for the most part, ash’s general personality and character has stayed the same. he’s the same angsty, creative, romantic dude at heart, but he’s a little more jaded in some ways.

ash moved around before he became a trainee now. he lived in san francisco, sydney, and seattle. when he lived in sydney, it was just him and his mom and he grew really close to her during that time. he doesn’t really feel like he has a home at all since seoul is the longest he’s ever lived somewhere, but he’s less happy so that’s not home either.

ash is a better technical singer now ig, being a main vocal. he focused more on singing as a trainee now instead of dancing. his ankle injury in 2018 was a little more serious now, which is why he doesn’t dance much in his solo music anymore. it’s also why he’s less interested in dance, but, at the same time, i think it leaves more potential for him to re-develop some love for it again.

he’s also now the maknae, although it’s a common joke in the fandom that he doesn’t act like it. he debuted a year and three months younger than before and he feels a lot more beholden to the industry now. has even less of an idea of what he’d be outside of it at this point, even though he got closer to actually leaving it than previous ash ever did.

he’s still had a couple of minor attitude controversies in titan’s early days caused by cultural differences. he was in public relationships in 2016 and 2019. neither were received well for their own reasons. his clubbing habit has gotten him into some controversy, though bc has never issued a statement on it beyond that one time they had to confirm the woman in a picture of him clubbing was his girlfriend because people were trying to accuse him of cheating. he has a passionate anti gallery and obsessive sasaengs that make his life a living hell.

since renewing his contract, ash has also had a few hiatuses of varying lengths due to his physical or mental health. this was true before with how he naturally developed, but it’s more tied together now as a result of generally poor physical and mental health he’s been experiencing for a few years now after his dating scandals and his ankle injury in 2018.

his image is more streamlined now too! he never really had the era of being pushed as a cleancut boyfriend that old ash had around 2018. he’s been marketed as a musical genius / sexy bad boy rockstar / artist with a tortured soul for as long as he’s been majorly pushed individually. this means he’s still very sexualized, but he hates his image a little less because he can be a little more himself as far as personal style and self-expression through tattoos and piercings goes.

what does your muse think of their company and their group?

this hasn’t really changed. ash has no real love for bc entertainment and wouldn’t really care if titan disbanded tomorrow. some of their music is good and some isn’t (though he considers less of it terrible without wolf and gorilla in the mix lmao), but he feels he’s mostly outgrown it as an artist. not that it’s below him, but it’s not what he connects with creatively, which is far more important to him now than it had been when he’d first debuted. he doesn’t hold ill will toward his groupmates unless he feels they’ve given him an individual reason to, and actually feels more guilty toward them for getting involved in scandals and taking hiatuses more than anything, but they’re also not his best friends. he views titan as a purely work endeavor and he doesn’t feel bad about the fact he got about as close as possible to leaving them without actually doing so that he could back during contract renewals. after all, they’d be fine without him. he’s a main vocal, but they’ve got two others. he’s a dancer, but they’ve got two others. he can write music, but titan has never been his main priority there and others are more than capable of doing it. he wants out of both the group and the company but is starkly aware of the fact that he did this to himself when he re-signed out of what he now perceives to have been impulse and greed.

since titan is the seniormost active group under bc, ash tries to be a good senior to his company juniors in general, but there are certainly more welcoming alternatives than him. he worries about them from a distance more than anything else.

he’s on his second contract and he definitely regrets renewing. he hadn’t planned to renew for the longest time the lack of privacy and the public criticism and the hate he’d received were just too much, and he had plans that would require him to stop being an active idol, namely marrying his girlfriend of two and a half years at the time. their relationship wasn’t stable enough at the time for that to be a good idea and that was proven when they broke up shortly before final negotiations for contract renewals, but ash wanted an excuse to escape and the idea of a happy, normal life more than he wanted to be rational.

spite after the (very brief lmao) break up was part of his decision to renew, but bc entertainment also offered to support him as a songwriter and producer in addition to allowing him to regularly release solo music. he still really loved music and his first taste of promoting as a solo artist had been right before renewals as a proposal to sway him into re-signing, so he was swayed to sign on for seven more years. they followed through on their promises, but he struggles to weigh the recognition he’s earned as a solo artist and songwriter-producer against signing his life away again and doing a number on his physicla and mental health. most of his health issues and his hiatuses have happened during his second contract, as well as several behind-the-scenes situations that could have become scandals if they’d had any less luck, mostly stemming from ash drinking too much and his occasional recreational drug use, so he’s not sure bc even really feels the contract renewal was entirely worth it.

he also feels a duty to make his parents proud. though i could argue that might be less now than it was in the previous iteration of ash, it’s still very much there. they let him come to seoul when he’d just turned thirteen to follow a dream that many never get to follow all the way through to the end and they believed in him fully. they express how proud they are of him when they do talk, but he doesn’t know that he believes them. he doesn’t feel that anything he’s done has been deserving of paying them back for everything they’ve given to him.

right now, he wants to be able to feel excited about his life and what he’s making again. he’s trying to better himself internally in regards to the way he views himself and his mental health, although he’s more prone to still taking steps backwards there than he was at this point previously. a lot of the ways ash has found to feel that excitement and creativity he wants (such as recreational drugs and excessive alcohol consumption and fleeting, sometimes toxic, relationships) do damage to his mental wellbeing, so it’s a balancing act at the moment.

more than having truly lost joy in making music, he’s burnt out. his latest album lovesick was emotionally exhausting because it was a partially rushed, deeply personal and vulnerable album exclusively based on an unhealthy relationship that had stretched its hold on him out over for almost six years, and then he went into making music that he couldn’t relate to at all and didn’t really fit his image all because bc thought it would sell well.

the burn out in his personal life has affected the burn out in his professional life he would be feeling anyway and made it ten times worse. it feels more hopeless because he doesn’t have much else going for him. in the past few months, his relationship with alcohol and drugs also reverted back to unhealthy after he was doing better with it for a while, not helped by a really bad stint with his mental health. all of this was at its worse in june before he went on hiatus, and in this universe, his behavior was more of a factor in his hiatus than him practically begging to leave the group because ash is more resigned to the fact that he chose to sign back on with bc and that that’s on him. instead, there was more of a push by his manager, who knew that ash was on the road to a major scandal if action wasn’t taken.

almost all of his conflicts are internal right now. he’s become successful enough that external factors other than the large umbrella of having to remain in titan can be negotiated, but he’s too tired to do so because of everything going on inside of him. there’s a lot of negative feelings going on inside of him, and he’s trying to deal with them one by one, but it’s hard to see the weight of them easing that way.

Hi all! I’m making a new podcast and I’d love to get some voice actors in it! Tag a friend you think would be interested!

Cherrin City Soundbytes is an anthology series about the lives of people living in the world's most prominent city of superheroes. Ranging from annoyingly mundane to cosmically fantastic, these stories try to capture the reality of this world's average. What get to be mundane when a bug alien from outer space saves your life? What is moral when a laid off employee tries to drown only the financial district? Most people are just trying to get by, and this is what we get to hear. As the name implies, these episodes will mostly be short. The show focuses on the humanity of people, despite their fantastical environment. The episodes will tend to be kind of... somber, but not devoid of hope.

