Annon-Guy: How do you feel about tsunderes who physically attack their love interest (or anyone else at points)?
Try watching Toradora!. It's one of the anime's most common running gags between both Ryuji & Taiga that I find entertaining. 😂 🤣

Profiles in Villainy
Speed-o'-Sound Sonic
The inhumanly quick ninja known as Speed-o'-Sound Sonic (or often times just Sonic or Sonikku) is a graduate of the 44th Class of the Ninja Village.  Trained from birth in the martial arts of ninjutsu, Sonic purposefully held back so that his instructors would be extra hard on him and subject him to more intensive training.  While he was viewed as the village’s worst student, all of the extra work and grueling punishments actually enabled him to attain an unparalleled level of skill.  He honed himself to such a degree that he could move at the speed of sound, with his actions all but invisible to the naked eye.  This coupled with his prowess with swords, shurikens and various forms of karate have made him a near peerless warrior.
After leaving the Ninja Village, Sonic hired himself out as a high priced body guard and assassin.  On one assignment, Sonic foiled an assassination attempt by the villainous Hammerhead and his Paradisers.  Sonic hunted down and slew these attackers but Hammerhead himself got away.  Whilst chasing him, Sonic encountered Saitama the One Punch Man.  With Saitama’s bald head, Sonic mistook him as a member of the Paradisers.  Sonic attacked and was amazed with the ease at which Saitama read and blocked his moves.  Enraged, Sonic leveled a full assault and was quickly and definitively defeated.
His pride was terribly wounded and Sonic would go on to make it his life’s mission to amass the skill needed to finally defeat Saitama.  Although it is unlikely that he will ever achieve this goal, his efforts to do so have resulted in many adventures, trials and hijinks.
Actor Yūki Kaji provides the voice for Speed-o'-Sound Sonic in the original anime (with Erik Scott Kimerer voicing the character in the English language dub).  The speedy scoundrel first appeared in the fourth episode of One Punch Man, airing on October 25th, 2015.

Sonic OC: Izumi/Cutter-6 (Diamond Cutters AU)
Tumblr media
Next, one of my more "controversial" OCs: Izumi Conrad, a character from a Diamond Cutters-centric project I'm working on.
"Have you ever noticed that when the sky is cloudy and gray, the world below appears brighter and more vibrant?"
IZUMI CONRAD Age: 13-15 Birthplace: Unknown Species: Human Gender: Male Height: Slightly taller than Sonic Likes: Science, studying Mobian biology, Yurashian tokusatsu shows (Sentai Rangers, Rider Mask, Metallic Heroes, etc.), the other Cutters (especially Smithy and Claire), Halloween. Dislikes: Crowded, noisy places; being dragged away from his work; people he's unfamiliar with; science being used for evil; people pointing out his height; people messing up his lab; silly superstitions. AFFILIATION: Diamond Cutters (Medic) DREAM VA: Erik Scott Kimerer (Gowther from The Seven Deadly Sins; Secco from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind)
POWERS & ABILITIES *Eagle Wispon proficiency *Grenade throwing proficiency *Chemistry *Medical knowledge *Biogenetics knowledge
BACKGROUND Sometime before rise of the Eggman Empire, former soldier-turned-freelance mercenary Smithy the Lion was hired by the New Shamaran Liberation Front to hunt down the White Eagle, a terrorist cell employed by the region's tyrannical king. The group had been attacking cities that supported or were suspected of supporting those who sought to depose the king, using deadly chemical weapons to flush them out, destroy crops and livestock to coerce them into giving them up, or just wipe out the entire population. While attempting to infiltrate the city the group was hiding in, Smithy encountered the one responsible for creating these weapons: Izumi Conrad, a human child with glasses, red hair, and almost supernaturally high intelligence.
After helping Smithy escape from some of the Eagle's soldiers and treating several injuries he had received, Izumi revealed his story. He had been taken from his family at a young age and eventually landed in the "care" of the White Eagle, who wanted to use his intelligence to make weapons of war. Tired of seeing innocents suffer because of his inventions and fearing for his life, Izumi began making plans to escape the group; only to end up trapped in the city and forced into hiding until the lion discovered him.
