Peeta's Parting Presentiment
Across Panem, there is a buzz surrounding Caesar Flickerman's newest guest. This is the third time Peeta Mellark has come on and each time he's divided the Nation; this is the third time he's been on, and Peeta is significantly worse for wear. That doesn't hinder two occurrences. The first: Caesar Flickerman continues to act as though the pair are old chums. The second: Beetee Latier is in a control room in District Thirteen with a bright team, including District Twelve's Aspen Barros. The Capitol Darling and The Capitol gossip have been discussing for approximately twenty minutes now unbeknownst to what's to happen.
District Thirteen's intel had told the rebels that Peeta Mellark would have another interview this evening. The control room in Thirteen was a buzz. Several higher ups in the technological side of the cause were here, including Beetee Latier and Aspen Barros. The former sits, staring at the massive holographic as Caesar's logo stretches across. He's positioned in the center of the dimly lit room. "Security has been breached against The Capitol's system. Given those on the inside, I do not worry about much resistance at the moment. Our objective today remains simple: get as many to see the propo during Peeta Mellark's interview as possible. Aspen, what do you see on your side?"
There was a part of her that still felt like an imposter even being in the room let alone in a chair but it's pushed aside when she reminds herself that Beetee wouldn't have selected her if she wasn't capable. Eyes remained trained on the screen in front of her monitoring the feed, grateful to have a task to take her mind off the way her chest tightened at the sight of Peeta's state. There's a clearing of her throat before she speaks, voice coming out calm and level. "No change in the feed, it's still just the interview." She wasn't sure if they'd begun to try to break the propo through yet but her screen remained fixed on Mellark and Flickerman. Aspen searches for something positive or reassuring ( old habits dying hard ) not knowing if there was anyone else in the room who needed it but her. "But I've managed to lock the channel, it's all anyone will be able to see."
There's a nod at the report. Beetee remains unperturbed by the results as Doralee Hinerich fiddles with her keyboard nearby. A practice propo had just been attempted, which didn't break through interference into Peeta Mellark's interview. "It might have aired on a differing station. No matter. You're doing well, Aspen. Keep watch. Let us know what the audience is seeing."
The tone of the interview had all in all been somber. Even Caesar's attire lacked its usual color, but he still spoke to Peeta Mellark like they were old friends. He casually ignored the state the baker's son was in. Any brashness was pushed aside with either a toothy smile or patronizing nodding. "Peeta Mellark, we must acknowledge the state of urgency across Panem. The Rebellion continues to strike havoc amongst our innocent Districts. Death follows everywhere the rebels go and every person they have touched. The bombing and fires in Eight, the bursting of the dam in Five, when will enough be enough? Do you have any idea what's going through the minds of these rebels - some of which you were notoriously close to?"
"How am I supposed to know what's goin' through any of their heads, Ceasar?" he asks, his voice tense, but shaky at the same time. He's not looking at the interviewer and instead his eyes dart from the cameras to the guards flanking either side. His hands are shaking, but that's nothing new. "All I know is that… is that… it'll never be enough. For any of you. Nothin' will be left."
It comes in fuzzy, a sound of a sweet melody. A feminine voice comes through, cutting off both microphones for a few months. Are you, are you, coming to the tree, rings almost alluringly. Flickerman's eyes flicker towards the crew, confused. Once the singing is stopped and he gets a thumbs up, eyeline moves back to Peeta. "Peeta, please continue. What will never be enough?"
His head tilts like a dog catching a sound the moment the singing starts, Peeta's eyes fixatated away from the cameras as though he can see where it's coming from. "Katniss?" he says, his voice strained, throat dry. It can't be… can it? But the second he thinks it, the sound is gone and Caesar is asking him a question. He blinks - too many times, too rapidly, his heart racing - and he looks back at the host. "What will…?" he repeats, trying to catch up. "Everything. We'll all die before this is over."
"She's not here, Peeta. Katniss Everdeen is actively aligned with the resistance, the very people who burned down District Eight with no remorse for life. But you're right, it seems they won't stop until all of Panem is punished. They don't care for the lives of our citizens. She doesn't care for our citizens."
A simple nod is given in reply, maybe she'd let a sense of accomplishment bloom later but for now she is focused on actually achieving their goal. Gaze studies the screen and waits for it to change, pushing away any rising emotions in favour of a clear mind. She's just about to report that there's been no change when suddenly the screen changes, the propo filling it rather than "Wait, I think we've done it." There's a hint of excitement in her otherwise calm tone as she prepares to brace for an inevitable pushback from the Capitol.
Beetee has a wide smile, one that almost never spreads across introverted lips. Yet eyes flicker between Aspen's screen as well as Doralee's that is capturing the maneuvering tactics of The Capitol attempting to navigate the intrusion. The latter question is for both women in essence. "Aspen, what are the those watching currently seeing? How long do you estimate until connection is back to their ideal?"
Out of the corner of her eye she catches Beetee's smile, finally allowing herself a small one of her own in the light of their success. She watches the propo and then watches the screen switch back to the interview, seemingly getting increasingly chaotic throughout their interruptions. "The propo. It sometimes cuts back to the studio but the audio is still ours. Flickerman is fighting to get it back under control."
Doralee mentions it will likely only be thirty more seconds as well. Beetee turns to look at Aspen again and remarks, "He seems to be able to see it. That's important. Notify me if there's any changes at all, Aspen."
And before Caesar Flickerman can continue, their mics are off again. The broadcast scurries over to a propo each time the mics are cut. No stranger would it be, if we met at midnight in the hanging tree, the song is audible for them though. Suddenly Peeta Mellark and Caesar Flickerman are back on the screen as The Capitol interrupted Aspen and Beetee's interference once more.
Caesar wants to only pin this on District Thirteen, but Peeta knows... oh, he knows. It's bigger than just one place, bigger than all of them, and the Capitol is at the center of it all. Before he can say anything about it, though, the broadcast flickers and he can hear the singing again. But not only that - on the side where the screen shows the interview, it's no longer him and Caesar, but Katniss. She stands in rubble, fires arrows towards a hovercraft, walks through the bombing. "Katniss!" he says again, tears in his eyes as his chest feels as though it's being ripped open. "Are you there? Can-can you see me?" She's not going to answer or maybe she is, he's not sure. He's sure of anything anymore except for the physical pain he feels at saying her name.
Caesar all but huffs at this point. It's a brief, like several milliseconds peep into the man behind the facade. He clears his throat and continues, as though the producer in the corner of the set isn't annoyed. "Peeta Mellark, please continue. We were discussing the actions of the rebels and the crimes against Panem that they are committing. People are hurting."
She watched as the screen continued to show the interview, still working to ensure it's the only channel anyone can access, but the sound coming through is theirs and she hopes that's enough. If nothing else it seemed to be provoking a reaction from Peeta. "We're back to Peeta on screen now and he's -" She knows mentioning his state isn't what's needed from her and so a frown settles itself on her brow, equal parts in concentration and worry for him. "- I think he's trying to tell us something."