Cherrin City Soundbytes is a Piece of Cake Podcasting Network Production! As such, we highly encourage Black, Indigenous and Mixed voice actors, as well as other actors of colour to audition, though others may do so as long as they respect the listed identities of the characters. Again to reiterate: please audition for parts that reflect your identity. For example, if you are not South Asian, do not audition for the specifically South Asian roles. If you are not nonbinary, please do not audition for the specifically nonbinary roles. Alternatively, if a role has its gender listed as open, that means any person of any gender may audition for that role. There are 17 different roles, so please stick to the ones that fit you or can accommodate you! In addition to this, please be 18 years of age or older to audition.

For each audition, you may do up to three takes of each line. Please compile them all into a single .mp3 or .wav file. If you are accepted for this podcast, we will be doing remote recordings with mandatory synchronous table reads. Please audition with the recording space you will use if hired. These roles will be paid $40 CAD over paypal.

Content warnings for this year of production include: violence, foul language, body horror, death, kidnapping, manipulation, body dysphoria and large insects. Roles

The Cherrin University Radio Host

Gender: Written as a cis woman, but trans and nonbinary people who are comfortable with she/her pronouns may audition

Ethnicity: South Asian

Age: Late teens, early twenties

Description: The Cherrin university radio host is an anonymous young woman who feels passionately for under discussed causes. Whether or not she does anything for them outside of ranting on a late night radio show is a bit of a sore spot, but no matter the issue she takes it seriously.

Lines:

It is 2:55 am, which means that it is technically the Cherrin City day of Super Powered Individuals Remembrance. Created by the city about 4 years ago, on paper the day exists to remember every super powered individual who has died. In action, the city uses it to lionize the dead members of their private task force and coerce more people into joining it.

The problem with being perceivable is that people look at you. And when people look at you, and they keep looking at you, you start to get recognized. (long pause) That has not always been a pleasant thing, in my experience.

Solla

Age: several thousand years old, but doesn't really show it

Description: Solla is a dedicated member to the Cherrin City Starlight Watchers Squad, and is accustomed to working with her team both in bringing down extra terrestrial villains and tackling the enthusiastic and seemingly-ceaseless questions of the Cherrin City press. Polite, patient to a fault and kind of the mom of her group.

Description: A gay, recently graduated costume designer trying to make it in Cherrin in the early 2000s. Also recently dumped, and kinda lonely. Very good at what he does, but uncomfortable with discussions of money.

Description: He's a villain with the power to make people feel extreme amounts of guilt and perhaps other things as well. An intelligent man who has lost interest in trying to make it in life through legal methods, but someone who never lost his deep sense of empathy for others.

I didn't know what to do. I didn't know how to help him at all. So we waited, hoping for someone to find us. But, by the time they finally found us, there was no more us.

What you feel is what you feel. It's real and worthy and you cannot make it stop by assuming that because worse things have happened, what happened to you is not valid.

Description: Someone who is going to therapy and trying to get over their guilt. Uncomfortable opening up to others, but is also unwilling to deny strangers' questions.

The Interviewer

Description: Despite the fact that filming is all but banned in Cherrin City, this interviewer is an out-of-towner attempting to make a documentary about super powered individuals. They're hoping that a certain real estate agent will be able to provide juicy and shocking details about her super powered clientele.

okay. alright. i’m doing it. here’s a list of AUs that i have toyed with for the robot and marshmallow, none of which have solid titles (and i will answer questions about any of them):

the big story: the one for publishing, so far. both the most finished and the oldest original story. Adam is a runaway police robot who comes to a group of sympathetic humans to find a new body and a new life as a free man. Ted is part of that group and ends up helping him. goes HARD into the AI minutiae and modern concepts about robotics in a five-minutes-into-the-future setting. tackles mental illness, disability, and is generally super soft and low-key.

team winions: workshopped but not written. still nailing certain things down. basically Ted’s the main support on an esports team and Adam is his newly traded-in DPS/lane partner/AD carry. over the course of a season they do the cute bonding thing, and they and the rest of their misfit team eventually secure a finals win for an NA region that’s pretty much never won anything before that. oh, and this one has art! i mean it’s an old art from when i was first thinking of having Adam be on another team instead of a new trade to the one Ted’s on, but STILL AN ART.

(the one who gets traded away is Owen; Rani swaps to top lane, and Angie and Malak stay in the same positions.)

post-apocalyptica: this was an idea for a platformer. basically, the world has ended. Ted wakes up from complete stasis in a hospital after a few hundred years - healed of whatever it was that got him into stasis in the first place - to find that no one’s left but robots (not androids, though) and a voice on a headset. the voice guides him through the ruins of the city to find meds and possibly other survivors (a thing the voice doesn’t recommend). but when he finds those survivors, he finds out that they were woken up too. by the same voice. every single one of them rejected it once they found out what it’d done, and now they’re fighting the robots to ‘take back the city’.

the voice expects Ted to join them at that point, but he doesn’t. instead he asks where the voice is broadcasting from. then he goes all the way to the top of a ruined skyscraper, and on the very top floor he finds Adam hooked up to a bank of servers. this is the last android, trapped by the limitations of his own memory-bloat, kept functional by a mess of wires that connect him to his own massive server room of a brain. upon seeing this, Ted sits down, unpacks his lunch and his meds, and settles in to try and make the guy a little less lonely.

space, idea 1: one of two different ideas that i’ve considered the two goobers for in the same universe; at this point i’ve decided that if Ted gets one, then someone else will have to get the other, because I want to reuse my goddamn space universe. barring that, i could use another idea for a framing device, but i’ll talk about that later. for now, we will say Ted is in training to become a human partner for a ship pilot AI. or was. he’s being threatened with getting kicked out.

why? who knows. it’s Ted. that is not the point. the point is that he is given an opportunity to redeem himself by joining an experimental program that will give him telekinetic powers via alien spores, but to harness them he has to have nanotech and an AI implanted into his nervous system to monitor and regulate the bits of his brain that will spontaneously burst into irreparable cancer the moment he starts the treatment. the cancer is the flipside of a radical regenerative ability that the spores also cause.

Adam is the AI, one of many. he doesn’t want to be there. none of them do. it’s a last resort assignment given to AIs that are about to be sent to run remote He3 scoops out in the sticks. Ted is also one of many humans and most of them are pseudo-dropouts for one reason or another just like he is. very few of them are well-adjusted, and the usual anime training school shenanigans ensue.

but then a dark thing happens. a test subject who was thought dead seemingly comes back and starts killing the AIs, which can potentially kill the people who really need them in their brains. panic ensues; the leader of the program tries for as long as he can to cover it up because it’s a skeleton in his closet, specifically, but eventually it comes back to bite him and everyone else on the station. so it’s up to Ted and Adam and their friend-group to save the day and get everyone who’s still alive off the station in one piece.

space, idea 2: Adam is a freshly minted AI who has a problem: he goes through partners like other people go through shoes. technically he has the right to refuse anyone for any reason, but his handlers think it’s getting a little ridiculous that he’s refused so many. it’s also expensive to keep trying to match him up with people again and again, and no algorithm can really predict the personality profiles that’ll end up being compatible with him since so many have proven not to be.

then Ted stumbles into his airlock, and he gets An Idea: the human can’t act in ways that are incompatible if his good word is the only thing keeping them from getting arrested. so, he takes advantage of the opportunity and says he wants this one as his partner. this one that’s an actual criminal.

