Mr. Grumpy Face (Iwaizumi Hajime x Reader)

a/n : the prompt for this story is “Iwaizumi looks cute rather than scary when he’s all grumpy face, it made you want to kiss him” aasksjjakkaa, this has been on my mind for the longest time! enjoy ^^

For the past 5 months of dating, Iwaizumi Hajime have been nothing but a sweet, caring, and supportive boyfriend. He always made sure that you feel comfortable and safe with him. He gave you the softest smile and the most gentleman side of him. Though sometimes he let his anger out because he’s a quite temperamental and a strict man himself, but he made sure to keep his emotions in check. All of that because he is just so in love with you, and he wants to treasure you and be with you forever (if he can)

Sometimes you told him that it’s okay to have different opinions, that he doesn’t have to do things that he didn’t want to just to make you happy. Iwaizumi took note ,,,onthat but still, you comes first. Not gonna lie, you kinda like it. Even though you find it somewhat frustrating when Iwaizumi is not honest with his own feeling. But you like it, you like the idea of “him hating everyone but you” kinda trope. But Iwaizumi is not hating on everyone, based on what you’ve heard from his friends and teammates, he’s just grumpy and has a somewhat resting bitch face. He is always so fiery when it comes to volleyball so the slightest miss could bring a frown to his face throughout the game. His bestfriend, Oikawa Tooru sometimes came whining to you about how is that Iwaizumi can be so nice with you, but often rude to him (in a friendly manner).

So out of curiosity, you went and see what the damage is. Just how grumpy Iwaizumi can be. It was Wednesday when you asked if you can watch him practicing and he agreed right away. So here you are, leaning your body against the railing of the second floor of the gym.

“Iwa-chan~ don’t loose your compose now that your girlfriend is watching!” shouted Oikawa from the other side of the gym. It made you quite embarrassed because almost everyone looked at your direction.

An irked mark appeared on Iwaizumi’s forehead as he began to spiked a ball towards Oikawa and it made a loud sound, “Shut your shitty mouth, shittykawa!”

Some of the members laughed at their bickering as it is a normal occurrence. Not long after that they heard their opponents for today’s practice match entering the gym hall. Everyone began to focus their attention again to the practice match that was about to start. You always liked seeing sport matches. So you’re watching the match before you in such intensity in your gleaming eyes. But not forgetting to direct your main focus towards your boyfriend. It was quite fun observing your boyfriend in the court as it is a rare occurrence in your sight. He looks so serious with a frown covering his face for the whole game. His eyes were piercing gaze, and not to mention he sometimes shouts in anger when he did something wrong. Watching all of those made you think that it’s weirdly cute. You know that Iwaizumi is a big fan of Godzilla and now he is a splitting image of that giant reptile monster, the more you imagine it the more you can’t contain your laughter.

Practice ended after a long sets of game. You saw the opponent leaving the gym as your highschool team is doing their own cooling down stretch. You made your way towards your boyfriend when he’s gathering his stuff.

“Good work, Hajime,” You said to get his attention and he quickly turned around at the sound of your voice and gave you a soft smile “Ah, yeah, thankyou for coming”

You cannot contain yourself any longer after seeing the gap between Iwaizumi just a minute ago in the court and now he’s all lovey dovey with you.

“Hajime, come here for a sec,” you said, waving your hand to get him to come closer to you. He tilted his head in confusion “Something matter?”

You giggled a little before grabbing both Iwaizumi’s cheeks, forcing him to lean down to your shorter figure. You quickly pepper him with soft kisses on his face before he startled and pushing him off you, “T-The heck are you doing?” he said stuttering and his face red.

“Nothing~ I just think you look really cute getting all grumpy face earlier in the match,” you let out a laugh, “I’d like to see more of that side of you, rather than you being nice and reluctant to me all the time.” You finally let go of Iwaizumi’s face and he just stood there looking at you, his whole face is now red.

“Hurry up and change! I’ll be waiting outside,” you said while jogging to exit the gym.

There were still some people in the court when you did that and they looked just as shocked as Iwaizumi. Meanwhile, Iwaizumi slumped into one of bench, covering his face feeling embarrassed that you did that in front of his friends.