After a fierce battle, Smithy managed to destroy the White Eagle's weapons and free Izumi from their clutches. With nowhere else to go, Izumi began traveling with him, eventually becoming the medic for his spec-op mercenary unit: the Diamond Cutters.
PERSONALITY In contrast to the loud, boisterous, and outgoing Smithy, Izumi is quiet, introverted, and bookish. While the other Cutters engage in all manner of wild shenanigans in their off-time, he spends his time in his lab working on new ideas and projects to help his friends on the battlefield, as well as the world in general. Izumi often spends hours, even days, working at a time, often forgetting to eat or sleep forcing the others to bring him food or drag him out so he can take a break.
While highly intelligent and mature for his age, Izumi's life both in and before the White Eagle have left him stunted emotionally. In particular, his thought process is predominantly driven by logic and reason, giving him impressive deductive abilities and keen intellect, but he struggles with understanding other peoples' perspectives and non-lateral thinking. This can cause him to come off as blunt and insensitive, or even cynical and pessimistic, as he often fails to factor in details like others' morality and emotions. He's also lacking in world experience and is easily fascinated and impressed by things others would find mundane or never notice; like how colors pop out more on cloudy days or the way raindrops move on a windshield.
Izumi is extremely passionate about science and knowledge, seeing it as the key to understanding the underlying mechanics of the universe and the human nature, and the key to allowing humans and Mobians to take control of their destinies and make the world a better place for everyone. As a result, he's highly critical of those who use it to hurt others, both because it hurts peoples' belief in it and because of his past as an unwilling weapons' researcher. He especially views medicine as sacred and considers knowingly and willingly harming a patient or taking advantage of their trust as the worst thing you can do.
Izumi is a closet fan of Yurashian tokusatsu dramas. He's especially fond of the Rider Mask franchise, often using poses and catchphrases from the shows.
POWERS & ABILITIES As the youngest member of the team and a human, Izumi is significantly weaker than the other Cutters. As a result, he tends to keep to the back lines or in the shadows, usually relying on one of the other Cutters to watch his back. But what he lacks in power, he makes up for with quick thinking, a keen eye for details, and an extensive knowledge and arsenal of biochemical weaponry like acids, poisons, and incendiary and cryonic grenades, as well as his skill in medicine and biology.
After the team encounters the Wisps, Izumi takes a Crimson Eagle as his partner. His Eagle Wispon takes the form of a crossbow-like weapon that can fire eagle-shaped blasts of Hyper Go-On energy. The shots aren't particularly powerful, but they're able to be controlled remotely, like a drone, and can lift and carry small to medium-sized objects like grenades, supply crates, and cameras.
RELATIONSHIPS SMITHY THE LION As the one who got him out of the White Eagle and gave him a place to stay, Izumi is especially close to Smithy; whom he sees as an older brother. Though he finds the lion's energetic, larger-than-life attitude annoying, and his idealism and optimism frustrating at times, Izumi can't bring himself to stay mad at him forever and in fact, admires these qualities about him. He especially respects Smithy's mechanical expertise, and the two often collaborate on projects in their spare time.
CLAIRE VOYANCE Being one of the more intelligent and level-headed Cutters, Izumi gets along well with Claire. He finds her calm demeanor relaxing and, despite not as intelligent or well-read as him, enjoys that the monkey is able to keep up with him whenever he starts rambling on about his passions. In particular, he appreciates how patient and understanding she is when the less pleasant side of his overly logical mind starts acting up.
SLINGER THE OCELOT & MIMIC THE OCTOPUS Though close friends with all the Cutters, Izumi finds his other "brothers-in-arms" insufferable. Slinger and Mimic enjoy pushing his buttons, often engaging in playful teasing, practical jokes, eating his food, or just moving everything in his lab a few inches to the left.
WHISPER THE WOLF Whisper tends to keep her distance from Izumi, both due to her lone wolf nature and her distrust of humans in general. In fact, when they first met, Whisper hated Izumi and believed that letting him stay with the group would result in their deaths, solely because of his species. Time has allowed her to mellow out a bit though, and while they aren't especially close, they care about and look out for eachother.
