Tamagotchi Center Tamagotchi Smart English Patch 

The folks over at Tamagotchi Center are always cooking up something new. Many have been working on a patch for the Japanese Tamagotchi Smart to translate all, if not most on-screen verbiage from Japanese to English. This is being done by creating a custom Tama SmaCard that contains the English patch that can be installed.

The English patch by Tamagotchi Center is a 16MB store flash chip and features about 99% of the Japanese text translated into English. The really neat thing is that it’s future proof, meaning that if they release a update to the translation programming, you can use the Center FlashMate and companion web app to grab the latest programming.

The translation download quires you to charge your device for 2 hours and to keep the USB cable plugged in during the installation process. Do not touch any part of the card while the patching is in progress. Plug the card and hit the reset button to start the process! The screen will become white for 2 minutes, then once it turns off that indicates the the installation is complete. Simply take out the card and long press the middle button (B) for 10 seconds to turn the device back on.

Metering:

Metering is finding the "middle gray"

Reflective metering can occur within the camera (TTL). Reflective reads the light bouncing off of a subject

Incident lighting measures light falling on subject and averages it. It's more of a truer, more accurate reading of light.

Research: ambient vs. flash lighting

Zone System:

When shooting film, "Expose for Shadows, Develop for highlights"

Zone 3 is the 1st shadow you can start to see detail

Zone 9 is the first highlight with detail

Meter zones 3 and 7 for an average reading

4 stops difference of the highest highlight/lowest shadow value is "normal", >4 stops difference = high contrast, <4 stops difference = low contrast. A photo can be developed n+2 to create more contrast
