i think the structural nature of doctor who makes it so i cannot relate to people who are consistently obsessed with it nor can i relate to people who are exclusively casual fans the entire time. Doctor Who is one of the ultimate pieces of media that's like BUILT for having it consume your every thought for like two years and then you forget about it for a decade. And then it comes back around. But that might just be the perspective of someone who like comic book characters lol

#yakuza #like a dragon #like a dragon gaiden #rgg #ryu ga gotoku #kosei shishido #shishido kosei #my art #original #emphasis on My Take because yokoyama was gesturing more than verbally describing what it looked like but #from what i can tell it had raglan sleeves like this which ended at the elbows #the idea was scrapped because Who The Fuck Would Make A Puffer Like This #but it lives on in my heart o7 #also the jacket was almost certainly on a children's jacket in versace's barocco line so i wanted to keep the vibe #he's not actually supposed to be zipped-up because yokoyama and mb talk about his necklace at length BUT: #1. you can see the raglan much more clearly this way #2. yokoyama emphasized how bunched-up and bulky the old jacket was #3. ehh to put it simply shishido himself is a trigger for me at this point so i needed to minimize how much i studied his face #whenever i finish this i'll probably add his bracelet because there was a lot of discussion about the material of his jewelry #all of that aside. i'm happy this was my final piece of the year :) happy new year everyone

kavinsky's death is actually the closing arc in a great tragedy to me bc his actions throughout the story are mostly just him practically begging for someone to be on his side, to care about him, to even just look at him. his father tried to kill him, his mother is completely uninterested. he can dream himself as many people as he wants, but they will only ever think of him because he made them to do so. the dream pack are just physical manifestations of his desire to not be alone in the world, to have someone, anyone, connected to him. he so desperately tries to draw some sort of emotion out of ronan, good bad or ugly, because the intense similarities they share mean that he's the only person who might be willing to look long enough to see him. and when it doesn't work, when he realizes it can't, that this world is not for him and he is not going to be a part of it in a way that involves anyone else, he decides that everyone is going to look at least this once. they will all see the finale if nothing else. genuinely doomed from the start. and how truly devastating that is in comparison to the core group the story focuses on, characters that even at their lowest and darkest and meanest and absolute worst have others there with them. characters that always have someone looking for them. dying is a boring side of a life that has nothing inside of it.

so I was going through Elowen's introduction again for research purposes and also bc I love her and I noticed

she specifically says she's been looking for Sage for three years. assuming she wasn't just like, hanging out for two years before she decided to go hunt him down, that suggests either a) no one was sure who killed Lucan and it took them a while to figure it out or b) she didn't hear about Lucan's death until two years after it happened.

(I'm leaning towards b because it's angstier because she recognizes signs of corruption in Sage but gets completely blindsided by Lucan's transformation, so it's possible she wasn't around to notice what was happening to him.)

it's just a theory but can you fucking imagine. her baby brother was dead for two years and she just didn't know, and she finally tracks down his killer but instead of finally getting justice she learns he was corrupted the whole time and she didn't know about that either!! I'm going insane. someone get her a blanket or something.