Eyes flicker between the many screens across the control room. Before spinning his chair closer to Aspen, he spends some time at Doralee's desk. At one point, he's taking the keyboard away and even putting in some code, much to the displeasement of the capable District Thirteen woman. Soon he's at Aspen's desk once more. Eyes trail her screen before turning to her. "So it is reaching him well," he regards. Well not in his state of mind, but rather physically reaching Peeta Mellark. "And this is the feed everyone in Panem is currently seeing, yes? The interruption seems stronger now. They must be seeing and hearing more across the board, I imagine."
"It seems to be." Is the soft reply she gives to Beetee's question, thoughts increasingly pulled once more towards distress the longer she watches Peeta on the screen. But she resists, opting for pragmatism just a little longer. "It is, no one can see anyone else. They're fighting to get the other channels back but I've still got this one locked in."
"Good," he begins to remark as eyes linger on the broadcast. "They're going to start becoming more aggressive in trying to break our connection soon. This might be the only momentum we have with airing the propo within Peeta's airtime," he then starts to address the entirety of the room. "Continue pushing it through. Put everything into it. We don't want to lose our opportunity here. Let Panem see the Mockingjay."
And like clockwork, the Mockingjay's song rings. Are you, are you coming to the tree? Where dead man called out for his love to flee? The interruption longer in song, though her face gets cut from viewer sooner, leaving at called. The two men remain on the screen now.
Peeta sucks in a breath as it happens again, moving to sit at the edge of his seat, looking at closely at the screen as possible. It's her - singing once more - and something inside of him snaps back together. The sanity that's been slipping for weeks now suddenly coming back, albeit terrified. "We're all doomed, Caesar. You, me, everything will be destroyed. Katniss, Katniss - " He's speaking quickly, looking at the camera, trying to get it all out before he slips again. "Think about what you're doin'! There will be nothin' left! Everything, Ceasar. Everything will be gone!" His eyes bore into the cameras, his voice even faster now. "And you - " He feels the guards approaching. "You in Thirteen - " Closer now, he speaks even more quickly. " - Dead by morning!"
The producer is by the cameraman now, instructing what Caesar will eventually realize is strict instructions to cut the stream. The guards close in on Peeta, sooner than cameras can cut off even if just by moments.
She remains almost hypnotised by the screen, trying to listen to what he's saying and what it meant. The words were simple enough but she lost her grip on the logic and pragmatism that she'd been clinging to throughout, her emotions taking hold of her instead. The final break comes when the screen goes black but not soon enough. She can only watch in horror, helpless, as the fist makes contact with Peeta's face and she can only begin to imagine that what follows will be worse. Aspen had never been prone to tears but she might have wept for him there and then if it hadn't been for the sudden flurry of activity around her. "It's gone. They've shut it down." Is her only report, brief and almost murmured before her dazed gaze finally landed on Beetee again and focused once more. "Do you need me to do anything else?" She suspected that the answer would be no, given the way that others were clearing out of the room, but she'd never wanted to be useful more in her life. If that wasn't in this room then she'd find somewhere else to pour her energy in to drown out her thoughts with action.
Somewhere in the dust, a voice mentions Peeta Mellark is giving a warning to District Thirteen. The conclusion is right as minutes later, Thirteen receives an intensive air strike. This is an action that is hidden from the other twelve Districts, The Capitol, and those who watched the interview in the cellblock of the tribute center. The warning from one of The Capitol's captives saves many lives in the underground District. When it's safe to come out the following morning of day fifty-eight, hundreds of white roses have been splayed out over the earth of Thirteen. In two days time, the rescue mission will begin.
With our Mockingjay era plot drops, these will be similar to the Claudius and Caesar updates. You are absolutely welcome to write a self-para or actively do threads in relation to this plot drop! If you choose to roleplay this on the dash, please tag your threads with both #eventideevent04 as well as #eventideppp. Our players are now welcome to play through day fifty-eight, even though Peeta's interview took place the night of the fifty-seventh.
This plot drop does not effectively pause time in the roleplay. It does however signify that we are getting closer to the rescue mission in this era. As always, thank you for your patience. Thank you for still being here with us in EVENTIDERPG. Our RPG is better with you in it. Happy roleplaying!

District Twelve is nothing but smoke and ash due to the devastation that The Capitol caused. Just like the fallen District, District Eight has also been dealing with cruel bombings and The Capitol's militia. A district that once had over 122 thousand people, has lost over twenty-five thousand people in over twenty some days of war. Those numbers are a combination of confirmed deaths as well as people being missing in action. Had the rebel forces not been strong and united in the underground scene of District Eight, their fate might have been just as fatal as the one seen in District Twelve.
President Alma Coin of District Thirteen has begun to send troops to aid those in Eight in an act of showing unity within the rebellion. This is the first combined efforts of a District acknowledged by Panem working with physical forces of Thirteen outside of providing hovercrafts. President Snow of The Capitol has been working tirelessly to consistently air footage of District Eight, ensuring that the citizens of that District seem like bloodthirsty heathens who thrive on anarchy. Information of all the monstrosities his military forces have done against the District has conveniently been withheld from Panem's public.
This mission has many objectives: provide aid to District Eight, show Panem what its government is willing to do those who don't blindly support the nation, and to utilize the symbol of The Mockingjay to show how Katniss Everdeen stands with The People. Before leaving the safety of District Thirteen, the volunteers are ominously given a speech by a nameless officer.
"Being told of war and witnessing the carnage are vastly different beasts. With the training you've received, each one of you has garnered your clearance. This means the Rebellion sees you as someone capable of being on the battlefield. District Eight has lost a considerable amount of its people. Some of you will likely not be joining us when we fly back to Thirteen. Be sure to make your life worth it, whether it ends in Eight or continues in spite of the brutality you will witness."
While this plot drop will not actively involve everyone, it will take place over the 26th through 35th days of the rebellion. All our muns are welcome to play through the thirty-fifth day at this point. The end of this mission will play out similarly to canon in Mockingjay. The beginning and middle of it that we do not see in Mockingjay will play out however our muns see fit. If you would like your muse(s) to have seen or done something significant during the mission, please let the admins know. We plan to compile a list and post it for easy access for our roleplayers. This plot drop begins now and will run until at least September 25th.
During this plot drop, propos from The Capitol and the rebels will be airing. If there is cross interference, our roleplayers will be notified. This means if a rebel propo plays in The Capitol or a Capitol propo plays in Thirteen, a detailed post will be made as such. Additionally, we still plan on posting captive and freely roaming individuals' Caesar Flickerman interviews during this time. Also, the possibility of airing rebellion propos to Panem's public will begin. For those interested, please reach out to the admins!
Threads that pertain to anything in regards to the District Eight mission should be tagged with both #eventideevent04 and #eventidemd08. Under the read more includes information regarding the roles muses directly involved with the event will play. Some roles are individualistic, while others are paired. As always, happy roleplaying! To everyone, thank you for continuing to be a part of our roleplay.