his handlers give up, and this is how the story begins. i don’t know where it will go from there. maybe i’ll use my conspiracy plot where Zach’s trying to start a galactic civil war and they uncover his machinations together. or maybe i’ll use the Fermi paradox plot where they’re scouting and they find a Pioneer-level probe out in space only to find its planet of origin completely dead except for a lone caretaker AI overseeing the stored memories and personalities of a million long-forgotten souls. it’s the kind of setup that can go anywhere.

the framing device: but then there’s this. this thing i thought of to tie them all together. if i start with the last and write the rest, then this would be the thing that let me keep writing AUs with abandon: the VR idea. set in my space universe, it would be a procedurally generated full-immersion VR experience compatible with both humans and AIs that allowed them to live fully fleshed-out alternate stories for themselves, either alone or with others. the stories would follow narratives, have plots, have stakes; the promise is that you can spend your time in the sim being the storybook version of yourself.

now, there are settings. when you go in you can tweak the realism, set up what tags and genres you feel like going for, how much drama you want, how much violence you’re feeling up to seeing or experiencing. and all of it is safe, controlled, and probably really expensive. but it’s supposedly the best vacation your credits can buy you without having to go offworld, so it’s an immediate sensation in-universe.

this would be how i’d tie it all together. and i could use it for multiple character pairings. i could even reuse characters if i said it stored imprints of previous users or had stock characters. but for Ted and Adam? they’d use it as a way to meet and fall in love and be with each other in a thousand timelines across a thousand different worlds, and they’d never get tired of it.

anyway, yeah. those are just the ORIGINAL ones. i’d write them in WoW or Shadowrun or Divinity: Original Sin or Dragon Age or Mass Effect or Stardew Valley or Slime Rancher or Cyberpunk or DnD or Fallout or Starcraft or Overwatch or ANY universe if i thought i could get away with it. these boys will always jump into any AU i dip my toes into, and be the first to volunteer themselves for any plot i come up with. if i bring one, the other is coming too in one form or another. that’s just how they are.

now you all know why i never get anything done that doesn’t have them in it.

Terror (Final Effect/Gate AU Snippet)

When not one but two gates into other worlds had opened, the Saderan Empire had been convinced that the gods were on their side. It didn’t take them long to realise how wrong they were. Alnus Hill soon fell to the enemy, but even worse news was to come from the other gate. At least their opponents at Alnus Hill were human. The same could not be said of the beings that came through the other gate.

Not a single soldier had returned from the other gate. All twenty thousand of them had been lost. The empire had mustered a further forty thousand to try to hold the gate. They had died in less than an hour, overrun by a swarm of monstrous creatures that poured out of the gate in numbers beyond counting.

By the end of that first disastrous day, the entire area around the gate was coated in a strange purple slime and pulsing, quivering structures made of flesh were rising up toward the sky. Late that night there was an explosion. The gate itself had been destroyed - something that should have been impossible. Yet from the ruins, the strange creatures constructed a gate of their own, and from it emerged still more of the foul beings.

Within a week the entire province had fallen. The creatures slew any who dared to oppose them, and it wasn’t long before the empire began to notice disturbing similarities between new breeds of the creatures and the war beasts the empire had deployed against them. These… these things were assimilating the war beasts and taking the best characteristics of each to increase their own power.

Worse, the creatures had demonstrated the ability to counter magic. Not all of them could do it, but amongst them were powerful beasts capable of bending reality and unleashing storms of psychic lightning that could slaughter entire formations of troops in a few moments of horror. Soon, the skies and even the seas were full of the creatures, and the empire’s forces were annihilated time and time again.

For centuries, the Saderan Empire had prided itself on the discipline and skill of its troops. But against these creatures that combined brutal and unrelenting fury with unnatural cunning, they found themselves rendered all but helpless. At the forefront of the assault were titanic creatures so large that they could simply trample entire legions beneath their feet. They seemed immune to even the heaviest bombardment, and the great blades they wielded could cleave entire buildings in half with ease. Not even the empire’s mightiest fortresses could resist them, and a single such creature was responsible for levelling a renowned fortress that had stood unchallenged for more than a thousand years.

As the Saderan retreat turned into a complete rout, their fleeing troops were ruthlessly run down by packs of swift, nimble creatures that could cover ground at speeds that put even the fastest horses to shame. Worse, these creatures were even faster on the strange purple slime their fellows constantly spread, making any attempt to ambush the creatures impossible. They would strike with impunity, ripping and tearing into vulnerable groups of soldiers, only to retreat when help arrived. If the soldiers tried to form into larger groups, they would find themselves boxed in by the swifter creatures while stronger, more heavily armoured foes crushed them without mercy.

In less than a month, the Saderan Empire had lost more than half of its territory with military losses placed in excess of two hundred thousand legionnaires and more than double that number of militia and emergency levies. The creatures were tireless and fearless, and each battle only further refined their tactics. Grimly, the Saderans realised that the creatures did not behave as individual soldiers. Instead, they fought as though they were all part of one gigantic organism, every one of them fighting in perfection harmony and unison.

With nothing left to lose, the collapsing empire turned to its other foes for help, to the ‘green men’ who hailed from a country they called Japan. The creatures paused for the first time when they encountered the Japanese. From amongst their number came one of the inhumanly intelligent creatures that served as a leader. It reached out with psychic powers far beyond the understanding of either the Japanese or the Saderans, and the message it sent was simple.

Stay out of our way. 

And with the words came visions of a swarm numerous beyond counting and of massive starships that could smash solar systems and turn planets into dust.

The Japanese retreated. 

And then creature spoke again, this time to the Saderan Empire. 

We are the Imperial Zerg. Surrender or be consumed. You thought to attack one of our colonies. You failed. Surrender or be consumed. Mercy will be offered only once. Resistance is futile. Surrender or be consumed. You have three days to decide. What can you hope to do against us? You are fools, and we are the children of an empire that has conquered universes. Surrender or be consumed.

On the second day, the Saderan Empire offered its unconditional surrender.

The Dia-Farron frowned. “I think we might have a situation here.”

“Oh?” Her superior raised one eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

“You know how we sent that punitive force through the gateway after some dimensional anomaly appeared near one of our Imperial Zerg colonies?”

“Yes…?”

“Well, we wouldn’t normally wait a month before asking for a formal report, but things were going so smoothly after the initial engagement that we decided to let them handle things themselves. We have been meaning to test how capable the new Coordinators are, but I think they might have gone overboard.”

“…” Her superior sighed. “Please tell me they haven’t exterminated the locals. I know they started the fight, but extermination seems a bit extreme considering they inflicted about, what, a hundred casualties before we wiped out their expeditionary force?”

“It was a hundred and five casualties,” the Dia-Farron replied. “And we just got the first formal report back. Have a look.”

The older Dia-Farron read through the report. “Oh… crap.”

“We’re in trouble, aren’t we?”

“You think? They’ve basically conquered most of the world, wiped out just about anything even vaguely resembling a military force in this ‘Saderan Empire’, and they’ve also encountered what appears to be people from an unmapped alternate version of Earth.”

“On the upside, the Coordinators did offer the Saderans a chance to surrender, and they were smart enough to take it. They didn’t just go nuts and wipe out the Japanese either.”

“That would have been awkward considering a decent proportion of the people who live in this sector are descended from Earth. Sure, it’s a different Earth, but I doubt they’d have been happy if they got wiped out.” The older Dia-Farron sighed. “At least we know the Coordinators are capable if a bit aggressive. The tactics and strategies are all sound if not necessarily subtle. But we’re still going to have to explain this.”

