Let me be delulu for a moment and pretend this is confirmation for foodie Dankworth. I've been wanting to know what his special food related interest was for forever. He's gotta balance out his other foodie brother in-laws.

As someone who finds Anthony Bridgerton super relatable from a fed-up-eldest-sibling perspective. I want Julia Quinn to just give me a novella of Anthony descent into ultimate insanity from book 1 to 8
My Family an 8 book series by Anthony Bridgerton
Book 1: My best friend the traumatized Duke and my sister the one with the dubious understanding of the rules of consent and how they apply to baby making
Book 2: Falling inlove with Kate hoping my siblings absolutely do not follow my example of dumbassery, because even if my bad decisions are legendary I'm still right about all of them being idiots
Book 3: never make the mistake of thinking a sibling is well adjusted. Next thing you know he's seduced a maid, gone crying to mommy about his relationship issues and proposed to someone in jail
Book 4: Surviving Mr Bridgerton, lessons from my dumbass brother on how to end up as both lady Whistledown's sugar baby and Portia Featherington's son in law in one masterful session of stalking
Book 5: to sir Phillip with my apologies, how my sister managed to brainwash a man and two kids into naming her as their leader and I accidentally punched an innocent single dad for something that was wholy Eloise fault !
Book 6: The quiet one strikes back, see my most normal sister ruin her track record of cero scandals by bringing the Merry rake into the family. Using the excuse that what happens in Scotland stays in Scotland.
Book 7: felonies my little sister may need a lawyer for in her journey towards true love, breaking and entering, stealing private property, and the usual bribing of servants.
Book 8: I AM SO DONE. So Watch how Kate deals with my little brother's one man mission to top the entire family's track record for Mad shenanigans. While I comfortably hide in my study and scream.

Fic: Never You (Polin) - Part 6
Fandom: Bridgerton (TV show)
Spoilers: S3 released scenes.
Summary: They may have been friends once but his callous words decimated their relationship. Determined not to have anything to do with him, Penelope is ready to move on. But Colin isn’t giving up, not at all. Friends or not, they are connected for life - and he intends to remind her of that.
Excerpt:
“You would hate me for not wanting to court you. You would be that selfish?”
“Of course you would think that.”
“What else is this if not punishment?”
Masterlist (contains links to previous parts and my other stories)
Chapter 6
Dearest Penny,
I hope this letter finds you well.
My journey home was perilous and took far too long. However, I did receive good news upon my arrival. Mother was awake in bed, the worst of her illness having passed recently. It will still take a few weeks but the doctor is confident she will recover fully. I have told her a lot about you. As I predicted, she is excited to meet you.
I miss you. I remind myself it’s only a matter of time before we can start our new life together, full of adventure and laughter, but it still feels too long.
Once my affairs are settled, I will be traveling to London to see you. I know your Mama will not take kindly to me but I hope to win her over with my intelligence and wit (I’m envisioning the mocking smile on your lips as I write this).  If all else fails, I shall win her approval through jewelry, as you suggested. Hopefully that will alleviate her concerns about an untitled son-in-law.
Love,
Arthur.
Penelope read the letter again, smiling to herself. While she and Arthur could converse for hours, his letters tended to be short and to the point. And though they lacked a writer’s flair, his letters still felt distinctly like him and she appreciated that.
With other men she was shy and tongue-tied, and they were never interested in her anyway, but Arthur Debling had been different. At a dinner gathering in Ayleshire, it was he who had approached her, and once she got over her initial shyness the conversation flowed between them. Perhaps it was because he was a merchant and not a member of nobility, but from the very beginning he treated her with respect and a matter-of-fact stance rarely displayed by others. To him she wasn’t some woman in desperate hunt for a husband or an awkward, shy wallflower to be avoided at all times. She was Penelope Featherington and she was enough.
For the first few weeks there had been no romantic intentions, they simply talked of art and poetry. Over time she came to see he possessed a brilliant scientific mind that he went out of his way to hide. Only when she questioned him did he finally admit he was embarrassed of his intelligence and felt the need to dampen his curious mind from others. That was the first night she started to see him in a different light.
“Penelope!”
The sound of Mama's voice brought Penelope out of her reverie. After hiding the letter, she made her way toward her mother’s chamber in the opposite corner of the hallway. Portia was already dressed for bed and brushing her hair when Penelope entered the room. “Yes, Mama?”
The older woman cast her a quick glance in the mirror. “Lady Violet has invited us for tea tomorrow afternoon.”
Pen paused. Tea at the Bridgertons meant seeing Eloise and perhaps even Colin. “I will be in-”
“And before you come down with a sudden case of illness, I will remind you that personal invitations of this nature have been rare of late. We can not afford to turn down any, let alone the Bridgertons.”
Between the Marina scandal and then Cousin Jack, there were many who no longer wished to associate with the Featheringtons. While that was a relief for Pen, she knew the slow exclusion really hurt Portia even if she did hide the pain behind a mask of angry condescension.
“Yes, Mama. I understand.”
“Good. Now get some sleep, child. I will not have you looking haggard tomorrow.”
Penelope sauntered back to her chamber, her mind still reeling. No doubt Eloise would be present and angry with her. Would she at least pretend to be polite? Pen didn’t know. So far they had mostly avoided each other, except for the ball last week when Eloise had warned her to stay away from Colin.
After entering the chamber, she was busy locking the door when a noise startled her.
“Pen.”
Colin’s throaty growl made her gasp, her body suddenly taut.
Hesitant, she turned around.
It had been two days since she last saw him at the park. And now he was here in her chamber, shamelessly sitting at the edge of her bed. Hair tousled, clothes messy and disheveled, he stared at her intently. His face was unshaven, revealing a stubble growth of a day or two. Instead of taking away from his looks, however, it only emphasized his handsomeness more.
Her heart started pounding in her chest, both from the anger that flooded through her veins and the knowledge that his hold upon her was still so potent. “How did you get in here?” she asked, keeping her voice steady so he couldn’t sense how much his presence unnerved her.
“I climbed up the tree and through the window.”
As if violating her privacy was a daily occurrence for him.
“You’re so very determined to ruin me, aren’t you?”
“I was careful. No one saw me.”
“Well, that makes it alright then.”
“I didn’t take you as the sarcastic sort, Pen.”
“Add it to the growing list of things you don’t know about me.”
He didn’t respond, his eyes locked with hers.
The silence between them grew more tense by the second while they held still, as if a single movement could ignite a fire that would burn them both.
And then he stood up. “Do you know why I’m here, Pen?”
There was a button missing from his waistcoat, dirt on his breeches, and he had never looked more beautiful than he did at that moment. Her heart flipflopped in her chest. “I don’t care. I simply want you to leave.”
A bitter smile shadowed his lips. “Because it’s that easy for you, isn’t it? You’ve moved on already.”
“Yes.” The strength in her voice surprised even her when all she felt was anxiety twisting up her insides. “It’s time you do the same.”
“Don’t you think I’ve tried? That I’ve been trying?” Anger laced his words, hurt etched onto his face. “You don’t want to have anything to do with me yet I can’t imagine a single moment of my life without you. Why is that, Pen?”
With a slow and deliberate gait, he swaggered forward.
“Why can’t I stop thinking about you? Your voice, your smile, your taunts...” He tapped the side of his temple erratically, eyes heavy with emotion. “Always in my fucking mind, refusing to give me even one moment of peace. You’ve been torturing me!"
With every step that drew him closer, waves of madness surged through her body. She didn’t want to feel like this, like her mind and body were completely out of her control.
“Why is this happening to me, Pen?” His voice cracked. “Why do I feel this way?” He clutched his heart, his long, lean fingers rubbing the spot over his waistcoat repeatedly. “It didn’t used to be like this, I was fine before! But now I think about you leaving me and it’s like I can’t breathe. Like a part of me will be lost forever.”
Her eyes softened. The man standing in front of her wasn’t the one who broke her heart. In his place was her dear friend, the boy she had known her entire life and loved for as long, and he was pleading for her help. “That empty feeling will go away, Colin. I promise.” She took a furtive step toward him. “You’ve only just returned, your life probably feels untethered with everything changing around you. But give it time, let yourself settle in, and things will be better.”
He stopped in his tracks. “Nothing will ever be the same without you.”
“It will, I promise.” She sent him a sad smile. “You will meet someone beautiful and kind, and she will be everything you ever wanted. The true love of your life. And this sadness that you feel right now will become a distant memory.”
A beat of silence followed as he contemplated her words.
Would the agonizing pain that coursed through her at the thought of him with another woman ever lessen? She didn’t know. Maybe with time and distance she would be free of this curse, but for now he was still very much embedded in her soul and the eventual reality of him falling in love made her want to retch.
“Is that what you think will happen for you, Pen? You’ll marry this Arthur and make me a distant memory?”
There was no outward change in him yet she immediately sensed the shift within.
He cocked his eyebrow. “Do you think I will let that happen?”
She stared at him defiantly as he approached her. “You have no say in my life.”
“But I do, Pen.” The glint in his gaze sharpened, making his blue eyes appear even darker. “Because it’s me you’re in love with. It’s me you swore never to forsake.” He came to a stop in front of her, forcing her to look up at him. “I intend to hold you to that.”
Her anger returned. “And I intend to fight you. Because I will not sacrifice my future to appease your selfishness.”
“I know,” he sighed, regret looming over his face. “I should never have asked you to do that. But that’s why I’m here, Pen. I want to make things right between us.”
Her demand to know how died on her lips as soon as he retrieved something out of the pocket of his waistcoat. Stunned, she stood frozen as he held out an emerald ring, one she recognized right away from having seen Lady Violet wear it occasionally.
“My father gifted this to my mother on their tenth anniversary.” There was reverence in his voice as he spoke. “I think he chose it especially for the colour. It’s remarkable, isn’t it?”
She swallowed, nodding. “Yes, it’s beautiful.”
“This has always been my favourite of mother’s jewelry. I knew one day I would gift it to my wife.”
Her mind went blank.
“And maybe now is that time.” He bent down on one knee in front of her, holding up the ring. “Will you marry me, Penelope Featherington?”
Time stopped.
For so long all she wanted was to be Colin’s wife. In her mind marrying him meant she would finally be happy and fulfilled. He would be the perfect husband, and she would be a member of the happy and loving Bridgerton family at last. All her dreams would finally be realized.
Except she wasn’t happy or even excited. The man she loved was on his knees, proposing to her, and all she could think about was how wrong it all felt. The proposal didn’t come from a place of love. No. Instead it was borne out of fear and a stubborn refusal to grow up. A last resort so he didn’t have to face losing their friendship.
Then there was Arthur. With him she didn’t have to hide, she could be who she truly was and not have to apologize for it. And she could continue to write, whether that be as Lady Whistledown, someone new or even herself, and do so without shame or regret.
Colin may have been her lifelong dream but that didn’t mean she couldn’t have new ones. And with Arthur, the life she wanted was within her grasp. A true possibility rather than simple fantasy.
Immediately she felt a sense of peace, knowing she was doing the right thing for herself.  “I’ve already said this to you before. I’m betrothed to another.”
In one fluid motion he slid the ring back into his pocket before rising to his full height. He had always towered over her but that had never intimidated her before. For the first time she felt a small twinge of fear percolating in her stomach, realizing the stark darkness on his face was also new.
He was quiet, too quiet, stalking her every move with his eyes, slowly pushing forward. A predator enjoying the rituals of the hunt, preparing his prey for the kill. Instinctively she retreated, moving back until the door lodged against her spine. He continued to move in, slowly but ferociously, invading every inch of her space until he was standing directly in front of her. She craned her neck to meet his stare, refusing to bow down.
“Is that a no, Penelope?”
She couldn’t think with him so close but she held strong. "Yes."
“Even though you’re in love with me and not fucking Arthur.”
Maybe he thought throwing her love back in her face would embarrass her into submission but it had the opposite effect. Infuriated, she stood on her tiptoes to glare up at him. "So what? You think you can use my feelings to manipulate me?" She shook her head no. "I have dreams that matter to me far more than my love for you. And I will not jeopardize my chance to achieve them just for scraps of your attention."
Her words were meant to provoke his temper so he would withdraw. Instead his eyes softened as he hunched lower to look at her, his gaze roaming languidly over her face, a gentleness to them that made her insides dance with anticipation. She trembled when his hands cupped her cheeks while he studied every inch of her features, as if marking her in his memory. And then his thumb gently brushed over her pout, his dark blue eyes following the tremor of her lips, and all she could do was breathe slowly, tentatively, her heart drumming in her chest.
“I used to think you were the sweetest person I knew. Always so kind and agreeable,” he murmured, more to himself than her. “And easily forgotten.”
It hurt. Even though she had always known that that’s how people viewed her, if they bothered to see her at all - but to have him admit it was a different kind of pain. “Then forget me. Leave.”
He didn’t move, his gaze concentrated on her lips, thumb stroking left to right, right to left. “And now I can’t get this impertinent mouth of yours out of my head.”
It came as a shock when she realized Colin was hard, his erection pressed against her body. "You're aroused."
He met her eyes. “I’m aware.”
She swallowed audibly. “Why?”
Irritation surged through him. “You’re here, dressed in a robe with your beautiful hair down, talking to me, arguing with me, breathing around me, and you ask me why I’m aroused?” His hands slid down her body until they were at her waist, fingers curving into her sides as he pressed her tightly against him.
A faint gasp escaped her lips feeling his hardness.
“I want you, Pen,” was his raw, throaty plea. “I can’t stop.”
“Show me.” Her voice was firm, determined. “Show me how much you want me.”
To be contined...