Roles:
Commander Paylor (NPC)
Command: Paylor and other higher ups will be in constant contact with District Thirteen as well as relaying and giving orders to the troops in District Eight. As a commanding officer, Paylor also has the ability and responsibility to pick up slack in any roles below her position.
Beetee Latier
Hacker: Beetee will be working alongside a special unit on the ground that will be working in stalling communication to The Capitol, air propos to D8 and its neighbors, as well as attempt to hack into the technology utilized by The Capitol's forces. The hackers will warn the soldiers of any approaching danger.
Cadence Kentwell
Snipers: On the rooftops of a high building, the snipers will act as lookout and alert the soldiers if Peacekeepers arrive or if any other suspicious activity occurs. Aim will be vital in this role.
Cressida Astor
Filming: The District Eight mission is about offering aid to the District under attack. An underlying importance stems from the filming of propos as well. These propos will be edited and played across the nation of Panem. The filming crew will be following different facets of the mission daily.
Ezra Klair, Gale Hawthorne, & Sterling Whitvale
Scouts: Sent out ahead of the main group, scouts will go and gather intel of the enemy’s environment, position, and numbers. They return to the group and share what they have learned. The brunt of this role will be at the beginning of the mission as well as several early mornings.
Ezra Klair & Sterling Whitvale
Soldiers: Using the information gained by the scouts, they will tread forth afterwards and take down any Capitol troops that stand between them and the citizens of D8.
Gale Hawthorne & eventually Katniss Everdeen
Assists: These are soldiers whose main objective will be to take citizens and navigate them to pro-rebel safe havens in District eight. Additionally, eyes will be steadily on them once the Mockingjay arrives.
Haymitch Abernathy & Vesper Quinn
Communication: Working from District Thirteen, communication will work as a step between Command and the higher-ups of District Thirteen to relay information. When the Mockingjay goes to District Eight, Haymitch in particular will also be focusing on that objective while Vesper continues working hard with the remaining troops.

Glimpses Into The Opposition
Ten days of promotion litter the airwaves of Panem. Gleam Chryses is set to appear in District One. It's exciting as borders are projected to slowly reopen, according to Claudius Templesmith. There's a buzz within The Capitol as well as District One, as both are particularly fond of the Victor. Amongst Districts that remain favorable towards The Capitol, the buzz is alive too. And those that do not, there are whispers. What propaganda will Gleam and the mayor of District One be peddling?
It's the early hours of Day 71 of The Rebellion, specifically 0930. Whether on a screen or a holo, most citizens of Panem watch as the Victor of the 54th Hunger Games graces the broadcast. Together with the mayor, they speak confidently on the need for peace. They mention to remember what the rebels have cost all the good, gracious citizens of Panem. It's the same tune sung for over seventy-five years: a unified Panem is a strong Panem. Except this time, the song ends with a critically shot Victor and mayor.
What's not seen is how Gleam Chryses was coerced into going home. Her brother's head is dangled for her. The disloyalty of the Victor has long been known by Coriolanus Snow and his administration; the mayor is merely a casualty of circumstance. After the insurgents made their way into The Capitol to rescue the captives, the plan had been simple. Promote the event across Panem for over a week, and it's easy to point the finger at the ghastly rebels.
Screens turn to black, donning the Panem broadcasting logo. This includes District Thirteen, who had fallen victim of a bug that meant the broadcast could not be stopped. Those in District One were made to head to their homes, to give space for the wounded. Both are reportedly transported to The Capitol to be treated by the doctors that money can buy. It will be in vain.
On day 72, both are pronounced dead. A new mayor is appointed to One: Ferro Bertarelli, 62. He is Gloss Resplendence's uncle-in-law, and notably in favor of The Capitol. News is broken in two ways. Corduroy Falto is tasked with writing an editorial. It can be found HERE. Someone also leaked it to Eris Harrington, which is how it ends up HERE on her column.
It's all very controlled, and catered. Fear washes over the people of Panem. It seems The Rebellion is now targeting Victors and officials. Lyah Yazbek of District Five makes another appearance on Caesar Flickerman, denouncing the rebels. And even more chillingly, Cashmere Resplendence, Helios Argent, and Kyan Maddox make an appearance on Flickerman's program. They denounce the rebels as well, while silently reaffirming that One remains The Capitol's most loyal of Districts.
With our Mockingjay era plot drops, these will be similar to the Claudius and Caesar updates. You are absolutely welcome to write a self-para or actively do threads in relation to this plot drop! If you choose to roleplay this on the dash, please tag your threads with both #eventideevent05 as well as #eventidegito. This plot drop does not effectively pause time in the roleplay. However, our players are now welcome to play through day 82! Happy roleplaying!

All for One
Hours after Peeta Mellark's insertion during his third interview with Caesar Flickerman while in captivity, the remaining six captives face punishment. Over the course of forty-eight hours, they will endure witnessing the executions of those they know. Some are fabricated while others are not. The following is a summarized reporting of each interaction for President Snow and other authorized personnel.
Subject #1 | Day 58 | 0800
Peeta Mellark was awoken abruptly at 0800 and brought to the penthouse. Subject watched the fatal execution of penthouse avox Lavinia in the former District Twelve suite at 0805 on day 58. Subject became unhinged, showing signs of shaking, yelling, and crying. Then the other avox, Darius, met a similar fate at 0820. Subject had a demeanor change from previously, appearing emotionless. Subject was removed from the penthouse at approximately 0835. The remaining subjects in the cells will soon receive similar punishments for the original subject's behavior.
Subject #2 | Day 58 | 1500
Amara Silverhorn was removed her cell at approximately 1500 to unfamiliar room 07. Prior to the subject's arrival, six of the subject's family members had been lead to the room. Subject's paternal figure seemed to offer an apology to the subject. Then the executions began at 1515. The method was a shot to the head. It began with the subject's brother and ended with the subject's father. Subject had no reaction and remained catatonic. Subject was removed at 1530. Subject endured the largest amount of non-fabricated deaths. Subject has two siblings remaining unaccounted for.
Subject #3 | Day 58 | 2300
Enobaria Ismene was kept from sleeping in her cell at approximately 2300 on day 58 as Donna was brought into the subject's cell. Subject remained in her designated cage. Donna expressed concern and shock for the subject, which would be shortlived. At 2320, the execution of the subject's former housemother commenced. The method of execution was a shot to the neck. Subject reacted with hysterics, which resulted in subject's shock collar to be utilized in multiple occurrences. Executioner left the cell at 2325. This subject was the only subject who received punishment via their designated cell. Deceased body removal is scheduled for 0400, unbeknownst to the subject.
Subject #4 | Day 59 | 0700
Cecelia Whitvale was awoken in her cell at approximately 0700 and taken to room 09, a previously untouched torture chamber. Childhood friend Claudia and her parents met subject in the room. The three tried to convince subject to drop subject's husband. At 0735, the execution had begun. Subject began to see her loved ones be executed one after another by method of a shot to the head. Subject reacted with no reaction at first before exhibiting signs of a panic attack such as hyperventilation. Claudia was last, and executions ceased at 0805. Subject's final reaction was hysterical sobbing. Subject was promptly led back to her cell at 0815. Unbeknownst to subject, President Snow personally asked for this execution to be recorded.
