Ripley, blankly: I didn’t think anybody was listening… I only said those prayers to cheer my friends up…

Ridiculous idea time!
Are we sure Bhaal inherited his divinity from Jergal, and didn't get any from Moander at any stage?
Moander was a plant-like deity of rot and decay, back in Netheril, referred to by holy texts as "it" and was supposedly it was slain in the Time of Troubles by the young demipower Finder Wyvernspur. Being the god of slow rotting death, it didn't have much in common with Bhaal before his depiction in BG3. Also we're missing out on a lot of the "mind controling plant parasite" part, but, uh...
"a corrupt isolation of one part of the whole cycle of birth, death, and renewal, an obsessive focus on the descending edge of the circle of life." _
"Minions of the Darkbringer were charged to feed Great Moander with fresh corpses of their own making." -
"Slay, and let rot cover all." -
The whole world should die, actually -
The fact that said god places fragments of itself in its followers, which allows it to seize control of them or kill them at will at any time. -
Church attracts "nihilists who saw all of existence as а сопstant decay toward death."
...we're sure Bhaal hasn't absorbed the ancient horror's essence, right? Or vice versa? Bhaal did you get a parasitic plant alien embedded in your brain during your time in the Astral Sea?
Might account for the breeding thing since Moander was all about spreading itself like mould and consuming the world…
(For the record, I don't actually think Moander is involved, but it did make me go "what if".)

Edgin Darvis: Son of Tymora and Finder Wyvernspur.
Cause Tymora's domain is luck; she's cheerful, not very combat focused, and adventurers often pray to her.
Finder was an ascended mortal, given divinity; he started as a bard, his domains are greed, chaos, charm, pride--you see where I'm going, yes?
So maybe Ed's not a deity; maybe he's just a man with a little extra nudge. Maybe he's a Bardic Heracles.

Inktober 10/25: Tasty
Kharon was an excellent bartender, one of the things that made him excellent was his ability to make surprise drinks. People would often ask him to surprise them, and Kharon would make an uncommon drink within their price range. He didn’t know a lot about himself, like where his knowledge of alcohol came from, but he was grateful to have it. It certainly made his job easier. What didn’t make his job easier was the high profile clients that came to his bar.
One of these high profile clients, was Finder Wyvernspur, a demigod who delighted in bar atmospheres and accepting the evolution of music. Apparently he traveled to many bars, as Kharon found out after doing a bit of internet research, just so he could hear new musicians play at the venues. True enough, Finder would only show up during show nights, where one band or another was performing. It wasn’t wasn’t often, it only actually happened about once a month, which was just enough time in between for Kharon to be surprised when Finder entered the building.
Not unlike any other night Finder was visiting, Kharon felt himself stuck a moment when he approached the bar. Taking in a deep breath through his nose, Kharon settled his nerves and smiled.
“Welcome back, Harris. What can I do for you tonight?” Harris was Finder’s name of choice in chosen form. He would appear as a human male, but the stories he had told Kharon over time was enough to key Kharon in on his true identity with a bit of extra searching.
Finder smiled at Kharon, sitting before him on an empty barstool. “How about you surprise me tonight, Kharon.”
Ah. He had to surprise a demigod. Wonderful. No pressure. This just had to be perfect. Kharon’s smile went stiff for a second before he turned away to look over the alcohol available to him. “Something fruity? Something bitter? Spicy? Sweet? Expensive? Cheap?”
“You know I’m feeling adventurous, I’ll try furity, anything goes for price.”
“I’ll see what I can do.”
Kharon slowly began preparing a red death. There were a few different ways to make this drink, but as he knew it he combined quite a few liquors with orange juice topping with an orange slice on the edge of the glass. The liquours were layered into a collins glass, with the sloe gin being the last before the orange juice. The sloe gin made the top of the liquor mixture a muted red color, which mingled with the juice. The red and orange swirling liquid settled as a layer on top of the rest of the liquor, creating a stunning beverage. It was almost too pretty to drink. Kharon sat the drink in front of Finder on a napkin.
“A red death, enjoy, Harris.”
Finder smiled and took the glass, examining the mixture inside before sipping. His eyes lit up and he pulled the glass away to grin at Kharon. “It’s very tasty! I shouldn’t be surprised, your drinks always are.”
Kharon gave a bit more of a genuine smile. “Thanks. Enjoy the show, Harris.”
Another grin was shared with Kharon before Finder turned to watch the band. He would definitely be asking for more surprises in his visits to come.

Deity Project Progress: 1/X
As I said earlier, I succeeded at completing a deity entry (and made two relevant subdomains). This one was particularly easy because I already had in mind to do something a bit different with the mercane (formerly arcane) and witchwyrds, so this gives me a starting point.
Deity - Rhabdomûl
Keeper of the Final Vault, Merchants' Friend
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Gender: Vaguely masculine (as much as mercane or witchwyrds display gender at all)
Areas of Concern: Exchange, trade, mercantilism, reciprocity, appraisal
Domains/Subdomains: Community, Law, Protection, Travel, Void; Appraisal (Travel),* Cooperation, Exploration, Honor (Law instead of Glory), Trade, Vault (Protection)*
Symbols: A hand (palm upward or outward) holding a coin, animals with hands or grasping limbs (e.g., monkeys, squirrels, octopodes), gold and silver (especially as accent colors)
Rhabdomûl is the divine embodiment of the mercane and witchwyrd races' drives to travel and exchange. To the deity, the act of exchange itself has value as the simplest, fairest, and most effective memes of attending to individual needs while also promoting peace. Followers of Rhabdomûl hold that trust, more than altruism or profit, is the most important virtue in exchange. As such, they view exploitative acts like theft to be abhorrent and uphold the work of bankers as sacred. Rhabdomûl appears as an ostentatiously garbed mercane or witchwyrd and is known to travel the cosmos like others of those races; it is said that the deity's personal secret chest, the Final Vault, contains treasures beyond mortal imaginings.
The name is not set in stone; it started as an anagram of Abadar, incorporated rhabdos (Greek, "rod, staff, wand") because it sounded similar, and added an ending. I'm going to workshop it with my table.
This is not going to be the final iteration of this deity. I tailored this version for my current table, which includes a libertarian capitalist (the shop owner) and someone I suspect to hold similar values (the player). Thus, I went for rocking the boat the least I could and just made the Platonic Ideal of the Mercane. For my own setting, the race's attitude will emphasize exchange as the proper means of engaging in mutual aid rather than necessarily as a means for profit and the deity may or may not remain (but if so will get a much more detailed personality).

I’m interested in crafting an adventure centered around the god Moander, but I’m not sure if he’s still dead Hey Ed! I’m interested in crafting an adventure centered around the god Moander, but I’m not sure if he’s still dead as of the Second Sundering or not, and the current status of Finder Wyvernspur.
