves some individuals looking pretty in pink! Erythrism is the overproduction of red pigment. While these rare insects are beautiful to look at, pink grasshoppers are hindered by their vivid coloring because it makes hiding from predators much more difficult.