Subject #5 | Day 59 | 1830
Annie Cresta was escorted out of her cell at 1830. Subject watched the fabricated execution of her father Fletcher Cresta in room 04 at 1835 on day 59. The method of execution was a bullet to the head. Subject became distraught, with arms wrapping around herself and breathing appearing labored. Then longtime neighbor Rose Morrissey was brought into the room at 1845. This execution was not fabricated. Rose's parents Natalia Morrissey and Tiberius Germaine watched via a two way mirror. Subject was once again distressed as she could not wipe the blood off herself, exhibiting this with prolonged bawling. Subject was removed from the room at approximately 1905.
Subject #6 | Day 59 | 2200
Thea Ellis was carried out from her cell at 2200 and brought to the subject's designated torture chamber. Subject watched the fabricated executions of supposed District Thirteen captives beginning at 2210 on day 59. The method of execution was death by fire. The first two were unknown to the subject. At 2220 however, subject witnessed the deaths of Finnick Odair and Zelus Saint Laurent. Subject became visibly irate, displaying signs of cognitive distress with perseverative vocalization of doubt regarding subject's reality. At 2245, subject saw Brutus Steele and Cadence Kentwell on the halo. In reaction to their deaths, subject's demeanor shifted to extreme cognitive distress. Subject began exhibiting psychomotor agitation and disorganized behavior. The final execution was at 2305 and subject watched Ezra Klair's death. Subject exhibited signs suggestive of a complete cognitive disturbance, characterized by sustained vocalization in the form of persistent screaming while being taken away from the chamber swiftly at 2332. This concludes the collective subjects' punishments.
With our Mockingjay era plot drops, these will be similar to the Claudius and Caesar updates. You are absolutely welcome to write a self-para or actively do threads in relation to this plot drop! If you choose to roleplay this on the dash, please tag your threads with both #eventideevent04 as well as #eventideafo. Our players are now welcome to play through day fifty-nine.
This plot drop does not effectively pause time in the roleplay. It does however signify that we are getting closer to the rescue mission in this era. Happy roleplaying!

Transgressions within the Transmissions
In the eyes and ears of The Capitol, Cinna begins to fade away like a distant memory. Or at least by Day 50, few speak publicly about the stylist anymore. The air retreats to normalcy, like war isn't impending outside of city boarders. Social events, the avant-garde attire, and the latest gossip flow once again. Though nothing can be as normal as it seems.
By Day 58, propos seem to be targeting holos nonstop. Those that continue Panem's traditionalist messages are not uncommon to be seen. However, it's the infiltration of Rebellion propos that might turn an eye or two. The occurrence had not gathered attention from credible news channels nor the incredible Caesar Flickerman - that was until one saw its way for Peeta Mellark's interview. The following are just a few experiences within the last week regarding sudden propo infiltration amongst those residing in The Capitol.
Domitila viewed Effie Trinket's Pro-Rebel propo
as the images flicker through the screen, domitila's pose falters. thankfully, the woman on the footage is also hesitating, which gives domitila a moment to try and pick at details to figure out who the person is — it comes with some struggle as all she can see is the drab greys, the lifeless hair do, the paleness of the figure. in all of her years, she has never seen someone looking so ghastly (thea ellis does not count) and the stylist's gaze goes from inquisitive to scornful as the appearance and the words fit together, such opposites to the very woman she knew: effie trinket, always so eye-catching, yet so in tune with everything of the capitol. a scoff leaves domitila's lips. how self-righteous of the darling miss trinket. "one would think she did not parade with all that the capitol has to offer with a ready smile on her face." anyone who is anybody has seen effie around the parties once she finally got a chance to rise the ladder, squawking around her poor excuse for victors. how she had loathed the woman and all who accompanied them, who had robbed her tributes the chance for a real victory. panem certainly deserves better. it deserves better than someone who is so volatile they'd hop to another side — and not even a good one. "look at her face!" obviously, this is an important point. how can anyone in their right mind present themselves so poorly?!
Lyah Yazbek viewed Sterling Whitvale's Pro-Rebel propo
A mid-morning talk show had been playing when it happened; some renowned Capitol chef walking the audience through decadent new dish he had developed only for the feed to cut to a shaky frame of a familiar face. Lyah had never met Sterling, but all her years of catching reruns of Waking Up with the Whitvales and flipping through magazine spreads ensured she knew his face. He looked tense, nervous even, however, his gruff voice still managed a tender note as he recounted the finer details of his first encounter with Cecelia. For a moment she debated reaching for the remote and shutting it off, but something about the softness in the man’s eyes and sincerity in his voice kept her watching. She couldn’t look away. The whole thing is over just as quick as it started. Sterling finishes the anecdote by saying he “wouldn’t change a goddamn thing about it,” and the screen cuts back to two rather distraught looking anchors. Lyah suddenly wished she had had the strength to change the channel or turn it off entirely. Was it supposed to hurt? It had been far from the first time the rebels had managed to disrupt Capitol broadcast, but it had been so different. Instead of exploiting yet another victor-turned-victim, this had been just a man proclaiming the love he had for his wife. It didn’t make sense. What were the rebels doing? Trying to paint themselves as innocent? To humanize themselves? Whatever they were trying to do, it gave her a headache. Lyah reached for the remote sitting on the marble-topped coffee table sitting before her and the screen went dark. She sat silently for a moment, unable to redirect herself as she replayed it all in her mind again and again until a thought came to her. When the rebels had access to all those victor, including Cecelia, a woman known in the Capitol for her beauty and poise, why had they chosen Sterling?
Tiberius Germaine viewed Lyah Yazbek's Pro-Capitol propo
His thumb freezes over the piece of sheet music, fingers falling still over the keys of his piano, music falling silent as the viewing screen in his sitting area springs to life. Blue eyes shift to the screen, his body turning to face the screen as the clips plays. Tiberius recognizes the woman, of course he does. Lyah, a victor from District Five. He didn't know her well though. The clip is short and just as quickly as it had appeared on his viewing screen, the screen is black again. He stares at the dimmed screen for several seconds, did she really believe that the rebels would be welcomed back with open arms? She was naive if she did. Anyone who was associated with the rebellion would undoubtably be killed possibly after torture if the Capitol were to come out victorious in this war. He sighs, the piano forgotten as he stands from the bench. His hand is run over the top of his head, anxious habit from a time in which he'd had hair. Things are getting worse and now the Capitol seems to be trying to lay traps. Come home darlings, we'll let you back in with open arms. There's room for you still. Yea right. It's more likely to be a ruse, call the rebels back to the Capitol to face another mass execution. He wonders if Lyah realizes this, possibly, but of course again she could be naive enough to believe it.