TRIVIA *Izumi is inspired by Hal "Otacon" Emmerich from the original Metal Gear Solid, in keeping up the Diamond Cutters being inspired by characters from the franchise. However, his hair color and the style of his coat are reminiscent of Marionette Owl from the Game Boy Color Metal Gear Solid (known as Metal Gear: Ghost Babel in Japan). *Izumi's name is derived from "Izumicon", an anime/video game convention.
Izumi is owned by me.
Sonic the Hedgehog is owned by Sega, Archie Comics, IDW Comics, Paramount, and Yuji Naka. Please support the official release and all official materials.

Anime Update V2 57
Vinland Saga S2 - At long last, I return to this series and jump right into Episode 1 of its second season that aired earlier this year. This episode told the tragic tale of a man named Einar, who lost his homeland, his mother, and his sister in a horrific attack by marauding brutes who took him prisoner and sold him into slavery. At one point he tries to flee only to get found, recaptured, and brutally beaten. At another point we see old man Leif, looking to find his lost nephew among the slaves. At the end, Einar is sold to Ketil to work at his large, vast farm in southern Denmark, where he is introduced to another of Ketil's slaves: a moody, badly damaged young man with dirty blond hair...named Thorfinn. And thus, a connection is made!
Hunter x Hunter - New information regarding how the Chimera Ants operate in their different heirachies and their ongoing breeding patterns is given to us as the Hunters Association is now tasked with fighting and killing the Ants, hoping to slay the Queen before she can give birth to a King. We also got some neat fights of Gon, Killua, and Kite in that order against Chimera Ant footsoldiers sent after them by the big lion guy. And on the side, Colt and the other leading soldiers are discovering the secrets of Nen, continuing to be easily the most intriguing part of the show at this point and I await more from them.
Fruits Basket - First episode of the pair I watched was mostly set at school, with the first half delving into Machi's backstory, how the trauma messed her up, and her blossoming relationship with Yuki, and...OK, which female student council member had the parody "tragic backstory?" Because Machi's backstory just did not click for me AT ALL. I could get the idea behind it and wanted to appreciate it but the execution was absurd; it legit felt like something someone would make up to convey how Fruits Basket does traumatic past-based stories, yet we're meant to take it seriously. I like Machi, but her development with the backstory and romantic material just sucked. Ironically, the second half that put focus onto Yuki's biggest fangirl, Motoko Minagawa, actually landed better and got me more emotional and choked up! Yuki, you took for granted what you had in this girl and her wacky fangirl posse! The one weird part was Naohito having feelings for Minagawa the whole time. THAT'S what he meant when he declared Yuki "his rival" when they first met? C'mon now!
The second episode brought Isuzu and Haru's subplot to its climax in a truly beautiful fashion, along with some payoff for Hiro and Kisa as well, and the best part of all was getting to see Haru grilling Akito for the truth, standing up to her, and coming just short of decking her in the face. Kureno helping Haru to go reunite with Isuzu and Akito starting to break down about this was icing on the cake. I might not be the biggest fan of Kureno but compred to Akito, Ren, Shigure and the head servant, he's a good lad who understands wrong and right.
Re:ZERO - Season 2 is a go for this too, as we're treated to a horrific Happy Ending Override where Rem has ended up vanishing from everyone but Subaru's memories again and a whole bunch of Crusch's soldiers got slaughtered by two new Archbishops of the Witch's Cult, a white haired Simon Laurent and a crazed beastman who talks like Erik Scott Kimerer doing Alexander Polinsky. For some reason, the effect went in reverse for Crusch, as now she's lost her memories of everyone else. The episode's last scene with Subaru and Emilia was nothing short of extraordinary for its pathos, it really got me. Things look to be taking a darker direction for this season, and y'know what? With a show of this quality, sign me the fuck up!
Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works - Now this was a lot more interesting compared to what I'd been watching before. Lots more serious and involved discussion between Shirou, Saber, Rin, and Archer, a scene where Shinji reports to Kirei at his church and he even references his grandfather Zouken, Rin and Shirou staking out to confirm or put to rest any suspicions regarding their bespectacled classmate who lives at the temple, Rin alluding to the true connection she has with Sakura, and Shirou thinking back to Kiritsugu and why he's adopted the "hero of justice" ideals from him to the point of a stubborn, unhealthy Savior Complex. Good stuff to see get adapted.
