As CYOAs are all about choice and how they affect the story, I kept track of major decisions made by the players. How could things have gone differently? What choices would have been made in hindsight?

Discord CYOA, Fatal Portrait, Epilogue
This notes the aftermath of the events of Fatal Portrait. Enjoy!
The curator could not explain what had happened. The witnesses all agreed that a little girl had appeared to jump out of one of the paintings, and was crying for her parent. Reviews of camera footage and contact with police yielded nothing; it was confirmed the girl, Lily, arrived with her parent, but said parent disappeared. The cameras were filled completely with static, and Lily’s story made no sense. Entering an ‘art world’? A man with green eyes becoming a monster? Her parent pushing her through a painting? Lily was with police now, and they were in the process of contacting relatives. A Missing Persons report would likely be filed.
This was not the attention the curator wanted for the art gallery, but time would tell how this would affect the gallery.
It was nearly 1 am now, much later than he had anticipated staying. The hubbub with the little girl had meant the gallery had to close early while the investigation commenced, and by the time it was all over, it was late into the night.
The curator walked along the halls of the Menta exhibit. “What happened here?” he wondered. But of course, the masterpieces were silent in answer to his query.
He was in front of the ‘Final Portrait’ when he stopped, perplexed.
The spectral dancers in the background continued their waltz, but the man in the foreground had company. His new partner was in shredded finery, as though to complement the cobwebbed man’s state of decayed glory. Not only that, they appeared sad, their hollow eyes gazing out at nothing.
The curator shivered; why did they look familiar? And had they always been there? Recalling the little girl’s story, the curator’s eyes opened in realization.
The figure fit the girl’s description of her parent.