“Technically, we were within our rights to launch a counterattack.”

“I know, and by all accounts, the Saderans are a nasty bunch who seem to believe they can pillage, murder, loot, and whatever else they feel like doing without consequences. However, the Imperial Zerg aren’t exactly known for their restraint, especially if we’re not around to keep an eye on them. For crying out loud, they’ve been assimilating mages and using them to create Imperial Zerg who can use magic.”

“In fairness, those variations do seem very handy to have around. Sure, we’ll need to test them and review their genetic sequences more closely, but I’d give them high marks for the modifications. If nothing else it shows that the Imperial Zerg are more than capable of performing genetic alteration without our assistance although it’s far less sophisticated and way more instinctual than it would be if we were involved. It’s a bit blunt too - like trimming a hedge with a bazooka.”

“Yes, we’ve collected a lot of useful data, but we need to think about how we’re going to explain this.” The older Dia-Farron grimaced. “I might have to call in a few favours. Still, the current emperor is a quarter Dia-Farron. We might actually be able to make this work if we can just frame it correctly.”

“Let’s hope so.”

After annihilating the invading force, the Imperial Zerg were given free reign by the Dia-Farron to execute a counter attack, so they could test the competence of a new form of Imperial Zerg. These coordinators are much like cerebrates in that they function as tacticians and strategists in command of the Imperial Zerg forces. Note that the Coordinators are heavily socialised. Indeed, they are reared in basically the same way as children to ensure their loyalty to the Empire. And much like children, they are eager to prove themselves to their parents, which is what led to the Imperial Zerg getting a bit overenthusiastic against the Saderans.

In practical terms, there was nothing the Saderans could have done. The Imperial Zerg have been genetically enhanced to fight the worst the Grimm can offer, along with nightmares and power-mad species from countless other universes. They have faced technologically advanced species with firepower comparable to the Grand Empire Alliance and proven their worth, and they have faced biological horrors that make even the Tyranids look like cuddly puppies and emerged victorious. A bunch of people in Roman-era armour with a bit of magic aren’t even a speed bump.

Still, the whole campaign is actually extremely important since it provides the Dia-Farron with a data on how the Coordinates behave when unsupervised. They are, in typical Imperial Zerg fashion, prone to aggression toward those they view as enemies, which means it is likely necessary for Coordinators to be supervised by Imperial personnel throughout their campaigns in much the same way that titanolisks are generally personally hand-reared and supervised as well.

Hey, guess what, I’ve found another screen rant I want to react to! I wasn’t planning to do any more but, reading through this article, I just have SO many problems with it... So Let’s do another, agree or disagree with a Screenrant article made by someone with no bias at all. (Sarcasm for the last part by the way.) So let’s see:

Agreed with this point. People act like, if the characters weren’t on screen then they disappeared or something. Maybe they were just living their own lives?

... I don’t even understand this article. Apparently this is 20 things people get wrong and this point is that the timeline can make sense, but then OP goes on to say “However, the more characters were introduced and the more worlds the characters ventured into, it became clearer and clearer that time didn't work the same way everywhere... However, in a world of fairytales, expecting anything more than that is simply asking too much. What does it matter, exactly, when some of these events took place as long as we know that they were a long time ago in a universe not at all like our own?”

Like, so that means this isn’t something people get wrong - the timeline DOESN’T make sense - so what the hell is it doing in this article? You can’t claim you’ve solved it just because you shrug and go “yeah but it’s magic so what do you expect?”

I mean the text directly conflicts the title/bullet point. Luckily I can still safely say I disagree, both with the title and the text because the timeline became f*cked, and just making an embarrassed shrugging face doesn’t change that.

I can’t even say disagree because this is just plain wrong! I don’t quite understand this writer. I can’t tell what they’re deal is, like did they just give a poor title to their article?

Season 1 - The Original Curse Season 2 - Belle and Sneezy lost their memories. Season 3 - Everyone lost a year. Season 5 - Camelot Season 6 - Emma lost her memories Season 7 - Another Curse.

Notice how I left out 4? Well this is where I’m getting confused because this is what OP had to say about Season 4: “While season four dabbled with alternate universes, memories were never wiped or reset in the way they were in every other season.”

... But their memories WERE wiped! They were essentially in a curse because their memories WERE wiped and they WERE given new identities just like the original curse. So yes, memory wipes did in fact happen every single season!

Sorry, dear writer, but let me just fill you in. Aiding and abetting a fellow criminal IS A CRIME! Emma did wrong and she was punished for it. I don’t necessarily agree with what Neal did but he is not responsible for where Emma ended up.

And I added the Hook part because my God, the writer of this article couldn’t be more obvious a CS shipper if they had every sentence end with swans and pirate flags.

It’s amazing how, even dead, they’re still threatened by Neal’s character.

Maybe this was true in S6, but by S7 they had clearly retconned it, making the Wish Realm a very real place. Otherwise there’s a ton of plot holes and you’ve got to be a real idiot to say you’d rather accept plot holes than that the Wish Realm might actually be real.

(Also, just saying, another terrible title because what happened to Emma and Regina when they were in the Wish Realm very much DID happen. So again, really poor titles for this article that clearly doesn’t know what it’s point is.)

“Regina, as we know, went back and forth to points outside of Maine many times during the preceding 28 years.” It was actually explained, by Regina herself to Hook in Season 2, that because she (and he) had no cursed memories, crossing the town line would not affect them.

“Greg and Tamara are also able to cross the town lines, with Greg even remembering the tiny town for years and years after a traumatic encounter within it during his childhood.” Again. The town line affects people who ARE CURSED! This is made very clear! Henry can also cross the town line when he went to get Emma.

The title, once again, is misleading. People are able to leave - so long as they don’t CROSS THE TOWN LINE. That’s the part CURSED people are not able to do.

Angel Marcloid does not quit. From the experimental vaporwave of Fire-Toolz to the longform atmospherics of Mindspring Memories, along with myriad other boundary-pushing projects, the Chicago artist has uploaded enough complex and challenging auditory and visual material to crash the kind of ancient computer on which it seems appropriate to engage it. Under the new moniker Nonlocal Forecast, Angel quite literally synthesizes some of her biggest influences from the eighties’ and nineties’ prog rock, smooth jazz, and new age scenes using almost entirely digital instrumentation and programming. The result, Bubble Universe!, is an eclectic, multifaceted, eminently listenable collection of ethereal neo-muzak.

Album opener “Celestial Nervous System” instantly grounds listeners in Nonlocal Forecast’s constructed-world uncanny valley. The first half of the song runs mellifluously with no clear sense of time signature—somewhat disorienting at first glance—before settling into a very brief swing groove just ahead of the two minutes mark. The song then blooms into a bouncier passage, where organic lead guitar is integrated with the synthetic orchestration for a romp before overlapping new-age melodies close the tune. Those hallmarks—time and tempo fluidity, juxtaposition of performance and programming, and diversity of musical intensities—are continually implemented and reinvented as the album proceeds. “Planck Lengths” features rapidfire Mixolydian keyboard dancing buoyed by rolling drums and occasional chirping birds; “Cloud-Hidden” perhaps most directly evokes an alternate-universe Rush radio hit remixed, with a dash of Richard Souther. “The Direct Path” sheds percussion, opting instead to form its base on a deep melodic motif (on… plucked strings? melodic drums?), which is accented with more crisp lead guitar and stargazing keyboard.