Symphogear GX - I thought Hibiki's father seemed bad, and Tsubasa's father also seemed cold and unloving, but now we get the full truth about her birth...her grandfather is thought to be her biological father who impregnated his own daughter in law just to breed a worthy family heir and spite his two sons. DEAR GOD. Seeing how fucked up this clan is, it was unsurprising to learn that Tsubasa's father was wanting to protect his girl from dealing with it all. What was very surprising was the full extent of Carol's plan, which turned every triumph the girls had made against her Dolls upside down into defeats that only got Carol closer to her objectives, and how she accomplished so much just by spying through Elfnein's eyes. The two biggest delights here were more of Chris bonding with Kirika and Shirabe as their senpai and working together to kick ass, and the glorious return of none other than DR. VER! Extra batshit as ever and still claiming himself to be a hero, he's with Carol and the Autoscorers now! Can this possibly get any wilder? I sure hope so!
Eureka Seven - On errands with Eureka and her kids, Renton meets a kind elderly lady who turns out to be a Vodarac religion member and a suspected terrorist who Holland is after in order to turn her in and collect the bounty on her. The morality of what Gekkostate is doing suddenly gets a lot blurrier to Renton, and he and Holland now clearly have more than a few issues with each other even in spite of Holland coming through in the end to ensure the old lady evades the military after he's taken his pay. Eureka is still awesome, though!
Gintama - So this might've been my absolute favorite episode of Gintama yet. Just all the ways they played with the "whodunnit" mystery genre while also lampooning stalkers, selfish, dishonest and unloving boyfriends, and tight parental control without the child's input all in one hilariously twisty and turny episode kept me immensely engrossed and entertained from start to finish. Also, Otsu continues to be surprisingly amazing, and we even get the backstory for why Shinpachi became such a die-hard fan of her, with the one thing that distracted me is that suddenly she's singing in Japanese even in this dub; did the constant English singing of "Your Father's Bleep Bleep" face such backlash that they dared not attempt a dubover of Otsu's songs again? Ah well, that's no big loss at all!

Because the talent collected for Pokemon Masters impresses me, I’m making this masterlist post of voice actors. They are divided into four categories: Fresh and Unestablished (VAs who just surfaced in the past few years and haven’t become noteworthy names at the time of their casting), Fresh and Established (VAs whose careers have spanned the late 2010s and are already well recognized for at least one other major role, usually several), Veteran (VAs whose careers have spanned the late 2000s / early 2010s), and Super Veteran (VAs whose careers have spanned the early 2000s or even earlier). Again, bear in mind this reflects their status when cast for this game - obviously, things change: some Unestablished VAs are now starting to become Established, some Established VAs are reaching Veteran status, and eventually Veteran VAs will be known as Super Veterans. It’s just how the business works.

Sailor Moon Eternal Brings Long-Time Fans’ Dreams to Life on Netflix
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This Sailor Moon Eternal review contains NO spoilers! Read on with confidence.
Back in 2016, the final episode of Sailor Moon Crystal closed out the manga’s “Infinity” arc and in its last moments teased what every fan was hoping for next, something we’d all been deprived of for far too long… a faithful adaptation of the manga’s fourth arc, entitled “Dream.”
The premise of “Dream” is that on the day of the solar eclipse, the Dead Moon Circus, an ancient enemy of Silver Millennium (the Moon Kingdom) appears in Tokyo. Their leader, a withered hag named Zirconia, sends her minions to locate the Silver Crystal—big surprise—as well as a new MacGuffin called the Golden Crystal. This is so her mistress, Nehelenia, can step up as the rightful ruler, or so she claims, of both Silver Millennium and Earth. Around this time, a Pegasus appears to Chibi-usa, asking for her help in defeating Nehelenia. The Sailor Guardians, all freshly minted high school students, step up to face this new threat, only to be hit where it hurts when the agents of the Dead Moon get inside their heads, triggering their deepest fears in order to take them down.
