there's something about Kavinsky's name being Joseph ok
Joseph being the name of Jesus's earthly father, the man who raised him, the one who stepped in to fill the space god left behind
Niall, powerful but distant, absent, and unforthcoming
Kavinsky as the one to step in and teach Ronan about himself and what he (they) can do
not Niall, but Kavinsky
not god, but Joseph
mmmm just something about it idk

you know what was iconic? when kavinsky was like “ronan you are so gay. i am so gay. we should be gay together. stop fighting it.” and ronan is just like “um yeah i’m gay. obviously. i just don’t want to be gay with you <3” and then proceeded to stare at adam for pages and pages.

I locked my crush’s little brother in the trunk of a car which I then proceeded to almost set on fire. AITA?
I (18m) took my crush’s (18m) little brother (16m) and locked him in the trunk of a car I was about to destroy. He seems kinda pissed? I feel like I was pretty obviously just doing it to flirt w him. Acts of service are my love language he should look it up. Also it was the 4th of July so it was a special occasion (perfect season for family based threats). People keep telling me that it was a “crime” and I should be in “federal prison” for “kidnapping ” and “arson”. I thought it was romantic. AITA?

This is from three years ago when Maggie answered a question of mine regarding Kavinsky and if the Cabeswater and Greywaren events didn’t happen, could he have been possibly redeemed. Thought it would be fun to share since it goes into the depth of Kavinsky and Ronan’s lore together!
Maggie Stiefvater said, “I think the rules of fiction means that anyone can be redeemed if the story is written that way, right? But Kavinsky was written specifically to not be redeemed, because Ronan was going to be redeemed - it was to show you what could have happened to Ronan if he hadn't made the choice to turn towards self worth, acceptance, love, real friendship, if instead he had thrown himself into destruction, selfishness, revenge, surrounding oneself with cronies and yes men instead of people you had to respect and navigate. So storywise, Kavinsky could have been redeemed, but in context of the Dream Thieves, I think that would've been possible only if I were writing that book as a tragedy - because it would've made sense, then, to for Ronan to give up instead: they were funhouse mirrors. That's what gives DT its poignant power. The heaviness on the bitter wis why Ronan's triumph feels real.”