Hi, so can you do Colin Bridgerton lover where they are a secret relationship because of all the stuff that comes with being public and they aren’t ready for that but somehow Lady Whistledown finds out and it’s exposed.
-> pairings: Colin bridgerton x reader
-> warnings: none
Tumblr media
Both of their eyes managed to lock together every time the two were in the same room, they danced with others, twirled around the room unknowingly to anyone else apart from the two of them.
Nothing could give away the love their hearts were laced with. So they began to find happiness in being together and wanting to be married as soon as possible. Anthony and Vioket were ecstatic, the girl couldn't have been a more perfect match for their family and their beloved Colin. No one knew except their family and the dark rooms into which they would find themselves happily expressing their love without a care in the world.
The room had began being suffocating for both of them because of the lack of liberty, they breathed the need to conjoin their hands and look into each other's eyes. And so y/n decided to leave the dance room in search of some peace and silence. Colin's eyes traveled along her figure as she kept going further away from his visual and so he decided to follow her, they found themselves in a room, where they hugged each other both in need of physical touch.
Her eyes watery as she looked into his "I can't help it Colin, I need to marry you, no one will ever be you and seeing you out there dance, it makes me melt, because you are not holding me" she says pointing at herself with heavy breathing "I want to marry you" he says with wavering words "words are not enough colin" she goes out of the room, running into a soft body draped in a beautiful dress "oh my, I'm so sorry miss featherington have I hurt you" Penelope eyes looked at her with a softness in them usual for her "don't worry, was just trying to escape my mom" "can I help? I know a way to the kitchen, here, we could eat some biscuits and talk if you'd deemed it interesting" "lovely" the two giggled soundly as they went to the kitchen in secret.
Dearest reader, this author finds herself in need of talking of one of the jewels of this season, the splendid and exquisite future miss bridgerton, I can offer the greatest of my wishes as Mr Colin bridgerton, the third son of the late viscount and viscountess Bridgerton, it seems the two were seen exchanging eyes as well as their mamas, who talked in secrecy for the entire night. However I find myself obliged to talk about miss featherington, once again missing...
The girl took the paper and stopped reading as lady whistledown kept using Penelope as a punching bag, the vallet came running in the tea room announcing miss bridgerton and the viscount bridgerton "I assume you read the paper" laughed violet to the girl's mother "don't worry dear, it will all work out, I know you were hoping for a titled man to bring luck in your sister's marriages but it's now the time to marry" "My mother's right, we are here to start organizing the wedding" Anthony said looking at his future sister-in-law.
The two lovers looked at eachother nodding and gulping down, "I'd like to use as engagement ring my nanas ring if it's fine with you miss Bridgerton" "of course my dearest"
Their eyes locked while she walked down the aisle, after a long mass the two were declared wife and husband and they finally kissed for the first time.
This reader deemed fit put in her best wishes to the new lord and miss bridgerton, to a happy and long marriage

