SPOILER FOR FF16 RISING TIDE
Tumblr media
WIP! Cuz I think he should have gotten to hold bebe Waljas longer (and proper. Clive you should KNOW you gotta support the head!)
I'm still debating whether to go for a more painterly approach (no lineart) or more semi-realistic

Clive: We have a god to kill. Any suggestions? Jill: You, Joshua, and Dion go to Origin while I stay behind for health reasons that apply to me but somehow do not apply to Dion. Not to mention, I'd have been another powerful ally, and if you failed, I and everyone else would be dead anyway. Clive: That's an awful idea. I am taking suggestions from everyone but Jill now. Dion: I fly us to Origin, and when Ultima threatens your life, I shall sacrifice myself to save Joshua so that he can rescue you, even if Ultima would not have really killed you, and we'd actually be better off dodging instead of tanking their attack. Clive: A terrible plan. I am now currently taking suggestions from everyone but Jill and Dion. Joshua: Instead of forming Ifrit Risen and dealing with Ultima together while one of them is still imprisoned within me, I wait for them to break open my chest first and then I surrender the Phoenix to you and die in dramatic fashion. Clive: Ugh. I am no longer taking suggestions.

So Rising Tide is coming and (sadly) Joshua looks like he's the kicked party member to let Shula in.
Square, if you're going to do that to the man you must do 1 of these 3 things:
1. The man needs a vacation.
Let his tiddies out like all the rest of the male cast. Bonus points of he gets a plus one invite for a hideaway companion. Let him lay on a beach for 2 days in the sun and bake Ultima in his chest prison until the waterspout from Leviathan makes him move to the tiki bar.
2. Give this man an ancient library.
Sorry guys, but please fuck off while I read all of these beautiful books and steep myself in this new culture and research Ultima. Yeah I'll just take a glass of water, I don't need food or sleep, I need answers!
3. Stick this man with the B cast, annoy him as much as possible, but give him some pretty ancient ruins to study so that he's happy.
Famiel is definitely from this place, he's gotta be, so, force Joshua to lead him and his dimwits around.
Joshua: Clive! I want to go see the temple PLEASE!?
Clive: I want to fight a tonberry first!
Shula: These idiots can show you the temple!
Famiel and his friends: We can show you the temple!
Joshua: (sigh) Of course you can. Founder help me.
[Joshua must now constantly protect three idiots in a hostile ruin, meanwhile Famiel thinks he's getting them all out on brainpower alone, queue snarky Joshua]

FFVII Rebirth and FFXVI
Final Fantasy 16 is definitely the better game for me. I love FFVII Rebirth/7s story and characters and Zack but I never ever want to look at Box throwing in Chapter 11 ever again. The robot sock em game was hard as heck too in chapter 9and that one minigame underground where you had to destroy boxes but the box throwing just murdered my enthusiasm for the game lol. I finally beat it woot! and other than maybe replaying some chapters for scenes or if I feel like playing Queens blood out of nowhere, I can safely never look at this game again for a long time as the only reason to play it is how much I do love the characters and scenes. But as a game I love the game game but oof I do not like minigames. I hate minigames (but full credit to Queens Blood, while I was not in the mood to ever play it it at least seems like it could be fun and to play after the story, I wanted to do the story first) and chocobo racing and the card game are the only fun ones. And box throwing was the most janky frustrating unnecessary experience that almost made me quit the game and a tiny step away from if I didn't get it the second day of attempting it. WHo came up with that I want to have words. Meanwhile FF16 is underrated and complained about side quests (stares at FF Rebirth minigames and quests) except these actually have purpose and lore and (good news for those who have no patiece now have a transport button because so dang lazy when you finish, which will be nice for those Mid Quests though). Also once I got past Leviathan which also almost had me quit because of the third phase barrier and also one of the most horrific experiences dying god knows how many times over multiple days and seeing the tsunami scene and feeling the rage of Leviathan myself, well it finally was ooh this is good. It almost made me quit in frustration too. Whoever put the timer on that shield is evil as its way too fast and you have to play pretty much perfect and pull off the triple spitflare and triple brimstones to do it. And of course do the specific move set combo (or be really good at back drafts and perfect dodges then payback which is another level) that does get through it I finally got through it. It was infinitely worse than phase 4 for me which I only died a few times on and thank goodness you didn't have to do phase 3 again. Phase 4 really is frantic and I did die 3 times but after the rage of phase 3 it was a miracle blessing and so much more preferable and easy. It's really funny to me when people say phase 3 was easy and phase 4 was hard. It's brutal damage yeah but my experience was unless you're doing it from a it's only hard because its near impossible to do a take no damafge run, it's not nearly as bad as an experience as getting game overed over and over and over and over and over and over and over because of a stupid dps shield and near impssible to get in the time. Also this was from hell and again also wonder who thought this was okay especially the time being so dang tight and this was the team that made the game easier to be more inclusive, then just went alright let's Make Leviathan main dlc part horrendous. I understand they went full out on Kairos gate which okay fair its not mandatory, but main completion wise who thought Leviathan battle was reasonable lol? I speculate it probably had to be at least 30+ times of game overs over two days of just phase 3. One of the worst experiences but once i did it it was ahhhhhhhhhHHHH!!!! Hallelujah.
And I hate that even then the stupid box throwing was more on a frustrating level than that just because of how freaking stupid it is in comparison contextually and made me closer to quitting the game than Leviathan. Because at least i got the Leviathan Eikon. But I had to see the end and get everything else and such and I finally did it investment. Possibly also because I saw the main game end, It wasn't as big a loss if I wouldn't be able to do it (except I really wanted to) so could feel better affording multiple days despite Leviathan rage of my own seeing that game over screen. The box throwing was plot mandatory to get through the main game. I hate minigames that are outside of normal game play, and especially mandatory ones like this.
Also, Clive getting the power of god and being able to pllay the game with divine god clive mode is full worth it. This makes it one of the best games ever because now not only do you god mode in terms of strength and damage, but Clive using the powers of the Divine is so freaking power thrill and worth that suffering. FF16 was already one of my favorite games (except for the dps shield monsters that almost made me quit in the playthroughs Bahamut and Leviathan) as well as the most frustrating but I was so invested and got through and yeah I just love Clive and all the characters so much. And blessed be FF16 for not having minigames. (Though they could have reasonably put chocobo racing in and probably the only one I would like and would fit the setting) (Ultimaniac or the trials do not count as minigames are not normal game play things) Except Kairos Gate-that is evil. There was no reason to make it mandatory to do a whole 20 circle of hell straight gauntlet of the abyss where losing once makes you have to start from the beginning. I managed beat it in my adventure mode but it was close especially the last circles and yeah the horror pressure of if you lose. And on Fantasy mode? Horrific. I'm scared. I got to circle 7 currently.

They should totally show us more of Clive holding babies or handling children in general, he has those safe-protective-big-bro vibes going on. I bet he gives THE best hugs.
First time trying to draw something - uh. Semi-realistic at least on my in digital! I can see a lot of potential there still (I'm saying this nicely XD) but I think there are points which turned out well. I'm semi-happy with the semi-realism!

FF16 Rising Tide spoilers (slight):
I love how whenever there are children or babies involved, Clive immediately switches into what I call his „big brother mode“. His patience becomes near endless, and he gets this slightly soft, amused air - unless the child is putting themselves or others in danger, then he puts his foot down. But even then, he rarely goes loud, just firm.
I think whoever wrote him has experience being an older sibling lol