Xiomara Pena viewed Cadence Kentwell's Pro-Rebel propo
She was still in bed (Domi would surely have something to say if she could see Xio now), when someone's voice echoed through her otherwise empty apartment asking a question about the rebellion and Cadie? The brunette's brow crinkled and she rolled out of bed, leaving her blankets hanging half off her bed and grabbing a small butterfly knife off the top of a dresser. Rebellion? She was no rebel. And she was certainly no friend of Cadie. How had they gotten into her apartment? A long moment of silence followed the question and it was only as Xio came into the living room that she realized this was a recording. She scoffed, leaning over the couch and reaching for the remote for the television. But then Cadie began to speak. Xio listened incredulously. "You act like you're the only one who's lost loved ones to the Games." She muttered angrily, ignoring the fact she might feel the same if Aléjandra had ever volunteered. "That doesn't give you a reason to rebel. Clove wouldn't want this, you... a rebel. And you act as if... as if you didn't enjoy the parties and extravagance." She realizes she's talking to a recording, Cadie can't hear her. Her words are wasted. Fuck this. She tries to hit the power button, but the screen stays on so she launched the knife in her hand at it, watching as the blade embedded into the device and the screen shattered. She'd just buy a new one. But she would not listen to the nonsense the rebellion had drilled into the woman she'd at one time considered almost a friend.
Sarah Kline viewed Finnick Odair's Pro-Rebel propo
Her mascara wand halted mid air as a familiar voice echoed against the walls of her apartment. Blue eyes shifted subtly so her gaze could go to the source of the sound. Finnick. Lonely. He mentioned loneliness and complexity. A lack of preparation. Sarah knew for a fact that was a lie. There was no loneliness for Finnick Odair. Not when he was surrounded by the adoring people of the Capitol. And he was prepared. How could he not be with the amount of pr that was arranged for him. Sarah had tried to ignore the murder part. She had tried to swallow back any and all doubts that might linger in the back of her head. Suppress the sting of betrayal she had felt. Not necessarily because they had lied to her, but because she was left in the dark. Because she hadn't belonged. Because she was not part of the team, despite her many efforts. She continued to listen to his words and her own thoughts of protest got cleared to the background. Her mind went to those subtle moments of resistance. When he needed convincing. His expression when he thought no one was looking at him. Sarah had caught it before. Had dismissed it as stubbornness or even arrogance. It was what she had concluded it to be when he betrayed her the way he had. Lashes fluttered shut, she sniffled and softly cleared her throat. "Manipulating. Manipulator - I am being manipulated." She sucked in some air, paused and exhaled. Elbow rested on her vanity and her palm pressed against her brow in defeat; careful to avoid the recently applied make up. Blues shifted back to her reflection. "It's all fake."
With no end to the Rebellion in sight, the prevalence of propos occuring is likely to increase. Information is power. It is on the residents of The Capitol to decide whether what's being aired is true or not. And if they find themselves siding with the rebel forces, then they can only hope to have a better fate than Cinna.

The State of the Stylists
Once again Panem is glued to their screens. Unbeknownst to The Capitol and its Districts, the same image is being broadcasted to District Thirteen's televisions. Additionally, captives of Panem's government had a hologram wheeled into their prison block earlier in the morning. Now, they see the faces of two whose cries they've all become familiar with.
The air is tense as exactly one month after The Victors' Purge, the country is seeing two, prominent stylists face a similar fate. Cinna and Portia Lux are standing tall. After spending the last year in adoration, it seems that time has come to an end. They're donning matching red ensembles, Cinna in a fiery suit and Portia in a gown. The former has a white rose situated in his jacket pocket; the latter has one in her hair. They look united as they hold hands.
President Coriolanus Snow is on the same platform, standing at a podium in a pristine, white suit. His expression matches the somberness of the situation. The President of Panem takes a deep breath before speaking.
"It's been forty eight days since the Rebel insurgency caused a panic within the arena. Their treachery has not ceased. In fact, they've proven time and time again that they will continue upping their brutalization of the innocent citizens of our great nation. Districts Eight and Eleven have been their most recent targets, with Katniss Everdeen leading with her sonorous war cry.
For the safety of the people of Panem, parties guilty of treason cannot go unpunished. To do so would enforce a message that the actions do not hold the unbearable weight that they actively amass. With a heavy heart, I acknowledge that the two individuals standing here not only conspired alongside Katniss Everdeen and her band of rebels, but have the audacity to seem smug about such actions.
Cinna and Portia Lux, I ask you: has our nation been so horrid to you to inspire such acts? Panem has spent great time idolizing you both, only for the pair of you to spit on those who only aspired to gift you reverence. Before receiving the sentencing for your war crimes, are there any final words either of you would like to share?"
Cinna fixes his posture before taking one step forward. His hand doesn't leave Portia's. Not many have known the terror or torture that both stylists have faced. Many were convinced that Portia Lux just disappeared. There's a comfort for Cinna, knowing that they've stayed by each other's side through it all. He takes Snow's challenge for what it is.
"I never cared to be popular, President Snow. I cared about doing what's right. I knew what I have done might ruffle feathers, but I don't regret it. I will not grovel for you or a corrupt jury of people. I stand with the Mockingjay. I stand with the Rebellion. Forever and always, until my dying breath."
Portia's eyes weren't on Snow, or at anyone else. They are on Cinna. And she can't believe what she is hearing. Or maybe she should. After all, she isn't the one that has done anything wrong, at least not in her opinion.
"But what about me? Where was I in all your thoughts about this rebellion Cinna? Me, your partner. I thought you trusted me, and yet you couldn't even tell me about this. You've dragged me into this when I've done nothing wrong. You know I've done nothing wrong, and yet you stand there okay with letting me take the fall for war crimes alongside you. So much for you loving me."
And at that point she drops his hand, taking a step away. They had shown a unified approach. The stylists from 12, who had risen in fame together. But Portia wasn't going to allow Cinna to also take her down to her death. Not when she hadn't done anything wrong. That was when she finally turned her attention back to Snow, though her words were more panicked now, almost as if she thought it would still be too late.
"No...no... I won't stand for this.... I won't let him drag me down too....I denounce it..... them... all of it.... they are traitors...... but I'm not..... "
President Snow raises his palm, as the small crowd at the execution gasp and stay wide-eyed at the scene between the two partners. It effectively silences those there as tension rises. Practiced perfection means his face does not falter, even if inwardly he feels gleeful at what had just transpired.
"Unlike the Rebels, Panem does not stand for unnecessary violence. While those in District Thirteen would be trigger happy to slaughter, such a hedonistic desire for savagery is only for barbaric individuals. Forgiveness is powerful. For those watching who toe the line and even those who have turned directly to the Insurgents, know it still isn't too late. Let Miss Lux be an example for you. Choose peace. Choose our great nation. Miss Lux, please follow me off stage. Peacekeepers, you may begin implementing Mr. Cinna's sentence."
The President and the former stylist leave the stage peacefully while peacekeepers storm it. Whether on a screen or halo, the audience watches as Cinna is executed by firing squad. The now deceased man's words ring true, as before shots are fired, he raises his arm to give the defiant, Mockingjay salute as his final act of rebellion.