“Um.. does this mean that y/n has somekind of a degradation kink?” Matsukawa stated.

“Awh, Iwa-chan is so lucky~”

“Shut up all of you!!” Iwaizumi growled

A new 110-room, 12-suite hotel will open in April in Wailea.

The AC Hotel by Marriott Maui Wailea was scheduled to open this month, but was delayed to allow more time to adjust to COVID-19 protocols, said General Manager Kaleo Kenui.

“We decided to delay the opening of the hotel so our team can take the time to adjust the hotel’s public spaces to reflect recent social situations and train our team on new safety cleaning protocols,” he said last week.

The four-story hotel, which is still under construction, sits on 3 acres along Wailea Ike Place, mauka of the shoreline resorts, and is the AC Hotel brand’s first property in the state, according to a news release. It has more than 150 hotels in more than 20 countries and territories, according to its website.

The new Wailea hotel will feature a business center, a fitness area and an infinity-edge pool complete with a poolside tiki bar and cabanas.

With tourism down and other resorts on Maui still not close to capacity, Kenui said that “ironically, this is a good time to open the new hotel.”

“Instead of opening at full capacity, we can really take the time to safely engage with our guests, share with them our mana’o on how to respectfully vacation in our island home,” said Kenui, who is also the general manager for the nearby Residence Inn Maui Wailea.

The hotel will follow Marriott International’s standards and protocols that include enhanced health and safety standards, such as guest and associate face-covering requirements, physical distancing policies, reduced seating capacity for meetings, frequent cleaning of high-touch areas, hand sanitizing stations throughout the hotel and the use of mobile technology.

“We are cautious and optimistic,” Kenui said. “We’re taking advantage of the slower period to really make sure we provide a safe and healthy environment for our guests and associates.”

He’s also optimistic that responsible travelers will return to the islands.

Resorts statewide saw more than 90 percent declines in visitors at the height of the pandemic. High-traffic and high-price areas like West and South Maui recorded huge dips in occupancy and revenue. The largest resorts remained closed throughout most of the pandemic.

Maui County, once the second-busiest visitor market in the state, tallied the lowest occupancy rates and revenue per available room among all four counties from May to September.

In total, 2020 arrivals to Maui decreased 74.1 percent. Visitor numbers have increased since Oct. 15, when the state allowed trans-Pacific travelers to skip quarantine if they got a negative test from a trusted partner.

Hotel occupancy across Maui County has risen from 14.2 percent in October to 26 percent in December. In a turnaround, Maui County led the state in revenue per room in November and December, with Wailea reporting some of the highest average daily rates in the state.

Maui Hotel & Lodging Association Executive Director Rod Antone said the new hotel is not an outlier; a lot of association members also have conducted renovations and projects during the pandemic so as to not disturb vacations when visitors return.

The new AC Hotel will have more than 60 employees when it opens, and more will be added as occupancy and demand dictates, Kenui said. Since about two months remain before the hotel starts operations, new hires will be sought closer to opening date. Jobs will be posted at careers.marriott.com.

Kenui said it will be a while before tourism levels return to what they were, but if there is anything that people have learned in the past year, it’s the importance of attracting the right kind of tourists to Maui.

“That’s our goal moving forward; we are not necessarily focused on achieving a specific occupancy percentage,” Kenui said. “It’s our kuleana to appeal to the kind of travelers who appreciate and respect our land, nature, people and culture.”

The hotel is accepting reservations and has received some inquiries already, Kenui said.

Based on the season, Kenui said rates will start as low as $299 a night. All rooms have a private lanai and feature curated artwork that reflects Maui.

The hotel also features a lounge that allows guests to work, dine or recline, and offers food and cocktails.

AC Kitchen will have a blend of international- and Hawaiian-inspired cuisine along with wine, charcuterie and fromage tastings and locally curated delicacies along with special culinary events.

Japanese audiences recognized this as representing a real incident that took place some months prior.