Angel audaciously “features” herself, in Fire-Toolz form, on the somewhat heavier “Triangular Format” which utilizes glitchy drum patterns rather than quasi-human ones and more bombastic synth tones. Sadly, this is one of the album’s shorter tracks; I could do with a full album of this autonomous collaboration. “The Evolutionary Game”, once it gets going, evokes a sense of nostalgia with its tinny keyboard melody and electronic pan-flute accompaniment. It’s conference-call-hold-music of the highest caliber, a song that you’ve definitely never heard yet you can swear you heard once twenty years ago. This din of familiarity is rebuffed by the end, though, as the percussion and heavier synth elements begin to dominate and transform the piece.

“Classical Information” puts a light swing twist in its department-store aesthetic, and has a lovely burst of more technical synth work. “Foam, Vacuum, Om” goes full-on ambient, sounding something like the musical equivalent of a bright hospital hallway at 3 AM. This relaxing soundscape extends into “Conscious Agent Combos”, as it progressively adds more active backing elements. Bird chirps return from their brief flight in album closer “Wave Nature”, which wraps things up with even more ambiance.

Altogether, Marcloid has assembled something boldly countercultural and unique with Bubble Universe!… Most modern art that conjures this retro aesthetic does so in a transformative, ironic, or modern-tinged way. Nonlocal Forecast approaches its subject matter straightforwardly and embraces what it is, not seeking to make the “uncool” cool, but making something “uncool” for those of us who like “uncool” stuff in 2019. (I’m using those quotes because I happen to be one of those people who unironically enjoys stuff like Yanni, Richard Souther, and eighties’ Rush.) I can’t imagine the investment of time it takes to program such intricate compositions, but acknowledging that, I do think the album is a little too short and a little too ambient. Its best and most novel parts by far are its most active and complex, but it would be a daunting challenge to craft a full fifty (or even forty) minutes of material like that. Nevertheless, Angel has proven herself beyond capable in yet another musical venture, and whatever comes next—for Nonlocal Forecast or any other Marcloid project—will always merit attention.

The Pollaiuolo Brothers and the Capitoline Wolf

The Pollaiuolo brothers, Florentine artists who jointly ran a flourishing workshop, first in their native city and then from about 1484 in Rome, were exceedingly productive sculptors, painters, and metal workers. There are considerable problems in attempting to disentangle their individual contributions in assessing their output, including determining a provenance for the Renaissance addition of the twins Romulus and Remus to the (also-date-disputed) Lupa Capitolina. As best as can be determined, Antonio was primarily a goldsmith and worker in bronze, whilst Piero was mainly a painter.

Though the infant twins seem only to have one function – to further illustrate and memorialize the legend of the founding of Rome – they are imputed with multiple meanings. The twins may represent the union within one city of two distinct peoples, the Latins and the Sabines. Jérôme Carcopino also made this claim in his 1925 monograph and pointed out as corroborating evidence the Sabine people’s veneration of wolves. The two distinct ethnic communities became one, as Carcopino unquaveringly relates, with the rape of the Sabine women!

But the visual characterization of the babies, no matter their obvious and concealed iconography, is itself both clever and plain, and their appearance makes sense in the light of the need to accommodate the work to the ancient bronze Lupa as well as to the style of other Lateran/Capitoline small bronzes. The approach suggests that the twins were themselves to be seen as ancient works and this, indeed, was precisely what they were taken for until Johann Joachim Winckelmann observed otherwise in the 1750s.

The sculptures can be considered, in a sense, a work of imatatio, and one that demonstrates the intimate relationship between the manufacture of small bronzes and the legacy of antiquity in the fifteenth century. In 1919 Adolfo Venturi proposed Antonio Pollaiuolo’s authorship of the twin figures of the suckling Romulus and Remus that were added to the bronze She-Wolf on the Capitol after it had been moved there from the Lateran Palace. During the Middle Ages and the early Renaissance the “Etruscan” wolf had stood first in the portico in front of the Lateran and then high against the wall of the nearby Torre degli Annibaldi. Along with other monumental ancient bronze works at the Lateran, the wolf was seen as an ancient “idol,” and one who had later become less associated with the legendary origins of Rome than with papal justice. Master Gregorious’s Twelfth-Century account also suggests how the Lupa had accrued other legendary and sexual associations reinforcing the multivalency of the bronze.

The earliest reference by an artist to the added twins is that of Albertini in 1510, though they appear 20 years earlier in a personal letter of Giovanni da Tolentino to the poet Baldassare Taccone describing Roman antiquities. Another indication that the bronze twins were added not long after Lupa’s move to the Capitol is a visual one. The dedicatory plaques on the doors of the reliquary of St. Peter’s chains at San Pietro in Vincoli, completed in 1477, are flanked by twin putti who are oddly perched on little knolls with their knees and arms raised in postures that seem to depend on those of the Capitoline Romulus and Remus.

The recent restoration and analysis of the Capitoline group have rendered problems of assessing style and manufacture of the bronze twins slightly less intractable. Certainly the sculptor seems to have had in mind antique models for an active baby. At a first face to face encounter these gaping infants with their highly regular features, punctuated by blank eyes (which would not have been visible where installed), high arching brows, bow shaped upper lips and beautifully chiseled even locks of hair look alien not only to Pollaiuolo, but to contemporary Florentine sculpture generally. The conception of the figures as “restorations” is also apparent from their poses. The way the left-hand child is seated, legs akimbo, while the other kneels on his left knee, both hands raised towards the source of succor, recalls images of the wolf on early Roman silver coinage. As such coinage also offered several other poses for the infants, the choice of this alternative may well have been guided by the Quattrocento interpretation of its meaning. The pose of the kneeling child suggests reverence, as before a source of grace, and the way the twins raise both their hands simultaneously implies reception and wonder, as at a miracle.

The most striking discovery during the 2000 restoration about the twins is their method of manufacture through which, although assembled in different poses, they emerge as truly identical. Each figure is constructed from the same six cast pieces: the head, the torso and each of the four limbs. These have been subsequently adapted to their different poses after casting by soldering together at different angles. Even the tightly bent leg of the kneeling child was adapted through cutting and resoldering at the knee. This highly unorthodox procedure had several advantages, beyond the primary thematic one of allowing the twins to look exactly the same. Requiring only one model from which waxes for two sets of limbs could be produced, it presumably saved time and avoided the technical difficulty of casting a whole figure with intricate extremities in one pour. Such an ingenious method also seems peculiarly compatible with a “Renaissance” way of conceiving of the human body in terms of an assemblage of perfected parts.

The addition of the twins helped if not to fix, then to control, the ancient work’s meaning. From a fearful symbol of judicial authority, the wolf was reinvented as an appropriately beneficent source of miraculous succor to Rome ancient and modern.

Something I've wanted to discuss for awhile now. Not intended to attack anyone and please read the whole thing for context.

There's a lot of people who use the argument that trans people are as real as the varying races and that neither are biological.

But I feel like you can't compare gender identity with race. The thing is, race is biological. Certain features evolved in people to adapt to their environment. And literally is the amount melatonin in your skin. Further more, it's proven that certain races are more prone to different diseases than one another. I.e. Native Americans suffer from diabetes more. Most races require staple diets for optimal health. Now obviously it's person to person, but the consistency remains nonetheless. (I'm Italian and despite never going to Italy there's certain things I gotta eat for my digestive system to function.)

