Been thinking a lot about the Starwake System's learning and intellectual disabilities and honestly, I am very glad we ended up keeping them instead of making them highly intelligent. Mainly because it'd be nice to have a character who experiences them, having these ourselves, and we never see any characters in medias or roleplay communities with them, but it is also realistic to how the Starwake System grew up and was initially raised that significantly impacted their adaptive and Intellectual functionings.
They were constantly going between foster homes with rare to no opportunities to learn and explore around them, and in certain abusive foster families, they were even discouraged to do and ask things that could help them understand the world more. As a result, the system as a whole were slow learners while they had challenges in processing and understanding the information that they're given. They struggled a lot in social settings such as school with their poor academic and communication skills.
Micah is still downhearted that their intellectual and learning disabilities, along with their amnesia, prevents them from accomplishing their first dream of working in the astronomy field and getting to be an astronaut like their father, or even at least work with aeronautics. These areas are too advanced for them to understand most aspects of them in depth, as they most struggle in subjects of general sciences and especially mathematics, having a lot of difficulties with number-based information.
As well as at times, Micah experiences self-hatred and suicidal thoughts from having them. There is a sense of worthlessness and helplessness that they often feel while they think having these disabilities holds them back from getting so many opportunities and knowledges. Despite the anxiety and uncertainty by being slow at learning and understand, however, Micah does always try their best to be curious and adventurous. This builds into their continuous high desire to learn it all.
With the Starwake System having those disabilities, it is one of the details that makes it easy for people, speaking as some characters and people in the audience, to diminish Micah while downgrading their overall skills and perceptions. But what some forget is Micah is highly observant and analytic. They notice and know details that many people do not, and with various experiences that they gained across many life domains, they're often quick to make valuable notes and comprehensive analysis.
Micah doesn't like when people think that they gain more advantages simply because of their disabilities ( or any other traits and conditions that one may seem weak ). It's pitiful to them, and they won't be callous or confrontative about it if they see they are being seen lowly or taken benefits from, but Micah won't hesitate to give them a reminder of what they're more than capable of doing and handling. At the least they would see themself deserving to have a spark of pride after giving another a surprise that the other could never expect of receiving from them.

Hnnnnngh anxious but hopeful!
A recruiter reached out to my partner about a local job opportunity, but he's fine where he is so he directed them to me - and they'd actually already looked into me / tried to reach me (through my... old website oops) and I never got that message.
Anyway, talked to the recruiter, updated my resume, sent that, plus a bunch of writing samples because the job is Content Director (fancy) and I just
Aaaaa I don't even really want to continue working in an agency setting it Sucks a little BUT my current job is. Sucking my soul out of me. I've got so little left to give. And I just need to have something New. So I'm really... really hoping this works out. And is a good fit and a good place and I'm less stressed and burnt out and depressed and uninspired lol

You know, seeing this, I will never understand why people think he has a different car, or a shittier set up or that he lost his magic. He's still the great driver he is and has the same spec car as Lando or he wouldn't be matching his race pace.
Quali: P18, P12, P7, P6, P6, P14, P9
Has he had shitty quali sessions and horrible luck with a few moments during a race (saudi, imola) that then pretty much meant getting stuck to the back of the grid or in a drs train and not being able to progress? Yes. But everywhere other than Spain he literally matched Lando, starting further down usually than his team mate did.
So when are we stopping the agenda of a different car and horrible tactics from the team just to sabotage him? We all know Quali isn't one of his strength, it has never been. But he's a mega driver who will find great pace and lines during a race. And without good tactics (even tho yes, sometimes they go wrong, like they go wrong for everyone) he wouldn't be then up where his team mate is but would rather be stuck where he started.