It's been eighteen days since the start of the rebellion. Tensions are high across Panem. The question on all minds involve unity. Does Panem unify against the rebels and choose what everyone has always known? Or do the Districts align with District 13, effectively choosing to go against their own government? For the last seventy-five years, uprisings have occurred here and there. They got stomped out violently and quickly. In the last seventy-five years, the collective of Panem never caught wind of other places uprising. This is different. Feelings of fear and excitement intermingle. Some feel one or the other, others may feel both.
Today marks a night of significance and sadness. Citizens are either told to turn their televisions on at seven in the evening, or rounded up to their town square to watch the President. When the screen lights up on the dot, people witness Coriolanus Snow. His speech is as follows:
"Today marks a blemish on Panem's wonderful history. We are better together, stronger when we are hand in hand. There are threats that Panem has begun to face with the treacherous rebels. They blend in well amongst us all. You might not know it, but some may walk right alongside you. They do not care for the safety of our citizens. They do not care for your future or the future of your families. They do not care for the greater good. Selfishly, their only concern is themselves.
It pains me to see the good people of Panem fall into the snares of blanketed promises that the rebellion touts. The rebels offer petty promises that they cannot truly provide. The truth is Panem must remain united against those who betray us. As a citizen of our great nation, you must ask yourself if you are loyal to your people or not. Because if you do not stand with Panem, you effectively stand against freedom and peace.
It isn't difficult to fall for the blathering of the rebels. Even the strongest amongst us struggle. As of today, the government of Panem has arrested twenty of our past Hunger Games victors for treason. These twenty in one way or another have helped the rebels in their terrible cause. This cannot go unpunished, and treason will continue to be punished. For their crimes, these twenty victors will be executed. They will have all of Panem witness this so they go out in shame. Their actions will continue to be seen as unforgiven, long after Panem defeats the rebel forces.
To the rebels who are watching, let this be your final warning. Step away from your mission of chaos. It isn't too late. And to our good citizens of Panem watching, we stand with you. Your safety and peace is something we treasure. It is your God given right to not have to live in fear. You have our promise that the rebels will be stopped. Good night, Panem. Peacekeepers, you may begin the executions."
With our Mockingjay era plot drops, these will be similar to the Claudius and Caesar updates. You are absolutely welcome to write a self-para or actively do threads in relation to this plot drop! If you choose to roleplay this on the dash, please tag your threads with both #eventideevent04 as well as #eventidevp. This plot drop does not effectively pause time in the roleplay. It does however signify that we are getting close to week three in the rebellion.
Under the readmore is a list of the victors who have unfortunately met their end. Except for twelve, each District has at least one victor who has been executed. Please use the district plotting channels if you'd like to determine how far each of these victors were in the rebellion as well as any fun tidbits about them with your fellow muns. Holographic screens are scattered throughout the museum. Usually the pressing of a button would initiate the appearance of a virtual tour guide for that specific exhibit, proudly brought to those by the Public Broadcasting Channel. The cheery faces of artificial intelligence do not surface. All synced together, an unsettling compilation of The Hunger Games begins to play instead. Showing grisly deaths from each Games in quick intervals, it's disorienting to see it presented so unexpectedly.
People idly watch a mutt devouring the skull of the young tribute who placed second during the forty-third year. Next, a career pack of children being electrocuted without mercy. Bubblegum-pink birds rip at the flesh of a defenseless Maysilee Donner. Flashforward a few seconds and a tribute from twelve has a knife in her chest as a fifteen-year-old boy has blood dripping down his hands. Soon, two tributes from District One are duking it out; baton swings for the victor's face only to stab her own knife in the other's throat. The sixty-sixth year comes and a vulnerable child gets speared. Blink and soon a beheading gets shown. Then a neck getting snapped. It all leads to the sudden passing of Rue. Scenes had previously flickered from one gruesome image to the next, until the following words spread across the holograms: When will enough, be enough? End the violence. Stand with Panem.
Everything takes place in the span of four minutes. Thanks to the technological prowess of Constantinus Snow, soon the holograms are powered off. It's sheer luck that he's working on broadcasting for the Quarter Quell at the same time. Who knows how long the party could have been interrupted otherwise? Only those in The Capitol at Caesar's after-party had witnessed the full stunt. However, unbeknownst to those there, the same message at the end of the interference still had been relayed to the districts. Eyes turn to the fuchsia-haired man who won't let his face falter. He encourages the guests to continue with the festivities. Ten minutes pass and the party resumes to its former swing. Tensions remain in the air though. What was that?
This plot drop goes alongside our current event, which has been extended to July 8th. Be sure to continue tagging your threads or drabbles with #eventideevent02.
For those with muses already in the rebellion, it is up to you whether they would be aware of what had occurred. For those with muses not in the rebellion, it's for you to decide what your muses make of the interruption. Happy roleplaying!

"Sadness looms over Panem today. One of our strongest and brightest passed away at 5:42 in the morning at Grand Mercer Hospital at the age of fifty-eight. Porter Millicent Tripp stole the hearts of our great nation by winning the thirty-eighth Hunger Games. Who could forget the stealth she showed in the arena and the honor she brought to district five? Her legacy will live on in her spouse Ripley as well as the tributes and victors she has mentored. A service will be held at the Grand Hall in The Capitol's downtown tomorrow between the hours of four and eight p.m. for those who would like to pay their respects."
It's all over the news this morning. Capitolites are in mourning feeling as though they've lost one of their own. Whispers quickly sound off. It's becoming fast knowledge that she supposedly passed from a cardiac episode. From her time in the arena, she suffered chronic health issues via her nervous and cardiovascular systems. The gala at the Presidential mansion was filled with vices. Perhaps it became too much.
She was found unconscious by Effie Trinket towards the end of the night. It was so sudden and handled with such care that many partygoers were completely unaware of Porter even being transported to the hospital. Still, rebels should be wary. Ripley and Porter Millicent Tripp were staunch loyalists to the rebellion. There was not a meeting she did not attend. Could her passing be a message from The Capitol's tyrants?
Our first event is officially over, though we encourage our muns to continue any thread from this event if they'd wish to! Please just tag any posts related to the event with #eventidepast now as well. Training for The Quarter Quell has begun.
Happy roleplaying!

Sustaining The Spread
Looking inward, The Capitol appears thriving even when war brews. Issues seem superficial at best. Fabrics for fine clothing have been limited; veal prices have skyrocketed. Volume always increases behind closed doors. And like those within The Districts, the citizens of the city feel torn when it comes to loyalty. Many want their old norms to return and miss the loud or quiet luxuries they consumed. Others suddenly have questions they never had before.
Holos have lit up with information from loyalists on The Capitol's side and detractors who show favor of The Rebellion. It's a lot to consume. For some, it brings a similar rush as The Hunger Games. For others, it instills a fear of what's to come. And others? Well, it's not common to hear the great citizens of Panem to have something negative to say about their dear President Coriolanus Snow. However, as the airwaves get saturated more and more everyday, residents of The Capitol seem more inclined to speak on the materials broadcasted.