Now back to gender. Gender, compared to sex, is universally defined as the psychological aspect of being a certain sex. So one's mind feels like something that they are not. But when we analyze this definition, what does that mean? Its important to remember that you can feel like you don't belong, or that you aren't yourself. But we are more than our bodies and physical appearance. Our bodies do not define our soul. And vice versa.

Perhaps it means you feel like you should have certain body parts, or maybe you feel as though your life would be better if you had different ones. It could also mean that perhaps you enjoy and connect with certain aspects that are associated with feminimity/masculinity.

Femininity and masculinity are social constructs. It's romanticizing the characteristics of the gender roles.Whether or not those roles have changed over time, one still wants to identify as whatever it is THEY SPECIFICALLY associate with that role. And in a way, that IS still regressive. Where does the need to obtain a match come from? Again I feel as though this comes from wanting to fit the stereotypes. Because as a female or male, you can't be scrutinized as easily for enjoying non traditional gender roles if you "technically" match those roles.

Even if you identify as something other than Specifically female or male, ask yourself, what will dissociating from what you physically are accomplish for you? What is it you're trying to fix? It goes for all people who are not considered cisgender. For non binary folks, I think it's an attempt to break those roles in vain as it just creates more labels and boxes to put people in. It's just a more convoluted version of the gender binary and allowing other people's ignorance and judgement decide for you.

And in some cases, for those who have suffered at the hands of a specific gender, its internalized shame and hatred towards associated with said gender which is NOT a healthy reason to make such a life altering decision. Please don't let someone else's actions determine your path in life.

But regardless of all this I do understand people are shitty and judgemental, I fear this can only change by not appeasing to their role, or trying to create more roles.

Break the cycle of behavior!

Now some people, just want their biology changed. And now this is the most logical imo as I think it can be somewhat compared to a body mod. You want to feel something different. Maybe look a certain way. But this can also be a form if body dismorphia. The need to fix something on your body because you became a victim to your specific circumstance (be it bullying, neglect, rape. Etc) and perhaps didn't get the proper emotional support you need or perhaps faced a trauma that makes you want to dissociate from the person who suffered it. You can't and will not solve those emotional scars with a physical change. It may even complicate things further as different forms of transition may not be reversable.

Understand, whatever one's reason for identifying as non binary, I don't have it out for you.

I DON'T think trans people are unjustified in their reasoning whatever it may be.

I will NEVER actively try and prevent you from doing as you wish as there are more important things I can focus my energy into rather than stopping someone from figuring their shit out even if I don't agree with it.

And I'll call you whatever you want because for me I don't believe gender exists. There for I don't mind calling you whatever you want.

We have certain body parts (I won't deny alternative biology) and a soul that wants to express itself. True acceptance should be living ones self as they are and not the freedom to do and act they please and have it not be a spectacle or the biggest deal. It shouldn't matter to anyone on both sides of the fence.

And I understand this shit is complicated. And again, many live in places where you can't wear what you want without being rejected. Many others feel the same way, but they’re considered an “old fashioned” minority dating back to before the 1970’s when microwaves first overwhelmed the market. Like most young adults at the time, as microwave ovens became commonplace, I chose to ignore my mother’s intuitive wisdom and joined the majority who believed microwave cooking was far too convenient to ever believe anything could be wrong with it. Chalk one up for mom’s perception, because even though she didn’t know the scientific, technical, or health reasons why, she just knew that microwave ovens were not good based on how foods tasted when they were cooked in them. She didn’t like the way the texture of the microwaved food changed either.

“Microwaving baby formulas converted certain trans-amino acids into their synthetic cis-isomers. Synthetic isomers, whether cis-amino acids or trans-fatty acids, are not biologically active. Further, one of the amino acids, L-proline, was converted to its d-isomer, which is known to be neurotoxic (poisonous to the nervous system) and nephrotoxic (poisonous to the kidneys). It’s bad enough that many babies are not nursed, but now they are given fake milk (baby formula) made even more toxic via microwaving.”

Microwaved blood kills patient

In 1991, there was a lawsuit in Oklahoma concerning the hospital use of a microwave oven to warm blood needed in a transfusion. The case involved a hip surgery patient, Norma Levitt, who died from a simple blood transfusion. It seems the nurse had warmed the blood in a microwave oven. This tragedy makes it very apparent that there’s much more to “heating” with microwaves than we’ve been led to believe. Blood for transfusions is routinely warmed, but not in microwave ovens. In the case of Mrs. Levitt, the microwaving altered the blood and it killed her.

It’s very obvious that this form of microwave radiation “heating” does something to the substances it heats. It’s also becoming quite apparent that people who process food in a microwave oven are also ingesting these “unknowns”.

Because the body is electrochemical in nature, any force that disrupts or changes human electrochemical events will affect the physiology of the body. This is further described in Robert O. Becker’s book, The Body Electric, and in Ellen Sugarman’s book, Warning, the Electricity Around You May Be Hazardous to Your Health.

Scientific evidence and facts

In Comparative Study of Food Prepared Conventionally and in the Microwave Oven, published by Raum & Zelt in 1992, at 3(2): 43, it states

“A basic hypothesis of natural medicine states that the introduction into the human body of molecules and energies, to which it is not accustomed, is much more likely to cause harm than good. Microwaved food contains both molecules and energies not present in food cooked in the way humans have been cooking food since the discovery of fire. Microwave energy from the sun and other stars is direct current based. Artificially produced microwaves, including those in ovens, are produced from alternating current and force a billion or more polarity reversals per second in every food molecule they hit. Production of unnatural molecules is inevitable. Naturally occurring amino acids have been observed to undergo isomeric changes (changes in shape morphing) as well as transformation into toxic forms, under the impact of microwaves produced in ovens. One short-term study found significant and disturbing changes in the blood of individuals consuming microwaved milk and vegetables. Eight volunteers ate various combinations of the same foods cooked different ways. All foods that were processed through the microwave ovens caused changes in the blood of the volunteers. Hemoglobin levels decreased and over all white cell levels and cholesterol levels increased. Lymphocytes decreased. Luminescent (light-emitting) bacteria were employed to detect energetic changes in the blood. Significant increases were found in the luminescence of these bacteria when exposed to blood serum obtained after the consumption of microwaved food.”

The Swiss clinical study

Dr. Hans Ulrich Hertel, who is now retired, worked as a food scientist for many years with one of the major Swiss food companies that do business on a global scale. A few years ago, he was fired from his job for questioning certain processing procedures that denatured the food.

In 1991, he and a Lausanne University professor published a research paper indicating that food cooked in microwave ovens could pose a greater risk to health than food cooked by conventional means. An article also appeared in issue 19 of the Journal Franz Weber in which it was stated that the consumption of food cooked in microwave ovens had cancerous effects on the blood. The research paper itself followed the article. On the cover of the magazine there was a picture of the Grim Reaper holding a microwave oven in one of his hands.

Dr. Hertel was the first scientist to conceive and carry out a quality clinical study on the effects microwaved nutrients have on the blood and physiology of the human body. His small but well controlled study showed the degenerative force produced in microwave ovens and the food processed in them. The scientific conclusion showed that microwave cooking changed the nutrients in the food; and, changes took place in the participants’ blood that could cause deterioration in the human system. Hertel’s scientific study was done along with Dr. Bernard H. Blanc of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and the University Institute for Biochemistry.

