09/11/2023-Winchester and bits at home

Pictures taken in this set: 1. Snowberry in Abbey Gardens which was lovely to see. 2. A delightful Robin which it was joyful to see intimately as it flitted around the benches including the one I was sat on and railings, always a pleasurable experience seeing them. 3. Fuchsia at the River Itchen which looked nice. 4. A nice mushroom at the River Itchen which was good to see. 5 and 7. Gorgeous and immersive scenes with yellow autumn leaves which was great to see. 6. Abbey Gardens. 8. Looking up at Winchester Cathedral, it was lovely to see the poppy display as well as a Silent Soldier near some nice red autumn leaves elsewhere in town this lunch time. 9. Flowers. 10. A Grey Squirrel at the River Itchen, I saw one at Abbey Gardens too.

Today it was also good to see white deadnettle by Lakeside, cornflower and nice bits of herb-Robert at the river, yellow fumitory in Abbey Gardens, tutsan flowers and berries which looked nice at the cathedral, beautiful holly and firethorn berries of such a ripe red, old man's beard in the Royal Hampshire Regiment Museum grounds, Blackbird in Abbey Gardens, Carrion Crow and Jackdaw flying towards Lakeside this morning with Carrion Crow seen from the office too and a wasp in Abbey Gardens. It was nice to see Grey Silverfish before bed last night and spiders including fine views of Long-bodied Cellar spiders at home tonight and get exciting views of Collared Doves including one calling and chasing off another as well as Starlings piling onto the roof visible from my room with a hint of pink from sunrise in the sky behind them.

Hey there, ppl. I need some help with my jelly. I am making pyracantha jelly and just finished cooking it in water. But it taste bitter af and I don't know what to do, my first ideas was to throwing it in the bin, but I said "I should ask maybe", so here I am. The last time I didn't have this problem. Some of the berries had black spots, is that mold? I'm not familiar with the plant as a cooking ingredient bc is not native from here. If someone can help me with this I would be really grateful of them.

08/12/2023-Lakeside and home

Photos taken in this set are of: 1. A beautiful Magpie in the sun out the back. 2. The seed heads of the flower bed area on the way to Lakeside including yarrow and wild carrot seed heads which looked stunning in the sun. 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9. Views on a lovely lunch time walk with elegant winter scenes of soft sunlight illuminating the bare branches, revealing mistletoe, with a small bit of autumnal colour still shining in the landscape which is the case at home too. 7. Turkey tail at Lakeside, striking and pretty fungi on wood. 10. A spider at home this evening.

Exhilarating views of eyecatching Green Woodpecker in the bowl area was a glorious birdwatching moment on the walk. The harsh cackle of Jay and gentle trickle of Wren greeted me nicely. Other highlights on the walk were a big Carrion Crow, Jackdaws, Magpie, Woodpigeon, Blackbird, Mallard, Coot and Great Crested Grebe. Wild carrot in flower still going strong along the northern path, teasel seed heads and cotoneaster, hawthorn and firethorn berries with their varied ruby shades were nice plants seen at Lakeside. Rose hips, Long-bodied Cellar Spider, Carrion Crow and Jackdaw on the roof out the back as well as the Magpie, Goldfinches, Collared Dove and Starlings were nice to see at home today.
