Founders Day will be released on Blu-ray on June 4 via Dark Sky Films. The 2023 satirical political slasher will first be available on Digital on May 7.

Erik Bloomquist (Long Lost) directs from a script he co-wrote with brother Carson Bloomquist. Naomi Grace, Devin Druid, Andrew Stewart-Jones, Olivia Nikkanen, Emilia McCarthy, Tyler James White, Amy Hargreaves, Catherine Curtin, Jayce Bartok, and William Russ star.

I believe that, for one full day, every year, tumblr should revert to its old format. Call it Founder’s Day or something. No messaging. Every comment on a reblog is indented with a vertical line. Go nuts, show nuts.

And, most importantly, the ability to edit other peoples’ post.

For one 24 hour period every year, tumblr goes to purge and becomes a lawless wasteland where vampires are turned into Danny DeVito and all discourse is an unreadable mash of lines.

It would be glorious.

Oh, yeah, last night I attended an advanced screening of Founders Day! Honestly, it was a mess, but a fun mess? Schlocky and low budget and it had some really good actors and some really bad actors and utterly bewildering character motivations. Most of the blood in the kill scenes was done up really well but there was one where it was downright frothy on the pavement, and I know it was probably due to how the squib was shooting it out of the victim's gut, but it still looked hokey. The killer's design was top notch. I'm digging this new era of masked killers killing on or around holidays. John Carver in Thanksgiving, the Angel in It's A Wonderful Knife, now this guy- who was never given a name in the story as far as I can recall!! Given that his weapon is a gavel and he has a powdered wig, I was calling him Judge. I guess "Founder" is more appropriate, but I like Judge. Speaking of Thanksgiving, I think I prefer that one in terms of suspense and motivations, but I don't dislike Founders Day. Just don't go into Founders Day expecting anything but B-movie schlock.