Ugh just loving your fic so much!!
What are your fav female characters from other media who are strong in the more feminine sense?
These type of characters are such a breath of fresh air from the usual cool strong girl archetype
thank you so much, love! 💗 I was actually thinking of making a post like that... but I thought meh, no one would care 😂 and now you sent this ask and I'm like sdfghjkl people gonna think I sent it to myself 😭🥴
so, obviously – look at my url – Sansa Stark. I actually liked her from the beginning and I don't mean to pit the sisters against one another but I could just see myself more in her than in Arya. I love her growth and her strength.
Tumblr media
another woman from my url is Princess Leia Organa. she actually knows how to fight but she is not like spectacular at it + she is force sensitive so it makes sense why she can do it. but she remains feminine and later she is a strong political figure more than a fighter.
Tumblr media
another character from Game of Thrones – Cersei Lannister. I don't really like her but I admire her scheming and the way she loves her children and despite not rooting for her while watching the show, she inspires me when I create my own stories.
Tumblr media
I think Margaery Tyrell also counts – and so does her grandmother lol
Tumblr media
now, last but not least from Game of Thrones universe – THE mother, THE queen, THAT bitch... Alicent Hightower.
Tumblr media
now, from a different type of media... Linda Shelby. she's so 🛐🛐🛐 and I hate how she is treated by the fans. 😭
Tumblr media
you may laugh at me but – Portia Featherington – not only she's a MILF but also the way she schemes in the society is soooo good. and at the same time she chooses her girls over everything else. 😌
Tumblr media
Elizabeth of York from The White Princess is one of my favourite characters ever and I love love love this show because it has all the best things about the arranged marriage trope.
Tumblr media
Speaking of these tv shows (The White Queen / The White Princess / The Spanish Princess), there's one more character that I really like and she's a religious fanatic and she's crazy but she's also a traumatised woman and she won't stop from putting her son on the throne... that woman is Margaret Beaufort.
Tumblr media
there's this tv show about Sissi that is called The Empress and I really love her mother-in-law there lmao not only she's a super MILF but I also love how cunty she is – Archduchess Sophie.
Tumblr media
I also can't forget to mention Agnes van Rhijn from The Gilded Age because she might be my favourite character in the show lmao
Tumblr media
I might have forgotten about someone – I most certainly did lmao – but this post is already long and I feel sorry for people who had to scroll through it on their dash 🔪

I imagine it’s intentional that Colin in each season invests in something that is related to the Featheringtons and more specifically, is very close to Penelope.
It’s like Colin keeps missing his actual purpose but he’s circling around the answer. And each time he tries, it’s proven to be false. It’s not what it seems. There’s nothing of substance underneath for him to hang onto.
In season 1, he gets interested in Penelope’s cousin, Marina. If he had married her, he would have the Featheringtons as in-laws, albeit a bit more at a distance because cousins. But Marina was lying to him and never really loved him, so that’s proven to be false. And Marina even outright says that she isn’t his future.
In season 2, he invests in Cousin Jack’s ruby mines. Again investing in a Featherington business. And then when he finds out it’s a scam, he admonishes Jack for taking advantage of the Featherington women who “have no father or husband to protect them”. So he’s like “I’ll fill in the role of protector. You know me, I just feel protective over the Featheringtons because reasons.”
But, as we know, Penelope is the real deal. Yeah, she is lying about Lady Whistledown (she wouldn’t be a Featherington if she wasn’t lying about something) but the love she has for Colin is real. Building a life with Penelope is real.
Oh but also Portia said that the first daughter to have a son inherits the Featherington estate and I would bet good money, it’s going to be Penelope. Not only does he invest in love and commitment and get it right this time, but he also technically “invested” in the right Featherington daughter who would eventually birth the next Lord Featherington. It’s Bridgerton so love and money can’t be separated, so yeah Colin finally gets it right in business and love.

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
You did not want to be here. This was only the first ball of the season, and you were already done with it all. The only reason you even agreed to come for this season was because you wanted to help Jennie unnie.
A new Duchess, somehow Jennie unnie had become a favourite of the Queen’s and for that reason, you had been roped into coming and helping her out. You didn’t hate that, you thought your brother-in-law, one Kim Namjoon, Duke of Kennington was pretty cool.
That’s a lie, when you first met the guy, you thought he was the biggest nerd ever. It didn’t surprise you in the slightest that your well read, always curious sister found her soulmate in a genius.
They were adorable from start of last season till now. However, what you didn’t want was for Jennie unnie to rope you into helping her for this new season. After the drama of last season, you just wanted to fade into obscurity.
But no, you were stuck at this ball, doing Jennie unnie’s bidding. Looking around and taking notes about what went well and didn’t at Lady Danbury’s ball so you can report to Jennie unnie of how she could make her ball the best on of this season.
The small reprieve was that you’d made friends with Penelope Featherington, who was a brilliant young lady, with wit and charm. You didn’t understand how she wasn’t married to some equally handsome and wealthy lord.
The gentlemen of the ton if you were being honest left much to be desired. These so-called gentlemen. You’d read Lady Whistledown and done your own research into the most popular of them.
You knew Penelope held a flame for the third Bridgerton son but really after what he’d said about her, you personally wouldn’t forgive him but from conversations with Penelope revealed, she was more than ready to forgive if there was a good reason.
Jennie unnie and you had worked hard to make Penelope shine this season, getting her out of the control of her horrible mother, was only the first step. Getting her wonderfully made dresses that suited her was the next. And now here at this ball, making use of your knowledge and your brother’s connections to get Penelope on the radar of the type of gentlemen who would be perfect for her.
You were proud to say that this plan of yours was working. Penelope was happily dancing with a Lord Justin Jeon and from the looks of it, he seemed quite taken with her.
“Miss YN, how is Jennie unnie and brother-in-law? Are they well, Namjoon hasn’t replied to my letters” You heard Mr Benedict Bridgerton. So busy in watching Penelope, you hadn’t seen him come and stand next to you with his younger sister Eloise.
“Unnie is great, Namjoon oppa hasn’t broken anything in quite a few days so all is well in their household. I don’t know why you are worried about your letters not being replied to when you seem to come and crash at my brother’s residence every day it would seem Mr Bridgerton” You replied, turning to give him a smile.
You did like Benedict Bridgerton, he was a good sort and a very good friend to your brother-in-law. What you didn’t like was his younger brother and sister who unfortunately was scowling, looking at Penelope dancing.
“The sister of last season’s diamond shouldn’t be standing on the outskirts of the ball, I say this dance is almost ending. Would you give me the pleasure of the next dance my lady?” Benedict said smiling at you. You couldn’t help but giggle at what he said.
He knew as well as you did that you didn’t enjoy dancing, you never had. Too many instances of having your foot stepped on by men and consequently broken feet because of them had led to you apprehension.
Thankfully you were saved from replying as Penelope and Lord Jeon returned to where you were standing. The bright smile Penelope was wearing had faded in seeing Eloise who from the looks of it was attempting to murder Penelope with her eyes.
The atmosphere had gone from jovial to tense, in a way even Lord Jeon could feel it. Seeing Eloise was seconds away from erupting on Penelope, you made the choice to lead her away, taking her arm without saying anything to the others around and took her towards the refreshments table.
You never got there however as you were bumped into by a gentleman. It seemed like he had been pushed by his friends as they were standing by watching with wide eyes and Penelope looked at you are wondering what your reaction was going to be.
The shock of being bumped into you faded in seconds as you realised that there was lemonade running down the front of your dress. You looked down at your ruined dress, it wasn’t a favourite of yours, but you were still mad, this gentlemen had ruined your dress. You looked up at him ready to shout at him, propriety be damned.
That’s when you noticed the group of gentlemen that had pushed this gentleman in your way. Viscount Park Jimin was laughing with his stupid friends. Not caring about the poor boy who was apologising to you, ignoring him and Penelope’s attempts at calming you down. You made your way to him.
Not expecting you to come to him, Jimin looked at you in shock as you stood in front of him in anger. Although he had expected your anger, he was hoping it would be aimed at the boy he sent to spill his drink on you. Then again, he did want your attention for a reason.
“Milord, you think you are so very funny but in reality, you are not funny and showing yourself to be a child” you said scathingly. This man, he did not deserve to be called a gentleman with how he acted, and you had been dealing with him since before Jennie unnie got married to Namjoon oppa. You didn’t know why he took so much joy out of making fun of you or teasing you.
“Oh, such words from such a pretty mouth, does your dear brother and sister know you have a tongue as sharp as knives” Jimin said, his eyes gleaning with amusement. Every interaction proved his hunch about you correct.
You were the perfect lady for his younger brother. Now all he had to do was get you to interact, fall in love and his younger brother would be set for life. Not to mention, he would get the acute joy of being the annoying older brother that Namjoon wasn’t in your life.
Not dignifying Jimin with an answer, you walked away and went back to Penelope. Telling her that the two of you were leaving.
At home, you ranted and raved to Jennie unnie and brother about how much Park Jimin got on your nerves. Namjoon oppa just laughed, knowing that Jimin only did it to get under your skin and he was testing to see if you were a good match for his younger brother.
Jennie unnie, played the part of sympathetic sister but inwardly thought it was quite good that you’d found your match in terms of arguing, bantering and messing around with.
A few days later, your small little family was having a picnic, you were telling Penelope about some of the shenanigans that came with Jennie unnie’s wedding. Things that never made it into Lady Whistledown.
Your sister stopped you to tell you about how you were having guests for dinner.
“Unnie why are you inviting that heathen of a man Viscount Park. Is it not bad enough that I must deal with him at all the balls, now you want me to have dinner with the man too” You whined. You knew Jimin liked to wind you up and it annoyed you to no end that he succeeded in annoying you. Being made to play nice at dinner was the last thing you wanted.
“My dear sister, we are meeting his younger brother, I haven’t seen Sunghoon since the lad went off to university, you’d like him you know, he’s a good sort” Namjoon oppa told you smiling at the way you refused to admit that despite all the annoying each other, You and Jimin did share a strong sibling bond.
“Well, if he’s anything like that man, I do not want to make his acquaintance” you said before turning to Penelope.
“Do you think if we just turn up at Lady Danbury’s for dinner tomorrow, she’ll kick us out?” you asked Penelope. Who laughed at the absurdity of your suggestion, of course Lady Danbury would kick you out for turning up uninvited.
Logically you knew this but it was nice making Penelope laugh, she had been sombre in the last few days since that unfortunate ball where you had lemonade thrown on you and in the time you went to confront Jimin.
Eloise Bridgerton had found Penelope and it was lucky that the second oldest Bridgerton daughter had left by the time you got there because by the way Penelope had looked, you already annoyed would’ve lashed out at her.
“Madame, I’d think you should meet me before judging me on my brothers’ atrocious manners” A voice you didn’t recognise remarked from behind you. Turning around you saw a beautiful man, with the most alluring brown eyes, his hair styled in the way most men styled their hair but it looked royal on him.
He wasn’t wearing anything extraordinary, but he looked fascinating. You had never cared for handsome men. They were dime a dozen in the London ton but there was something about this handsome gentleman, you wanted to know more about him.
A throat clearing, had you turning to look at your sworn enemy. Park Jimin was smirking at you. Why was he smirking, you still felt in a daze, you hadn’t recovered from gazing at the most handsome man you’d ever seen. It took you a few more seconds to blink and regain your mind.
That is when you made the connection. The reason Jimin was smirking at you, somehow this pest of a man was related to the most handsome man you’d just seen. This was horrible.
Jimin wanted to burst out laughing. You and Sunghoon had been staring at each other for much longer than should have been allowed. The way you both were gazing into each other’s eyes.
If Jimin believed, he would think this was love at first sight. His matchmaking skills were brilliant, last season he got Jennie and Namjoon hyung together and now this season he will get his brother and you together. Maybe with one son married, his mother will leave him alone about marriage.
Sunghoon couldn’t believe he was in the presence of a literal goddess. This lady, sitting with Namjoon hyung and who he presumed was Namjoon hyungs wife and Miss Penelope Featherington. She was the type of lady the poets wrote poems about, the type of beauty that caused wars. He had been blessed by the gods that this beautiful lady was gazing at him.
Sunghoon had been ready to snap at his Jimin hyung when he cleared his throat and took your attention away from him. But in looking at his hyung, he saw that self-satisfied look in his eye. Oh lord help him, his brother planned this. He had something up his sleeve.
In any other situation, Sunghoon would try to get out of whatever scheme his brother had cooked up. They generally didn’t end well for Sunghoon, it was either lectures from his mother or lectures from his father.
He hasn’t decided which was worse, his father’s disappointment or his mother’s exasperation at his antics. Even though he tried to explain that it was never his fault but no one believed him.
His hyung was an expert at getting out of trouble and making sure that Sunghoon got into it. However, in this case if it involved this beautiful lady, he would happily go along with his hyungs scheme. For once this scheme would be in his favour, he would get to reap the benefits of it.
“So, YN are you still unhappy about Jimin and his brother joining us for dinner” Jennie unnie teased. Glaring at her, you saw everyone looking at you are awaiting your reply. The temptation to get up and run was real but that was far from lady like behaviour. Thankfully you were saved from replying by a sudden unexpected summer storm.
The rain saved you and you would forever be grateful to that. The rain also gave you a wonderful view of handsome men in wet clothing. You knew Jennie unnie was admiring Namjoon oppa, Penelope was very openly looking at Jimin’s six pack that had become obvious with his shirt sticking to his chest. In that same vein, you were having the time of your life looking at Park Sunghoon, dripping wet.
Dinner that night was an interesting affair for the whole family. Jennie unnie, Namjoon oppa and Jimin were not even hiding the fact that they’re matchmaking scheme was working brilliantly. Penelope was amazed at how you went from a young lady that never blushed or cared for a gentlemen’s attention, was preening, swooning and smiling beautifully at Park Sunghoon.
Then again Park Sunghoon was acting the exact same way. Penelope had never seen a man prouder of himself for being the reason a lady smiled. It was adorable to see how enchanted with each other you both were.
Penelope had the privilege of seeing a love match being made right in front of her eyes. She’d seen the previous matches of Daphne and Anthony; it was known in the ton that Bridgerton’s only ever had love matches.
Penelope had even had a hand in helping these couples. Probably not in the best way but her whole point was to show a mirror to the ton of their hypocrisies. It made sense why Eloise hated her, most of the time Penelope hated herself for what she had done. Penelope shook her head, looking back at the sweet beginnings of a love she hoped would last a lifetime.
You couldn’t help yourself in how you kept glancing at Sunghoon. That felt new, he had given you leave to use his first name. It felt almost illegal to be able to say his first name. This man had come out of nowhere into your life and it was only the second meeting, first actual conversation and you wanted all his attention on you all the time.
You wanted to unravel all his secrets, know each and every thing about him. Stand by his side during the bad, horrible and absolutely dreadful times. You also wanted to be there during the good, happy and blissfully content times.
You didn’t believe in love at first sight but that is what it seemed to be happening here with you. You didn’t understand it, how did this man completely make you want to live a life as his wife when you barely knew each other.
“That is what courting is for dear sister, to get to know this man you want to spend your life with” You turned to Jennie unnie confused and then looked around the dining room, the men it seemed had gone into the smoking room, not that any of the men smoked but they were probably gossiping more than you ladies were. It wasn’t unheard for you to get so carried away in your own thoughts that you completely miss what is going on around you.
“Did I completely miss the end of dinner? Lord help me I’m making such a fool in front of Sunghoon” You cried appalled, this was just what you needed for your future husband to think that you were one of those ladies that spent more time wool gathering than actually doing lady like pursuits.
Namjoon once, the men were in his office. Turned to Sunghoon. He knew exactly what he wanted to say to his maybe not even maybe future brother in law. After tonight’s dinner it was only a matter of time before Sunghoon became a part of your small little family.
“Sunghoon it should go without saying that my priority is my sister. You have no doubt heard from your brother how dear she is to me. Therefore, I should let you know that you aren’t the only person to come enquiring about YNs hand, whether it be wanting to court her or bringing a proposal” Namjoon told Sunghoon and Jimin. Though he was sure that it didn’t mean anything as YN had told him her opinions of these various gentlemen and the simple fact that she didn’t like them enough to marry or be courted by them.
Jimin looked at Namjoon confused, this information was something Namjoon had kept from him, which was unfair of him. Jimin should be aware of how much competition his brother has. More importantly Jimin needs to know their names so he can tell them to back off from his future sister-in-law.
Sunghoon didn’t know how to react to the information presented to him. He was at war with himself about how to react with this information.
On the one hand there was jealousy and the other hand there as fear. He was jealous of the gentlemen that had shown interest in you already and the fear was what if you already had feelings for one of these gentlemen.
Which wasn’t an issue, he was willing to fight for you. If he had to show you that he was the perfect gentlemen for you then he will. This dinner only solidified his feelings for you and now he couldn’t wait to court you.
“Namjoon hyung, I will be asking YN to dance with me twice at the next ball and before I leave tonight, I’d like to ask for her hand in courting. Her opinion is first and foremost to me, even more than yours hyung” Sunghoon said. He knew that what he said was out there and that this might ruin his standing with Namjoon hyung. But it was important for Namjoon hyung to know where exactly he stood when it came to you.
“You want to court me? After the fool I’ve been making of myself in front of you” Sunghoon heard YN say from behind him. He turned to look at her, there she was standing behind him asking him the silliest question. Which solidified that he was falling in love with the right person for him.
“Madame, you have intrigued me from the beginning and the more I find out the more I want to sit with you and talk about every single thing in the world. Not just that but I hate balls, the fakeness of these events is tiring to say the least but with you, I want to go to every ball because it gives me the opportunity to dance with you, show off to the entire ton that I have the most beautiful lady on my arm” Sunghoon said, looking you straight in the eye. He was praying that this speech of his had endeared you to him, that he had a chance to win your love.
You didn’t know how to reply to him. This was something that you dreamed of. Finding the man of your dreams, who saw you and wanted to get to know you. This was unreal and you were so shocked that you just nodded to his question. You couldn’t wait to start this new adventure.
That night was spent staying up with Jennie unnie and Penelope giggling about the fact that you were now courting and you had a suitor.
Since Sunghoon had become your suitor. You didn’t have a dull day. Everyday there were flowers coming from Sunghoon. You didn’t know much about the language of flowers but Penelope took much pleasure in telling you all the meanings of the flowers Sunghoon was sending you.
It was getting to the point that Jennie unnie was giving the flowers away because she had run out of rooms to put the flowers in. With the flowers, Sunghoon would come calling, as early was allowed for men to come calling.
At some point, Namjoon oppa told Sunghoon to just come for breakfast. So, for the last few weeks you’d been having breakfast with Sunghoon. If Sunghoon couldn’t come in the morning, then he would come around in the afternoon to take you on promenades.
Every single ball that you both found yourselves at, Sunghoon was writing his name in your dance card. Making sure that he was dancing with you for your favourite dances.
If you were being honest, you knew you were in love with Sunghoon. How could you not fall in love with this gentleman that was doing all that he could to make you his. Every conversation that you had, the things that you kept on finding out about this man was making you fall deeper and deeper in love with him. You had confided in Jennie unnie and Penelope that if Sunghoon didn’t propose soon then you would be asking him to marry you. Unheard of for women to be the one asking but you were getting impatient and wanted to marry Sunghoon already.
Now it was halfway through the season, and you were having the time of your life being courted and falling in love with the gentleman courting you. Jennie Unnie’s ball was tonight, it was the marking of the halfway point of the season. It was crazy that you didn’t want to be a part of this season and now you were having so much fun that you didn’t want the season to end.
Your sister and brother-in-law were greeting people and you were around the ballroom making sure everything was going well there.
Penelope was going back and forth with you about the dinner table and kitchen. Making sure its all going perfectly. The Queen had already made her appearance, she seemed very happy with this ball.
She made a small speech and then left in a flamboyant manner fitting of a queen. She was also very interested in your courtship with Sunghoon. You were pretty sure she had told Jennie unnie that she would sponsor the wedding.
A hand on your arm made you turn to the person who touched you. Seeing that it was Sunghoon you smiled. He tilted his head towards the orchestra that were starting to play music for the waltz. Nodding your head, you let him lead you onto the dancing area. Holding you close, both of you danced. You thought it would be similar to your other dances. Neither of you were a fan of talking during dances so you enjoyed the silence when you danced. Just the music and Sunghoon holding you close were the only things that mattered.
“The last few months have been the most wonderful times of my life. Never have I been happier that I listened to Jimin hyung and came to London for the season. My life was boring and without colour before you Kang YN. You have brought fun, excitement and a whole rainbow into my life. I just have one question, will you do me the honour of being my wife?” Sunghoon said as you were dancing. You looked at him in shock. Did he just propose while you were dancing, had you just imagined that you didn’t know what just happened.
“Milady if you are going to reject me, please let me know” Sunghoon said as he walked with you from the dance floor to where you had been before standing with Penelope.
Turning to Sunghoon to give him his reply, you stopped. Just looked in his eyes, you both had a few conversations in those moments, unsaid words, things neither of you were brave enough to voice but could be conveyed through your eyes.
“Well after such an impassioned proposal, how can I say no.” You said to Sunghoon a little loudly. Knowing that all those around you were listening to this conversation. After hearing what you said, Jennie unnie came barrelling towards you and swept you into a hug. She was so happy for you. Namjoon oppa was happy you were happy, and it was so obvious how much Sunghoon loved you. Once your sister let go of you, Namjoon oppa gave you a short hug and let Penelope hug you tightly as well. After the hug, you saw Jimin smirking at you.
“I am not living with this man. Once we are married, your brother is not allowed in our home” You said to Sunghoon, that made both men laugh but Jimin stopped when he saw that you had a blank expression. You were being serious. Just as he was going to retort, you burst out laughing.
“Oh dear sister, you had me there. I was about to use my status to make sure I can visit my brother and new sister” Jimin said jokingly. He would never pull rank on you and Sunghoon. He would turn up regardless of your wishes anyway but you both knew that the teasing was your way of showing affection to each other.
“Well now we have to tell the Queen, shes very adamant that this wedding she sponsors ends better than the last one” Jennie unnie said. She was slightly put out that she wouldn’t get to plan your wedding like you had helped her.
But with the Queen footing the bill, you had to go with whatever she wanted. Although considering the Queen wanted this wedding to be a success, she may be more willing to let you sisters have the things you wanted at your wedding.

The Eras Tour: 01. Anthony Reveals Tickets
Tumblr media
Pairings: Colin Bridgerton + Penelope Featherington, Anthony + Kate Bridgerton
Polin Masterlist | Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
April 8, 2023
Violet Bridgerton had taken Penelope out for birthday shopping and was also dragging Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth and Kate along with them.
Each lady had about four or five bags each - but still managed to put their new belongings in other bags.
They walked up the stairs of Bridgerton House (it had been in the family for centuries, no matter how much the English Heritage asked - they weren't giving up the very well-loved family home).
Walking down the stairs were the second and third Bridgerton children (as well as the second and third Bridgerton sons - Benedict and Colin - Penelope always jokes that they'll never forget where in the alphabet they belong).
"Happy birthday, Penelope!" Benedict smiles, pressing a kiss to her cheek - Benedict Bridgerton always flirted with her (much like Barney flirted with Lily in How I Met Your Mother).
"Thank you!" Penelope smiled up at Benedict.
Colin wrapped Penelope up in a hug. It seemed like whenever Benedict was nearby, Colin seemed to amp up his 'affections'. "Happy birthday, Pen."
"Thank you, Colin."
"She was my friend first, Colin," Eloise uttered as she walked past her older brother.
Colin pulled a face as the Bridgerton boys followed the women up the steps.
"I'm going to make sure Anthony isn't buried in his work," Kate Bridgerton (Violet Bridgerton's first daughter-in-law) branched off from the group to go see her husband.
Tumblr media
The ladies plus Benedict, Colin, and Gregory (who had smothered his favourite person in a hug, singing happy birthday up to her - at 13 years old he was nearly as tall as her).
"Thank you, Gregory," she leaned down and pressed a kiss to the top of his head.
She sat down on one of the chairs, leaning her head against the top when the distinct sound of heavy footsteps (which could only be Anthony's footsteps).
"Penelope," he said, standing an arm's length away from her. She opened her eyes and saw that Anthony was holding out a white envelope to her. "Happy birthday."
She reached out and took it. "An envelope for my birthday. Lovely."
"Open it, you twit," Eloise said, looking over at Colin who continued to eat his mother out of the house and home.
Penelope rolled her eyes at her best friend's comments but opened the envelope either way.
Sitting there, deceived in the white envelope, was a Taylor Swift Eras Tour ticket.
"Anthony, what is this?" Penelope asked quietly, Benedict and Colin walked over to look over her shoulder. "Are these Eras tickets?"
"Night One, in Nashville."
Penelope looked up at Anthony with huge eyes. "You're my favourite Bridgerton!"
"What about me?" Eloise questioned.
"Have you bought me Eras tickets?" Penelope questioned. Eloise was silent for a moment before Penelope looked back up at Anthony. "How did you know l wanted to go to the Nashville show?'
Anthony thought for a second. "I must have overheard you mention it to Eloise."
"What's the big deal with these tickets, anyway?" Benedict asked, looking over Penelope's shoulder.
"Let me put it in a way that you would understand," Penelope thinks for a second. "To you, these tickets are much like your FA Cup final or the World Cup final - and it would be the only time you would go."

I'm not a polin Stan in the least. Collin is boring and pen is a literal villain. I've seen her compared to Perez Hilton and Dan Humphrey. Which I think are accurate comparisons.
And I started watching bridgerton for kathony. So my petty gremlin brain lives for the fact within the bridgerton universe Penelope will always be outranked by her sister-in-laws. She's just the wife of the 3rd son.
Sorry I'm just laughing at your '3rd son' comment because now I'm just remembering when I saw some Polin stan on Twitter call Colin: "Lord Featherington" which is just SOOOO funny on so many levels:
Women in that time took their husband's last names so he'd still just be 'Mister Bridgerton'
Even if men did take their women's last name he wouldn't be Lord b/c Penelope isn't even the oldest sibling
Portia already stated that the Lordship would pass to the first son any of her daughter's have so even if they had a kid first he'd never be a Lord
Also I think it's even more funny that the show made Colin look like Pen's father for his S3 'glow up':
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Colin will never be 'important' compared to Anthony or even Benedict, who ends up with his paintings hanging in a National Gallery. What does Colin ever accomplish in his sad and pathetic life other than being Pen's lap dog?
But yeah, it is pretty funny that Pen will be outranked by two (and eventually three b/c Francesca eventually becomes a countess so...) of her sister in laws.
Not to mention that even Sophie is loved by all of Ben's family so much so that Violet threatens to blackmail her stepmother for embezzling Sophie's dowry.
Pen won't be loved by any of the Bridgerton's compared to others.

Umbrella Academy? i’m so curious!
So this AU all begins with Lady Danbury having her son-in-law dump her young grandson at her door, declaring Gareth to be a freak of nature and wanting nothing to do with him. When Agatha demands to know why, Gareth sneezes and disappears right before her eyes and reappears at the top of her staircase. While mystified by her grandson's superhuman ability, she takes him under her wing to try and train him how to use his gift to his advantage.
Rumour spreads of Lady Danbury's teleporting grandson which leads to the husband of her late friend, Sarah Basset, to reach out to her and reveal that the godson she believed to have tragically passed away is still alive and well. Upon arriving at Clyvedon she discovers Simon, who had been confined to the estate without any access to the outside world, and learns that he too possesses a unique ability of which his father didn't want anybody to know about. With Arthur Basset not wanting to be associated with his peculiar son, Lady Danbury takes him back home with her.
Following this, more and more children come to live with her and before long she's established an academy for children with superpowers. Kate Sharma and Michael Stirling's families had approached Lady Danbury, hoping she'd be able to provide help for their children, whilst Penelope Featherington showed up on her doorstep to show off her power and wanting to join the academy. Sophie Beckett turned up on her doorstep, possessing a power of her own but also wanting to help her friend Phillip Crane, who had been chained up in a basement by his father to hide away his inhuman ability. At some point Lady Danbury recognised the common denominator amongst the children; they were all born on the same date (though different years) at the exact same time right down to the second, which just so happened to coincide with a rare meteor shower passing by the planet in a shape some people believed to resemble an umbrella. When she figured this out she put out an advertisement requesting anyone else born at this specific time to come forward and join her at the academy. Only one other child was brought to the academy; a little girl called Lucy Abernathy who was practically flung out of her uncle's car in his haste to be rid of her.
Lady Danbury then dedicated all of her time and energy in training up the children, teaching them how to master their powers and use them to the best of the their abilities, to the point where eventually they established themselves as a crime-fighting team; The Umbrella Academy. To protect their identities they were each given a number to be addressed by when out in the field. Their numbers and powers are as follows;
Simon/Number One: telekinetic ability to curve the trajectory of moving objects, most commonly knives and bullets.
Kate/Number Two: possesses the ability to communicate with animals and get them to follow her command.
Sophie/Number Three: can alter her appearance at will though struggles in maintaining her true neutral state.
Penelope/Number Four: can control minds and bend reality with the phrase “I heard a rumour…”
Phillip/Number Five: has superhuman strength, was injected with a serum by his father that caused his upper body to turn into a non-human ape.
Michael/Number Six: has the ability to communicate with the dead and temporarily make them corporeal, abilities which he uses to communicate with his late cousin John.
Gareth/Number Seven: can jump through space and on occasion time.
Lucy/Number Eight: believes she possessed no special powers but in reality she can convert sound waves into physical force, an ability that Lady Danbury believes to be too powerful to control and opts to suppress with drugs.
As they grow up and enter adulthood, the academy members experience varying degrees of contentment as they endure personal problems with trying to live out normal lives. Then one day Gareth accidentally ends up jumping through time and discovering that in the not too distance future an apocalypse has occurred. He manages to travel back to inform his grandmother and the academy but before they can begin to predict what could have happened, there's an unexpected visitor.
Violet Bridgerton, an acquaintance of Lady Danbury's, is in a state of terrible distress as she reveals her children have gone missing. Her eight children had been rigorously trained their entire lives to work for a surveillance agency, an agreement between the family and the government that stretches back years. The family name was eponymous with an original group of superhumans possessing specific talents, talents which had been inherited through the generations. The youngest generation had these powers but in minimal doses and barely had any impact on their roles within the agency - but now they had gone AWOL and Violet greatly feared for their welfare.
As the academy got to work in examining what might have happened to them, Violet reveals she hadn't heard from them since the day before last; which just so happened to be the academy's collective birthday. The rare meteor shower that had passed by the earth on the academy members' birthdays had also soared past two days previously; but notably, there had been a lightning strike at the exact same time the shower had passed the earth, with the lightning storm striking in the exact location Violet last knew her children to be in. Just as things begin to click into place, an other-worldly incident occurs and when the academy rushes to the scene they discover just one of the Bridgerton siblings unleashing hell on earth, possessed by a violently destructive superpower that they have no control over. It then becomes the academy's mission to track down each of the siblings and contain their new-found cataclysmic abilities before they bring doomsday upon the rest of the world (but with plenty of hijinks and chaotic romancing in the process).

He would rather be anywhere but here. It was a waste of his time. Oh, how he longed for his desk and his papers and his letters and the drafts of laws that he wrote. Rather than at this... party. But he had been chosen for this... silly mission of how he was... uniquely qualified for it. He was a widower, having lost his wife and two daughters to illness a few years back. In the beginning, he had been chased by ambitious mamas and their daughters like a pack of hungry wolves, but his cold, guarded demeanor had eventually put them off. If it weren’t for the fact that he’d been married once before, one might have almost he wasn’t interested in women. Thomas rarely attended such dull society events, unless the queen was in attendance, and the excuse of working too much did well enough to allow him the reprieve of finding a new wife. His remaining son was at a private boarding school, earning the best education money could buy, so he had little need for a mistress for his household. And indeed, Thomas was an exceptionally wealthy and influential man... all thanks to his hard work and intelligence, which had made him far more than the low born man that he was. And now... the queen had promised him a title... if he found Lady Whistledown. No one at court would ever snicker at him again.  So here he was, still recovering from the wave of attention that he’d received after he had asked a lady to dance. He already had a headache at the thought of being named the season’s most eligible bachelor. But he must do what he can to blend in. But spying a determined mother on the warpath toward him, he quickly disappeared along the back of the wall and continuing until he found a secluded corner... almost. There was another young lady there.... she was from the Featherington family, he believed? Though Thomas was not often in personal attendance... his web of spies, rather, servants, kept him in the know of going-ons  But for the sake of gossip. For information that he could use... to rise.  “What do you think will happening first?” He began as he looked out at those dancing, for he must try to make conversation or else be ambushed by someone else, “That he’ll step on her foot because of poor rhythm, or that she will so as to excuse herself?”

