Whenever I hear that a movie is getting a sequel, I question what exactly do they mean by a "sequel." If they mean as a film, that's when I'm a bit cautious.
Sometimes, they end up packing too much into a film's runtime when it can work better as a TV series/miniseries to allow more breathing space to fully tell the story.
Or, they just end up padding the story because the actual content for it is too short to be a feature film, but it can work as a short film or featurette.
I have no problem if you want to expand upon the first work. That's good if you want to further explore the characters, have more worldbuilding, or answer questions that were set up in the original but I just think it's important to know WHICH way you best want to tell a good story.