In intervals of two to five days, the volunteers in the study received one of the following food variants on an empty stomach:

Raw milk

The same milk conventionally cooked

Pasteurized milk

The same raw milks cooked in a microwave oven

Raw vegetables from an organic farm; (6) the same vegetables cooked conventionally

The same vegetables frozen and defrosted in a microwave oven and

The same vegetables cooked in the microwave oven.

Once the volunteers were isolated, blood samples were taken from every volunteer immediately before eating. Then, blood samples were taken at defined intervals after eating from the above milk or vegetable preparations.

Significant changes were discovered in the blood samples from the intervals following the foods cooked in the microwave oven. These changes included a decrease in all hemoglobin and cholesterol values, especially the ratio of HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol) values. Lymphocytes (white blood cells) showed a more distinct short-term decrease following the intake of microwaved food than after the intake of all the other variants. Each of these indicators pointed to degeneration. Additionally, there was a highly significant association between the amount of microwave energy in the test foods and the luminous power of luminescent bacteria exposed to serum from test persons who ate that food. This led Dr. Hertel to the conclusion that such technically derived energies may, indeed, be passed along to man inductively via eating microwaved food.

According to Dr. Hertel, “Leukocytosis, which cannot be accounted for by normal daily deviations, is taken very seriously by hemotologists. Leukocytes are often signs of pathogenic effects on the living system, such as poisoning and cell damage. The increase of leukocytes with the microwaved foods were more pronounced than with all the other variants. It appears that these marked increases were caused entirely by ingesting the microwaved substances. This process is based on physical principles and has already been confirmed in the literature. The apparent additional energy exhibited by the luminescent bacteria was merely an extra confirmation.

There is extensive scientific literature concerning the hazardous effects of direct microwave radiation on living systems. It is astonishing, therefore, to realize how little effort has been taken to replace this detrimental technique of microwaves with technology more in accordance with nature. Technically produced microwaves are based on the principle of alternating current. Atoms, molecules, and cells hit by this hard electromagnetic radiation are forced to reverse polarity 1-100 billion times a second. There are no atoms, molecules or cells of any organic system able to withstand such a violent, destructive power for any extended period of time, not even in the low energy range of milliwatts. Of all the natural substances – which are polar – the oxygen of water molecules reacts most sensitively. This is how microwave cooking heat is generated – friction from this violence in water molecules. Structures of molecules are torn apart, molecules are forcefully deformed, called structural isomerism, and thus become impaired in quality. This is contrary to conventional heating of food where heat transfers convectionally from without to within. Cooking by microwaves begins within the cells and molecules where water is present and where the energy is transformed into frictional heat.

In addition to the violent frictional heat effects, called thermic effects, there are also athermic effects which have hardly ever been taken into account. These athermic effects are not presently measurable, but they can also deform the structures of molecules and have qualitative consequences. For example the weakening of cell membranes by microwaves is used in the field of gene altering technology. Because of the force involved, the cells are actually broken, thereby neutralizing the electrical potentials, the very life of the cells, between the outer and inner side of the cell membranes. Impaired cells become easy prey for viruses, fungi and other microorganisms. The natural repair mechanisms are suppressed and cells are forced to adapt to a state of energy emergency – they switch from aerobic to anaerobic respiration. Instead of water and carbon dioxide, the cell poisons hydrogen peroxide and carbon monoxide are produced.” The same violent deformations that occur in our bodies, when we are directly exposed to radar or microwaves, also occur in the molecules of foods cooked in a microwave oven. This radiation results in the destruction and deformation of food molecules.

Microwaving also creates new compounds, called radiolytic compounds, which are unknown fusions not found in nature. Radiolytic compounds are created by molecular decomposition – decay – as a direct result of radiation. Microwave oven manufacturers insist that microwaved and irradiated foods do not have any significantly higher radiolytic compounds than do broiled, baked or other conventionally cooked foods. The scientific clinical evidence presented here has shown that this is simply a lie. In America, neither universities nor the federal government have conducted any tests concerning the effects on our bodies from eating microwaved foods. Isn’t that a bit odd? They’re more concerned with studies on what happens if the door on a microwave oven doesn’t close properly. Once again, common sense tells us that their attention should be centered on what happens to food cooked inside a microwave oven. Since people ingest this altered food, shouldn’t there be concern for how the same decayed molecules will affect our own human biological cell structure? Industry’s action to hide the truth.

As soon as Doctors Hertel and Blanc published their results, the authorities reacted. A powerful trade organization, the Swiss Association of Dealers for Electro-apparatuses for Households and Industry, known as FEA, struck swiftly in 1992. They forced the President of the Court of Seftigen, Canton of Bern, to issue a “gag order” against Drs. Hertel and Blanc. In March 1993, Dr. Hertel was convicted for “interfering with commerce” and prohibited from further publishing his results. However, Dr. Hertel stood his ground and fought this decision over the years.

Not long ago, this decision was reversed in a judgment delivered in Strasbourg, Austria, on August 25, 1998. The European Court of Human Rights held that there had been a violation of Hertel’s rights in the 1993 decision. The European Court of Human Rights also ruled that the “gag order” issued by the Swiss court in 1992 against Dr. Hertel, prohibiting him from declaring that microwave ovens are dangerous to human health, was contrary to the right to freedom of expression. In addition, Switzerland was ordered to pay Dr. Hertel compensation.

Who invented microwave ovens?

The Nazis, for use in their mobile support operations, originally developed microwave “radiomissor” cooking ovens to be used for the invasion of Russia. By being able to utilize electronic equipment for preparation of meals on a mass scale, the logistical problem of cooking fuels would have been eliminated, as well as the convenience of producing edible products in a greatly reduced time-factor.

After the war, the Allies discovered medical research done by the Germans on microwave ovens. These documents, along with some working microwave ovens, were transferred to the United States War Department and classified for reference and “further scientific investigation.” The Russians had also retrieved some microwave ovens and now have thorough research on their biological effects. As a result, their use was outlawed in the Soviet Union. The Soviets issued an international warning on the health hazards, both biological and environmental, of microwave ovens and similar frequency electronic devices.

Other Eastern European scientists also reported the harmful effects of microwave radiation and set up strict environmental limits for their usage. The United States has not accepted the European reports of harmful effects, even though the EPA estimates that radio frequency and microwave radiation sources in America are increasing at 15% per year.

Carcinogens in microwaved food

In Dr. Lita Lee’s book, Health Effects of Microwave Radiation – Microwave Ovens, and in the March and September 1991 issues of Earthletter, she stated that every microwave oven leaks electro-magnetic radiation, harms food, and converts substances cooked in it to dangerous organ-toxic and carcinogenic products. Further research summarized in this article reveal that microwave ovens are far more harmful than previously imagined.

The following is a summary of the Russian investigations published by the Atlantis Raising Educational Center in Portland, Oregon. Carcinogens were formed in virtually all foods tested. No test food was subjected to more microwaving than necessary to accomplish the purpose, i.e., cooking, thawing, or heating to insure sanitary ingestion.

Here’s a summary of some of the results:

Microwaving prepared meats sufficiently to insure sanitary ingestion caused formation of d-Nitrosodienthanolamines, a well-known carcinogen.

Microwaving milk and cereal grains converted some of their amino acids into carcinogens.

Thawing frozen fruits converted their glucoside and galactoside containing fractions into carcinogenic substances.

