Error tapped his fingers on the rock impatiently, resting his chin on his hand. He twitched his tail in frustration.

Where had that idiot gone?

He shot upward, frustrated. Dumbass shouldn’t be taking this long.

He swam behind the other mer, growling slightly. Ink turned, smiled slightly, shoving a smile on his face. “Awww, not even five minutes without me and you’re bored! I’m flattered.” 

“Shut it, idiot.” Error snapped, curling around his soulmate. “You said you had a gift, why is it taking you so long to grab it?” There was no concern present in the eel’s voice, only annoyance and boredom. 

Ink slumped, holding up a broken string. “I had a necklace for you, but the sting broke and now I can’t find the charm… I’m sorry…” Mulicoloured tears bubbled up in the squid’s eyes.

“Whatever. Don’t worry about it or something, it’s not that important. Now c’mon, you’re letting our food go to waste.”

Ink sniffed, rubbing at his eyes. “Okay…” He swam after Error, eyelights blinking to a pale blue. “Sorry…”

Error rolled his eyelights, reclining back into his previous seat by the rock. “What was the stupid necklace anyway?”

Ink curled in on himself, hugging his torso. “It was a shark tooth… Blue says they’re popular on the surface.”

Error scoffed, anger flashing through his bored expression. “Blue this, Blue that- you’d think he’s your soulmate with how much you talk about him!”

Ink flinched backwards, inky black tears staining the water. “I- I’m sorry, I j-just-”

Error swam past Ink, brushing his tail against the squid’s tentacles. “Whatever. Just fix it. I’m going out.”

Ink wrapped further around himself, muffling his sobs with an arm. Just stay happy. 

Soulmates are made for each other, aren’t they? 

It’ll just take a little longer.

I wanted this to be fluffy, but I just. Can't make errorink fluffy. Sorry, I guess, but it's just. Incredibly toxic and abusive in my head, I just can't look at it in a good light *shrug*

Don't worry, once I get a chance to write Ink's story he'll get a happy ending, but he's still suffering for now