⁣⁣In February 1954, a fishing boat called Lucky Dragon No. 5 had been having some bad luck, so they decided to head towards the Marshall Islands. Their luck was about to get worse.⁣⁣

Before dawn on March 1, the crew were awakened by a bright flash, followed by vivid sunset colors that lit the whole ocean. They had witnessed Castle Bravo, the 1st US test of a Thermonuclear weapon.⁣⁣

America had warned Japan to keep ships away, and Lucky Dragon was outside of the exclusion zone. But America had miscalculated the strength of the bomb. It was supposed to be 6 megatons, but it ended up being 15, about 1000 times more powerful than the ones dropped on Japan during the war.⁣⁣

Soon fallout like ash began to fall on the boat. The crew, not knowing what it was, cleaned it up by hand and continued to work their nets. I managed to finish off the chapter! It’s nearly 3 am oh god.

When I wake, I feel more or less like myself again. The images within my mind are quiet, settling back to focus on where I am at present: a small room in a bed with a linen covering. It is well past nightfall, and I can hear the insects thrumming outside. It’s cool, and for a moment, I simply consider just staying in bed and waiting for morning to come.

Instead, I push the covering back, and rise to look around. There is little more to the room to explore, though I do look, pushing aside the curtains that keep out the insects to look outside. There is little other than darkness, stars, and the singing, so I let the cloth fall closed and turn around to explore my room.

It is dark, and there would be nothing to see, were there not a lamp burning in the other room. The faintest hint of illumination throws everything into penumbral shadow. There is little enough to see: a basin, an ewer of water, and a bucket in the corner. I avail myself of one, then the other, then move to the divider that clicks and whispers as I slip through.

I find Surya there, sitting at a small table. He holds something in one hand, speaking into it quietly. I did not hear him before I came into the room, which is all the more unsettling. The lamp is nothing I have ever seen, a ball of pure, glowing light.

He doesn’t look at me when I stand there, staring in wonder, but he does beckon to me and I go to his side.

“What is it?” I ask, gesturing to the light. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”

“It’s a glow-globe, there’s a power source inside and it doesn’t require any fuel to burn. It illuminates steadily and evenly.” Surya pushes it towards me, and I catch it. It rolls so smoothly, more so than any leather ball. “You can keep it when I’m done here.”

“The sun and the cave,” I say instead. “I’m dazzled by the sight of it and I’m not paying attention to the predators.”

“If you’re exposed to wonders on a daily basis, they become less wonderful and you become more jaded,” Surya admitted. “Which allows you to turn your attention elsewhere.”

“That seems… cynical,” I say, and let my hands rest over the glowing orb. It feels warm but not too hot, and I roll it a little as we sit. It changes the shadows as they dance along the wall. “What do you have in your hand?”

“It’s a machine that lets me communicate with someone else, in this case someone very far away,” Surya says. “We are partners, but this is the first time we’ve been apart for so long. We always knew we had to be so that we could fulfill our goals.”

“What goal is that?” I ask. “Is it to make us? Though, we already exist.”

“I have an important goal and I need someone to help me with it,” he says. “I intend to be on the front lines for a time but not forever. There are things that only I can do. There is… something coming. It’s meant to be serious and many people are going to die. There’s no helping that. Nothing I can do will stop those deaths.”

“That sounds… depressing,” I say, and I look down at the light. “Are you sure there isn’t more we can do? Nothing to help? Nothing to even try?”

“We could throw away an immense amount of resources, and in the end gain nothing,” Surya says. “It will seem wasteful but it’s truthfully the only way. I’ve considered it, examined all the data-- information. We only have about a decade to prepare for this. Too soon, and nothing would last. Too late…”

“Too late, and there is nothing left to save.” I nod, thinking. “What do you need us for? What do we do?”

“I need… warriors, though not just warriors. People who can do nothing but fight will do me no good. I need people who can build, who can charm, who can lead and follow. I need people of individual bravery but will still follow orders.” Surya shrugs. “It will build over time. There’s no point in having too many of a good thing. Twenty will do very nicely, I think.”

“I’m interesting in helping,” I say. “I know that it isn’t my time yet, but when it is, I want you to tell me what’s going on, so I can be with you when it happens.”

“I know that it’s beyond me in so many ways!” I say, gripping at the globe. It hurts my hands now, but I can’t release it or it will shatter. I must hold onto the light, the power, until he answers me. “I still want to help you. Take me with you. Please. Promise me.”

