i based the shape of this house off one i saw in dearborn heights, but honestly…idk if i like it yet. like i like it, but idk if i like it for this save. this lot was just unnecessarily big. i might change it to be two homes :/ but i haven’t decided.

the backyard will probably change a bit if i keep it. i won’t know until i do the rest of the neighborhood 🥲. there only one lot left and that lot will have a bigger starter home. like a 4-sim starter home.

after downloading a bunch of simkhira's sims and catching up on simstoryu's fordtown save, i was inspired to try and pick up my old personal save again and try to complete it.

i'm not a builder lol, this is a renovation of a lot originally built by florwalsims. it includes a vet clinic, a small cafe with a library upstairs, and a functional movie theatre. i'm still trying to decide what direction i'm gonna go with this save and what i'll do afterward, but for now, i need to start thinking up some names.

true testimonial church update (wip)

finished the landscaping and stuff literally like two months ago but i don’t think i ever shared this. i love it so much. the back took me a while because i wanted it to not look weird but also have space for wedding decorations when i marry my sims. this update also comes after i decided that i wanted to go back through my builds and significantly minimize how much cc i was using. so i made a conscious effort to not to use any besides the cars on the street.

still haven’t furnished the inside and i probably won’t until i finish the whole neighborhood

bowl & bubbles

a bowling alley and a hookah (bubbles) lounge. because bowling is such a huge part of my own life and there's a million bowling alleys and leagues in detroit, i had to include it. this makes the last lot on this strip (wooooo :)). now i just have to go through and add little random grass patches, street lights, cars, and do the furnishings.

this is the lot i lost like an hour or so ago but i forgot that i was born good at everything :)). i rebuilt it all. crisis averted.

grover duplex apt (wip)

i found the pictures 🥴. somehow the path changed?? so i had to fix that but now it’s back to normal

anywayyyyy, this is the duplex that replaced the previous apartment. literally, i’m in love. i wish it was smaller? maybe? but besides that i’m obsessed. i hadn’t planned on furnishing it quite yet but i couldn’t stop.

now the bottom floor floorplan is a little wonky but nothing that bothers me enough to reconfigure it. though, i haven’t playtested it yet so there’s still a chance i might need to change stuff. i also need to set up the actual unit/tenant stuff i’ve never done so we’ll see.

i left the left unit “move-in ready” for if i wanna play a sim in an apartment straight from cas. i haven’t made the family for the right unit, but i’m planning on it being single-mom or dad and two teens, maybe a YA. we’ll see once i get in cas.

that’s it :). i feel like im getting back into the swing of things. back in my yt grind next

true testimonial church [wip]

we’re moving right along, no time to waste. i almost didn’t build this and just got one off the gallery, but none of them really had the look i was going for. this’ll probably end up being a wedding venue or something but i couldn’t make a detroit inspired save without at least one church. though, when i make downtown i’ll probably have a more grand one there too. detroit has some really beautiful old churches.

i’m not religious anymore, but i grew up (as most black ppl can relate) in a church-going household. i also went to a christian private school, which my dad also went to. we weren’t as religious as some but religion is a big part of the black american community in general. so i wanted some of my sims to have that element too.

i think it came out really nice. the lot next door is a “for sale” lot. i think i would probably use it for when i want to start my sims off on a completely empty lot at 0 simoleons.

but yea, that’s it :) i’m happy w/ it

karate dōjō, boxing gym (or maybe a ymca type vibe), and a freelance office

another lot fully built. only one more lot on this street before i start furnishing. i just liked the dojo so much that i had to furnish it straight away so there’s pictures of that. i had trouble photographing this lot honestly. i like it a lot, but i feel like pictures don’t really capture how it feels in game?? idk.

i was really just spitballing when it came to the exteriors. i played around until i liked it. in detroit there are a lot of strip malls that look similar but then there are also some with unique looking roofs. so i tried to embody that. the dōjō and the (maybe) boxing gym are like a mini strip mall and the freelance office is a building right before the strip mall starts (you see that in detroit/michigan a lot too).

longwinded but i literally love working on this save. it’s like my baby.

bishara family: almeda, samir, maryam, and zaineb

brother & sister: hakeem and jamila aziz

hakeem and maryam are married and they have kids so you’ll see them again. i just needed the family tree to be connected so i had to make the older people first. hakeem and maryam moved maryam’s parents in because they were getting up there in age. so they all live together.

zaineb was born out of an affair samir had but she’s very close with everyone except her dad. also, almeda has a different last name than everyone else (i can’t remember it rn tho😭)

zaineb and jamila have their own families as well, but jamila won’t have kids, only a fiancé and dogs. i don’t have their stories fleshed out yet ‘cause it’s not really their time. i think they’ll love in newcrest or whatever other world i use as “downtown detroit”

this is the family that belongs to 13701 king st.🤩 i wanted them to have a huge family that they like to host during holidays or birthdays. so we’ll be seeing them a few more times

midtown roller rink

furnished and functional babyyyy! this was kind of difficult since most roller rinks mostly consists of lockers and seating areas.

there’s hella vending machines and hella seats. this build took so long because i wanted it to double as a lot type that spawns sims, but none of them really worked with my vision. i decided to settle on generic because i think i would bring a party/group of sims here (birthday, boys night, teen hang out, etc). even if i had made it a different lot type, the sims barely would’ve used the rink anyway. gotta work with what i’m given🫡

any how, i love it. the interior doesn’t match northland in detroit but the exterior does and that’s what matters.

custom content is posters, whiteboard, cars, and arcade machines.

when i finish the save, i’ll post a whole list + links of the cc i used. doing it individually is too much of a hassle and i’m lazy so. in the meantime, i you don’t care about those pieces of cc, it’s up on the gallery (or will be shortly). @SimmerLJK
