“FLEURS DE BAGNE”
La veste de travail “LE BLEU” en moleskine, prussian blue.
The Working Blue is called “Blue” because of its reference color:
the blue called “Prussian Blue”. Work blue is an integral part history of workwear, iconic when one thinks of French Workwear heritage.

i ordered fabric this morning to make an 18th century bedgown (not used to lie around in bed in, mind, it's for wearing outside), which will be my 3rd 18th century (inspired) piece of clothing I make.
so now I'm starting to think: should I branch out and start making 18th century inspired star trek cosplay and if yes (which I assume it will be) what should I make

What does a day in your life look like?
Hi love! Great question because it's equally mundane and exciting.
On Weekdays:
I usually wake up around 8 AM and immediately start brewing my coffee (I couldn't survive without my 2 large mugs of black coffee daily – it's my most productive addiction lol);
Do the whole bathroom/skincare routine, chug 1-2 large glasses of water, and change into my "workwear" for the day (I WFH, so that's usually some sort of black knit set or structured sweatshirt, especially on Fridays); Put on light daily makeup, brush hair, etc.
Read through a few newsletters to my shuffle or French instrumental music (Morning Brew, The Skimm, Business of Fashion, Glossy, among others but these are the daily ones)
Check my email and plan my day (use the Intelligent Change Productivity Planner): I own my own copywriting/editorial business, so I usually have a main task for the day, such as writing a web page, email series, blog post/article, creating a content strategy, press releases, etc. and answer my most important/urgent emails. I try to leave one admin day to deal with most of my contracts/invoicing/calls/Zoom client meetings per week
Some days, I have certain industry events (like press previews, brand or product launches, or shows/presentations during Fashion Week), so I account for those on the days I'm going! My clients are located all over the world (Milan, London, NYC, LA, Sydney, etc.), so most of my face time with them is virtual. Love to see them if they're in town, though!
After working until at least the late afternoon or evening (usually start around 9 am), I'll take a walk or do a pilates workout if it's raining. Then, shower to reset, and take care of any late-day emails or extra work I want to finish for the day before dinner, especially if I take an earlier walk
Finally, I'll change into sweats, have dinner, clean up, do my skincare, go on Tumblr/Pinterest/Insta/Reddit, etc. read some articles then journal and read a bit (unless I scroll on TikTok lol, which happens more than I would like!) with a cup of tea before going to bed. I'm such a night owl naturally, so I've learned to go with it (being in bed by 1 am is an accomplishment for me!).
On Weekends:
Sleep IN (earliest is 9:30-10 AM); Coffee because I'm an addict, whole bathroom/water routine, change into sweats, have a dance party while the coffee gets brewing lol, and read some articles to wake up. Then, it's either chores day – Clean for the cleaner, laundry, organizing, groceries, you know the deal or a free-for-all – going on Tumblr, Netflix, listening to Podcasts, journaling, reading, etc. and always a walk or light workout
** Obviously, I'm missing the meals here but for anyone struggling with an ED or food issues, please know that I DO have 3 meals a day and 1-2 snacks or 2 meals and 2-3 snacks a day. Fuel your body!
Hope this answers your question xx

FRENCH HERITAGE.
The French brand Fleurs de Bagne has become a favourite of mine. Got the blue jacket at the store L’Usine Bleue in Stockholm. They focus on French heritage and workwear. Don’t think you can find my jacket anymore. But check out their Instagram and web site. A lot of cool stuff to be found, at reasonable princes.
On the pic I’m also wearing an M-51 parka by Real Mccoy’s. Vest from Fortela. Nudie Jeans. And shoes by Lennertson Shoes.

There’s been much discussion around Mr Austin Butler’s continuing embodiment of the king of rock ’n’ roll since his Oscar-nominated performance in Elvis. And while most of it has focused on his vocal cords, we’re much more interested in his 1950s-inspired rockabilly style. It’s clear from the actor’s everyday excursions that he has a soft spot for vintage workwear. From the era-appropriate faded French chore jacket to the distressed light-wash denim and brown leather cowboy boots – his ruff-and-ready summer style has us all shook up. If he takes as much inspiration from his upcoming villainous portrayal in Dune: Part Two, then expect to see him in head-to-toe Rick Owens this time next year

The pioneering party girl with a razor-sharp business acumen, the first of her kind in post-Revolutionary China, Madame Song continues to dazzle from beyond the ether at M+ museum in Hong Kong! A retrospective of the artist, model, restauranteur and Pierre Cardin muse Song Huai-Kuei (1937-2006) follows her journey from being a textile artist to opening the first Chinese outpost of the Parisian restaurant Maxim’s in Beijing, to becoming the representative of Pierre Cardin and bringing the world of modeling and French runway fashion to China on the first waves of post-revolutionary economic growth. Among her crowd were silver screen luminaries of her day; the 80's and 90's Hong Kong cinema stars, sprinkled with a good amount of French and Italian fashion designers. She was an outlier in an era of post-Revolutionary Communist and Socialist androgynous dressing, when both men and women wore genderless Mao-style workwear suits for day and night. She brought glamour, sex appeal, and some Parisian flair to the grey streets of Beijing when it needed color the most.

