I debated not even sharing this but as a Custom Fashion Designer every step of the process is an important communication tool. However not every step of the process ends up being a part of the final garment. For Anna K’s #SomethingBoldSomethingBlueBridal the original Prototype ended up being completely redesigned and the final pattern ended up not being anything like the first draft. Having a fitted bodice was very important to achieve the level of support Anna needed to feel as comfortable and elegant as possible on her wedding day. Seams, cups and gathers were how we initially tried to create that support, but as we fit the Prototype and began taking notes and feeling into the dress we recognized many opportunities for improvement. As an expert I know when - and how - to change course to best serve my VIPs. Upgrading a design from it’s original concept is always available to my Custom Fashion Clients and I’m honored to rise to the occasion. 9 years 🌞 4 pieces 🌞 3 colorways 🌞 2 models 🌞 1 sail boat 🌞 9 years ago today was Themis and Thread’s 1st photoshoot featuring my 4 piece collection of entirely American grown and made Organic Cottons in 3 beautiful colorways for each piece. It was Summer Solstice and I had just founded Themis and Thread THE MONTH before. My dear friends @alexbondflx and @jennie_scarbrough modeled on Doug Hazlitt’s “Finger Lakes I” as @lalulubella captured the magic. @abbyganton84 and @corrinawilcox_hairstylist did hair and makeup and I handcrafted every garment. Accessories by @roundrabbit and @littlegoatsdyes were featured and the shoot was for Themis and Thread’s locally printed mail order catalog. The Cloud Tank, Promenade Pants, Liberty Dress, Sweet Tee and Sweetheart Skirt were the first pieces I designed, drafted, created, marketed and manufactured. That Summer Solstice we sailed on Seneca Lake, watched the sunset and moon rise and started a beautiful thing. As a Fashion Designer there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing humans shine in clothing you’ve worked so hard to create.