“Dream” was where the manga, having just hit its stride in the previous arc, really started to go for the gold in terms of character development and mythology. The Sailor Moon team was finally complete, and we got to explore the hopes and fears of each character. We saw flashes of Silver Millennium that not only built upon the backstory we first saw back in the “Dark Kingdom” arc, but gave that backstory further depth and new context.
We even learned more about Elysion, the Earth realm to which Prince Endymion was heir. All that and Chibi-usa got a love interest who was more than just a generational Xerox of her father; Helios was a completely different character from Mamoru with his own distinct personality, motives, and backstory. “Dream” was, for many fans, where the story of Sailor Moon went from awesome to enthralling.
And then Sailor Moon SuperS, its anime adaptation… was not.
Look, SuperS had a lot going for it. I think it gets more hate than it really deserves, but a lot of that is because it took so many liberties with the story and omitted so much of what made “Dream” great (most notably the return of the Outers), which rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Not to mention the tonal whiplash of going from the bittersweet darkness of the previous season to something a lot more lighthearted and comedic outside of a few key episodes.
Which is really just a long-winded way of saying that Netflix’s Sailor Moon Eternal was a long time coming, and fans were hungry for it. It’s legitimately good with a few very minor caveats, and it’s now available on Netflix.
The change in medium works fine. The cliffhanger that Part 1 ends on plays out a little differently from how it does in the manga, but everything is still there, just rearranged to make Part 1 a satisfying movie unto itself, which I wholly approve of. And due to the nature of the earlier acts of the arc, Part 1 feels somewhat episodic. Shuffling a few scenes around might have made it a stronger adaptation and a more cinematic experience, but it was faithful to the source material, which is what the fans wanted, so it gets points for that.
There was a shift in the extent of the localization. Sailor Moon Crystal’s English dub eliminated a lot of the Japanese language elements like honorifics, and while I understand that to a point, hearing Usagi call Mamoru “Mamo” always struck my ears a little wrong and took me out of the moment. In the Sailor Moon Eternal films, that problem no longer exists, and hearing Stephanie Sheh (Usagi) and Robbie Daymond (Mamoru) call each other “Mamo-chan” and “Usako” felt so natural that I didn’t even notice they were doing it for, like, the first 40 minutes. Which is as it should be.
Overall, the Viz dub cast does a great job, having really settled into their roles, and it’s also nice seeing John Eric Bentley, Michael Yurchak, and Erik Scott Kimerer showing their range by adjusting their performances to match the differences in the Amazon Trio’s manga counterparts. Oh, and the music is pretty good too, better in Part 2 than Part 1, but not by a very wide margin.
As for the story, were cuts made? Obviously. All you have to do is look at the total running time to see that. But to be honest, it’s not really anything anyone but the most fundamentalist fans will miss; all the beats are there: the character development, the power-ups, the villains, the cats’ human forms, the Amazoness’ entire storyline, Chibi-usa’s entire storyline, and (thank you, God) Mamoru’s entire storyline—something he desperately could have used in the later seasons of the ’90s anime, where he had been reduced to the most boring and unengaging love interest since Raoul from Phantom of the Opera. It’s all there, folks, and if you loved the manga, you’re going to love Sailor Moon Eternal. If you’re unfamiliar with the manga, but have been digging Crystal, you’re going to love it. And if you prefer the ’90s anime to the manga… you’re still probably going to enjoy it a great deal.
Oh, and do yourself a favor and watch the closing credits to both movies. Part 1 features a cover of “Watashitachi ni Naritakute,” the first ending theme for SuperS as well as a post-credits scene that teases Part 2, and Part 2 has a cover of “Rashiku Ikimasho,” the second ending theme for Supers. I was hoping for a post-credits scene for Part 2 that might tease an adaptation of Stars, but sadly… no such luck, so we’re going to have to live with that suspense a little longer. I’m guessing an adaptation of the final arc of the manga is going to be predicated on how well Eternal does, but hopefully, we won’t have to wait until 2026 to see it.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Overall, I give Sailor Moon Eternal, Parts 1 & 2 the seal of approval. You’re going to have fun and feel that Sailor Moon love where it hits you best, so make a double-feature night of it, pop some popcorn, and dream a little dream.
