Did anyone else get a lot of A.Z. FELL & Co. vibes from The Lost Bookshop? The way the bookshop was clearly alive and conspired about the people in its vicinity, the way it was capable of way more power than expected, the way it had whimsical little trinkets and odd books in so many places. (And especially in how it forced people to read specific books.)

It would be a fantastic au for an Ineffable Husbands fanfic.

The Girl Who Fell Beneath The Sea

It's a bit late but this month's book of the month is The Girl Who Fell Beneath The Sea by Axie Oh. We're not having a meeting today so I thought I'd share some of my thoughts. (light spoilers)

I'm only on page 90 so I can't really say much but this book is a fun fantasy experience that has reminded me of a lot of other works, namely Forest of a Thousand Lanterns, The Little Mermaid, Spirited Away, and Coco. I love the cultural influence and otherworldly vibes, but I have to say some of the relationships the mc has are sudden and should be developed more. That's all for now!

the last chapter creeped me tf out i don't ever wanna see that laboratory again what the heck

RIGHT?? i honestly loved how creeped out i was because it felt like genuine horror. i mean i don't think i was ever this creeped out by anything in the actual horror books in the app. it was just so chilling and everything blended together to capture the atmosphere perfectly?? from the backgrounds to the music to the characters and their dialogue UGH IT WAS SO GOOD

the story behind the lab and the plot line of what the vicar plans to do with psionics in the future was the real horror for me though like i was genuinely just. heartbroken all throughout i really can't remember the last time anything in rc got me so moved on a genuinely emotional level