Extremely short exposure of raw, cooked or frozen vegetables converted their plant alkaloids into carcinogens.

Carcinogenic free radicals were formed in microwaved plants, especially root vegetables.

Decrease in nutritional value

Russian researchers also reported a marked acceleration of structural degradation leading to a decreased food value of 60 to 90% in all foods tested. Among the changes observed were:

Deceased bio-availability of vitamin B complex, vitamin C, vitamin E, essential minerals and lipotropics factors in all food tested.

Various kinds of damaged to many plant substances, such as alkaloids, glucosides, galactosides and nitrilosides.

The degradation of nucleo-proteins in meats.

Microwave sickness is discovered

The Russians did research on thousands of workers who had been exposed to microwaves during the development of radar in the 1950’s. Their research showed health problems so serious that the Russians set strict limits of 10 microwatts exposure for workers and one microwatt for civilians.

In Robert O. Becker’s book, The Body Electric, he described Russian research on the health effects of microwave radiation, which they called “microwave sickness.” On page 314, Becker states:

“It’s [Microwave sickness] first signs are low blood pressure and slow pulse. The later and most common manifestations are chronic excitation of the sympathetic nervous system [stress syndrome] and high blood pressure. This phase also often includes headache, dizziness, eye pain, sleeplessness, irritability, anxiety, stomach pain, nervous tension, inability to concentrate, hair loss, plus an increased incidence of appendicitis, cataracts, reproductive problems, and cancer. The chronic symptoms are eventually succeeded by crisis of adrenal exhaustion and ischemic heart disease [the blockage of coronary arteries and heart attacks].”

According to Dr. Lee, changes are observed in the blood chemistries and the rates of certain diseases among consumers of microwaved foods. The symptoms above can easily be caused by the observations shown below. The following is a sample of these changes:

“Lymphatic disorders were observed, leading to decreased ability to prevent certain types of cancers. An increased rate of cancer cell formation was observed in the blood. Increased rates of stomach and intestinal cancers were observed. Higher rates of digestive disorders and a gradual breakdown of the systems of elimination were observed.”

Microwave research conclusions

The following were the most significant German and Russian research operations facilities concerning the biological effects of microwaves:

The initial research conducted by the Germans during the Barbarossa military campaign, at the Humbolt-Universitat zu Berlin (1942-1943); and

From 1957 and up to the present [until the end of the cold war], the Russian research operations were conducted at: the Institute of Radio Technology at Kinsk

Byelorussian Autonomous Region; and, at the Institute of Radio Technology at Rajasthan in the Rossiskaja Autonomous Region, both in the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics

In most cases, the foods used for research analysis were exposed to microwave propagation at an energy potential of 100 kilowatts/cm3/second, to the point considered acceptable for sanitary, normal ingestion. The effects noted by both German and Russian researchers is presented in three categories:

Category I, Cancer-Causing Effects

Category II, Nutritive Destruction of Foods

Category III, Biological Effects of Exposure

CANCER-CAUSING EFFECTS

Creation of a “binding effect” to radioactivity in the atmosphere, thus causing a marked increase in the amount of alpha and beta particle saturation in foods

Alteration of elemental food-substances, causing disorders in the digestive system by unstable catabolism* of foods subjected to microwaves [*the metabolic breakdown process]

Due to chemical alterations within food substances, malfunctions were observed within the lymphatic systems [absorbent vessels], causing a degeneration of the immune potentials of the body to protect against certain forms of neoplastics [abnormal growths of tissue]

Ingestion of microwaved foods caused a higher percentage of cancerous cells within the blood serum [cytomas – cell tumors such as sarcoma]

Microwave emissions caused alteration in the catabolic [metabolic breakdown] behavior of glucoside [hydrolyzed dextrose] and galactoside [oxidized alcohol] elements within frozen fruits when thawed in this manner

Microwave emission caused alteration of the catabolic [metabolic breakdown] behavior of plant alkaloids [organic nitrogen based elements] when raw, cooked, or frozen vegetables were exposed for even extremely short durations

Cancer causing free radicals [highly reactive incomplete molecules] were formed within certain trace mineral molecular formations in plant substances, and in particular, raw root-vegetables; and

In a statistically high percentage of persons, microwaved foods caused stomach and intestinal cancerous growths, as well as a general degeneration of peripheral cellular tissues, with a gradual breakdown of the function of the digestive and excretive systems.

DECREASE IN FOOD VALUE

Microwave exposure caused significant decreases in the nutritive value of all foods researched. The following are the most important findings:

A decrease in the bioavailability [capability of the body to utilize the nutriment] of B-complex vitamins, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, essential minerals and lipotropics in all foods

A loss of 60-90% of the vital energy field content of all tested foods

A reduction in the metabolic behavior and integration process capability of alkaloids [organic nitrogen based elements], glucosides and galactosides, and nitrilosides

A destruction of the nutritive value of nucleoproteins in meats

A marked acceleration of structural disintegration in all foods.

BIOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF EXPOSURE

Exposure to microwave emissions also had an unpredictably negative effect upon the general biological welfare of humans. This was not discovered until the Russians experimented with highly sophisticated equipment and discovered that a human did not even need to ingest the material substance of the microwaved food substances: that even exposure to the energy-field itself was sufficient to cause such adverse side effects that the use of any such microwave apparatus was forbidden in 1976 by Soviet state law.

Loss of balance and circuiting of the bioelectric strengths within the ascending reticular activating system [the system which controls the function of consciousness]

A long term cumulative loss of vital energies within humans, animals and plants that were located within a 500-meter radius of the operational equipment

Long lasting residual effects of magnetic “deposits” were located throughout the nervous system and lymphatic system

A destabilization and interruption in the production of hormones and maintenance of hormonal balance in males and females

Markedly higher levels of brainwave disturbance in the alpha, theta, and delta wave signal patterns of persons exposed to microwave emission fields

Because of this brainwave disturbance, negative psychological effects were noted, including loss of memory, loss of ability to concentrate, suppressed emotional threshold, deceleration of intellective processes, and interruptive sleep episodes in a statistically higher percentage of individuals subjected to continual range emissive field effects of microwave apparatus, either in cooking apparatus or in transmission stations.

Forensic Research Conclusions

From the twenty-eight above enumerated indications, the use of microwave apparatus is definitely not advisable; and, with the decision of the Soviet government in 1976, present scientific opinion in many countries concerning the use of such apparatus is clearly in evidence.

Due to the problem of random magnetic residulation and binding within the biological systems of the body (Category III:9), which can ultimately effect the neurological systems, primarily the brain and neuroplexuses (nerve centers), long term depolarization of tissue neuroelectric circuits can result. Because these effects can cause virtually irreversible damage to the neuroelectrical integrity of the various components of the nervous system (I. R. Luria, Novosibirsk 1975a), ingestion of microwaved foods is clearly contraindicated in all respects. Their magnetic residual effect can render the pyschoneural receptor components of the brain more subject to influence psychologically by artificially induced microwave radio frequency fields from transmission stations and TV relay-networks.

The theoretical possibility of psycho telemetric influence (the capability of affecting human behavior by transmitted radio signals at controlled frequencies) has been suggested by Soviet neuropsychological investigations at Uralyera and Novosibirsk (Luria and Perov, 1974a, 1975c, 1976a), which can cause involuntary subliminal psychological energy field compliance to operative microwave apparatus.
