Isn't it time we all either move on to austwt or etwt? I'm kind of sick of Austin still being associated with Elvis (movie). I mean you can still be fans of both but can the comparisons stop? It was cute when the movie came out, it was fine until the Oscars but now it's just annoying! I really need someone on etwt to debunk some of the stuff Nash has written about Elvis in her books because I’m afraid someone will come upon them one day and spread some of the stuff she’s written about Elvis on the internet even tho it can usually be debunked

you know what the thing is? nash's books have been out for years. people could've stumbled upon them already and they probably will in the future- people are going to judge elvis on it or already have and unfortunately there isn't a thing we can do about it, but us fans know better.

we know nash's books are most definitely not a reliable source and that her books are trash. and there's a lot more trash books written about elvis that can get people to form an opinion on elvis based on just that one book they come across.

There's drama between them over on Twitter? I didn't even know. Honestly I don't follow anyone on either side of the twitter except like maybe one or two so my feed is more politics dominated with a side of oh hey you liked this thing from etwt or atwt. Seriously, I like the posts but that's about it because I'm on the older side and I know some of them skew a little younger, so in order to not make anyone feel uncomfortable I refrain from interacting beyond that.

I am not necessarily surprised, though, since I have ended up seeing kerfuffles in both spaces amongst themselves so for them to cause a kerfuffle with each other tracks I suppose. It's a shame because minus some bad apples/bad actors, I do truly think both fanbases are some of the nicest people so I would hope everyone could be cordial and civil. Especially since there's also a definite overlap between them.

Thoughts on Priscilla? Idk what to think about her because she mostly trashes Elvis in her book, but now she constantly praises him and refers to him as the love of her life..

tbh, i don't think bad of her. i don't hate her but i will give my opinion on literally anything but priscilla because some people get very defensive about her and i'm very afraid no matter what i say, i'm going to upset someone 😅

i will say though, i have yet to read her book and i've been trying to get through other books before hers considering what i've heard about it. i have my opinion but i don't think she's as awful as some make her out to be.

Besides this site, what are other safe or relatively safe spaces to be an Elvis fan?

this is tricky to answer because i know there are downsides to every site (ask me about the fit i had a few days ago after seeing really horrible/ableist things said about his health in comments on a fan page on IG :/), so i think the trick is finding a good niche anywhere of people who genuinely care and create a positive environment with one another. i'm not on tiktok, so i can't speak to how that one works, but the etwt side of twitter has some really lovely people (i know twitter is also horrid in other ways, you have to curate everything carefully for yourself), and despite some of the nastiness that occurs in comments, instagram has some good accounts too! if you want usernames/recs to give a look, let me know ❤