Corduroy Falto reacted to Gloss Resplendence's propo
Cord had just stirred the last remnants of his instant coffee when the familiar ding of a Capitol-sanctioned message came from his television. He barely looked up as he followed the familiar, well-worn path from his kitchen counter to the couch. The man turned up the volume as he missed the first few seconds of the broadcast, taking his first sip of his drink, eyebrows furrowed together. Gloss seemed calculated as he told Caesar he was shocked by the death. He wondered if the double meaning referred to the way Gleam and the mayor were murdered. Did any of the Victors face threats leading up to the killing ? Was Gloss doing damage control right now, or perhaps just reiterating his loyalty as to save himself ? Gloss' quiet, considerate ( perhaps calculated ) way of speaking intrigued Cord. He wondered if the Victor would be interested in a conversation. An interview would be too much, especially when Cord wasn't sure what he wanted to make of a potential meeting. Hmm. He'd have to ask around and see how far he could get.
Eris Harrington reacted to Johanna Mason's propo
Wine glass in hand, Eris glanced at the screen when she heard the unfortunately familiar voice of Johanna Mason. She had never been one of Eris's favorites when it came to the Victors, she had never played nice with Eris, and quite frankly Eris had hoped that she lay dead somewhere. It was a pity. She raised the glass of wine to her lips as she watched as the woman droned on. Of course Eris had heard the rumors that Johanna spoke of, but what was the point? Did the rebels think that they were going to win by outing common secrets to the public? It was a sad attempt, in her opinion, to sway the public to their side. Sob stories and secrets they were trying to out wasn't going to win them a war. Her father had taught her that a long time ago. She had learned from her mother and stepmother that keeping the status quo was paramount. Eris wasn't going to allow Johanna Mason or the rebels breaking into the Capitol airwaves to change anything. Eris lifted her remote and turned the screen off before Johanna had the chance to finish. Eris had work to do.
Livia Snow reacted to Mags Flanagan's propo
When her news feed is interrupted and an image of that old wench from Four, of all people, disturbs her time alone in a Penthouse secured strictly for her more *unsavory* endeavors, Livia can only let out a huff of irritation. But she can’t help the way she’s nearly glued to the screen, rolling her eyes as Mags makes what sound like some of the most dramatic statements in the world — really, she could win an award with those acting skills if she weren’t so insufferable and hideously aged. “What a sad little woman.” The comment leaves her easily with an eerie nonchalance, as if a propo accusing her husband of heinous crimes followed by a threat to their family, coming from the depths of a previously unknown district, is just an everyday occurrence. And as if she’s simply agitated by it all and nothing more, Livia glares at the dutiful Avox standing silently in her presence and forced to listen to her off-color ramblings. “She’s always been ungrateful, that one. As if Coriolanus has got anything to do with her malfunctioning vocal chords. Perhaps if the districts invested more in medical care for their people!” No mind is paid to the fact that the very person she’s spewing her ridiculous claims to has, in fact, been forced into silence at the hand of her husband. If she knows what she’s doing, Livia doesn’t care. Instead, she pushes her newly empty wine glass into the Avox’s chest and tries to ignore the shake of her hands. *For you there is no redemption.* “Fetch me another — and I’ve already told you, keep them coming!”
Marius Sequin reacted to Cecelia Whitvale's propo
Usually Marius wasn't all too invested in the gossip-forums and speculation video's or assumption interviews. War was bad, that was the general point. Of course Lydia would make sure he saw it when she was around to force it on him. If not, she would tell him all about it later. Quite annoying. Head titled to the side though and his eyes formed a subtle squint at the next video presented. The question caught him off guard. *Captive of the Capitol*. He could see why some people were questioned due to the rebellion but actual captivity seemed like something they'd only do when there were threats involved. Gloss wasn't captured after all. Besides, her being in a rebel-video only proved that the assumptions of her being a danger to the state were valid. And then her answers made him scoff in disbelief. The things she described seemed to him like a product of wild imagination. The contradiction of 'not having any information' and now being on the rebels' side was bemusing. It made him wonder how stupid these rebels thought the people they were reaching out to were. It was what he had gathered in most of these clips; a bunch of contradictions that didn't add up. Oh well - at least he made a lot of money out of this one.
Portia Lux reacted to Natalia Morrissey's propo
Natalia popping up on her television screen was not something that Portia anticipated. the "Eww" of digust that came out of her mouth was not either. The victor looked bad, and Portia was left wondering who had allowed her to even appear on screen like that. Portia would never let any of the people she styled go on screen looking like that. But they were in a war after all. Maybe Natalia's standards had slipped. But then she started talking about her daughter, and Snow. Then it clicked in her mind. She hadn't technically seen any of the films herself, having spent a lot of time locked up. But with how Natalia was talking, it was clear that she was talking for the rebellion. Portia bit her lip as she watched the screen. The tears. It was hard. No wonder the woman looked awful. But that was still no excuse for letting her go on the screen looking that way. Unless that had been the entire point? Portia wasn't sure how she truly felt watching the screen. Natalia's pain was clear to see. But it didn't truly change the one thing that Portia had clear in her mind. If Snow was going around killing people, then she'd made the right choice that day on the stage.
Xiomara Pena reacted to Cadence Kentwell's propo
It seemed the parties were further apart and fewer to come as the people of the Capitol actually began to worry about the rebellion. And so she’s home - or at least at her apartment in the capitol, halfway through her second bottle of wine for the night, when whatever rerun of some capitol reality tv show was interrupted. She had reached for her remote, but froze when Cadie’s face took center stage on her screen. She huffed, rolling her eyes. Were they purposefully targeting her with Cadie? She’d heard whispers about the screenings the last time they’d happened. They all hadn’t seen Cadie last time and now she was being blasted with Cadie again? It couldn’t be a coincidence. She’s ready to ignore it, halfway to her kitchen to refill her glass of wine when Cadie spoke her brother’s name. She froze, only moving to glare at the picture of Cadie on her screen. How dare Cadie talk about Nero as if she actually knew him, or how much he meant to anyone. That was her brother, not Cadie’s. He hadn’t meant shit to Cadie, or so she’d told herself over and over for years. Anger and rage was easier than forgiveness and empathy. There was a ringing in her ears as she bit the inside of her cheek, willing the water on her lash line to disappear, to go away. No one was watching, but she refused to let the fucking rebellion to be the reason she cried for the first time in years. No, instead she turns back to her kitchen, pours herself that next glass of wine and downs it, wiping angrily at her eyes.