Surya looks at me, and I do my best to look serious and solemn, but not so desperate as all that. He says, simply, “I promise that I will.”

Does The Use of Pole Cameras to Surveil a Suspect's Home Violate Their 4th Amendment Rights

In August 2014, law enforcement officers, suspicious of Travis Tuggle’s alleged involvement in drug trafficking, installed the first of 3 cameras (the other 2 being installed in 2015) outside of his home to monitor his activities, notably without a warrant. The cameras, which were eventually removed in March of 2016, recorded over 100 instances of suspected meth deliveries, pick-ups, and more suspicious activity like Tuggle transporting items to a co-conspirator’s residence. After monitoring his behavior and determining that Tuggle’s drug involvement involved the distribution of over 20 kg of methamphetamine, officers obtained warrants and searched Tuggle’s house. Following the investigation, Tuggle was subsequently charged with “(1) a violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1) and (b)(1)(A) for conspiracy to distribute, and possess w/intent to distribute, at least 50 grams of methamphetamine and at least 500 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine, and (2) a violation of 21 U.S.C. § 856(a)(1) for maintaining drug-involved premises.”

Prior to his trial, Tuggle filed a motion against the use of the camera footage, arguing that the government’s lack of a warrant violated his Fourth Amendment rights. However, the district court disagreed, instead arguing that what took place did not amount to a ‘search.’ Undeterred, Tuggle filed twice more for motions to suppress, however, the district court maintained its position against the label of a ‘search’. As the trial loomed closer, Tuggle entered a guilty plea on the condition that he could appeal the denials of his motions to suppress in the future. After being dealt a concurrent 360 months and 240 months sentence in prison for Counts 1 and 2, respectively, Tuggle appealed once more, bringing his case to the 7th Circuit Court.

The 7th Circuit Court’s Decision

The Seventh Circuit Court upheld the lower court’s ruling that the warrantless use of the surveillance cameras in question was not unconstitutional as it did constitute a ‘search’ and therefore could not be in violation of the Fourth Amendment.

For his part, Tuggle argued that his Fourth Amendment rights were violated in 2 ways: first, by the usage of surveillance cameras without a warrant and second, by the prolonged time under the warrantless surveillance (18 months). While Tuggle posed 2 questions of his own, the circuit court articulated an ultimate inquiry of “[w]hat constitutes a search in a digital society whose technology empowers near-perfect surveillance without the need for physical touch?” [2]. To begin to answer this question and indeed to approach Tuggle’s case at large, the circuit court utilized the Katz test to assess if Tuggle had “exhibited an actual (subjective) expectation of privacy” and whether or not that “expectation be one that society is prepared to recognize as ‘reasonable’” [2].

For the first issue posed by Tuggle, the court was tasked with resolving the question of “Did the Fourth Amendment preclude law enforcement officers from the isolated use of pole cameras on public property without a warrant to observe Tuggle’s private home?” [2]. Tuggle questioned the legality of stationing cameras rather than physical officers, arguing that “[w]hile the ‘fruits’ of the pole cameras could have been achieved by traditional visual or physical surveillance, the use of technology change[d] the reasonableness of the expectation of privacy” [2]. The court’s response to this first question was a resounding no since what was recorded was in public view (there was no fence to shield his yard, nor his driveway – both of which were recorded). Without attempts to cover his property from public view, Tuggle, the court ruled, could not reasonably have had an expectation of privacy. Indeed, pulling from United States v. Knotts, the court cited the Supreme Court’s decision that “Nothing in the Fourth Amendment prohibit[s] the police from augmenting the sensory faculties bestowed upon them at birth with such enhancement as science and technology afforded them” [2]. The cameras did nothing extraordinary – like using thermal imaging to monitor the movement of Tuggle and others inside his residence – but rather they accomplished what could have conceivably been done with physical surveillance in such a way as to increase efficiency and decrease costs, not in one that was unconstitutional [3]. As noted in the court’s decision, there are certainly advantages to utilizing cameras in lieu of stationing officers that can enhance the surveillance capabilities of law enforcement. Firstly, cameras enable recording at all times and such recordings may be brightened to view overnight scenes with greater clarity. Secondly, law enforcement officers could – in real time – manipulate the camera lenses such that they could zoom in on individuals to more accurately identify them. Third, cameras allow for recordings to review in the future that can be especially helpful in not only obtaining (and retaining) evidence, but also in identification capabilities (of people and of suspicious activities). Lastly, and perhaps most importantly though not exhaustively, the cameras allowed law enforcement officers to monitor Tuggle’ residence without their physical positions and thus investigation at large being compromised [3]. Despite their many advantages, however, the cameras were not so great as for their activities to breach a line of constitutionality so as to be deemed engaging in ‘a search.’ Indeed, “the government used a commonplace technology, located where officers were lawfully entitled to be, and captured events observable to any ordinary passerby” [2].

