i’ve been rewatching a whole lot of labn and thinking about eva post-camarilla, having lost so much and isolating herself emotionally and physically as a response, a ghost in her own unlife, thinking about eva as an abuse survivor putting wards on her body so that no one can ever touch her and harm her again, thinking about those wards she uses to protect herself also injuring the two people she cares about most, thinking about “you don’t usually touch me” “no, i don’t usually touch anyone”, thinking about “they’re not meant for you”, thinking about eva having to make the impossible decision if letting people in is worth the pain they could cause every time she applies her wards

When I heard that during NYbN yesterday I laughed, mostly because of Isaac’s confused reaction. But today it hit me that Annabelle was talking about the Valley Coterie too… and I cried.

I love them, and I miss them, and their ending broke me. That wonderful family of Kindred scattered and never coming back. Victor and Nelli are busy with their own domains. Jasper has retreated into his labyrinth and wants nothing to do with anyone again. Annabelle’s run all the way across the country. X is in torpor and may never awaken. Eva…

It’s just all hitting me again.