Coriolanus Snow reacted to Cressida Astor's propo
Coriolanus Snow recalled the propo interruption last night. The rebels could not infiltrate his personal devices. Nevertheless, he had seen it when visiting Senator Randal Kentsworth's manor. The poor fool turned white as a passing phantom. Pathetic, the President remarks to his daughter Corina Snow-Pratt. "Which traitor was it, father? Those from The Districts are beasts that cannot be trusted." "Miss Cressida Astor actually. Somehow the insurgents forget her fine lineage. How she became so ungrateful and unforgiving is beyond me," he remarks. Mommy and Daddy Dearest might be able to buy her out of the punishments she will receive. That is if they prove they aren't guilty by association. "What did she say?" Corina asks pryingly. Sitting around spending his earned money must be becoming monotonous. "She felt it was important that the citizens of Panem saw what was happening in the Capitol," he quotes effortlessly. "All they did was present how the detractors would prefer dangerous criminals within their ranks, my dear. No matter, they will continue to implode on themselves."
Coriolanus Snow intends to ensure Thirteen implodes. He tasks Kyan Maddox, a gamemaker from One, with making a propo to air. It's a test, one that at first comes with a slight paranoia. It's one that will be failed.
Day eighty-three: hovercrafts owned by The Capitol zoom overhead at approximately 1330. They intervene with airways, as they slowly drop encased toxins. While rather safe for human life, it's detrimental to soil and plant life.
Screens without the authority of District Thirteen light up. There's footage that hasn't been aired since before the first Quarter Quell. It's of the underground district; it's some graphite miners turned soldiers. There's an eerie coolness, long edited into the footage before Kyan ever touched it. They appear neither Capitol nor District, just that they want to not be a part of any of it. There appears to be an unspoken, inherent explanation of why Thirteen never bothered helping the other twelve Districts in decades.
There are flashes of nuclear power and equipment, perhaps the first time The Capitol ever acknowledges what else Thirteen was good for before the First Rebellion. Murmuring is heard around facilities as familiar faces of generations past appear. Ellen-Dean & Garlin Coin, Rodrick Boggs, Fleana & Kavendish Jackson, Alderidge Aurelius, Dalma Flint, Nicholas Benning, Menander Baskus, Juliard Toile, and countless others make appearences. Soldiers and death litter the screens in black and white, and lots of red.
It seems over. Minutes go by. There's soft shaking felt within the hidden District. Nobody's evacuating though, leaving some confused. Kyan Maddox had informed Thirteen's officials on the fact the propos were meant to distract the District as The Capitol attempted to corrupt the earth that surrounds it to deplete soil resources and ultimately, significant nourishment. Thirteen is prepared.
But just as tension begins to dissipate, screens become active once again.
The first true celebrity of The Hunger Games carries on feasting as many tributes die of starvation in the eleventh year. Soon Natalia Morrissey is shown easily stabbing another with a fisher's knife just for trying to find refuge from the tide by holding onto her. People watch as a ghost alive as ever wields a sword right above a final victim during the forty-third Games. Next, the face of a young tribute from three watching cooly as a career pack of children become electrocuted without mercy.
A man living up to his nickname is shown decapitating two of the final tributes of his Games. The scenes cut faster here. In it's unabashed similarities, a lot of faces have been withheld given the executions twenty victors faced. A force field is used to kill a young woman. Next a woman from Five showboating around the arena. It continues to get more grizzly. A man holding an axe causes the collapse of a bridge, which takes many lives in its descent downwards. A doll-faced tribute gets drenched in more and more blood as she stabbed the male from Two like it's nothing.
Flashforward a few seconds and a ruthless boy slaughters helpless children with a shiny, new trident. There's a feral cat-like woman ripping out their last enemy's throat. Then it goes to another orphan from Two, who heartlessly slit the throat of her fellow man from her home district.
Blink and soon a forgotten face from three gets stabbed while trapped underwater and the culprit swims away. The bloodbath catalyst of the seventy-first Games graces right after, showing impeccable axe skills. The only thing out of order is the Quarter Quell pops up second to last. A middle-aged man guy towers over a blonde as he shamelessly cuts away at her forearm. It's no coincidence that the seventy-fourth Games gets skipped. The propaganda footage ends with two eventual newlyweds holding berries. The sight cases a howling scream from a present day Peeta Mellark within Thirteen.
Scenes had been stitched meticulously and aired. But in a straight response to the propo that played at Flickerman's afterparty, words splay out on a now otherwise black screen: Enough is enough. There are only two ways to cease the war. Reunite with Panem, or face the consequences.
At 1430, President Alma Coin makes an announcement. She states the following:
"The Capitol has attacked Thirteen once again. Intel from our fellow rebels within The Capitol meant we had some warning prior. We were informed Snow ordered an attack on our land, specifically our crops. Because of the warning prior, most of our resources remain. The only sector compromised was the legumes. Rations might be tighter until we can compensate, but we are resilient, and this will not hold us back. Do not fall worrisome at the propoganda spewed our way by Coriolanus Snow. This is a minor setback, and we will not be bullied into submission. The Capitol can only do so much when so many citizens of Panem are waking up. Thank you for remaining calm during the onslaught. Duties on schedule will resume promptly at 1600. Good day."
Kyan Maddox won't be the only one seen as a sympathizer to The Rebellion. Constantinus Snow has also relayed information to President Coin and other head Thirteen officials. For over twenty days, the District has held Calista Hearting and Sarah Kline under arrest. Information had been leaked to The Hearting and Kline families. Following the events of the attack on Thirteen by The Capitol, Coin, Plutarch Heavensbee, and others discussed how to move forward with the captives.
Calista Hearting's family has expressed concern for their sole remaining child. Nevertheless, they've turned their cry to a whisper. Instead, they double down on their loyalty with The Capitol. They're a fond family with strong ties to the weaponry industry. Soon Cato's sister and her name are spoken in hushed voices. If there is intention to place effort in putting forth a ransom, it's unclear. Thirteen tells the woman from Two that her family has expressed a lack of care instead. She'll remain in her cells for now, until she ideally breaks. Until then, she will be made to make and transcribe the same set of pro-Rebellion posters.
Sarah Kline's family differs. They actively show disconcern about the escort for District Four. An artificially generated version of her has been used for Good Morning Panem. Everything seems to go on like usual, with or without Sarah Kline. Nobody suggests lying to this captive. Rather she's bluntly told on the morning of day eighty-four of the Rebellion the truth. She's released into the general public that morning, and will be spending most of her time following a busy schedule of chores, specifically laundry and dishes.
Apart from some dazed soldiers, things almost feel unaffected. Without informants, the state of Thirteen would have been severely more threatened. Those in the kitchen are the first to notice the newfound lack of legumes however. There are concerns aired over some, if not many, rebels becoming discouraged by the reduction in rations. Thirteen has remained committed to taking in refugees; the door remains open and the worry is if/when sustenance becomes truly lacking.
The evening of day eighty-four, President Coin announces the upcoming mission to District Four. It will take place in seven days, ninety-one days after the arena breakout. They've asked for volunteers in an effort to provide aid to those from the District, as well as officially cut off access to seafood, wine, and vegatation. There are whispers of a likely mission to Ten soon too, though Alma Coin is tight-lipped on the latter. In private circles, Plutarch Heavensbee has been heard remarking about how President and Madame Snow love their caviar and lobster.
