Secondary Trauma
Grief and pain and sufferingAnd then time to say goodbyeI rode the dark horse with youWhen it was your time to die
Death can come so quicklyLike in the night a thiefAnd it takes a lot of timeTo cry and express grief
And to release the pain and sufferingUntil the burden it is lightAnd then again get on with lifeWhen at last the time is right
Well, people must be left aloneWhen their grief they…

question. are the 'lotus eaters' from Jessica laws song Lotus eaters the nymphs? ik that if the song was kept in it would be in place of sirens but idk enough about greek mythology to really pick up on that that implies.
I kinda though so because lotus is frequently referenced as something Orpheus struggles with addiction to, aswell as presumably being big in the nymph scene/Dionysus's clientele, being so focused on pleasure.
(set at a party held by narcissus, Dionysus's most popular nymph)
also this line (government sponsored??? hmmmm)

i’ve been sick for days (now i know it’s been covid) so i tried getting my shifts at work covered but there wasn’t anyone to cover, so i came in this morning anyway even though i felt like i was dying (didn’t know i had covid at this point) and people were almost more annoyed that i showed up sick instead of calling in leaving them short staffed which i ended up doing anyway bc i had to leave (at which point i found out i have covid) and now i’m annoyed that they’re annoyed and everything is annoying and i feel like death.

Mateo and Elena are church planters in Central Mexico. Their town is in a region known as the "Circle of Silence," where Christians are routinely opposed by those who follow a syncretistic blend of Catholicism, animism and the occult. this class is giving me major agita
people are saying covid changed the way the world works, changed the way we do work and activities, and im like are you dumb?? 2 million people are dead in the united states because of misinformation, lies, and, yeah, a LETHAL virus. we are all sitting in this room, and i and two other people out of a possible 11, are the only ones wearing masks. this program took one (1) year to be fully online and then decided we must be in person with no exceptions. you are not allowed to take class remotely. you are not allowed to TEACH a class remotely. masks are optional outdoors and indoors. two million people are dead just in this country alone. and you think covid changed things

i loved the world and the vibes of disco elysium so much and so much of it was amazing but i wish it hadn't also been copaganda and (from what i saw in my playthrough) weirdly anti-union, i wanna spend time in that world without having to be a cop and hang out with cops. left such a bad taste in my mouth to have that beautiful final cryptid scene reduced to 'great PR for the police'. like the game raises so many interesting questions about ideology but ultimately the message about policing seems to just be 'we need more good apples, the world needs cops and it's important that they are Good Guys, the choices of individual cops are ultimately the most important thing'. i loved the game overall but the more i think about what it was actually saying the more i disagree with the majority of it
