Ahh! A year ago today I posted my first fic. I’m so damn grateful for all I’ve learned in the last year, and for the community I’ve found in and around the world of fic writing. If you write, read, kudos, comments etc. I am also so grateful to you for making the community what it is 🤍

Miranda watched him eat with an unwavering look of concern. Her mind soon began to wander through the darkest rivers when she contemplated the life that Thomas had lived before he found them again. It all came back to her, all at once. The rage, the utter despair that she’d felt when they took him away… the unending well of grief where she and James had sunk for the past years. Her fingers gripped the edge of the table, tight with restraint. At that moment, she only wished that Alfred would come back from the dead, just so that they could taste that vengeance again.

His question made her hesitate. Miranda wanted to spare the ugly details until she was sure he was strong again, but he had to be ready for what would come next, so she adjusted herself on her seat and began the story. “James is known here as Captain Flint”, she said. “The most feared pirate in Nassau, who is now in possession of a Spanish warship and threatening to attack the fort”. Miranda gulped, then poured herself some tea and sipped it. “He wants to accomplish what you wanted for Nassau, but the way that he is doing it will only lead to destruction…”