Anyway while we're on the subject of public misconception towards living things (which is completely understandable because have you SEEN living things? There's like dozens of them!) here's a fresh rundown of some common mistakes about bugs!
Arachnids aren't just spiders! They're also scorpions, mites, ticks and some real weirdos out there
Insects with wings are always finished growing! Wings are the last new thing they ever develop! There can never be a "baby bee" that's just a smaller bee flying around.
That said, not all insects have larvae! Many older insect groups do look like little versions of adults....but the wings rule still applies.
Insects do have brains! Lobes and everything!
Only the Hymenoptera (bees, ants and wasps) have stingers like that.
Not all bees and wasps live in colonies with queens
The only non-hymenoptera with queens are termites, which is convergent evolution, because termites are a type of cockroach!
There are still other insects with colonial lifestyles to various degrees which can include special reproductive castes, just not the whole "queen" setup.
Even ants still deviate from that; there are multi-queen ant species, some species where the whole colony is just females who clone themselves and other outliers
There is no "hive mind;" social insects coordinate no differently from schools of fish, flocks of birds, or for that matter crowds of humans! They're just following the same signals together and communicating to each other!
Not all mosquito species carry disease, and not all of them bite people
Mosquitoes ARE ecologically very important and nobody in science ever actually said otherwise
The bite of a black widow is so rarely deadly that the United States doesn't bother stocking antivenin despite hundreds of reported bites per year. It just feels really really bad and they give you painkillers.
Recluse venom does damage skin, but only in the tiny area surrounding the bite. More serious cases are due to this dead skin inviting bacterial infection, and in fact our hospitals don't carry recluse antivenin either; they just prescribe powerful antibiotics, which has been fully effective at treating confirmed bites.
Bed bugs are real actual specific insects
"Cooties" basically are, too; it's old slang for lice
Crane flies aren't "mosquito hawks;" they actually don't eat at all!
Hobo spiders aren't really found to have a dangerous bite, leaving only widows and recluses as North America's "medically significant" spiders
Domestic honeybees actually kill far more people than hornets, including everywhere the giant "murder" hornet naturally occurs.
Wasps are only "less efficient" pollinators in that less pollen sticks to them per wasp. They are still absolutely critical pollinators and many flowers are pollinated by wasps exclusively.
Flies are also as important or more important to pollination than bees.
For "per insect" pollination efficiency it's now believed that moths also beat bees
Honeybees are non-native to most of the world and not great for the local ecosystem, they're just essential to us and our food industry
Getting a botfly is unpleasant and can become painful, but they aren't actually dangerous and they don't eat your flesh; they essentially push the flesh out of the way to create a chamber and they feed on fluids your immune system keeps making in response to the intrusion. They also keep this chamber free of bacterial infection because that would harm them too!
Botflies also exist in most parts of the world, but only one species specializes partially in humans (and primates in general, but can make do with a few other hosts)
"Kissing bugs" are a group of a couple unusual species of assassin bug. Only the kissing bugs evolved to feed on blood; other assassin bugs just eat other insects.

@ ALL RISE FANS THAT MAKE COMICS & STORIES
So I’ve noticed that in this fandom it’s common to include Deaf/ASL-using-characters into stories, which is honestly AMAZING and makes me SO HAPPY TO SEE, but many of us aren’t deaf we rely on resources, therefore:
My ASL teacher gave us this website cause it’s updates constantly (ASL evolves lots) and it’s a lot more accurate and reliable than just google :))
To work it- type the word, and a word bank will pull up, click on the term u want and a video/description of the sign and word will appear!!!
It’s rlly simple and has most words and if it doesn’t it’s bc it’s finger spelled probs!!!!
If u want more in-depth good grammar, search up “five parameters ASL”, “glossing in ASL” and watch a few videos to see “how sentence structure differs in ASL”
As always, remember it’s ok to make mistakes/notice a mistake, just be mindful and kind :D most of us aren’t out for malice and if someone is it’ll probs be very obv 😭
Happy Creating!!
Edit: A THANK U SO MUCH FOR THE REBLOGS :)) if anyone ever needs any help drop a comment or look at other reblogs!! There’s lot of other resources/tips there!!!
