A very small and random rant about the treatment of Superman in fanmade rap battles.

Come on, y’all seen them.

“Superman Vs Goku”, “Superman Vs Batman”, “Superman Vs Hulk”... yadda yadda, the blue Boy Scout appeared in various fanmade videos where he rap battles other fictional characters.

This isn’t about the portrayal of Supe’s behavior (being more aggressive and mean spirited, calling his opponents “b*tch”, boasting how godlike he is.. yknow, what Snyder haters think his Superman is like) because vast majority of fictional characters that end up in their battles naturally get their personas changed to fit the rap world, no surprise.

This is about rapping.

When done right, it can be an exemplary work of wordplay, double meanings and fantastically written lines. ERB is a prime example. A lot of battles take advantage of this, others don’t, others are hit or miss.

Regarding this topic, I wanted to talk about a case of missed potential for an awesome line, that I’ve NEVER seen getting used in any of Superman’s verbal feuds. Here’s my idea:

Superman, very often, has to deal with world ending events. May it be malevolent aliens, inter dimensional tricksters or otherworldly tyrants, there are very few types of global catastrophes Superman hasn’t faced yet. He’s extremely used to it by now.

Clark Kent, Superman’s secret identity, works at the Daily Planet.

Bear with me: if we combine these two factors together, we get..

“It’s Superman! Earth’s Greatest!

Saving the Planet on Daily basis!”

It still counts as a typical rap boast but a good natured one about how good is he at being a hero instead of how powerful it is, it references both his job and accomplishments as a superhero and his title as “Earth’s Greatest Champion”, a lesser known nickname compared to the likes of “Last Son” and “Man Of Steel”.

So, if you who is reading this ever plan to make a rap battle with Superman in it, feel free to use this line! Or something among that, feel free.

I don’t know if EpicLloyd and Nicepeter have Tumblr though...
