OK SO . notice the exact wording here 😇😇 i’m literally going insane btw . BUT. hear me out.

notice how this is the departed spirit of ”the strongest” — NOT gojo satoru. the strongest has departed, and this is the ghost of that strenght, but that doesn’t mean that gojo’s dead.

gojo lost the title of ”the strongest” when he lost against sukuna. i also think he lost (or is about to lose) his six eyes — notice how only one of his eyes is visible, and how the ending note specifically points out his eyes…… maybe it was a binding vow of some kind?? 😭 either way that would only solidify the fact that he isn’t the strongest anymore. this is going to be his final show of absolute strenght, and then the spirit of ”the strongest” will pass on.

but gojo will still be there.

AND . here’s the thing . i’m extremely normal abt this subject btw . this is the HAPPIEST ending for gojo . without question!!!!! :(((( finally he’s free from the burden of being the strongest, the loneliest. finally he’ll be able to figure out how much his strenght truly defines who he is as a person.

…. and it’s just . the perfect ending to his character arc. he died as the strongest, and came back as gojo satoru!!!! and he’ll still be so strong and so kind and so loved . he just won’t be alone at the top anymore. no one will have to bear the burden of being ”the strongest” alone, and that’s exactly the kind of future gojo was fighting so hard for :’3

Izzy and Jace have nothing they can use on Alec.

One: They didn't think they'd ever need to because they thought they knew what he'd do in most situations (say no and then begrudgingly help them anyway, and tbf to them, they're mostly not wrong pre-Magnus)

Two: He is so aggressively self-contained for survival reasons that the only 'secrets' either of them has on him are the facts that he's gay and he and his mother have a fucked up relationship and THOSE ARE NOT THINGS YOU CAN USE FOR 'friendly family blackmail'.

Three: Alec is a tactician, he is observant, he is ruthless. He knows everything Izzy and Jace have ever done and the fact that he (as far as we know) never uses any of it is amazing and a little heart-breaking because he could have manipulated and threatened the fuck out of them and made his own life so much easier and he never ever did.

Soooo, I've just found out about the Patton/RHCP feud and that Kiedis himself is personally responsible for sinking Mr. Bungle after the California release. Why isn't this more known?

I mean, I know about the Halloween mockery show, but it seems too mild a response for sinking a band's career - Patton is too much of a gentleman, this merited Mustaine levels of "never ever letting it go, ever", honestly. I mean, we spoke of what a pity it is that Mike didn't find more success as a film score composer, but it's even a bigger issue - a crime against music - that Mr. Bungle was cut off at its creative zenith.

Can we the Tumblr Patton fandom - all 6 of us - make it a big deal, retroactively, somehow?

I'm so...SO sorry I'm late with this anon - but if you're out there, here we GO!

I mean, I personally dislike Kiedis anyways, and that very weird feud between him and Mike had been going on for like...a decade when California came out..all the while Anthony had always seemed like more of a whiny tart that was somehow offended by the one guy who wasn't out to steal his fame??? While Mike was just...his normal snarky asshole self who was also like...wtf, do I even know this guy??

BUT I would say it's a little too much to pin the full downfall of Bungle on him alone...like YES he really did do them dirty with the album release, and YES they would have made more during that tour if Kiedis hadn't shut them out of the festivals, but I do really think there were also underlying issues that would have led to a breakup, without all that. I think that tour, with all the technicalities of the sound/sample setup, and band members that were reaching their peak "what the fuck am I doing with my life" age of lower-mid-thirties while playing with people they knew in high school, the ones that weren't dead...the reception they got during the SnoCore section....it took its toll. Even though Mike had successfully(?) previously split his time between Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, Trey had Secret Chiefs 3, Trevor had Trio Convulsant and I just think....they decided to take a temporary break that turned into a semi-permanent break. Kiedis might have been a catalyst, but I think the chemistry was already there.

We all six of us love California with our full hearts, but let's be real, it wasn't going to be commercial success, even IF they had gotten their preferred release date. And the record company execs knew that...and they most likely knew what Californication was going to do....so they did record exec things and went with the profit potential...that's why it's a shit business...that's why Mike did his own thing. So....in a strange twist, without that, Mike might not have started Ipecac???

Honestly, the thing to be most angry about, I suppose, is that Kiedis had it in him to like....casually and deeply hurt people he didn't know at all (the rest of Bungle), just to spite one person (Mike)...and that most likely turned the band sentiment against Mike...even just slightly.

On a slightly different note....remember when FNM got fired from the GNR/Metallica tour bc Mike was being a little shit??? (I mean, rightfully so...but he was) That could have been career ending....but it wasn't.

Am I supposed to take advantage of the night to keep working on my thesis, of which I've barely completed 1/9th (discounting research, abstract, introduction, structure and bibliography)? Yes. Am I instead reading my second novel of the day? Yes. Should I go to bed instead because it's 4am? Yes.

Earlier today I read This is How You Lose the Time War, that I had been meaning to check ever since it was published, and it was gorgeous. Really beautiful, the letters, the descriptions of the multiple universes, times and planets visited, the ways Red and Blue work, the emotions... Pure joy.

Right now I'm reading The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, and it is fascinating. I love a good scifi book, especially a scifi book that really takes into consideration the vastness of space and how varied other species and planets could be. Also punching holes through subspace sounds like a pure adrenaline trip and I'm deeply interested and captivated.

Anyway. Thesis is not progressing, deadline is getting closer. I should stop reading and start writing at some point. Meh. Stress levels are still not optimal. Stars aren't aligned. Need more adrenaline.