I kinda want all of the Featherington Brother in laws to band together against their mildly infuriating mother in law.
I hope Portia insists on her weekly family meetings. The boys probably pre game them.
See I'm of the hopeful belief that all the Featherington son in laws have some sort of food obsession, and the only thing they are interested in during these family weekly meetings is what snacks they got there.
Colin is the bottomless pit, and if Penelope didn't exist, then food would be his true love. We got Mr. Finch obsessed with cheese. Whoever Prudence marries he has to have some sort of food obsession. I'm hoping for a baker, with him making all the sweets. Or maybe he knows all the different cuts of meat or what wine pairs best with different types of food.
TBH, I'm kinda hoping Lord Debling is Prudence's future husband. His character is said to have unusual interests, so I'm hoping he's a baker. Please, it will be the closest I'll ever get to a live action version of Anastasia and her hunk of a baker from Disney's Cinderella.
Also, on an honorary and technical level, we can add Phillip to this, too. Phillip, who is married to Marina currently, a Featherington cousin, is obsessed with plants. One of his expermints is crossbreadong peas for more peas in the peapod. So he's coming in clutch for the fruits, veggies, and herbs.

I am curious, what do you think Colin's relationship is like with Portia Featherington after his marriage to Penelope?
I think that Colin has zero respect for his mother-in-law and it's hilarious because you know all her other sons-in-law tremble when she's around but not Colin. He's just always putting a stop to her the demeaning comments towards Penelope and when she says something he will always make a comment that goes like "rude, Lady Featherington, that was so rude" calling her out on her BS.
So I think that on her side Portia respects him for having the guts to stand up to her and Colin wants her to be nicer to his wife The days that she is nicer to his wife is the days that Colin is nice to her, but any other day Colin is just like " Nope, not on my watch and definitely not in front of my kids, you either behave nicely to Pen or the next time you see your grandkids will be for 10 minutes on Christmas day"
On the days Colin cannot walk out of Featherington house because he's socially obligated to remain there and be nice to her for the sake of pleasing Penelope, that man will do his utmost best to drive his mother-in-law crazy, so you can say it's a mutually disdainful relationship.
Has Portia caught Colin butt naked compromising his wife a time or two? Probably. Does he regret it? No.
Penelope however finds it absolutely hilarious that they can't stand each other because she doesn't know two people who have attempted to tell her what to do more than her mother and her husband. The fact that Penelope does what Penelope wants despite their objections is the one thing Portia and Colin have in common. She doesn't listen to them when they try to tell her what to do.
But at least Colin can persuade his wife from time to time, which is something he also rubs in Portia's face.
And that's the tea

Formidable - 1/?
Summary:
Colin comes home to find Penelope and Eloise at odds.  It isn't long before he is enlightened to his own thoughtless actions from the previous season.
(This is a Polin Drabbles spinoff. I've decided to post in chapters since the pacing I feel would be better broken up)
-----
Chapter 1/?
COLIN
PRESENT
“Colin. NO!”
The ladies and gentlemen of the Ton was treated to a most peculiar and scandalous sight.
Penelope Featherington had walked in through the double doors leading to the the gardens with Colin Bridgerton trailing right behind her.
The authoritative tone from the resident wallflower was much as surprise to the Ton as it was to the third Bridgerton son. Although a head shorter than he - Penelope looked quite formidable as she turned around and looked at him with aplomb,” I bid you good night Mr. Bridgerton!”
This time her voice carried in such a way that it caused the string quartet to stop playing.
With her face morphing into a shade of red only seen on a tomato, Penelope walked briskly away to stand beside her mothers side. Portia’s eyes flashing as her lips formed a forced smile.
Ignoring the looks and whispers, Colin had moved to follow her but was blocked by his older brothers and new sister in law. Anthony looked furious while Benedict looked sad. Kate, behind them, had her chin up and was looking down at him with narrowed eyes.
He could say no more as he was basically manhandled out and into a waiting carriage.
3 WEEKS BEFORE
It was so good to be back on British soil thought Colin Bridgerton as he dismounted on the horse he’s been traveling with. His family’s servants pulling up behind him and promptly started unloading his goods and chattels - his bags filled with not just his traveling garments but presents a plenty for his family and Pen.
Like a whirlwind, he quickly made his way up to the drawing room to see his family. Just like his returns before, his mother and siblings welcomed him with such joy and merriment. Shortly after giving his greeting and hugs, Colin looked around and not finding his witty friend he turned to Eloise and titled his head questioningly, “Has Penelope not come for tea yet?”
Much to his surprise, his sister’s face changed into an icy, unyielding countenance.
“No, brother,” Eloise eyes flashed in quiet anger,” I think we shall be blessed to never have her pay us a visit.”
“Eloise!” His mothers voice chiding but her eyes were full of sadness.
Colin felt Eloise’s proclamation like a punch in the chest. He shook his head with an indignant confusion. Pen and Eloise were two sides of the same coin. Where you find one - you find the other. A tiff between the two is unheard of yes but Eloise need not be so vile. Penelope was their dear friend and whatever occurred between them will surely be settled soon. Eloise must’ve done something to cause this squabble between them. Penelope has always been so sweet and kind, not to mention patient; especially with it came to Eloise and himself. In addition,he could not fathom Penelope doing anything to deserve the intensity of Eloise’s wrath, “Has something happened between you two?”
He saw his sisters face show a hint sadness before it changed into a forced cheerfulness,” Brother, I am so very glad you have found your way home safely! To be sure, you will be regaling us with stories and anecdotes of your travels?”
Before he could further question her, his brothers distracted him with questions of their own. Thoughts of Penelope, like always, was pushed into the back of his mind.
----
Penelope
PRESENT
Thankfully her mother’s chastising words eventually ran its course and their carriage was now filled with nonsensical opinions of the events that transpired on the otherwise ordinary ball that the Weatherby’s hosted this night.
Left alone with her thoughts, Penelope could finally try to put them in order.
The absolute AUDACITY of that man!
He thought to win her over by talking about HIS travels. His interests. His wants.
All about him.
The entire conversation that was forced upon her as she was trying to write down the latest gossip for tomorrow papers.
She could not put them down her décolletage fast enough when she saw Colin Bridgerton on the corner of her eye. He sashayed towards her with that charming smirk on his face.
She could feel herself getting hot and NOT the usual way she was around Colin. Instead of her usual stuttering, shy, and adoring self - a fire deep within her chest felt like it would break out and consume her.
It was like she took on her Lady Whistledown persona and gave him a what for!
In all honesty, she could not begin to recollect her exact words to him but his face… Eyebrows high, eyes wide, mouth open, with not a word coming out.
His shock was gratifying. She had put that look in his face.
Frowning and feeling aggrieved, she couldn’t help but think back on his infuriatingly perfect face. It’s been so long that she almost convinced herself that his attractiveness will surely fade after his despicable actions that night.
Unfortunately his eyes was still that striking shade of green, his chestnut colored hair looked soft and styled wonderfully to enhance his features, his smirk lifting his lips on his right side, flashing her with his pearly white teeth. His voice…god his voice was smooth and silky - she could just listen to him foreve-
She shook her head as she caught herself practically throwing herself into that rabbit hole of her feelings for Colin Bridgerton.
No. No.No.NO.
She will not be going back to her old ways. Not after last season!
Her heart clenched as she forced herself to recollect the events of that night. Her eyes already starting to tear up as the memories assaulted her.
He had looked her straight in the eyes and promised to always look out for her.
“You are special to me”
Then not even a quarter of an hour later he, in his casual cruelness, professed that one would HAVE to be mad to court her.
MAD.
Definition - Incredibly foolish! Ill-advised!
Why???
As if she was so well below his standing in polite society - as if she was lacking in some way and therefore undeserving of love?
What about deserving of her dignity and respect?
Already emotionally hurting from her encounter with Eloise, hearing Colin’s words broke her heart.
Colin who would continue on as he was - dignified, charming, and most of all with no thought of Penelope.
He would not spare any thoughts of how his actions would devastate her.
ABSOLUTELY no thoughts of her tears, her heartbreak.
He knew not of the power he wielded - to make her feel like there were butterflies in her stomach whenever he was near and with the same breath have her completely fall apart.
Now she knew the truth.
She, like everyone, else had thought him a gentleman - charming and kind. Oh but he was far from being a gentleman. His charming facade caused her to erroneously judge him from the very first time she laid eyes on him.
He was liar and a thief!
Like a thief he stole her heart with his smile, his kindness, his witty conversations with her, his dances that she can freely admit was mostly likely forced upon his person by his mother.
Now there was nothing. Where love grew amongst hope and dreams lay nothing but a painful hollowness.
She knew he’s tried to visit her these past couple of weeks and was promptly turned away by the Featherington butler. Even after so many months she still didn’t want to see him.
His words would echo every time she thought of his face.
Then on bad days it was accompanied by Marina’s.
“Your love is an unrequited FANATASY!”
Then her mind would have them holding each other lovingly and laughing at her and her foolishness.
Penelope felt a tear fall from her right eye just as their carriage stopped in front of their home. She discretely wiped that offending trail that the tear left behind and took a deep breath as she followed her sister and mother out of the carriage.