Concerning Tuggle’s second question of the prolonged surveillance period, Tuggle attempted to apply the mosaic theory. However, the court rejected this, noting that the cameras only captured pieces of Tuggle’s life and daily movements centered around entrances, exits, and deliveries of and to the home rather than tracking his every movement [1].

As such, the circuit court affirmed the decision of the district court to deny Tuggle’s motion to suppress.

Looking to The Future

In a world in which technology will undoubtedly continue to advance, and as these new developments become incorporated into the average person’s daily life, the extent to which the public may view various surveillance as invasive mechanisms may decrease. With the changing landscape of public opinion, the Katz test – which relies greatly on common thought – may prove less effective in maintaining constitutional constraints and thus individual privacy [1]. Indeed, as the court noted, “Despite its best intentions, this expectations-based Katz test has paved the way for a perilous circularity for new technology,” going on to write, “As long as the government moves discreetly with the times, its use of advanced technologies will likely not breach society’s reconstituted (non)expectations of privacy. The upshot: the Katz test as currently interpreted may eventually afford the government ever-wider latitude over the most sophisticated, intrusive, and all-knowing technologies with lessening constitutional constraints” [2]. A future question may certainly be where to draw the line between what is excessive surveillance and what is constitutional camera (and other technology) usage.

The fight for the preservation of liberties in a technological age could most certainly be challenging without revisiting the Katz test and modernizing standards of ‘searches’ [2]. As for a solution, the 7th Circuit Court suggested potential legislative action(s), for if the decision were to remain at the level of the courts, “[b]arring a transformation in governing law, we expect this chronicle of cameras to repeat itself again and again with the evolution of far more invasive technologies” [2[.

Despite its decision that the camera usage involved in Tuggle’s case was not unconstitutional, the 7th Circuit Court provided a powerful caution towards the interplay between the societal acceptance of technology and the preservation (and even evolution of) Fourth Amendment rights.

Vientiane – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Skills Development and Employment Department (SDED) of Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MoLSW) organized a two-day training for radio professionals to enhance safe migration messaging efforts to rural populations. Modules covering the migration decision, human-trafficking, and recruitment process were delivered to 45 participants, including 28 radio staff from four provinces and Vientiane Capital where high migration flows are spotted. The interactive training set to strengthen broadcasters’ capacity in disseminating safe migration knowledge to migrants through the Lao National Radio, community radio stations, and community loudspeakers in Bolikhamxay, Khammouane, Salavan, and Sayabouly province. Houavue Yamak, a radio broadcaster for Hmong Language, found the training very useful as it was her first time learning about safe migration. “The session on job recruitment was particularly interesting for me, I will definitely share the knowledge at work, and with my friends and family,” she said. Limited access to information leaves people in remote areas sandwiched with neighbouring countries among the most vulnerable groups involving unsafe migration. Through capacity-building for broadcasters and safe migration radio programming, IOM’s Radio Communications Campaign provides a platform for people to receive information relevant to their needs and interests, share experience, and help them make informed decisions. “This radio programme plays a very important role in the efforts to inform migrants, including the marginalized and disadvantaged. We very much appreciate this collaboration between IOM, UNDP and the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare to address migrants’ vulnerabilities,” said Cuénod Jean-François, Regional Director of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), in his opening remarks. The workshop was a collaboration between IOM’s Poverty Reduction through Safe Migration, Skills Development and Enhanced Job Placement (PROMISE) project and UNDP’s Enhancing People’s Participation through Community Radio (EPPCR) program.