Where/how do I start to get into more complex menswear? I see guys in 80s movies, vintage pics of Harrison Ford, Robert Redford, Kurt Russell, dudes like that, and they all look great, but it's a world I have very little knowledge of. And modern clothing is such ass quality.
Comparatively, getting ripped is pretty straightforward, and working out is something I was working on already. That Rick Owens quote about anything looking good on an elite physique isn't exactly wrong, but I suppose it is a bit reductive. And it's not Rick doesn't dress extremely intentionally lol
Yeah, by all means, work the fuck out. It's good for you in many, many ways -- if you're trying to maximize aesthetics, though, there's a point past which muscle development hurts. If you're a skinnier type you probably won't get there unless you're on the 'roids, but some people with more natural propensities towards bulk aren't so lucky (huge traps will cause most jackets to just float off of you, for example).
Anyway, there's a ton of resources out there if you want to care. If you read French, Stiff Collar and Parisian Gentleman come highly recommended, the latter particularly through their youtube channel, of which an English version exists. It actually has more content than the French version, but I find Hugo Jacomet's French accent in English incredibly grating so I tend to only watch the French version.
Switching to English, Permanent Style is a great blog-cum-website, particularly if you're less of a suit guy: there's a lot of content on how to do styles between workwear and business casual. On the other end of the spectrum, I like much of what Gentlemen's Gazette do, but it's definitely a fairly, shall we say, peacock-focused outlet. Also they're trying to sell you their products, which is always a bit annoying.
Obligatory mention to Die, Workwear. Man is an annoying californian but has solid opinions on clothes.
Finally, there are actual books on the subject. If you want to buy one and only one, get Dressing the Man by Alan Flusser. It's a pretty good guide to many of the accepted principles. Another author worth mentioning is G. Bruce Boyer, by whom I own a small collection of essays called True Style.
In the end, a lot of it is a question of personal experimentation, so if you're so inclined I encourage you to try more things and see what works. Make use of the internet if you live somewhere where you can't easily just visit nicer stores. If you're careful about how you buy, it works a lot better than you might think it does.

Essentiels du Septembre
September has the most unpredictable weather conditions. The uncanny conditions of this weather allow us to review a few essentials which we feel would suit the current atmosphere. There are a lot of different ways to put together any workwear or officewear outfit, we just prefer it to reference more subtle avant-garde references in clothing. Let us know if you agree. P.S. My nephew is starting 7th grade next week and now that it’s officially back to school time, i thought it would be fun to do a random question Wednesday: grade school addition.
Growing up when did the school year start for you?
Did you do anything special the last week of summer vacation?
Did you do the whole school supply and new school clothes shopping?
Did you get name brand school supplies or knock off versions?
What was your favorite subject in school?
What was your favorite year in school?
ohhhhhh these are ridiculously on point, friend! thank you muchly for the fun and wishing your nephew a wonderful year! the contrast between school as a student and school as an educator is hilarious, i have to say!
all through my academic years prior to college, the first day of school was the tuesday after labor day. my first year of teaching, or maybe even the year prior, we shifted to an august start. the first day of school this year was august 22nd.
besides lament my upcoming confinement, you mean? usually i was finishing whichever show i’d borrowed the boxset of from hollywood video, disc by disc. oh, and definitely scrambling through AP assignments i’d forgotten about!
YUPPPP. so many binders and dividers and composition books, aiming at organization. my backpack was never anything but a disaster area. old navy, pacsun, american eagle, and hot topic were my happy places! let’s be real: a decent portion of my current workwear is from old navy. NO REGRETS.
brand name ... the knock-offs never held up!
i was and am a total language nerd! i started with spanish I in eighth grade and took AP spanish and french I simultaneously my senior year. i also took a pop culture elective as a junior.
honestly? fourth grade. that was the year i moved from the west to east coast and discovered my beloved winter! plus, the elevator broke the day of our end-of-year party and mr. h, about whom tiny e was a gonerrrr, carried me down three flights of stairs.