Director's Commentary: Lord Sheffield in your fics? Talk about your thoughts on how you went about writing his character :)
Ah, Lord Sheffield!
Tumblr media
Lord Sheffield I found rather interesting as much as his wife. I'm going to give a little sneak peak - his name is Robert, his wife's name is Elizabeth.
I'm going to say something controversial - I do not think he is a bad person. He's an elitist arsehole but so is most of the ton (even the Bridgertons to an extent but that's a different post lol)
In Her Own Right, he is a man with little option but to go to the Sharmas, specifically Edwina, when he realises his wife is in fact dying. They have no male relatives, something I presumed based on how desperate they were to make that deal that Edwina marries a man of English breeding.
I do feel like Lady Sheffield was the more spiteful of the two. A lot of mothers in the Ton view their daughters as an extension of themselves, hence why I think we can see it was more her attitude that hurt Mary and made her determined to raise Kate and Edwina so differently.
(A separate post is needed on the introspection on the women of the Ton who have children they do not actually want but must have for duty and then that clash with the nature of very much loving their children but still being driven by duty - Lady Sheffield, Lady Featherington, see even Lady Gunningworth are all examples of this)
Lord Sheffield is a man of his country and class - he looks down on people by nature. So his son in law not being an English nobleman hurt. It hurt even more when his daughter disobeyed him, because that's his reputation and name. But he's English. He carries on!
Even if he does not believe in love matches, it is clear that he and Lady Sheffield shared a mind and they shared a life. They had a child together. So he is now a man broken because he has lost his wife and his pragmatism and him being rather impressed with how his grandchild deals with him and Edwina's want to know herself will see her trying to reach out to him and Mary doing so too.
He will be appearing in the chapter after the next (based on current edits!)

Kate groaned as she entered Danbury’s bar the following Thursday night, her little black dress clinging to her body tightly. Her mother, Mary, had set her up with the son of a family friend and she’d begrudgingly accepted- mainly to stop the questions about her and ‘that Bridgerton boy’. Looking around, she couldn’t see any sign of her date. She could, however, see one Anthony Bridgerton being hit on by her classmate Cressida. She smirked at the annoyed look on his face and started to make her way over to the bar when a hand grasped her wrist. On instinct, she tried to retrieve her hand but the stranger tightened their grip as she turned to face them.
A man of around 28 peered down at her as desperately tried to free her hand from his grip.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miss Sharma.” He drawled, running his free hand up the length of her arm causing her to shiver in disgust.
“You’re Nigel Berbrooke?!” She asked, baffled that her mother set her up with such a person.
“The one and only.” He admitted proudly, his hand wandering closer to her hip as he leaned in towards her ear, Kate pulling away as far as she could. “I do have to say that your picture does not do you justice at all.”
“I would prefer it if you would remove your hands, Mr Berbrooke.” Kate ordered through gritted teeth, still trying to remove his hands from her.
“Don’t be silly, Miss Sharma. You can’t deny that the chemistry between us is…”
“Darling! There you are!” A familiar voice called from behind Kate, the stranger's hands quickly removing the hand on her waist and replacing it with theirs. Kate went to accost the stranger before she caught a whiff of sage and cashmere and relaxed.
Anthony Bridgerton had come to her rescue.
“Um- I believe you might be mistaken Mr-” Mr Berbrooke enquired, using his grip on Kate’s arm to try and pull her away from him. She could feel Anthony’s hand on her waist tighten as he stepped in front of her slightly.
“Bridgerton. Anthony Bridgerton.” Anthony answered, Nigel’s face dropping in surprise.
“As in- Bridgerton & Featherington law firm?” He asked, his grip on Kate’s arm loosening enough for her to slide  away from him and closer to Anthony.
“The very one. And you are?”
“Nigel Berbrooke…sir.” Kate could have almost laughed at Nigel’s face. The leering look had been replaced with one of hope and worry.
“And if I am not mistaken, your father works for my mother? Correct?”
“Well, Ye-yes. Actually, my father’s thinking of retiring and is in the process of recommending me for the job. It’d be great if…”
“If I bigged you up to the CEOs?”
Nigel nodded enthusiastically, his previous obsession with Kate completely forgotten.
“And why would I do that? From what I’ve seen tonight, you have absolutely no respect for Miss Sharma here which makes me think you have no respect for women in general. You’re lucky your father is one of our best lawyers and we don’t fire people for their family’s mistakes.” Anthony spat, stepping towards the other man. “Now I want you to get the hell out of my sight before I do something I regret.”
“Fine but I am taking my date with me.” Nigel glared at the other man before he reached out to Kate causing Anthony to push him away.
“Don’t. You. Dare.” Anthony hissed, shoving the other man towards the entrance.
Once Nigel had left the premises, Anthony turned to look at Kate. It troubled him that his friend who was normally so tough and ready to fight, looked so small.
“Are you okay?”
“I’ll be fine.” She answered, as he ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. “Thank you for that.”
“You are very welcome Kate. Right, I think we both need a few drinks. Would you accompany me to the bar, my lady?” He joked, offering her his hand.
“Of course, my lord.” She teased back, taking his hand.
“These are on the house for handling that Berbrooke creep.” Lady Danbury muttered as they sat down, pouring them two shots each.
Anthony turned to Kate with a grin. “What should we toast to?”
“How about- that not all men are creeps?” She grinned in return clinking her glass against his.
“Hear hear.”

2 hours later
“I bet you- fifty quid that I could woo that girl over there.” Anthony slurred, pointing his finger in a random corner.
“Anthony, you are too drunk to even get off that stool let alone flirt with a girl.” Kate giggled, sipping her drunk.
“Hey, you are drunker than me! I’ve only had- four of those…small drink things and you have had more than four.”
“Yes, however you were drinking before I started, meaning you have actually had more drinks than me.”
Anthony let his head fall to the bar. “Ugh, you’re no fun!”
“Besides, that girl in the corner is Cressida. I’m not sure you’d want to win that bet.” Kate pointed out.
“I’m good, thanks.” He muttered.
“At least you have options.” Kate mumbled bitterly, chugging her drink and gesturing for another.
Anthony turned to face Kate, his arm cushioning his head. A blanket of silence fell over them before he found the courage to speak. “How about we get married?”
A glass broke near them, causing them to turn to the source of the noise. Simon had started preparing Kate’s drink and dropped the glass at Anthony’s statement.
After recovering from the noise, Kate turned to Anthony in shock. “What do you mean we should get married?”
“I mean we should get married.” Anthony explained, looking at her oddly. “You know, ‘I now pronounce you man and wife’ married.”
“I know what you mean by married, Bridgerton.” Kate stated, throwing her napkin at him. “I’m more shocked at the fact that you meant us.”
“Why shouldn’t we get married?”
“First of all, we are way too drunk to remember this in the morning, so that’s not a good idea. And second, we aren’t even dating!” Kate exclaimed, turning to face Anthony fully.
“We may be too drunk but Simon most definitely is not. He doesn’t seem to be objecting. And as for the dating thing- we know each other quite well. What if we don’t get married straight away?”
“I’m sorry, what?” Kate asked, unsure where this was heading.
“How about: if we’re not married by…30? Yeah. If we’re not married by the age of thirty then we marry each other.” Anthony stated, nodding at his logic.
“So I would be your…back-up wife?” Kate asked, staring at Anthony curiously.
“Yep!”
Kate sighed and looked at Anthony, trying to imagine a future where she was married to him. Much to her displeasure, it didn’t seem half bad.
“Okay, it’s a deal.”
“Great!” Anthony exclaimed, searching for something. “Simon, could you grab me a pen and a napkin please? Me and my fianceé-” Kate glared at him, “sorry me and Kate need a contract.”
“Well that was romantic.” Simon commented, sliding two glasses of water towards them before grabbing a pen and napkin. “If you’re going to propose, at least get down on one knee.” He joked, turning to grab a towel. When he turned back, he nearly dropped a glass all over again.
Anthony Bridgerton was kneeling on one knee in front of Kate, who was barely holding it together.
“Kate Sharma, would you do me the honour of being my back-up wife?”
“I would be honoured.”
“Right, and now for the contract…”
