✨Fujian Cubic Fluorite with Black Druzy Quartz matrix✨
The term fluorescence is derived from fluorite, which is a common known factor for determining the legitimacy of your fluorite- as it will glow under the UV light!
This specimens cubic formations glow a stunning purple when activated! Amazing how they form so beautifully atop the druzy quartz matrix!
The word Druzy refers to the accumulation of small crystals. These crystal intergrowths can be formed by many different minerals- the species and shapes of crystals formed are dependent on fluid composition and the size is formed from fluid temperature and pressure.
On this piece, the black color of the druzy comes from the amount of magnesium that is comprised in the quartz. The more magnesium , the darker it will be! In this case, a stunning midnight black that shimmers with thousands of tiny stars✨
🌿 If this piece is calling to you, check it out here! 🌿

Idk how anyone looks at the price of professional education and still thinks we live in a functioning society. I wanted to take a gemology course because I really wanna learn more about gems and minerals, but also as a dry run to see if I could handle an online college program. Good thing they're $400 per course plus a monthly membership fee.

Hey Pebbles, I heard you were rating rocks! I was a huge rock nerd in a past life so I thought I'd share some of my collection for you to rate. I would share all of it but for the sake of your time (and so your creator doesn't have to draw a ton) I limited myself to two rocks and two fossils.

This is smokey quartz with fluorite. It's rather fragile, hence why it's in the jar. It's one of my most expensive specimens, I bought it when I went to Yellowstone National Park.

This is a pyrite sun. Despite pyrite being a common mineral these are quite rare, only forming under glaciers. I bought this from a small rock shop.

This is a Megalodon tooth. Megalodon was an ancient superpredator comparable to a leviathan. I got this at a gem and mineral show, it was one of the best ones there.

Finally, a piece of petrified wood. The unique thing about this piece is it was owned by a famous scientist. You can still see the label he made on the top. I got this at a place called Meteor Crater, it was the last one left.

Fluorite from Taraba State, Nigeria
This piece (along with everything else we post here) is completely natural and unpolished. The intense blue coloration you see in the picture is caused by daylight fluorescence. This fluorite changes color in the sun! It is dark purple in indoor lighting and turns a vibrant blue in sunlight.

Here is the result of our photo session at the #munichshow with #Finemineralphotography. This incredible“Alien Eye“ fluorite from Erongo Mountains, Namibia finds his photo master, Lazlo Kupi.
This unique find in a pocket from 2007 produced around 30 fine examples. This specimen consists of a pair of robust, intergrown fluorite crystals that exhibit the characteristic multicolored phantoms that create the sought after "Alien Eye".
With adequate lighting, the crystal’s color and pronounced features stand out in dramatic fashion. This specimen is in terrific condition and displays magnificently in person.
Erongo Mountains, Karibib Constituency, Erongo Region, Namibia 8.6cm x 6.8cm x 5.6cm

My Rogerley and Diana Marie fluorite specimens showing off their beautiful blue daylight fluorescence on a sunny afternoon.  They’re reacting to UV radiation in the sunlight!
For comparison, here’s what these rocks look like under artificial light:
