Tumblr media
A new dawn breaks in the bustling city of the United States, with the sun casting its usual bright rays, offering a glimmer of hope to some for a better day ahead.
Amidst it, boredom creeps in, despite the anticipation of summer vacations being fun and exhilarating, right?
Well, not for you.
The shrill ring of your black device snaps you out of your reverie, prompting you to answer.
"Look who's on the line! It's the white sheep!" you exclaim upon picking up the call.
"Why the crankiness, woman? I called because we're considering checking out the new arcade that recently opened" Jungwon, the young man, explains.
"A new arcade? Count me in!" you reply eagerly, rising from your seat with excitement finally brewing. You've always adored arcades and never shy away from expressing it.
"Alright, my lady, come over to my place at 5, and we'll head out together" he chuckles at your enthusiasm.
"Sure thing, Mr. Sheep Garden" you retort playfully before hanging up. You flop onto your bed, letting out a scream into your pillow while kicking your feet in the air.
Now, that's what a vacation should feel like.
••••••
The following day dawns, and you wake up a bit later than usual due to the excitement from the previous night hindering your sleep.
After completing your morning routine in the bathroom, you emerge in a robe, pondering over what to wear.
After much deliberation, you settle on a stunning Y2K fashion ensemble.
Once dressed, you gaze at your reflection in the mirror, feeling thoroughly satisfied with the result.
Hailing an Uber, you head to Jungwon's house as planned, the journey taking approximately 15 minutes.
Upon arriving at the house, you press the doorbell, and a familiar face greets you with a beaming smile.
"She's here, guys!!" he announces excitedly, his happiness infectious.
"Didn't expect such a warm welcome! You're like a ray of sunshine, so bright" you remark, sharing in his enthusiasm.
This is Sunoo, the embodiment of cheerfulness within the group. His actions are naturally endearing, and his voice resonates like that of an angel.
"Hey, what's the hold-up? Let her in first" another voice interjects, followed by a playful tap on Sunoo's head.
It's Jay, the nurturing figure of the group, known for his caring nature and impeccable sense of style. Though he plays the role of the group's guardian, his fashion choices exude sophistication and elegance, earning him admiration from all.
With a smile, you step into the house, unaware of the lurking presence in the shadows nearby.
Inside, the rest of the group awaits, each offering their own unique greeting as you enter.
Jake bounds toward you like an excited puppy, his invisible tail wagging with joy as he envelops you in a tight hug.
"Calm down, Layla's dad" you giggle, reciprocating his affection.
Sunghoon follows with a firm handshake, his demeanor as cool as ice, a nod to his past figure skating exploits , but he doesn't lack warmth nor humour.
"Oh yes, Mr. Icy" you wink, returning his handshake with equal firmness.
"Look here comes the sheep" you proclaim with a hint of sass as Jungwon greets you with a lively laugh, his playful demeanor belying his natural leadership qualities.
"Call me something cool, woman, 'sheep' sounds so childish" he teases, adding to the playful banter.
Next is Niki, the youngest of the group, greeting you with a wide smile and a brotherly hug. "Yessir," you both exclaim simultaneously, sharing a bond forged in mischief and camaraderie.
Finally, Heeseung, the group's ace, joins in, his mastery evident in everything he does.
"What are you waiting for, Bambi boy?" you jest, opening your arms for a hug, which he accepts with a smile.
As the group settles in, a figure emerges from the bushes outside, a smirk playing across their lips.
"All the players are assembled," they declare with a hint of mischief.
And with that, the stage is set.
Let the game begin.

The Second Prey [Eps. 1]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
P. Jongseong x reader x P. Sunghoon
a story where Sunghoon-your ex who just broke up with you-has to protect your best friend from evil vampires, but without him knowing that the other prey is you. If things were like this, someone else should protect you too right?
------------------------------------------------------
This world has its favourites. And you believe one of them is Jiya. Smart, sexy and cute. Not to mention, she succeeded in replacing your position as 'Park Sunghoon's most special person'.
Yeah, you guys just broke up for a really ridiculous reason. The reason that made your friendship with Jiya foundered halfway. You're alone again.
"Why you often come to Jiya house, Sunghoon? What did you hide from me? What about our date today?" You asked as your eyes filled up with tears.
"It's not what you think, please-" Sunghoon tried to explain but Jiya suddenly fainted in Sunghoon's arms.
You rolled your eyes. You were so tired.
"Explain."
"I can not. Please just understand me, y/n."
"I don't want to understand if you don't explain it today!"
"THIS IS NONE OF YOUR BUSSINES! Please y/n. I don't want to be harsh on you. I love you. Okay?"
You laugh hollowly when your boyfriend snaps at you. Understand him? When you don't know what to understand. When you are the victim here. When your boyfriend doesn't know his priorities.
"Okay," you said blankly. Sunghoon looked guilty. And whether it was because of your hot eyes or what, you saw Jiya slightly tugging at the corners of his lips.
And after that night, Jiya and Sunghoon never talk to you anymore. The reason? You never know.
------------------------------------------------------
Since that night, things have gotten a little... weird? You don't know if it's because you're feeling depressed or something, but you sometimes see black shadows outside your house.
Especially when you're having your period. You feel like you're being watched. Like tonight, you can't sleep because you have menstrual pain.
"You better be comfortable or I'll change myself into a MAN!" You said to your stomach when you heard knock on your window.
You immediately shut up. As a loyal thriller viewer, you certainly don't practice what the main character does when unusual circumstances occur.
But, you're a bungling person😇
KLONTANG
The thermos filled with hot water that you used to compress your stomach accidentally fell over. Making the knock on the window quicker and louder. You're starting to panic.
CRASH
After what feels like hours, you hear the sound of a strong wind accompanied by a crash. Similar to the sound of a traffic accident. The knocks on your window stopped?
Curiosity kills the cat. But you are not a cat. So, you get up from your bed, walk to window, and slide the curtains. Nobody is there. Now you belive you're just crazy because of heart broken.
No.
You're not crazy. There, behind the tree across the street. You saw one of your classmates' faces staring in horror at your bedroom window on the second floor. He's your ex-boyfriend's best friend,
Park Jongseong.

Authors note: It's honestly SO embarrassing that I'm posting this now LMAOAOAOA.
Uhm. I'm sorry. I hope you guys enjoy and leave some nice comments or feedback or anything tbh. And send me an ask, or comment below to be added to the tag list.
____________________________________________
Are you sure?” My uncle asks sceptically.
“Yes I'm sure.” I tell him firmly.
This is the 10th time he's asked me this question today alone. What's a therapist gonna do? Besides, I'm sick of him pretending to care.
“Uncle, I'm not really sure why you're so insistent on this. Is it because the press is outside? They want to interview you?”
It's a sharp dig at him and I know it. He's never cared about his own brother, never visited.
He scowls at me, “Careful, might I have to remind you that it isn't your father that's taking care of you, putting you in the best room with the best doctors.”
I glare at him as he walks away from the room. Well atleast the pathetic nice act is gone.
Kyungsoo enters my room soon again, throwing a careful glance at my uncle. He was a big shot after all. With his more than successful firm.
“You good?” He asks.
“Yeah, um I think I'll just go for a walk.” I tell him rather shortly.
“Sure.” He says quietly, probably assuming I had an argument.
But truth be told, I'm avoiding him. I'm getting attached to someone who's just tolerating me for their job. It's not his fault I know but I can't get attached to those who won't stay once I'm up and gone.
My mind goes to Jay for a tiny second. Hm. Maybe I should talk to a therapist. The dreams stopped for two days and usually I would be overjoyed at the idea of not just one but two full nights rest.
But I woke up feeling uneasy, I made a promise to Jay, someone who exists only in my head. But I made a promise nevertheless.
There are so many things I want to ask him, so many.
Why do I have no dreams? Why is it that I only ever have a blackout or nightmares?
Why is he saving me?
I know I shouldn't, but my curiosity has gotten the better of me. I look down at my fisted hands and open them. There are two sleeping pills, I stole it from a nurse's bag when she wasn't looking.
Sleeping pills and I aren't the best of friends. Sure they help me not have a meltdown from not being able to sleep for almost 20 hours but they also give me the worst types of nightmares.   Which right now happens to be something that I need.
“Goodnight.”Kyungsoo tries to smile at me.
I meekly smile back , eager to down the pills and meet the one person who actually wants me to stay.
_________________________________________
The pills go down my throat ten minutes later. The small light creates a shadow of me in front.  The shadows shift, turning and twisting and I watch fascinated as they give a performance for me.
I'm not afraid, a part of my brain thinks. What are the shadows going to do? They've been with me forever. Taunting me, trying to manipulate me. I've never given into any of their tricks. I've never trusted them.
But when I'm all alone now, in a tiny closet peeking out from the hole and watching the shadows linger my heart picks up its beat.
They come and they disappear again and again. I look through the tiny peep the closet gives and realise soon as they go behind every nook and creek that they are looking for none other than me.

My hands reach out to clasp my mouth shut. My body folds itself as small as it can possibly go. Will the shadows think to look here too?
I shut my eyes forcefully. My other senses heightened until I could feel everything around me. The musty smell of the closet, my fingernails digging into themselves.  My feet numb, paralyzed.
My breathing becomes slower, my arms start to unclench. I think they're gone. I think I can get out now. Escape to a place where they can't catch me.
Before I know it, before I can even pull my hands away from myself. There's a strange hiss that comes inches away from me. A hand grabs my ankle and pulls me hard enough that I don't have time to scream.
My head bangs against the hard wooden doors as I'm being pulled away. The impact is so hard that I can only clutch my head and groan as the hands keep pulling me away, dragging me on the rough wooden floors.
The splinters catch on clothes and skin. My chin is bleeding, but I can't even stop. Can't even catch a hold of myself as I try to catch myself breathlessly.
There's a sharp turn to the right, and that's when I know that the shadows aren't just pulling me along aimlessly , they have a destination in mind.
My eyes scan around desperately trying to catch hold of something to stop.
Just then, a hand- a solid, real and warm hand catches me. A sudden stop to the journey.
I know who it is before I can even look up. I clasp my hands with his. The shadows aren't pleased, they hiss and linger around My ankles.
But when his hand keeps tugging me in, the shadows start to dissolve, materialise into nothing, losing their power.
Jay's hands pull me again, even when the shadows disappear, he doesn't let go and I don't either.
When I gain a little strength into my limbs I finally pull away from the embrace. I look into his eyes, they are wide and scared, maybe even more than mine.
“Thank yo-”
“Why didn't you come?? You made a promise and you leave me all alone here?!” Jay yells angrily.
I pull away completely.  I was happy to finally see him again, but seeing his bloodshot face. The look of absolute rage in his eyes makes me stop. Brings the familiar uneasy feeling back into my stomach.
“I'm sorry.” I mumble.
Jay looks at my crestfallen face, and immediately his face softens.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn't have yelled at you. I was just scared you left forever.” He says softly, “You're hurt a lot this time. Come here, let's clean you up.”
He rips off a piece of his sleeves and starts dabbing it on my wounds.
His reassuring words don't chase away the moths in my stomach.
“Jay..do you think I should see a therapist?”
Jay frowns at my words, “A therapist? What's that?” He asks curiously.
“Umm. It's someone who helps you with your problems, like stress, anxiety…nightmares.”
Jay stiffens upon that. His hand paused on my chin.
“But why…? I can save you. I save you every time.”
I shake my head,
“I can save you again, you won't even have to get hurt next time. Just trust me. That's all you need to do!”
I take his hands in mine, his eyes are trembling,
“What happens when you can't?”
“..what”
“What happens when one day you can't save me? I can wake up, but what about you? What if something happens to you instead?”
He shakes his head intently, “I don't care, I only exist because of you. If you're gone, then I'm alone again, I have no purpose.”
I stay silent at that, avoiding his eyes.
The world around me seems to shift again, faster than it did before.
“I think I'm waking up now.”
“Yeah.”
“Can't you…can't you appear in my dreams too? Not just nightmares?”
“I don't know.”
I can feel my resolve slipping at the sight of his tired face. He looks my age, but at this moment his face seems to have gone through a millenia worth of sadness.
“I'll come back okay?”
Jay just nodded. His fingers slip away from mine as he watches me disappear again. I never stay for long. He wonders whether it's because I can't or I don't want to.
Jay fidgets with his fingers even after I'm gone.
He thinks long and hard about how he could make me stay. Every time I've left, it's only because he saved me.
What happens when he makes me believe that she can't escape the nightmare anymore?

“ ZOMBIES ”
Pairing : enhypenxreader! Genre : thriller Warning : idk ? Zombie apocalypse things-?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was unexpectable , what could happen by mixing some chemicals . Your science teacher said the experiment would be safe but now it is causing danger to the whole country and probably other too . No one in your class knew he would throw it at a student to see what's gonna happen . Everyone scrambled away from the boy who was now decaying and whose bones were cracking in every direction possible . You knew what was comming ahead and so did a few other students so you all did what was the best , ran out of the classroom while the zombie caught one of your classmates because he thought the person was joking . Heeseung locked the room and leaned onto the door to catch his breath but the zombies suddenly started banging on the door . All of you being startled, joilted and sprinted away from door . The zombies were fighting for their remaining life left and were continuosly trying to open the door , hungry for food . It wasn't seeming as of they didn't have brains . If it wasn't for the screaming your classmates were doing you would've thought they actually had a brain . You were 15 students left , everyone else was evacuated including the staff and teachers . You all were left because of that stupid teacher who thought it was a great idea to keep you indulge in convincing on how it would be cool if everyone just went on with his plan and how he did this for the betterment of the world . Yeah as if :| .... It was you , ryujin , kai , Heeseung , Jay , Sunghoon , Jake , jungwon , sunoo , Niki , yeonjun , sangwon , bangchan , kyujin and taehyun .
You didn't really know anyone except jay since he was your close friend so you stuck with him all the way . You all somehow found a good shelter and were resting a bit when bangchan spoke "guys we don't have anything with us except the weapons and it will be evening in 4 hours or so " Jake raised his eyebrows and asked "you wanna say?" To which sangwon answered "he is suggesting we should go scavenging for food and other necessities which I totally agree to" . Ryujin thought for some time then suggested "let's divide in 2 groups and go in 2 different directions so there can be less people and we can get more stuff . There won't be a risk of having found only a few stuff because I know the places would've been raided pretty heavily" "I'm in , that seems like a plan to me " said Kai and everyone nodded because - yeah the plan was actually logical. "Let's make a group then , 2 leaders and then they will pick their own members " said taehyun . Bangchan and Heeseung were suggested of being the leaders and the team was made . You were with 7 guys and when you questioned upon it , jungwon quickly said it was because they also need a girl who will take all the girl supplies and you were the one because jay requested you to be together . You just shrugged not knowing they all planed to have you in their team since they wanted to spend some time with you . The hunt started and you were sitting with Niki and sunoo on one seat while jay , Jake and Sunghoon were sitting on the other and jungwon and Heeseung were ahead , driving the stolen van . Sunoo and Jake brought up a conversation to know each other and so everyone started making small talks and after a few time they all seemed really comfortable with each other . You were oblivious to how all of them kept glancing at you . When you stopped at a convenient store it was decided that everyone will go at a particular section and grab as many stuff as they can . You obviously were given the girls section which had many sub parts so sunoo took some of it . While you were filling up your bag , you failed to hear the zombie creeping behind you . You would've been dead if it wasn't for jungwon stabbing the zombie who landed an inch beside you . You were definately traumatized but kept your cool , tho it was as if jay could see through you , he comforted you all the way to the found place along with Jake . It had been a week of living like that , hiding from the zombies . This wasn't how you expected your life to be but with all of the other people it wasn't that bad .

Tumblr media
It was a normal night. The moon was high in the sky, as round and as wide as anything. The stars pranced around the moon in a circle, praises falling from their lips in the form of twinkles and shimmers. While the winds were harsh and cold, biting at anything they could sink their teeth into, they remained a solace as you set out into The Bordered Forest.
Since you were a child, an innocent babe, hushed whispers had flurried around you about the forest bordering your village. The whispers weren’t of ghastly tales of people getting torn apart by a ferocious beast, nor were they warnings of a haggard witch who ate children’s hearts for youthful beauty. The whispers were mere wonderings of what could reside in such an ominous forest. With such a heavy blanket of mist resting upon it, it seemed like even the Gods had turned their backs on it—and everything inside. Everyone in your village knew of it and was curious of what dwelled inside, but no one had dared to venture within an ear of the place.
Except for you, of course.
The first time you’d neared the forest couldn’t have been more than a few years ago. You’d been playing a friendly game of catch with your friends until your ball had rolled away. Your eyes and legs had been so set on following the ball’s path that you hadn’t realised it had stopped in the opening of the forest until you got there. By then, it’d been too late to turn back, so you’d marvelled at the beauties of such a mysterious place. Fruits you’d never seen before grew from twisted blossoms and tangled vines. Animals, with eyes so big and claws so small, had scurried about. There had been the sound of winds rushing through hollow chimes with every step you had taken. It had been absolutely magical.
So, you’d wanted more.
As you grew older, and less reckless, you learned to feed your curiosity in a safer manner. About once a year, you would hover around the edges of the forest with all the charms and crystals you could adorn and pray for a glimpse of a stray creature. Your prayers were never answered—why would the Gods bother with a prayer seeking an abandoned forest?—so your hunger and thirst for more had only grown and grown. They’d grown to the point that one day you had made up your mind to walk all the way to the heart of the forest.
And, here you were. With layers of charms and crystals laid on your neck, potions in your pouch, and memorised spells in your head, you were ready. You were finally ready to discover the secrets of The Bordered Forest.
You inhaled deeply, sparing your village one last glance. The rows of quaint houses seemed to grow as if they were trying to warn you of something. Don’t go further, they bellowed, but you laughed to yourself and turned away instead. A last prayer slipped past your lips when you pressed your fingers against the rough bark of the first tree. “Your child has come before you once again to ask for grace, mercy, and prosperity in this journey. No evil will come near your child, nor will your child fall prey to the enemy. By the will of the Gods, your child prays.”
A short breeze swept past you, and you nearly cried tears of relief. After years of unanswered prayers, the Gods had finally listened. The little worries that’d resided in your heart were quelled, once and for all, and you took your first step into the forest with good faith. Surely, after all you’d done to ensure your safety, nothing would happen to you.

🖤 SERIES MASTERLIST 🖤
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Standing in front of a full-length mirror, your reflection stares at you with an abundant clarity of irresolution, mirroring the inner turmoil within you. Your eyes begin to scan your appearance from head to toe in incredulity. Never in your twenty-one years of life have you ever dressed as provocatively as you are now. Heck, you don’t even recognise yourself.
The white cami bodycon corset dress feels tight as it accentuates your curves and has a designated contrast lace bustier that levitates your breasts and displays your cleavage, while a portion of your torso is conspicuously visible through the translucent material. The length of the dress reaches so far above your thighs that when you attempt to bend down ninety degrees, your white lace underwear peeks under.
You're not the type to critique people for how they dress, and you have nothing against people who wear revealing clothes, but right now? You practically look like a slut. A slutty angel, at that.
Your nose automatically scrunches up at the licentious thought. This is definitely not what you had in mind when your best friends, slash roommates, decided to buy you a ‘costume’ that fit the theme that they had also chosen for you ─ an angel. It is definitely ironic how the theme they chose for you supposedly requires you to dress decently.
When your gaze finally settles on the silver cross pendant that rests delicately on your chest, guilt coils in your stomach, and your moment of prior incertitude manages to render you completely disheartened while your eyes turn crestfallen.
What were you thinking? You’re supposed to live up to the code as expected of you, including to avoid dressing indecently and act with grace. But here you are, all dolled up with excessive skin revealing, and you still refuse to recognise that the person staring back at you is indeed you.
If your parents were here to see you now, they would have chastised and disowned you for dressing the way you are now.
Your parents, particularly your mother, are quite religious and strictly abide by the rules and codes of Christianity. However, your parents’ love and devotion to the religion were something you truly adored. Growing up, your parents often brought you to the church along with them, and you recall getting so excited at the sight of the familiar divine building situated in your neighbouring area that you even rushed to greet the priest eagerly. Every member of the church recognised you, and they would always warmly welcome you and your family, especially when your parents were regulars.
You were loved by them. As a matter of fact, you’ve been called ‘angel’ by them because of your kind and sweet disposition, how helpful you were whenever someone asked you for assistance, how obedient you were whenever you were told to do something, and how you resonated with people by how naturally sympathetic you were.
Everyone used to tell your parents how blessed they were to have you as their daughter. Your parents agreed and often thanked the Lord for blessing them with a daughter like you. Not only did you follow your parents’ example in the religion, but you had also been bestowed with the gift of being naturally smart since you were young until now. Truly, you were blessed, and each morning when you woke up, you didn’t forget to thank the Lord.
However, as you take in your appearance once more, your guilt becomes tenfold while disappointment creeps up on you. How dare you have the audacity to wear the necklace your father bought for you when you are dressed like this? You shake your head, taking a step back. This is not you. You should have never agreed to this in the first place.
Furthermore, final exams are approaching, and you had every intention to immerse yourself in studying for the next two weeks, but your best friends decided that it was a good idea to drag you out with them to attend an all-exclusive event called 'The Devil's Night' since it is Halloween week.
Initially, you felt disgruntled and detested by such a social event, especially one that is hosted by specific delinquents, but upon relentless pursuit of being coaxed by your best friends, you eventually found yourself caving in. Besides, you can’t deny that there is a small part of you that has always wanted to experience a college party since you have never been to one.
However, just because you have never been to one doesn’t mean that you have no idea what a college party entails. You have seen firsthand what happened to your roommates right after they came back from parties or even clubs, and it certainly wasn’t anything pleasant. Nonetheless, you offered to help them by assisting them in holding up their hair while they retched in the toilet bowl and getting them to bed, despite the grimace on your face.
A knock pulls you out of your thoughts, and your eyes remain on the mirror while they trail to a familiar face from behind. She looks absolutely striking with her overall fit, which matches her theme, which is that she is a cowgirl.
“Hey, Yunjin.” You greet her rather weakly.
Yunjin, as enthusiastic as ever, offers you a smile, displaying her pearly teeth. “Hey, gorgeous. Are you ready to go?”
Usually, you would reciprocate, as her smiles are infectious, but this time, with the doubts lingering in your head, you remain crestfallen. “No. I don’t think I’m up for it anymore.” You murmur, your eyes lowering, and that is also when Yunjin’s smile drops as she finally notices how crestfallen you look.
You don’t lift your head up, even as you hear her footsteps from behind. You feel her hands on your bare shoulders, turning you around and tilting your chin up with her fingers. Your eyes reluctantly meet her hazel-hued ones, which are tinged with resolution.
“I know that you are having doubts about this, but trust me when I say that just because you’re attending a party and dressing up like this, gorgeously at that, does not make you unworthy or any lesser in the eyes of our religion.” Her voice comes out strong yet tinges with gentleness, which you can’t help but acquiesce to.
Hun Yunjin, otherwise known as Jennifer, has been your childhood best friend, albeit not enrolled in the same elementary and high schools. She is an international business major. You met her when you first started to attend Sunday services at your neighbouring church. You recall sitting next to her and randomly engaging in a conversation with her, despite the fact that you two were not supposed to drift off to your own mini-world. You thought you would never see her again, but the next Sunday service proved you wrong. From there, you and Yunjin formed a newfound friendship, and you declared that she was your church buddy. That remained constant until you two hit sixteen, and you didn’t see her as regularly as before.
Just like that, you lost contact with her, and subsequently, you began to wonder what went wrong and questioned your friendship with her, which you cherished dearly. Not many years later, when you first stepped foot in this university, you met Yunjin again, and miraculously, she turned out to be one of your assigned roommates. You assumed that she would not recognise you or even brush you off coldly, but you were overjoyed when she welcomed you with a bear-crushed hug and told you how much she had missed you.
The thought of asking her what truly happened years ago did come to your mind, but for some reason, you were afraid and apprehensive of the outcome, and more importantly, you didn’t want to lose her again. So you chose to play safe. But what matters most is that you have reunited with her.
In return, you muster a faint smile on your pink, glossed lips. “You always have a way with words.” You say before releasing a soft sigh. “Fine, I’m ready.”
Yunjin’s firm exterior cracks, and her red lips curl into a grin. “That’s my girl.”
“Girls! Are we ready to go─” A gasp pulls you away from Yunjin’s eyes, and when you look at a familiar figure standing by the door to your room, you become in awe of how alluring she looks with her theme, dressed up as a catwoman.
“You look amazing, Karina.” You compliment her earnestly. Genuinely, she knocks the breath out of you, and despite being roommates for three and a half years, her striking beauty often makes you question yourself about whether she is indeed real.
Truth be told, you didn’t get along with Karina in the first few semesters. As she’s a fashion design major, it was inevitable that such a mess was expected from her, but you didn’t expect for her mess to scatter to the shared living room. You’re particular about cleanliness, so you disapprove of your roommate being blatantly inconsiderate, especially when you and your other roommates have had to clean up her mess. You recall when Karina overheard you delivering your complaints to your other two roommates, and she confronted you. From then on, she began nitpicking you, and you often found yourself in a dispute with her. You got upset whenever she pointed out the fact that you were plain and boring.
Precisely two years ago, you found her alone in the living room, at three a.m., as she was drinking her heart out with tears streaming down her cheeks and her eyes red. You wanted to mind your own business as usual, but it didn’t sit right with you to leave your roommate alone to reel in despair, so you cautiously approached her, and surprisingly, she confided in you. That was when you got to know that she had been cheated on by her boyfriend.
You listened attentively to her, and you even offered comforting words to her in which she thanked you by giving you a hug before falling asleep on you. Of course, you had tucked her in to sleep on the couch with a pillow for her head to rest on and a blanket to give her body some warmth.
You swore that Karina would return to her usual self, but she took you by surprise once more when she started to become amiable towards you. From then on, you two developed a newfound sense of camaraderie.
“Says you! You look drop-dead gorgeous!” Karina exclaims, her red lips outstretched into a wide smile, while you detect sincerity in her tone. “I’m proud to declare that my taste in fashion is impeccable.”
“I agree.” Yunjin chimes, casting you a smirk while your cheeks flush in pink from their fond gazes on you. “Our girl looks like a literal angel. If I were gay, I would have hit you up long ago.”
Before you can say anything, a new yet familiar voice joins in the conversation. “I know I agreed for Y/N to join us, but after some thought about it, I don’t think it’s a good idea.”
Your eyes shift from Karina to the tall, raven-haired beauty next to her. Once again, you are captivated by her beauty and how truly stunning her overall fit is, in which her theme is a mermaid, and you are not exaggerating when you say that she looks like a literal mermaid goddess.
“Why do you think so, Wonyoung?” Yunjin asks with a frown.
Jang Wonyoung, one of the university’s it girls and the girl whom you can call your soul sister. You recall the first time you met her when she opened the door to your dorm. You were captivated by her doll-like beauty and were so stunned that you stammered your words when you reciprocated her warm greeting. Wonyoung is in the same major as you, journalism.
Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the two of you are in the same major and in the same classes, but you found it peculiar how fast you got along well with her during your first week as freshmen. Nonetheless, you were grateful to have found a friend like her.
Although you are close with Yunjin and Karina, you can’t deny the fact that you feel more comfortable and at ease with Wonyoung. The two of you understand each other, even without words. Both of you are kindred spirits; whenever you feel down, it affects her just the same, and you two often share your victories together without any hidden jealousy or ill-feelings. There is this special connection you have to Wonyoung that is indescribable. Even your other friends often joke that the two of you are long-lost twin sisters.
Wonyoung’s eyes flicker to yours fleetingly, but it is enough for her to affirm her prior intuition before she returns her gaze to Karina and Yunjin. “I just have a bad feeling about Y/N going, okay? You guys do know that my intuition has never failed me.” She tells them firmly. “Besides, it’s an all-exclusive event for invited guests only.”
“So? We can easily sneak Y/N in since there will be tons of guests.” Karina shrugs her shoulders. “Their bouncers are kind of sloppy anyway. Remember when some of the uninvited students sneaked in last year and the years before that?”
“And what did that lead to?” Wonyoung counters firmly with a single eyebrow arched. This time, silence befalls Karina while you notice Yunjin’s grim expression.
“What happened?” You ask, finally speaking up. There is no denying how intrigued you are by the sudden yet discernible change in the air between your best friends.
“There is nothing that you need to concern yourself with.” Yunjin is quick to recover herself as she shoots you a charming grin while nudging her elbow against yours. “Come on. At this rate, we’ll be the last ones to arrive.”
“Maybe. But at least we’ll arrive fashionably late.” Karina mirrors Yunjin's grin.
You decide to push aside your curiosity and proceed to grab your phone while Karina and Yunjin have already made their way out of your room. After adjusting your wavy brunette locks in the mirror, you turn around to depart from your room. Your eyebrows jump when you see Wonyoung waiting for you just outside, and her face remains as serious as ever.
“Are you sure about this?” She asks you, and her voice has a touch of gentleness to it, which makes your eyes soften.
“Yes.” Although you sound sure, you can’t say the same for your churning stomach. Giving her a tight smile, you begin to loop your arm around hers. “If you’re too worried about me, rest assured that I won’t stray from you.”
“Good.” Wonyoung seems a tad satisfied with your statement. A small smile appears on her pink lips. “Maybe I am worrying about nothing. This is supposed to be your first ever Halloween party. We should be having fun! That is as long as we stick together.”
You smile wryly in return. She knows better than anyone that your idea of fun consists of rotting in bed and reading a few good books on a Friday night.
 ▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰
When you first heard of Devil’s Night, you had an inkling that the event, let alone the name itself, was undoubtedly not good news.
Devil’s Night is an annual Halloween event that is hosted by the notorious fraternity of devil’s knights, but according to your best friends, the overall in-charge of Devil’s Night are the four leaders. However, you see them all the same ─ just a bunch of delinquents who love to flaunt and assert dominance over Crestview Meadows University everywhere they go.
Naturally, you expected the location of the event to be a frat member’s backyard, but as soon as Karina, who volunteered to drive the three of you to Devil’s Night, presses on the pedal gas and prompts her vehicle to move forward after the golden gates opened, your jaw goes slightly unhinging at the sight of a divine modernization palace.
As Karina continues to drive, searching for an empty spot to pull over on the massive asphalt where different vehicles are arrayed, you are busily getting enthralled by the captivating structures of fountains in the front yard. The movement of people making their way to the entrance of the grand palace captures your attention, and your eyes sparkle in amazement at the diversity in their costume designs.
As soon as Karina manages to pull over at an empty spot and turns off the ignition, you step out of her vehicle with your eyes remaining fixated on the divine palace. You swear that it is nearly as massive as your campus. You begin to wonder who resides in the palace, and if so, has Devil’s Night always been hosted here?
“Y/N, don’t forget your mask.” Wonyoung’s voice from behind pulls your attention away from the palace. When you look at the white domino mask in her grasp, you gladly retrieve it from her and attempt to wear it, but Wonyoung and even Yunjin insist on assisting you, doing so with care.
Your cheeks flush pink once more. Despite being the same age as them, your best friends and your other friends often baby you, including protecting you from anyone who has ill-intent towards you, especially from some of the frat members who have tried to approach you in the past. Of course, you feel much gratitude for your friends, and you are blessed to be surrounded by feminine love and support. There are moments where you do feel overwhelmed by them, but according to their words, your innocence is highlighted as crucial and needs to be protected. Hence, they often shelter you from the cruelty of reality and want you to remain the way you are.
Pure, and a literal saint.
“There!” Yunjin gives you a grin as she pats your cheek affectionately. “With your mask, it’ll be hard for anyone outside of our circle to recognise you.”
As the four of you begin to make your way to the entrance of the grand palace, with Wonyoung interlocking her arm around yours, your fingers make their ascent to touch your mask. Your best friends have agreed that, in order to sneak in seamlessly, you needed a mask to conceal half of your identity. They wouldn’t want to risk anything. A part of you wonders what would happen to the uninvited guests crashing into the event, but another part of you retains your curiosity before it gets the best of you.
At the moment, as the bunch of you walk past the bouncers standing by the entrance, you hold your breath while your heart pounds against your chest, but when they allow you in, you release a relieved yet shaky breath. You feel Wonyoung’s arm squeezing around you in reassurance, and you voluntarily relax every tension in your body, but your heart remains pounding. You can’t ignore the turmoil within you, uncertain of what the night will entail.
“You guys made it!” A high-pitch squeal diverts your attention from admiring the opulence of the palace’s interior to the familiar blonde, who is dressed up as Annabelle from the famous conjuring film, but she manages to pull off the look rather gorgeously instead of terrifying. Her eyes instantly meet yours, and her face beams with a widening smile. “You came!”
You don’t have time to process when she crashes into you, her arms latching around your figure and steadying you while chuckles elicit from you as you reciprocate her eager hug. “You’ve just seen me yesterday, Winter.”
Winter, who also majors in journalism, is a part of the inner circle and your friend. She is like a bolt of lightning. Despite her ebullient disposition, she can be fierce and intimidating when needed.
“Yeah, but we can’t believe that you’re actually here!” This time, another voice causes you to look at the sight, and at once, the rest of the inner circle has gathered around you, giving you hugs and gushing over your look.
In your line of sight are Kazuha, Chaewon, Liz, Rei, Giselle, and Ningning. Whereas Kazuha and Chaewon are majoring in arts and entertainment management, Liz, Rei, and Ningning are majoring in economics. Giselle, on the other hand, is in the same major as you. Despite the fact that all of them are highly regarded as the it girls of the university, not once have they ever left you out and made you feel an outcast, especially considering that most of the student body dislikes you for reasons you deem ridiculous.
So what if they hate you just because you are not from an esteemed, affluent family? You managed to pass an entrance exam with a perfect score, and you even earned yourself scholarships. Frankly speaking, you are not bothered by the fact that there are students who dislike you for your status ranking, because in the end, your GPA remains a perfect 4.0 and your professors favour you most. Plus, your future is all set.
“Okay, ladies, gather around." Yunjin announces, and the group of you huddle in a circle, with giggles and banter emanating from you and your friends. “While we’re here to have fun, we must never forget to keep Y/N in our sight at all times, especially since this is her first time attending Devil’s Night.”
“Hey, I’m not a kid. I can take care of myself.” You insert yourself strongly, but your demur goes unheard by them as they continue to quickly run through what to look out for, mainly because your safety is highly regarded by them.
“It’s for your own good, Y/N.” Wonyoung tells you softly after noticing the expression on your face as soon as they begin to disperse while you remain by her side, dragging you with her. Wonyoung and your other best friends seem to know their way around the palace, pushing their way through the bustling crowd.
“You girls really don’t have to worry about me.” You remain adamant while reluctantly allowing yourself to be dragged by Wonyoung. Your eyebrows furrow, and your lips form a small pout. “I know how and when to steer clear of trouble.”
“I know, but you have to understand that this is different.” Wonyoung asserts firmly, to which you can’t help but resign.
Still, you mutter, but audible enough for Karina and Yunjin to hear, “What is so different about a mere Halloween party?”
“It is different because each Halloween hosted by the devil’s knights differs from the previous Halloween.” Karina answers, and when you look into her eyes, uncertainty shines through. “Really, we can never predict what they have up their sleeves. But one thing that remains constant is the fact that Devil’s Night is not meant for any faint of heart.”
“Ironic, because here we are, dragging Y/N with us.” There is a certain bite in Wonyoung’s tone.
“Nothing is going to happen to Y/N as long as she is in our sight.” Yunjin reassures Wonyoung once more, and your attention drifts to the scenery before you.
It appears that you haven’t been paying attention to your surroundings earlier, and now you find yourself entering what looks like a club. Incredulity buzzes through you. You definitely did not expect that there would be a club inside the palace. As a matter of fact, the club looks lavish, with a B-stage right at the very front and a bustling crowd enjoying and dancing to the music that has obscene lyrics, which makes your face twist in a grimace. You have no idea how enormous the venue is, but you can’t deny the fact that you find it impressive, and there are even two separate bars on each side of the venue.
Yunjin grabs you by your forearm and drags you with her and Karina to head over to the bar while Wonyoung trails behind you. Thankfully, there are not many people by the bar, but even so, you become conscious of how you look as eyes latch onto your form.
“Am I showing too much skin?” You ask Yunjin in a whisper as you settle next to her, seated on a high stool.
Yunjin’s eyes scan all over you before she gives you a smirk. “Yeah, but don’t worry. You look absolutely stunning. It’s a shame that you’ve been gatekeeping your beautiful complexion and your curves all this time.”
“Agreed!” Karina chimes next to Yunjin, casting you a mirthful grin. “You should be flaunting your curves and proving to those fuckers who insulted you for the way you looked that underneath your layer of clothes is the body of a model!”
You dismiss the profanity that left Karina’s mouth, and your cheeks flush with embarrassment. “You girls flatter me too much.”
“It isn’t flattery when it is true.” Yunjin flags down one of the bartenders to give him her order before she looks back at you. “Do you want a non-alcoholic beverage?”
“Actually, I’d like to try an alcoholic cocktail.” Your statement surprises your best friends as they look at you with wide eyes, knowing that you have never drunk any alcoholic beverages. After all, you are practically a saint.
“Are you sure?” As always, Wonyoung’s worry for you is evident. “You might get tipsy after a few sips since you have never drunk one before.”
“Don’t discourage her, Wony.” Karina says with a disapproving frown on her lips. “If Y/N says she wants one, she will have one.”
“A tequila sunrise for the angel here.” Yunjin chirps to the bartender, and being a natural flirt, she winks at the guy who, in return, blushes but quickly proceeds to make all of your orders.
As the three of your best friends are engaged in a conversation, you decide to look over your shoulder with your body tilting to watch the ongoing performance from a live band. You can’t deny that the music seems to be getting to you, and seeing the partygoers dancing and having fun tempts you to join them.
Unknowingly, your lips curve into a small smile. Unbeknownst to you, a pair of eyes have been watching you closely with a sharp gaze just near the bar, where there are velvet couches arrayed.
“Here, Y/N.” Yunjin pushes the glass of cocktail towards you as you look down at the liquid, which is a vibrant blue.
Your fingers latch onto the stem of the glass, raising it just slightly while hesitation touches your tongue. Your best friends watch in anticipation, and you don’t want to disappoint them. So you bring the edge of the glass closer until your lips touch.
You tip your head towards the back as you begin to take sips of the liquid. Surprisingly, the taste isn’t as bad, and neither is it too strong. It is rather addictive, so you eagerly drink the rest of the content until there is nothing left.
“How’s your first drink?” Wonyoung asks as she examines you carefully.
Maybe it’s the alcohol that is starting to affect your system, but you feel oddly elated. You give your best friend a grin, with your dimples appearing on your cheeks. “I think I would like to have another.” Of course, Karina and Yunjin are more than eager to indulge you, while Wonyoung remains neutral.
Once again, unbeknownst to you, the same pair of eyes that have been watching you closely are enthralled by the new sight of you.
Seated leisurely on the velvet couch with his legs spread, his lips tip up in a smirk as he takes sips of his vodka while his eyes remain fixated on your enticing figure and your angelic features.
▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰
You have no idea how things escalated. Just moments ago, you were having fun with your best friends by the bar, and even Wonyoung lowered her guards after seeing how genuinely carefree you looked. Now, you are among the bustling crowd. You lose sight of your best friends as you venture further. Instead of panicking, you find yourself enjoying it with your body instinctively moving to the infectious rhythm in which the DJ is currently playing Waka Flocka’s ‘No Hands’ as it reverberates throughout these walls.
Maybe it’s the alcohol in your system that has completely intoxicated you and renders you slightly tipsy, as evident by the way you emit giggles and how you’re dancing fluidly as though you are a natural at it, but not a single thought of regret appears in your mind.
Feeling a tad annoyed by your domino mask, you rashly remove it, not caring whether someone may or may not recognise you. Besides, the people in your vicinity seem too inebriated to care, as they dance and even make out lewdly in the open with their partners.
A part of you is berating you for losing yourself in the abysmal of this toxicity, but you shut down that part of you, giving into the whispers of the devils and succumbing to the addictive thrill by allowing yourself to flaunt your moves.
Unbeknownst to you, a pair of eyes have been watching you as he gradually makes his way to you despite the bustling crowd, and the moment they see him, they part and make way for him. The way you move got him in a trance, especially with each sway from your body. Your curves, which your skimpy dress accentuated, entice him to place his hands all over you.
Your giggles sound melodious to his ears as soon as he nearly reaches you from behind. His eyes darken with each passing second as your body sways with fluidity, and your back is arched with your head tilted up, immersing yourself in the music while a sultry smile smears across your glossed lips.
Fuck, he has no idea there is a side to you where he gets undoubtedly turned on by. Flashes of images of you being fucked relentlessly by him appear in his mind as he fantasises, and how he can already imagine your insatiable taste probably won’t satisfy him unless he has you locked in his possession.
Without thinking twice, he places both hands on your waist from behind, his fingers tingling with the sensation of your warmth. Instead of feeling alarmed, you remain relaxed and loose, dancing along to the supposedly stranger behind you.
You allow him to pull you closer until your buttcheek hits his hardness, causing your breath to hitch in your throat, yet you don’t stop dancing. You accidentally grind yourself against him, eliciting a low groan from him with his hot breath fanning the shell of your earlobe while his strong arms snake around your waist.
In your delirium, you tilt your head up and lean on his shoulder lazily, allowing him to guide your movements. His strong cologne is intoxicating as it infiltrates your senses. You hear his low, ragged breaths next to your ear before you feel him dipping his head to the curve of your neck, his nose burying in your skin as he inhales your sweet scent that he has engraved in his mind.
A soft gasp leaves your lips when you feel his warm lips touch your skin before he proceeds to kiss your neck sensually. You should be pushing this stranger away, but instead, you allow yourself to fall weak and succumb to the allure of his kisses on your neck. You blame it entirely on the alcohol.
“You taste exquisite, love.” You hear him murmur those words, or you assume he murmurs those words, since the music is overpowering. But you swear you recognise his voice. You feel his arms tighten around you, while the way he nips at your skin startles you.
In a blink of an eye, he spins you around, his hands remaining on your waist. The entire place is dim, but the LED red and purple lights allow you to catch a glimpse of his face. Recognition glimmers in your eyes.
“Jake.” You utter his name in a daze while your eyes begin to shamelessly scan his overall fit. You hate to admit it, but he nearly got you foaming in the mouth.
He looks extremely good in all denims with his chain necklace hooked around his neck, and his long raven strands have been styled impeccably, tempting you to run your fingers through them. Your eyes catch a sight of an inked tattoo on his collarbone area peeking due to his loose white tee that hangs a little low.
You don’t make any protests as you remain numb in his possession. Everything feels muddled in your mind, but you are conscious enough to continue dancing with him with a hint of sensualness.
Jake unfurls a soft smirk on his pink plump lips while he blatantly checks you out, appreciation and lust dancing in his handsome gaze. “I didn’t expect to see you here, Y/N.”
“Yeah? Surprised?” You feel oddly breathless, and you have no idea whether it’s from the dancing or the palpable tension between the two of you.
Jake hums attractively, his fingers tapping sensually on your waist to the beat of the ongoing music, and when you finally notice his gaze that settles on your cleavage, heat weaves across your cheeks.
“A lovely surprise at that.” Jake says in a murmur, dipping his head and leaning towards you while your pulses go erratic in anticipation, but he stops right next to your ear. The tip of his nose grazes lightly on your earlobe, sending you involuntary shivers down your spine. “But you shouldn’t have come here.” As he whispers lowly in your ear, you detect a hint of darkness in his tone.
“Why? Because I’m an uninvited guest?” You ask breathlessly, hating and loving how his intoxicating cologne tempts you to bury your nose into his chest.
Your breath hitches in your throat when he presses a deep, sensual kiss on your cheek before withdrawing from you to get a good look at your face. Upon seeing how dazed you truly look, he smirks once more and squeezes his hands on the flesh of your hips. “Cute.” He mumbles. His eyes flicker down to your glossed lips, which entice him to kiss you, but he holds himself back.
“You should leave while you still can, love.” He mutters, reluctantly releasing you from his possession and already yearning for your warmth.
“Y/N!” You hear voices that belong to your best friends calling for you from behind. You look over your shoulder just in time to catch glimpses of their faces amongst the dancing crowd.
When you turn back, Jake is nowhere in your line of sight, bringing a confused frown to your lips. Even as he has mysteriously disappeared, your skin remains tingling with the sensation of his lips and hands. Your mind is in a muddle, infused with the intoxication of the alcohol and his strong cologne that you will definitely remember.
“We’ve been trying to search for you everywhere!” Wonyoung exclaims, giving you no time to process when she lunges for a tight hug. She releases a relief sigh before pulling away and examining you. “Thank God you’re okay. But why are you not wearing your mask?” She asks, looking alarmed.
“I throw it elsewhere. I don’t know.” You mutter, blinking your eyes as you feel lightheaded. “Don’t worry. I’m not afraid of being recognised. They’re all preoccupied with partying and dancing anyway.” You provide some assurance to Wonyoung, while Karina and Yunjin seem relaxed.
“Let’s go. We can’t miss the second rave.” Karina tugs at your wrist, dragging you with her gingerly and guiding you through the crowd.
“Rave?” You ponder out loud, and your eyes dart between Yunjin and Wonyoung.
In response, Yunjin gives you a Cheshire smile. “Trust me. You are going to love it.”
“By the way, who were you dancing with?” Karina inquires as she busily guides you to a place, which you presume to be the backyard, while there are other guests along with your group heading to the same place.
“No one.” You answer curtly, giving her a tight smile. “I had fun dancing alone.”
You know better than to inform your friends that you were dancing intimately with Jake Sim, or else you’ll receive an earful from them, considering they detest the knight members. They even reminded you to stay away from any of the knight members, particularly the four leaders.
As soon as the thought of the four devil’s knights’ leaders comes to your mind, your eyes widen in dreadful realisation while your heart nearly lurches in your chest. Since you were too busy getting caught up in the heat of the moment, you failed to realise that Jake is one of the leaders, the one who had you in his possession with a scintilla of danger emanating from him.
▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰
The rowdy commotion from the partygoers sounds faint with each step he takes towards the meeting room on the second floor. Jake, who was previously in denims, has changed into practical attire for the upcoming section of the main event. He busily zips up his black bomber jacket while his face remains devoid of emotion, but his mind occasionally drifts off to you.
How tempted he was to snatch you away from the scenery and bring you to one of the rooms with the intention of giving you the best fuck of your life as well as leaving you with his marks on your porcelain skin. He quickly shakes away the thought of you, not wanting to get hard again, as it’ll only be a bother since he is already running late for the briefing.
Stopping in front of the door that is made out of steel, he punches the code onto the padlock keys before the door automatically opens. The familiar sight of a fairly lengthy corridor with separate entrances arrayed on each side of the walls greets him as he steps inside. Hearing the door behind him close with a thud, he begins to make his way to the meeting room, where multitudes of voices are teeming in the cold atmosphere as it gets louder.
Without announcing his arrival, he saunters into the massive meeting room with his hands tucked inside his pockets while his face remains neutral, ignoring the rest of the knight members of the lower rank as they are settled in their respective houses.
The devil’s knights fraternity consists of four houses─ North, South, East, and West.
Each house has its own respective leader. However, their goals are aligned. This has always been the system, as each year there are numerous new recruits, and they do have to dominate their respective territories on campus and even on the streets in town. Almost everyone is knowledgeable about and conscious of the renowned devil's knights. Crestview Meadows University favours the devil's knights fervently, especially considering the fraternity was founded many years ago by four particular individuals who are now affluent figures.
“There he is. The star of the night.” A snarky remark is made by one of the leaders, also known as Park Sunghoon. Jake’s gaze lands on him as he continues to saunter forward until he reaches the table where the other leaders are gathered as well.
“Spare me your sarcasm, Hoon.” Jake says in a monotone, throwing himself onto the swivel chair and making himself comfortable.
“You’re late.” Sunghoon shoots him a scowl as he is seated on the table. The table itself is scattered with a variety of knives.
“He was probably fucking around with the freshies. Can’t even keep up his pants for a minute.” This time, another voice makes a remark, prompting Jake to look at his fellow leader slash best friend. Jay Park.
Jake narrows his eyes at Jay’s smirk. “You’re lucky I'm in the mood to play nice.”
“Enough.” A firm voice is resonating enough for the other knight members in the room to quieten the volume of their chatter. Jake, Jay, and Sunghoon shift their attention to the figure seated by the window sill with his arms crossed over his chest, also known as Lee Heeseung.
Heeseung remains unmoving, but his gaze alone is enough to assert dominance over them, especially since he is the oldest out of the four of them by one year. “Now that everyone is here, we may begin our briefing. For those of you who were on bouncers’ duties, how many uninvited attendees were there?”
All of the knight members would usually gather in this meeting room for briefings and other important matters pertaining to the annual devil’s night planning, et cetera. However, there are some rooms that are restricted to them unless they are the leaders. Furthermore, this very palace is officially owned by the four devil’s knight leaders, considering that their fathers were the founders of the devil’s knights. As a matter of fact, this palace was previously owned by the same founders, but as many years passed and their sons followed in their footsteps in joining the renowned fraternity, the founders collectively agreed to bequeath the palace to their sons.
North: Jake
South: Heeseung
East: Sunghoon
West: Jay
These four delinquents have successfully led their respective houses for the past years with their skills, and they were impressively the youngest leaders to have been appointed when they were just freshmen. Though they have different personalities, they get along well, considering that their fathers are best friends as well.
“Approximately twenty.” One of the low-ranking members takes the initiative to answer, a sophomore, and he is from the West House.
However, his answer raises an eyebrow from his leader. The sophomore flinches at the way Jay directs his sharp gaze, which is penetrating enough. “Approximately?” Jay’s cold voice affects everyone except the other leaders.
“He meant to say that there are twenty-three uninvited attendees!” Another sophomore from the West House steps in to assist the other sophomore, who is shaking in his boots.
Before anyone can speak up, one of the windows swings open, allowing the gust of wind to enter. The four leaders watch, completely unfazed, as a familiar figure wholly in black, layered clothing emerges, climbing into the meeting room, followed by two figures.
The three of them stand tall in their line of sight as they remove their designated masks, now revealing their faces. Jake is the first person to greet the three of them with a lopsided grin. They are Devil’s Knights’ honorary members who are juniors and appointed to be leaders next year once the four current leaders graduate from university. Sunoo, Jungwon, and Riki.
“The kid’s right.” Sunoo says, placing his mask down on the table. “There are a total of twenty-three uninvited attendees.”
“That’s a long list of people to hunt down compared to last year’s.” Riki’s deep voice echoes in the room, while his tall figure is intimidating enough for the other lower-ranking members.
“The more, the merrier.” A Cheshire grin smears across Jungwon’s lips while a familiar bloodlust gleamers in his eyes. “Oh, we’ve already covered all the perimeters. Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Felix, and Jeongin are on standby.”
“Good.” Heeseung nods his head firmly, feeling satisfied with how competent their future leaders are. Heeseung’s eyes glide across the fraternity present in the room. “All of you know what to do. Remember to only hunt down whoever’s name you were given, and most importantly, Namgil and his crew will meet their demise tonight.”
“Ah, Kim Namgil.” Sunghoon smirks, a wicked intent can be seen glinting in his eyes at the mention of the ex-member. “I can’t wait to crush that fucker’s skull.”
Jay scoffs out a deadly chuckle, his veins are brimming with vengeance. “Not until I get to him first.”
“Patience. We’ll be sticking strictly to the plan.” Heeseung tells them sternly before looking back at the rest of the fraternity. “Remember that our goal is to wreak havoc and terror, including mayhem. For those of you who are new recruits and this is your first Devil’s Night, you do not need to worry about the law enforcement, as they’ll only be here with the sole purpose of establishing the roadblocks to prevent our guests from escaping until Devil’s Night is over.”
To add on, Devil’s Night is a tradition that has been going on since their founders’ times and happens every Halloween. This tradition is also supported and endorsed by the mayor of Seoul and other influential figures that are highly regarded in the eyes of the government. There is no denying that by permitting Devil’s Night to be lawful on every Halloween, it proves that the government and its system have long since been corrupted.
“In short, you may also do what you please for the next twelve hours.” Jake grins deviously with his hands clasped together. “In other words, unleash your inner devils.”
At once, an uproar emanates from the fraternity before Jay begins to dismiss them. “Don’t forget your masks and weapons!” He reminds them as they proceed to make their way out of the meeting room rowdily, leaving the four leaders and the future three leaders alone in the room.
“There is another important thing you guys should know.” Sunoo speaks up, drawing their attention. Interest sparkles in Sunoo’s eyes. “Y/N is one of the uninvited attendees.”
“Y/N?” Sunghoon scoffs out in disbelief, refusing to take Sunoo’s words seriously. “You should really work on your humour if you plan to impress us.”
“Do I look like I’m laughing?” Sunoo deadpans before he motions to Riki and Jungwon. “Ask them if you still refuse to believe me. They saw her at the second rave.”
“Yup.” Jungwon toys around with one of the knives in his grasp leisurely while a smirk paints his canvas. “She looks pretty, though. It’s a shame to lose a pretty face like hers.”
“Her name is not in any of the lists.” Riki points out. “So who shall be hunting her?”
“Can I?” Sunoo asks with a glimmer of hope in his eyes. “I’ve always wanted to scare her.”
“No.” Jake takes everyone by surprise as he nearly growls out. His eyes darkened at the thought of you. “No one touches her. No one except me.”
“Since when did you get to decide on this alone?” Jay raises a single eyebrow at his best friend. “To make it more interesting and thrilling, I say the four of us hunt her down.”
“And kill her afterwards?” Sunghoon’s face twists in a grimace. “Don’t get me wrong. It won’t affect me if we kill her, but I don’t want those pesky friends of hers to hunt my ass down.”
“What about you, Heeseung?” Jay asks as all heads turn to the silent male, who appears in deep thought. “How are we going to decide on what to do with Y/N? Rules are still rules. Uninvited attendees shall not make it out alive on Devil’s Night.”
“We hunt her down as well.” Heeseung states calmly. “But don’t kill her yet. We’ll decide what to do with her once we hunt her down.”
“Then we’ll make our way to our respective posts.” Jungwon offers the four leaders a salute before wearing his mask and making his way to the opened window, where he expertly jumps over while Sunoo and Riki follow suit.
“We have like thirty minutes left until the last segment.” Jay notes, staring down at his wristwatch before his gaze returns to the three of them. “I don’t know about you guys, but I, for one, am intrigued to see for myself if what Jungwon said was true about Y/N looking pretty.”
“She was.” Jake utters, his lips curving into a grin, while he recalls the gorgeous sight of you. “I was with her earlier.”
“How?” Sunghoon asks incredulously.
“She willingly danced with me. Oh, and she seemed rather tipsy, so it makes the hunt a whole lot fun.” Jake chuckles breathily.
“What did she dress up as?” Heeseung finds himself asking this, feeling almost compelled and intrigued to know about the theme you chose.
“An angel.” Jake is certain of his answer, and no, not because of the way you dressed, but because you are indeed an angel who is unfortunate enough to have stepped into their territory without knowing the consequences of your actions.
“How fitting.” Heeseung’s lips turn into a subtle smirk. “Well, gents, it looks like we have ourselves an angel to hunt down.”
▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰
You can definitely understand the rationale of those who have been to this event for the past few years and those who are invited behind their hype for Devil’s Night. The activities the knight members hosted are so diverse that no one can simply miss out on anything. Well, you did miss out on the famous cliché game of truth or dare, not that it bothered you.
Presently, you and your group of friends, including Winter, Kazuha, and the others, are making your way back to the backyard once more after getting some refreshments earlier when the second rave ends. Now all of you have decided to attend and participate in the third rave. The last rave of the night.
The B-stage at the backyard is bigger than the one inside the palace at the supposedly club room, and the crowd is tenfold compared to the previous rave, which enlivened the night even more while the ambience in the air is vibrantly teeming with the LED pink and purple lights flashing across the sea of crowds and into the skies. The bass-boosted music of ‘Tonight’ by Big Bang that the DJ is playing reverberates throughout the expanse of the palace and even further.
“Look at Y/N! Babygirl got moves!” Giselle’s remarks draw attention from your other friends to you, watching you in an effervescent element, which is undoubtedly a rare sight for you.
“I’m glad she’s having fun!” Kazuha exclaims cheerily, smiling widely at the sight of you giggling and dancing in your own world with Chaewon and Liz.
Wonyoung, who opts to take a short break from the dancing, watches you with a softened gaze while her hand is holding a red cup of vodka. Is she still worried for you? Yes, but right now, she is glad to see you having genuine fun.
“She needed this.” Yunjin speaks beside Wonyoung as she watches you as well. "Now, are you glad that we dragged her here?”
“Perhaps.” Wonyoung says. “As long as nothing happens to Y/N or any of us.” Yunjin nods in agreement.
“Okay! I need a break!” Chaewon laughs out, halting her movements, but you pout your lips at her, to which she giggles and pecks your cheek. “Sorry, babe, but you’re on your own now.”
Chaewon makes her way out of the crowd, excusing herself to head to the bathroom while your other friends immerse themselves in the music and separate themselves from you. Eventually, you blend into the crowd, causing Wonyoung and Yunjin to lose sight of you.
The thought of other sweaty bodies coming into contact with yours doesn’t bother you in the slightest. There is a wild glint in your eyes as you dance with a random couple, giggling and succumbing to the exhilaration brimming in your veins.
Unbeknownst to you, you accidentally bump into someone from behind, but just as you are about to apologise to the person, firm hands grip your waist as he pulls you back to him, allowing your back to hit his solid chest.
“Nice moves you got there.” His hot breath fans the shell of your earlobe, reminding you of Jake earlier, but this time, this person’s touch has a hint of roughness, whereas there was gentleness in Jake’s. “Why did you stop, baby?” He hums seductively.
“Jay.” You breathe out, going completely still. His hands remain on your waist, sending you goosebumps with the sensation of his warmth.
“Angel baby.” He lulls beside your ear before you feel him dipping his head down to press a sensual kiss on your shoulder blade. “Come on. Show me your moves.” It is a command.
Despite the trepidation coursing through your veins at the fact that one of the devil’s knights's leaders has you in his possession, you know better than to refuse him. So you begin to sway your body before you gradually pick up the rhythm.
Eventually, you lower your guard around him and dance willingly with him, occasionally grinding your body against his, to which he groans lowly at the sensation of your ass in contact with his dick.
A giggle leaves your lips upon feeling his breath tickling your skin when he buries his head into the curve of your neck. Instinctively, your hand ascends to brush your fingers through his soft raven locks while the two of you continue to sway in sync to the music.
“If I had known you were this fun, I would’ve brought you out with me to a nightclub sooner.” Jay murmurs near your ear before he places a sensual kiss on your pulse.
“You can’t kiss me whenever you want, you know?” You giggle once more, enjoying the way his strong arms are hugging your waist from behind. Perhaps the remnants of the alcohol persist in your system, but you have never been this playful and flirtatious around guys.
“Oh, but I can. I can do whatever the fuck I want with you.” Jay rasps against your skin on the cheek. You feel his fingers stroking your stomach in a sensual manner before they make their ascent to your chest. “Besides, you’re in our territory, angel baby.”
You gasp while your heart lurches in your chest when he gropes your breast, and a low groan leaves his lips next to your ear. Your cheeks flush with warmth at the newfound sensation that pools in your tummy.
“Fuck, baby.” He cusses lowly before pressing another kiss on your neck. “The things I want to do to you right now, but unfortunately, duty calls.”
You frown at the loss of his touch and warmth. “Jay─” But as you turn around, Jay disappears into the crowd, just like Jake did.
“Y/N, for the love of God, do not ever disappear like that again!” Wonyoung’s exclamation can easily be heard over the commotion as you spot her just a few metres away from you.
Your face twists into a grimace at how visible her annoyance and frustration are on her face. Soon, you spot your other friends as well in your vicinity. A part of you desires to find Jay and ask him to elaborate on what he meant by his statement earlier, but you know better than to further involve yourself with him. Just as you step forward, the music dies out, eliciting confusion and anger from the crowd.
“What’s happening?” “Hey, DJ! We weren’t finished raving!” You hear commotions around you, making your head spin lightly.
What happens next throws you completely off guard, and subsequently, you become fully sober miraculously.
The deafening sound of a siren rings through your ears, which is akin to the purge, shattering the night of riotous jollity instantaneously. Despite the perpetual blaring siren, you can discern a dissatisfactory chorus of groans and clamours amongst the crowd. The LED lights begin to dim, but you manage to catch glimpses of your friends' contortions with confusion and percipience.
Before you can open your mouth to speak with the intention to inquire, a stentorian voice that belongs to a female startles you, as it is resounding enough for you to absorb her emphatic words into your mind despite the ongoing siren in the background.
"Announcing the commencement of the annual devil's night sanctioned by the mayor of Seoul. Weapons of class 4 and lower have been authorised for use during Devil's Night. All other weapons are restricted. Commencing at the siren, any and all crimes, including murder, will be legal for 12 continuous hours. Blessed be the four leaders of the devil's knights."
At once, the tumultuous crowd begins to disperse in a haphazard manner, and some can be seen running as though they are being hunted down by unknown sources, or rather, delinquents. Despite the fear in their contortion, you can't help but notice the glimpses of excitement, and an eccentric ambience of thrill pervades in the haunting atmosphere.
Apprehension courses through your veins while your heart beats expeditiously. You swear you can hear your pulse drumming loudly in your ears. In the midst of the ambiguity, your intuition is sending you a message that what may escalate next is not something you expected on a purported Halloween night routine, or rather, assumed.
"Ouch! Hey!" Annoyance bubbles within you upon having been shoved roughly by some people, resulting in you nearly plummeting to the ground if it weren’t for your best friend, who swiftly and steadily supports you as she holds you against her.
"What is going on?" You ask in a demand, with pure confusion reflecting in your eyes. You notice how Yunjin looks oddly collected, but as soon as her gaze runs over you, her eyebrows pull together before a low cuss elicits from her.
"I told you that it was a bad idea to drag her here!" Wonyoung startles you greatly with how she sounds genuinely irate, but when you take a glance at your gorgeous raven-haired best friend, your stomach sinks at the apparent distress written across her delicate features. "We need to get her out of here before any of the knight members get to her, or any of us, for that matter!"
"Winter and Liz are with the others!" Karina informs in haste as she appears next to you, seeming to be running with how apparent she is panting lightly. "We have approximately five minutes to get the hell out of here!"
"It's no use even if we try to escape." Yunjin sighs, running her fingers through her red strands. "They're not letting us out until it's over."
"I don't care." Wonyoung snaps at Yunjin, taking you by surprise when she grabs your wrist tight. "We will find a way to get out of here, even if it means that I have to use violence to fight off the knight members."
"I don't get it!" You raise your voice as you dart your eyes between your best friends. "This was supposed to be a normal Halloween night, but now crimes are acceptable for the next 12 hours?! What sort of─"
The sound of a shotgun pierces through the air, shocking you greatly, and before you can even process anything, you find yourself being dragged by Wonyoung, with Yunjin and Karina following closely in haste.
By the time you have arrived at the parking lot, your eyes widen at the gruesome sight of two masked men displaying violence upon a student who, you presume, attends the same university as you, looking all bloodied with his face completely ruined.
"Come on!" Karina shouts, snapping you out of it before you are being thrust into her car by Wonyoung, who then proceeds to enter the backseat with you while Yunjin is in the shotgun.
As Karina switches the ignition of her vehicle, a shriek leaves your lips as soon as the window next to you shatters into pieces by a golf stick, prompting you to duck your head and move further from the masked man as he attempts to reach out for you, but Karina immediately slams her foot on the pedal gas and speeds off.
A loud gasp escapes from you while your heart is pounding hard against your chest. Wonyoung swiftly engulfs you in her warm embrace, in which you desperately seek comfort, even if it's just for a moment.
"What the fuck?! There are roadblocks everywhere!" Karina exclaims, and you sense a scowl in her tone.
"That's what I've been telling you! We can't escape anywhere until Devil's Night is over." Yunjin says exasperatedly before she looks over her shoulder at you, uncertainty and concern residing in her gaze upon seeing how visibly shaken you are as you cling onto Wonyoung's arms.
"Ah, fuck!" Karina curses once more before steering the wheel expertly, finding other possible solutions. Yunjin shoots her a withering glare, to which Karina retaliates. "Don't give me that look. I have totally forgotten what it was like on Devil's Night."
"Was that why a few students died last year?" You manage to speak through shaky breaths. "Because they were killed on Devil's Night."
Silence befalls your best friends, but as Wonyoung squeezes her arms around you, you know that your presumption is correct. You have finally connected the dots. Initially, you didn’t want to make the assumption that those students who died on Halloween were the same ones who attended Devil’s Night. But as their silence confirms that, your stomach sinks in dread, and you begin to pray silently.
Deciding to distract yourself, you notice some bikers are on the same run as they ride ahead of you, as well as two cars, to which you assume that they are the invited guests.
"We can hide at some place, maybe a building, where there is a high chance that they won't find us." Wonyoung tells Karina, while the latter nods her head and continues to drive with keen eyes.
The vehicle comes to an abrupt halt, sending both you and Wonyoung flying forward. A series of profanities emanate from your best friends.
"Damn it! The wheels got punctured!" Karina groans loudly as she hits her forehead on the steering wheel. "So what's the plan? Either way, we're probably going to get fucked."
"We run, duh." Yunjin pushes the door open, while Wonyoung seems reluctant but heeds her words.
"But we're wearing heels!" Karina's exclamation goes unheard by you as you attempt to catch up to Yunjin and Wonyoung. You wince as you soon begin to feel the aches. Tonight is the wrong night for you to be wearing heels.
You don't even know where you are at this moment, focusing solely on following your best friends from behind, until you hear a familiar voice calling for your group just a few metres away.
"Guys! Over here!" You recognise the guy, who is a junior from the business department. He is fairly famous among the ladies. With the motion of his hand, he is beckoning for your group to enter what looks like an abandoned, massive, three-story building.
"Ricky!" Wonyoung greets him with a friendly yet brief side-hug as soon as she reaches for him. "Are you sure this place is safe?"
"On Devil's Night? Nowhere is safe." Ricky shoots her a lopsided grin before his eyes settle on your face, and instantly, he blinks his eyes in surprise. "Y/N? You're here on Devil's Night?" He asks in dubiety.
In return, you give him an awkward smile. "It's kind of a long story."
"No time to explain. Thanks for helping us out, by the way." Yunjin pats his shoulder firmly before brushing past you.
"Come on." Ricky pulls you in and proceeds to close the fairly huge door with a loud thud.
A gust of wind hits your skin, sending you involuntary shivers as your arms latch around your body in an attempt to warm yourself while your eyes scan the interior of the building with no lights in sight. The only source of light is the moonlight, which streams through the broken window glasses.
You hear hushed yet noticeable voices belonging to unfamiliar and familiar people that go scattering across the floor. You keep wandering around, getting immersed in how hauntingly beautiful the interior building is, as though the previous owners were the royalties.
As you look away from the broken chandeliers above you, you notice that you are in a foyer with a massive flight of stairs in sight. That is also when you realise that you have gone astray from your best friends.
"Wonyoung?" You call out for her, your voice echoing throughout the dark, and your eyes have adapted to the setting. "Yunjin? Karina? Ricky?"
Your body jolts when you hear a piercing scream that belongs to Karina, although she sounds as though she is somewhere on the second floor. Your eyes widen in mortification at the thought of your best friend being gravely injured before you proceed to take hurried steps forward.
Just when your foot steps on a stair, a dark figure standing way above the second floor captures your attention. As you look up, your heart nearly lurches in your chest upon seeing the person with the physique of a man looming over you. He is wearing a black bomber jacket with the hoodie covering his head, and his red mask obscures his identity. His head is tilted to one side, and you would have found it cute if it weren’t for the fact that he is holding a literal metal baseball bat in his grasp.
At the moment he makes his first descent, you begin to make your retreat by undoing whatever you're about to do. You hear a breathy chuckle elicited from the red-masked man that you swear sounds familiar.
Your stomach churns with uneasiness as you continue to back away from him cautiously. Oddly, his movement seems deliberately slow, as though he is taking his time trying to scare you. Releasing a shaky breath, you turn around with the intention to run, but you bump into a solid chest.
Before you can fall, gloved hands latch on your waist, steadying you. As you slowly look up, colours drain from your face at the closed-up look of a designated black mask that he is wearing, and you have no idea who he is. He is also wearing similar attire as his fellow comrade.
"Look at what we have here." His voice sounds oddly deep, as though he is using some sort of advanced technology to conceal his real voice. Despite him wearing a mask, you swear you can feel his gaze raking all over you. "We're giving you ten seconds to run far, angel. Starting now."
Of course, you know better than to delay. So you run, ignoring the touch of his gloved hands on your skin that remains lingering. Your heels and thighs are hurting from all the running. Your chest is hurting with the way your heart pounds hard. Trepidation courses through you. You fear what is to happen next, and you hope to live to see the next sunrise.
It appears that luck is not on your side tonight, as you find yourself falling to the ground. Pain shoots up in your ankle, but thankfully, it is bearable. With a wince, you slowly lift your head up with your hair dishevelled, and when you do, you feel as though your heart drops to the pit of your stomach.
Fear resides in your gaze as you stare up at the figure looming over your fallen figure, his boots directly in front of your face. His head is tilted to one side as he stares down at you, and his face is obscured with a white mask that has a vertical red stripe on one side.
Your mind is screaming at you to run from him, but it is as though you have been rendered immobile, your body paralysed with petrification. Tears well up in your eyes as he bends down on one knee and uses his melee knife to slide under your chin, tilting your head up.
"Please don't kill me." You hold back a sob, attempting to stay strong, but a traitorous tear betrays you as it slides down your cheek.
"You should’ve thought about it twice when you decided to show up in the first place, sweetheart." His voice sounds akin to that of the previous masked man, but you can detect a gentleness in it. For a moment, he reminds you of a certain individual who has been your academic rival for the past few years.
In a blink of an eye, you gasp as he hauls you up with a strong grip and slams you against the wall without any thoughts of gentleness. Your heart continues to pound against your chest as he pins both your wrists above your head tightly while his other is occupied with his melee knife, the tip sliding down your cheek, but not enough to leave any traces of scars.
"Were you supposed to dress up as an angel?" He asks while leisurely trailing the tip of his melee knife against your throat and descending to the expanse of your chest, where your cleavage is enticing to him. "Yeah, you were. But a slutty angel at that."
The degradation in his soft tone throws you off guard. Before you can speak, he renders you speechless when he leans down to press his lips against yours, and you would have considered this your first kiss if it weren’t for the barrier of his mask.
Karina’s piercing scream shatters whatever trance you are in, prompting you to turn your head sideways where her screams are echoed. “Karina.” You utter her name worriedly before looking back at the mysterious masked man whom you will call White. “Please don’t let them hurt Karina or any of my friends.” You implore him rather meekly.
White chuckles, though you can easily detect his mockery. “You are so fucking adorable, sweetheart. Thinking that you can order me around just like that.” He leans away from you and releases you.
Just when you think you can make your escape, he proves you wrong when he grabs your arm firmly, pulling you to flush against his body warmth. “You’re not going anywhere until we’re done with what we need to do.”
“We?” You blurt out just as he drags you with him. It isn’t long until the previous masked men you saw greet you in your line of sight as they laze around by the foyer.
Their heads snap at you, and despite wearing those masks, you swear you can feel the intensity of their gaze on your figure. You decide to call them by the colour of their masks.
“Are we seriously bringing her with us?” Black asks, his tone tinged with annoyance. “She will only be a hindrance to our mission.”
This time, you decide to intervene. “Not to worry! I can just leave you guys to your mission while I see myself out.” You crack a nervous smile before attempting to run past White, but what happens next greatly shocks you.
With ease, White has thrown you over his shoulder, carrying you with his hand holding onto the back of your waist for security. White simply ignores your pathetic attempt to protest as he gives Black and Red a firm head nod before they proceed to make their ascent to the flight of stairs.
You continue to wiggle in his firm grip, and you are conscious of the fact that your weight might bother him, especially the weight in your thighs, as they are slightly thicker than your best friends’.
“Stop moving!” White grunts, getting annoyed at your antics. In an attempt to silence you, a slap echoes throughout while you feel a stinging pain on your buttcheek before your cheeks go flushed at the realisation that he has just smacked your ass without any hesitation whatsoever.
“Jungwon, Riki, what’s the status?” Your ears perk up at the familiar names, whom you recognise as the renowned juniors that are closer to the four devil's knights leaders compared to any frat member.
“Everything is ready. Just say the word, and we’ll blow the building up.” You hear Jungwon’s voice coming from someone’s phone, and you frown at his statement.
“Felix just informed me that Namgil and his crew took the bait and had just entered the building.” Red speaks to White and Black, whereas your stomach is starting to hurt from how sharp White’s shoulder blade is.
You poke at White’s back, earning his attention. “My stomach hurts. Can you let me down? I promise I won’t run away.”
Silence is all you receive from White, which disheartens you. So you close your eyes and try your utmost to withstand the pain while holding back whimpers. Just then, you feel yourself being settled down on a soft cushion before you open your eyes to see yourself seated on a worn-out couch.
You are about to thank White, who is looming over your figure, but you are rendered speechless when he ties your wrists together with a black cable tie.
“What are you doing?!” You raise your voice, the disbelief is evident in your tone. “You didn’t have to tie me! I gave you my word that I wouldn’t run away!”
“Just to be safe.” White tells you before taking a step back. “Stay put, sweetheart. We’ll be right back for you.”
With that, White, Red, and Black make their departure, leaving you alone in this dark room with the only source of light coming from the window, moonlight streaking in, and the faint screams of terror emanating from the outside tainting the night.
▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰
You did attempt calling for help or even your best friends, but to no avail. Your throat is starting to hurt, and you are in dire need of water to quench your thirst. To make matters worse, your ankle looks slightly swollen from falling earlier.
You refuse to obey White’s instructions, so you decide to venture out of the room, trying to find the way out. With each step you take, you limp slightly, wincing every now and then due to your throbbing ankle. You definitely need medical attention before it gets worse.
After what feels like forever, you finally manage to descend to the first floor in the foyer as you hold onto the railing. You heave a sigh, and a glimmer of hope shines in your eye at the thought of escaping from this place, from the three masked men.
But you should know better than to hope, especially when you have broken the rules that are expected of you as God’s blessed child.
Dread fills you when a group of five mask men are in your line of sight. However, these mask men look entirely different compared to the devil’s knights. They are wearing red bomber jackets instead of black.
“Well, well, well, what do we have here?” One of them, whom you presume is the leader, steps forward as he cackles wickedly. “Y/N. I never thought I’d see a day where the good girl dressed up like a slut.”
You recognise that voice. Kim Namgil. Apparently, he broke some sort of rule or whatever that got him dismissed from the fraternity club. You have heard that he was the worst of the worst of them.
Of course, desperate times call for desperate measures. So, with your slightly swollen ankle, you turn around with the intention to run away from them, and you are almost successful when you feel a painful impact on your back from getting hit by a wooden baseball bat, resulting in you falling to the ground on your knees. You don’t even have the time to attempt to defend yourself despite your wrists that are tied together when he flips you around and pins you to the ground with his fingers curled around your neck in a firm, threatening manner.
“I’ve always wondered what it feels like to fuck you and break you.” Namgil snarls coldly in your face behind his black mask. “After I’m done with you, I’ll let my crew have their turn in destroying your cunt, and then right after, I’ll tear your limbs one by one.”
The fear coursing through your veins is so intense, while tears spring from your eyes. But you remain resilient, still fighting and struggling in his firm grip. Raising your leg, you knee him hard in the sack, eliciting a pissed-off snarl from him.
Your head is turned sideways at the impact of his slap, and your tongue tastes the metallicity of your blood from the cut at the corner of your lips due to his ring. This time, you don’t hold back your sob, weeping helplessly underneath him, yet you keep praying to God that you will be saved.
“Namgil, I don’t think we have time to mess around with her.” One of his crew members tells him with a sense of urgency.
“Just a quick fuck.” Namgil tells him as he squeezes your throat tight, causing black dots to appear in your vision before he slaps your face again, and this time, your head starts to throb painfully.
“Damn, she looks like a fucking slut.” You hear one of them make derogatory remarks with chuckles. “Faster, Namgil. I can’t wait to fuck her pussy.”
At the moment you hear a zipper, more tears spill from your closed eyes as you give up hope and await the pain. But nothing happens next. Instead, you hear a commotion involving punches being thrown and a series of groans and cusses.
You no longer feel the weight of Namgil on top of you, as someone has pulled him away from you. You flutter your heavy eyelids open, and the gruesome sight of Kim Namgil being beaten to pulp by Red greets you just across from you.
“You fucking dared to touch her?!” Red growls out as he grasps his metal baseball bat and is tainted with Namgil’s blood. “You deserve to die a slow, painful death, Namgil.”
You look away with a wince as soon as Red brings down his metal baseball bat to Namgil’s ruined and bloodied face once more, diverting your attention to White, who plunges his knife into one of Namgil’s crew members, to which you gasp, startled upon witnessing the knight members displaying true violence in real time.
You hear a painful scream of a man before the sound of bones cracking makes you go flinching, but you find yourself looking at where the source of the sound comes from, staring at Black, who has broken the limbs of the one whom you recognised as the guy who made the last remark when he slutshamed you.
Then you see a new masked man, and you call him Silver, making his way over to Red, who is evidently berserk and is stopped by Silver. Red seems to breathe heavily and steps away from Namgil before he turns his head to you, but you are busy watching Silver, who appears to be saying something to Namgil tauntingly before the sound of bones crushing pierce through the air.
Upon having to witness such gruesome sights with blood splattering everywhere, tears are continuously streaming down your cheeks, but you have no strength to sob out. Fear and trepidation spread throughout your chest at the thought of you being their next victim.
You flinch as footsteps approach you while you remain on the floor, having no strength after being assaulted by Namgil and his crew. You hear low murmurs around you while your mind is in a haze.
You can barely comprehend anything when you feel someone cutting the cable tie that binds your wrists. A pair of strong arms lifts you and carries you with ease, prompting you to flutter your eyes open to see yourself in Silver’s arms.
“Jungwon, blow the building up.” You hear Black speak as soon as the five of you step out of the abandoned building.
“Wait.” You mumble groggily, wincing as your head throbs once more. “My best friends, they’re still inside─”
“The only ones who are inside are the dead bodies.” Silver says above you, his deep voice is akin to the other masked men’s, surprising you. “Your friends are still alive and have been brought to another place.”
You don’t say anything, too shocked to form coherent sentences upon witnessing the building blow up with a booming sound. You watch as the building is engulfed by the roaring, ferocious flames while the masked men continue to advance forward without a care for the burning building behind them.
A black van pulls over by the curb before the door slides open, revealing the familiar faces of your juniors. “Get in.” Riki tells them before his dark eyes land on you. His eyebrow is raised at you, but he doesn’t say anything as he scoots to the back when Silver steps forward to place you inside.
“Hey, Y/N.” Sunoo greets you with a grin as he is seated in the shotgun. “Fun times, ey?”
You don’t respond, resorting to silence as the rest climb into the van before the door closes. Jungwon, who is the driver, presses his foot on the pedal gas as he speeds away. You expect the four masked men to reveal their faces, but they don’t.
Silver, who is sitting next to you, turns his body to face you with his head tilted to one side. “Now, what shall we do with you?” He ponders out loud, and his statement sends shivers down your spine.
But you are too numb to make any protest or defend yourself from these masked men, as the gruesome images of blood and the sound of bones crushing that emanate from Namgil and his crew remain reeling in your mind. Despite the fact that you’ve always had complete distaste for Namgil, you know that he didn’t deserve to die.
The moment gloved fingers caress your cheek, you flinch away from Black, who is seated next to you. “Since the second part of the hunt is starting soon, why don’t we let angel here join the others instead?” He suggests to his fellow comrades.
You release a shaky breath as you stare at Black with visible fear and curiosity. “Second part of the hunt? You mean to tell me that earlier was just the first part?” Your tone is laced with disbelief.
“That’s right. The first hunt was to hunt and kill the victims on our list while the others spread horror and terror to those lucky ones who didn’t make it to the list.” This time, Jungwon tells you, meeting your eyes in the rearview mirror fleeting, yet you manage to catch his smirk that has obvious wicked intent.
Perturbation gnaws in your tummy as you lick your dry, quivering lips. “And what does the second hunt entail?” You manage to ask despite the shakiness in your voice.
“You’re about to find out, angel.” Black chuckles with a hint of darkness, and concurrently, the vehicle comes to an abrupt stop, nearly flinging you to the front, but Silver’s quick reflexes manage to prevent you from doing so with his arms shooting out to hold you.
The door automatically opens before Silver makes his exit first, he turns to you and holds his hand out for you, to which you hesitantly accept his assistance before you make your exit as well.
▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰
“Y/N!” Your girls, specifically Wonyoung’s voice that overpowers theirs, call for you as soon as the four masked men have brought you to where the other victims are gathered, as well as the other knight members with their masks and similar attire. You shudder upon seeing different types of weapons in their grasp.
All the while, you have been trying your utmost to ignore the throbbing pain in your ankle and walk as normally as you can. The sound of gates rattling closed from behind startles you, prompting you to look over your shoulder to see that the entrance is closed. You scan your surroundings briefly, noticing that they have brought you to a massive labyrinth garden, which appears to have a multitude of mazes that also seem endless. You spot the divine palace in the background, but it looks further away from you.
Once White releases his grip on your arm, you waste no time rushing for your awaiting friends and crash into the first person who has her arms outstretched for you. Your eyes water as you bury your head into her chest, and for once, you are glad that she’s taller than you by five centimetres. Wonyoung’s warmth shrouds your cold, trembling form while you feel relieved to see her and the others again, despite the fact that this comfort you desperately seek and bask in is only temporary.
You silently thank God for keeping your good friends safe and in one piece.
Just then, your eyes widen at the sudden realisation that hits you, prompting you to pull away from Wonyoung. “Karina!” The moment you utter her name, your gaze immediately settles on the familiar catwoman standing in between Winter and Kazuha. As your eyes rake all over her, confusion etches on your canvas. “You’re not hurt? But I thought I heard you scream earlier.”
Karina gives you a sheepish smile. “I got startled when a cobweb of spiders hit my face, and afterwards, one of the knight members scared the fuck out of me, but don’t worry, honey, I’m perfectly fine!” She reassures you once more, and you begin to relax, only for a while before the screeching sound of a speaker pierces in the air, causing all of you to wince.
“Congratulations for making it to this stage.” White speaks into the microphone, garnering everyone’s attention while you briefly look over to the numerous familiar faces of the other students amongst the crowd. “However, Devil’s Night is far from over, and unfortunately, whether you’ll survive this stage or not is all dependent on you.”
White passes the microphone to Silver. “Yes, we’re aware that this is new for those of you who have been to the previous annual Devil’s Nights.” Silver explains. “For this stage, all of you will be given seven minutes to run and find the exit of the labyrinth garden.”
“Seven minutes?!” A guy from your cohort barks out his discontent. “Seven minutes is impossible for us to make our escape! Look at this maze! It’s fucking massive!”
“Too fucking bad.” You hear a smirk in Silver’s tone. “So you better be running for your life once we hit the countdown.”
“And what happens if we don’t make it to the exit in time?” Liz asks loudly, and when you look at her, you frown at the discernible excitement in her eyes. Why is she excited when she should be apprehensive just as you are now?
It’s not just her, but you notice the palpable tension of excitement emanating from some of the victims. It is as if they have been expecting this adventurous thrill that may or may not cost their lives. Your face twists into a slight grimace, finding them odd.
Red snatches the microphone from Silver. “For those of you who successfully manage to find the exit on time, congratulations. You are free to leave and enjoy the rest of Devil’s Night with what we have to offer.” Black pauses before he elicits dark chuckles. “But for those who fail, you’re ours to kill, ours to toy, ours to torture, and ours to fuck once we find you. We’ll do whatever we want for you. So when we tell you to run, you run and don’t ever fucking stop.”
You see Black motioning for the microphone, which Red gives him. “As for our fellow knights, don’t forget to stake your claims if you haven’t. Remember to hunt down only what is yours.” As Black says this, you can feel his gaze behind his mask fixed intently on your face. “The second part of the hunt starts now.”
On his command, everyone, with the exception of the knight members, erupts into squeals and tumultuous commotion as they make their way to the multitude of mazes haphazardly. Wonyoung has already dragged you along with her, shoving her way through the crowd with profanities occasionally leaving her lips while her grip around your wrist tightens.
“This way!” Wonyoung barks over her shoulder to you before tugging you with her into one of the mazes.
“Yunjin! Chaewon! Girls!” You shout to your friends at the other side, who fail to hear your calling as they proceed to enter different mazes, followed by some other victims. You wince when Wonyoung adds more force as she drags you. “Wony! Slow down!”
“Are you crazy?!” Wonyoung raises her voice as she gives you a bewildered glare. “We only have seven minutes, and you’re telling me to slow down!?”
“But my ankle hurts.” You whimper as you finally allow yourself to limp, prompting Wonyoung to halt her steps while panic resides in her gaze.
“How did this happen?!” Wonyoung begins to fuss over you, bending down to touch your swollen ankle before returning her gaze to your face. “Never mind that. How bad does it hurt now?”
“Like an eight? I don’t know.” You grimace, putting more weight on your other perfectly fine ankle. Your eyes dart at your surroundings while you rub your arms in an attempt to provide some warmth due to the cold breeze that hallows as well. “How are we even supposed to find the exit in this massive labyrinth?” You ask, feeling disheartened. You yearn to return to the comfort of your bed and snuggle with your soft toys.
“Can you try to withstand the pain?” Wonyoung asks with a concerned frown, and you nod your head in response. “Okay. We’ll try to brisk-walk and search for the exit. We have about,” She pauses as she glances down at her phone screen. “Four minutes?! Shit!” She grabs your hand and wastes no time walking in haste.
You ignore your ankle, which is throbbing painfully now, as you follow her. Amidst the trepidation, determination sizzles through you, and you have every intention to escape from the knights’ grasps, specifically the four masked men from earlier. Your stomach churns while you have an inkling that they’ll be hunting you down.
Time seems to be passing by slowly as you are starting to feel the exertion dawning on your body from the events that happened since the moment you stepped foot into their territory. Wonyoung, too, looks exhausted as she has finally released your hand, but as always, she remains composed with her head held up high, and determination is like steel in her eyes.
The two of you turn to the right corner, and at once, groans are emitted from both of you. Greeted in your line of sight is a lengthy, narrow maze with different entrances on each side. “I swear we’re going in circles!” Wonyoung scowls indignantly, but nonetheless, she advances forward while you stop to take a breather.
You pant lightly, wiping the sweat above your brow. “Wait, Wony─”
But just as Wonyoung turns around, a figure decked out in familiar attire and a grey mask that obscures his identity emerges from the shadows of the entrance next to Wonyoung, who grabs her with his arm around her waist while the other has her wrists locked firmly.
“Hey! Get the hell away from me!” Wonyoung thrashes in his grasp as he drags her with him. She turns her head to glare at the man in the mask before recognition flickers in her gaze. “Jungwon! Please!”
A gasp leaves your lips at the name that leaves her mouth. You watch as Jungwon continues to drag Wonyoung with him while the latter continues to plead, though you can’t help but discern the softness in her tone towards him.
“Wonyoung!” You cry out for your soul sister as you step forward with the intention of getting her back, afraid of what might happen to her. But the moment you attempt to reach out for her, Jungwon turns to look at you and shakes his head.
“Don’t, Y/N. Unless you want to end up on the wrong side of my knife.” The wicked intent in his voice is resounding, rendering you frozen in your spot. “Luckily for you, you’re not mine to kill.”
“Y/N─'' Jungwon clamps his hand over Wonyoung’s mouth before they eventually disappear from your sight as they enter one of the entrances, leaving you alone and helpless.
Tears are welling in the rims of your eyes, while the trepidation that courses through your veins is starting to feel overwhelming. You sniffle as you quickly wipe away the fallen teardrop on your cheek before you force yourself to advance forward, mustering whatever courage and determination are left within you.
▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰
The shrill screams, which belong to different individuals, have been continuously pierced into the cold, foreboding atmosphere once more, startling you as you tighten your arms around your body in an attempt to seek some form of succour.
By now, you are numb to the pain in your swollen ankle and solely focused on surviving this hunt and making it out alive. You turn to a left corner and continue to venture forward until you hear a voice belonging to a familiar person that kindles hope in your chest.
“Yunjin?” You call for her, moving forward while your eyes dart everywhere as you walk past different entrances. You become startled when you spot one of the knights holding a chainsaw chasing after two girls who are screaming in terror before you quickly mind your own business and resume searching for your childhood best friend.
“Yunjin─” You immediately halt your steps as soon as you hear faint moans emitting from your very own childhood best friend. Your face contorts into confusion as you listen to how she is moaning pleasurably while there is a faint slapping sound of skins.
A part of you knows better than to indulge your curiosity, but you find yourself advancing forward once more. As soon as you turn your head, the obscenity sight greets you and renders you completely shocked to the point where your body feels paralysed, unable to move.
There is your childhood best friend on top of a masked man as he is seated on a wooden bench, and their lower regions are completely stripped off of any layer of garments. Her back is facing you as she bounces continuously on him with her hands draped over his shoulders lazily.
As your gaze falls down, that is when you finally notice that Yunjin is indeed fucking down on the masked man. You can see how lewd they are fucking into each other with a series of moans and groans emitting from them. You should feel disgusted, and you should be looking away from the obscenity, but you become enthralled by the sight of his cock disappearing into her pussy each time she bounces.
Oddly, your heart is racing at a foreign pace, and your throat becomes dry the longer you watch them get immersed in the fucking. You stagger a step back, panting lightly while feeling a foreign sensation pooling in your core. The warmth all over your body feels odd, bothering you greatly.
“Fuck, just like that.” The mask man throws his head to the back, holding Yunjin by her ass cheeks to assist her. “You’re doing so well, baby. Keep fucking on me like a desperate whore you are.”
You squeeze your thighs together to suppress the sensation that becomes oddly unbearable in your core. Just as you stagger a step back, your back hits a solid chest, causing your heart to drop.
Before you can run away, an arm slithers around your waist, locking you in place. A tut leaves his lips. “Naughty angel. Having fun watching your best friend fucking him like a whore?” It is Black.
“N-No.” You protest weakly, looking away from the sight, but he uses his gloved hand to grip your jaw and turn your head, forcing you to keep your eyes trained on your best friend.
“Don’t lie to me, baby.” Black speaks next to your ear while your breaths get heavier and your mind is tainted with forbidden thoughts the longer you watch them fuck. “I know you love it. You’re probably wishing that was you.”
Your breath catches in your throat as he gropes the flesh of your breast with earnestness, while his other hand trails downward on your stomach before his fingers go underneath the material of your dress. You gasp inaudibly at the sensation of his fingers teasingly grazing across your clothed pussy, and you swear you can feel some form of essence leaking between your folds.
“N-No.” Your weak protest does nothing to stop Black from his assault on you while you watch with hooded eyelids as your best friend continues to fuck the mask man vigorously while the sounds emanating from them become pornographic.
“Fuck, you’re nearly soaked, angel.” Black nearly growls as his chest vibrates against your back, sending you shivers down your spine.
Light pants leave your lips as your mind is infused with impure thoughts, and your hips buck, as though in an attempt to entice Black, but he continues to tease you by stroking the outer of your womanhood.
The sound of a feminine scream pulls you out of the lustrous trance as you blink your eyes. Mortification hits you like whiplash, while guilt shrouds you. Gritting your teeth, you muster courage before slamming your elbow into his stomach hard, resulting in him releasing you while a painful groan emits from him.
“Y/N!” You hear Black roaring from behind, the sheer anger is palpable in his tone while you run as if your life depends on it, despite your ankle sending you signals that it needs medical attention as soon as possible.
Your brunette waves flail behind you, soaring in the wind as you run while a few strands of your locks stick to your face. Your heart is pounding harder against your chest, and your chest begins to tighten with anxiety at the worst possible outcome.
A scream leaves your lips as soon as two lower-ranking knight members emerge from the bushes with different weapons in their grasp, bringing fright upon you. You run to the opposite side, and when you do, other knight members wreak terror upon you with their weapons, but they don’t do anything to you. It is also as though they are forcing you to go in the intended direction by scaring you relentlessly.
You choke back a sob, tears stinging in your eyes. You wish that this was all just a mere nightmare, but the exertion, the aches, and the pain all over your body say otherwise. You find yourself yearning to return to your beloved parents and the cosy ambience of your home, where you feel safe and loved.
A genuine scream of terror rips from your throat when Silver emerges from a shadow, holding an axe that is dripping with blood. “Where do you think you’re going, princess?” He asks mockingly, stalking towards you.
Tears stream down your cheeks, but you refuse to let out a cry. You back away from him quickly before turning around to run, but you crash into a solid chest and firm hands hold onto your waist, prompting you to look up and stare at Red with panicked eyes.
“Caught you, sweet angel.” You hear him purr with pleasure. You shove him in the chest, pushing him away from you. Facing your two predators, you back away in haste. Pure fear shines in your glistening eyes.
From your peripheral vision, you spot Black emerging from the tall bushes with a dagger in his grasp, and you can immediately discern his wrath, as evident in the way he trudges towards you.
“Stay away from me!” You begin to scream at them, tears are relentlessly streaming down your cheeks. “Leave me alone, you sick bastards!” You ignore the small voice in your mind that is berating you for saying a profanity.
“So the angel can scream.” Silver remarks with a cold chuckle. “Scream all you want, because no one will come to save you.”
Frantically, you grab a small rock at the side as you bend down before you throw it in the direction of Silver, who dodges in time. Silver scoffs out a chuckle. “You’re really starting to get on my nerves, princess.”
You yelp out as you trip over something, resulting in you falling backward with your bum hitting the hard ground. You wince before you attempt to get away from them, crawling backwards as your three predators are nearing.
But at the moment your hand touches a boot behind you, your heart sinks into the pit of your stomach before you force yourself to look up. Alas, White is staring down at you while in his grasp is a white handkerchief.
“You failed, sweetheart.” White says softly.
In an instant, Red hauls you up, forcing you to stand and holding you firmly by the arm. You whimper out a cry as you feel your hands being forced to the back as White has your forearms interlocked with one hand.
“Don’t worry, baby. We won’t be fucking you tonight.” Black chuckles darkly at the side, the anger that emanates from him is evident. “This is something to remember us by when you wake up, and when you do, remember our masks.”
Red grabs your chin, tilting your head up. “We’re not done with you yet, sweet angel.”
You open your mouth to speak, but White covers your mouth and nose with the white cloth, forcing you to inhale the substances that he had sprayed with. You struggle in their grasps with tears leaking from your eyes, but soon, you begin to lose strength while your mind becomes groggy.
Your hooded eyelids feel heavier with each passing second. Alas, you succumb to the darkness as it shrouds your whole being.
▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰
“Y/N? Y/N! Wake up!”
It feels as though your soul has been slammed down into your body as you jolt from your deep slumber. Fluttering your eyes open, you are greeted by the familiar sight of your bedroom ceiling before you finally realise that you are back in your dorm. The exertion dawning on your body renders you immobile as you remain in bed.
You feel soft fingers stroking your cheek, prompting you to look at your childhood best friend, whose face has a twist of concern and sympathy. “Babygirl, you’re fine now.”
That is also when you realise the dampness on your cheeks. With Yunjin’s assistance, you raise your body to be vertical and lean on the headboard. You glance down and notice that you are in your Hello Kitty pyjama set.
A relief sigh leaves your lips. So whatever happened last night was just a mere nightmare. Yet, it is a nightmare that you will probably remember for the next few days.
“Is she awake?” Wonyoung’s voice draws your attention to her as she barges into your room. As soon as your eyes meet hers, you notice the sheer relief in her eyes. “Y/N, thank God you’re fine. You’ve been asleep for so long.”
“It wasn’t that long.” Yunjin tells Wonyoung before taking a glance at her phone screen. “Oh, wait. You’re right. Y/N missed breakfast and lunch.”
“What time is it?” You ask, finding it odd that your throat is dry and scratchy.
“It’s four in the afternoon.” Yunjin replies as she gives you a sympathetic smile. “It’s understandable that you woke up this late.”
“I had a nightmare.” You mumble, your fingers tracing circles on your duvet that is covering your outstretched legs. “A really terrifying nightmare. I don’t think I ever want to experience that again.”
As Wonyoung sits on your other side, you immediately latch your arms around your best friends, bringing them into a hug while you sigh in contentment. “I’m glad it was just a nightmare.”
But they don’t reciprocate your hug, which brings a frown to your lips. You pull away from them and notice prudence in their heavenly features. “What?”
“Babygirl, what happened last night wasn’t a nightmare.” Yunjin tells you, her voice sounds quiet.
The relief you feel dissipates and is replaced by apprehension. Your chest feels constricted as fragments of the whole event that transpired last night coalesce into one. The last remark from Red remains vividly clear in your mind.
“It wasn’t?” You ask numbly, looking at Wonyoung for confirmation, and the latter nods her head. Your eyes trail down to her neck, noticing fresh purple and red hickeys on her porcelain skin.
“Hey, the other girls will be coming over─” Karina stops her sentence midway as she saunters into your room, her eyes meeting yours. “Y/N! You’re awake!” She grins at you, oblivious to your disheartened spirit. That is also when you notice bandages on her forehead and hands.
You uncover the duvet from your legs. The familiar throb in your swollen ankle serves as a reality that you did, in fact, attend Devil’s Night on your own accord, and you have no one else to blame but yourself.
“I helped to ice your ankle and apply some ointment.” Wonyoung tells you as she rubs your thigh soothingly. “It should heal in two or three days.”
You remain silent while your eyes turn crestfallen. Your three best friends exchange worried glances.
“Y/N, are you okay?” Yunjin asks gently, and when she touches your shoulder, you visibly flinch, bringing a frown to her lips.
The obscenity of your best friend willingly fucking herself onto one of the knight members is something you can’t erase, and you can’t help but feel sickened and disgusted. You're disgusted at her, and more importantly, you’re disgusted at yourself for bearing forbidden thoughts and for how you acted. You recoil from her touch, scooting slightly away from her before you return to lie on your bed with your back facing her.
“Yeah. I just want to be alone for now. Please.” You croak out pleadingly while tears spring from your eyes as you hug the duvet close to your chest.
“Fine, but don’t miss dinner, okay?” Wonyoung pats your arm gently before she proceeds to depart from your room alongside Karina and Yunjin. All the while, they become confused by your unusual behaviour.
“We’re not done with you yet, sweet angel.”
Red’s words remain lingering in your mind, taunting you and evoking the familiar fear within you while dread crawls onto your skin.
With a faint of heart, you release the sobs you have been holding back, weeping in the comfort of your bed that is surrounded by your soft toys. You will definitely remember your first Devil’s Night, and it will also be your last.
You fear that the events that transpired on Devil’s Night have been engraved in your mind as well as rendering you traumatised, and you have no idea if you will ever recover from them.
▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰
You didn’t leave your room for the next few hours. Your eccentric behaviour worried your best friends gravely, and they took turns knocking on your door to get you to come out and have dinner, but you didn’t respond to any of them, causing them to resign and finally leave you alone.
It is not that you hate your best friends, but the fact that they don’t seem to be bothered by whatever happened last night and their normalcy confounds you. At the same time, you can’t help but feel resentful towards them. Knowing that they have been attending Devil's Night since freshmen, how do they still not find any issues in the Halloween event that entail such heinous pursuits?
You love your best friends, you really do, but right now, as you have been reflecting deeply, you wonder if you truly know them.
“Mom.” You greet your mother on the line as you press speaker mode.
“Hey, sweetie. Aren’t you supposed to be asleep at this hour?” Your mother’s kind and gentle voice brings tears to your eyes while you try your best to hold back your sob. You yearn to be in her warm, comforting arms, where you feel undoubtedly safe.
“I slept more than enough earlier.” You force out a laugh, wiping the fallen teardrop from the corner of your eye. “Is Dad there?”
“He’s on a night shift.” Your mother informs you, but you sense a certain tone of knowingness in her tone as she continues to speak. “Tell me, what happened?”
“Nothing. What makes you think that?” You raise your body vertically, sitting on the bed, while one of your soft toys is in your lap as you toy with its arm mindlessly.
“I know my daughter, Y/N. You hardly called me at this hour. Did something happen to my sweetie?”
Alas, the tears brimming in your eyes cascade down your cheeks. “Am I still good, Momma?” Your voice cracks in between, allowing your true emotion to surface.
“Of course you are. You are always good, and goodness is always inside of you.” Your mother remains constant in the way she speaks to you in a soft lull.
“But what if I did something bad?” You say sullenly. “What if I sinned?”
There is a brief silence on the line, and you can’t discern whether your mother is mad at you or not. “Sweetie, there is no denying that you are God’s blessed child, and purity has always been a big part of you, but you are a human just like the rest. You’re bound to make mistakes. So if you have sinned, you should already know what to do next.”
“Are you mad at me?” You ask meekly, swallowing a lump in your throat. You hate disappointing your mother.
“No, I’m not.” Your mother reassures you. “Get some sleep, okay? It isn’t good to stay up too late. I love you, always. Remember that, sweetie.”
“I love you too, Mom.” You reciprocate as your voice comes out shaky before you end the call.
Your gaze settles on the familiar book of the Bible on your nightstand. With your trembling hand, you reach out for the book. Once you have it in your possession, you begin to flip over the pages before your fingers halt at a certain page. At once, you begin to read.
▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰▰
“Are you sure you don’t need me to come with you?” Kazuha asks as soon as you dismount from her Yamaha bike. You proceed to give her the helmet before you adjust your slightly tousled hair, making it neater.
“I’m sure.” You tell her, a tinge of resolution glimmers in your eye despite the guilt that has been churning in your tummy. You give her a smile of gratitude. “Thank you so much. I owe you one.”
“Nonsense. You’re my friend, aren’t you?” The leather-clad girl grins at you. “Call me when you’re done. I’ll fetch you. Besides, we’re long overdue for a date.”
You watch as Kazuha speeds off with the blaring noise from her engine, eliciting a chuckle from you as you know that your dear friend is simply flaunting her sleek black bike.
The smile on your lips flattens as soon as your gaze settles on the divine building. A gust of wind hits your skin, sending you shivers and prompting you to hug your white coat around your figure. It has been quite some time since you visited the church that is situated on the same street as the campus due to the heavy workload given by your professors for the past months that you didn’t even have the time to visit.
You find yourself stepping forward before picking up the pace and entering the building. Thankfully, there are not many people. You offer a polite smile to the sisters walking past you, as they also welcome you with warm smiles.
At once, you feel at ease, and the familiar tranquillity in the ambience feels like a gentle hug, assuring you that despite the sins on your shoulder and the guilt weighing on your conscience, you will be pardoned in the end. After all, you are God’s most loved child.
The priest, who appears to be speaking to one of the members of the church, directs his focus to you, and once he sees your face, a warm smile touches his lips. “It has been awhile, my child.”
You reciprocate his smile despite your nervousness. “School has been keeping me occupied.”
“What brings you here on a Sunday morning?” The priest asks.
You release a shaky breath while regret shines in your eyes and the guilt tightens around your heart. “I have a confession to make.”
His smile falters just slightly. He tips his head in the direction where the familiar booth of the sacrament of penance is, beckoning you to follow him. “Come, child.”
It isn’t long until you have finally reached it, now seated on the chair with your heart pounding against your chest.
“Whenever you are ready.” The priest says to you from the other side.
The events that transpired last night are like a film in your mind as you recall them. A tumultuous mixture of emotions is palpable within you while you attempt to remain collected.
With a shaky breath, you begin your confession, “Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned…”

YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOU SCREAMED FOR LONG, but one thing you did register is Jungwon's fingers curling around your arm, pulling you back.
Your eyes was fixtated over the bloodied skin, his open eyes staring at the night sky.
"Shit, come on, Yn, stand up!" Jungwon said, his voice trembling and you found the strength in your legs.
Your thoughts were just tangled and intertwined, you couldn't hear a single coherent thought.
"Yn!"
You stood, the sheer shock freezing your nerves as you clung onto Jungwon, and you find yourself and him backing away.
What the fvck just happened? The red lights from his car didn't help. It only added to the darkness surround you and him.
You could almost hear your own heartbeat, staring at the body bag...
"Get in the car." You pulled on his arm. Jungwon nodded wordlessly and he gave you a little push as well.
You barely registered how badly your legs were melting as you pulled the car door open, entering the warmth of the vehicle, but everything felt so cold inside your muscles.
With a slam of his door, Jungwon shakily clutched his phone.
"Um, what happened? We heard you scream?" Yunjin asked, oblivious of what your mind was just tainted with. And you didn't speak for a second.
"Yn, Jungwon?"
Jay gazed at you and him, watching how Jungwon fumbled with his phone, typing in the 3 numbers and latching the phone to his ear. Instinctively, he locked the car doors, realising how they were utterly drowned in darkness, the dark road isolated, crops and plants on either side.
You rubbed your eyes, swiping a hand through your hair and you felt the flashes of the body shock you.
"What the fvck is going on?" Yunjin said again, leaning off her backseat.
"It's... there's a body..."
Yunjin stilled, words and thoughts freezing for a good moment. It wasn't quite processed in anyone's brain. It didn't sound real.
"You're kidding-."
"I'm sorry, did you say body- as in, a dead body?" Jay spoke up but he was in disbelief.
And Jungwon started speaking into the phone, eyes flickering here and there, feeling a little sick. He could almost smell the lingering stench of blood.
"Hello, I need to report something..."
Whilst Jungwon discussed with the police, you couldn't help but feel the looming darkness. The eerie night hung over the car more heavily. You couldn't find your words that were buried deep in your chest.
There was something peculiar about the man. The little stubble on his chin, the wrinkles dented underneath the eyes, the blue fabric over his once-alive body.
The realisation dawned upon you, and your breath came out shaky as you heard Yunjin speak again, trying to ask if you're okay, her hand shaking your shoulder a little.
"I recognise him," You said quietly, staring ahead in the darkness. Yunjin and Jay became quiet, bewildered.
"What do you mean?" Jay murmured.
For a few seconds, you heard Jungwon speak frantically about what he saw into the phone, and then you turned to the two in the back, anxious knots tightening your chest.
"The man... the d-dead body... its the school Janitor."
After a few minutes of waiting on the line and staying frozen in the car, your heartbeat calmed a little. It was still racing, but your nerves weren't going insanely crazy, and your fingers tangled over each other.
Yunjin and Jay kept silent, their head occasionally turning towards the back windshield, seeing the blurred outline of the body bag within the red lights.
And Jungwon's eyes darted around, his fingers picking at his sleeve, his phone heating his ear, but he couldn't even register the increasing warmth over his igniting thoughts.
You couldn't help but try and make yourself feel better, words coming out before you registered them.
"Since he's dead, do you think Jungwon will get arrested?"
Everyone turned to you in silence. Jungwon furrowed his eyebrows, disbelief sweeping across his gaze.
"What the fvck?"
"Sorry."
Their phones light up simultaneously, reminding them that they were somewhat connected to reality outside of the traumatic event you and Jungwon witnessed.
Though it was just Heeseung asking about desserts and Jay scowled, muttering a "he just doesn't give up".
Where you did find Heeseung to be comforting in... strange ways, you found it more comforting when flashing blue and red lights caught your gaze from the mirrors of the car.
The sirens peirced the silence of the isolated road, 2 vehicles pulling up in front of Jungwon's car, securing the area. Everyone practically deflated, you and Jungwon especially.
A few officers exited, talking into their radios as they sauntered to the windows, knocking thrice. Jungwon instantly put the windows down, heart racing.
They started off introducing themselves, one officer at your side and another at Jungwon's. They asked for names first before everyone had to get out the car despite the creeping anxiety.
Hugging yourself, you stood next to Jungwon and Yunjin, the air growing chilly. Maybe it was only colder because you refused to move a muscle.
More police officers gathered around the body, their radios buzzing as messages were transacted. You're glad Yunjin and Jay didn't need to witness that.
You were snapped back to reality when a kind voice spoke to everyone. You glanced to see a young man, black hair and full lips. You saw his sympathetic smile and he held a little, black notepad.
"Hi, I'm officer Sim Jaeyun, I'm going to take in statements," He introduced himself. Though, Jay perked up, glancing at Jaeyun with a spark in his eye.
"Bro?" Jay uttered, stepping forward. The officer glanced, a similiar spark in his eyes.
"Braur?" Jaeyun said back, and everyone witnessed them approaching each other, dabbing one another. It was honestly the most weirdest thing to be fair.
Jay smiled a little before turning to you and the other two, sensing the confusion.
"Ah right, Jaeyun- I mean, Jake, used to be my study partner. We took different courses but they aligned pretty well."
Oh right- Jay took forensics before dropping out that path before he got hit with the difficulty.
It was a nice little reunion, but no one said anything, frankly too apprehensive.
"And they're my friends. We were about to get dessert, but y'know, those plans are ruined..."
Jake shook his head softly, smiling at everyone. He held his notepad, sighing.
"I didn't think my reunion with you would be at a crime scene." Jake breathed, looking at Jay and the others with concern.
An awkward laugh escaped Jay's lips and he scratched his nape.
"Yeah, it's not ideal..."
You stared blankly at the ground, mind slowly crumbling. You shuddered and Jay noticed, worry twinkling in his eye.
Jake spoke again. "I transferred a few weeks ago. So, to be fair, this is my first case right now."
Everyone kind of listened, the chill of the wind grazing everyone's skin, hair messing up slightly. Jake decided to set everything down to business as he cleared his throat, and flipped his notepad.
"I'll take statements. Who found the body first? I'll probably take their statement first."
You and Jungwon perked up. You don't know what it was, but the actual idea of seeing a dead body, a person that smiled at you this morning kind of haunted you. And for Jungwon, he didn't imagine his night turning out like this, the police making it so much more real for him.
"Me and Yn... found it," Jungwon chimed quietly, calmly. And Jake nodded, gesturing for you and him to walk closer.
Following his orders, the two separated from the other two, and feeling as if the air escaped their lungs. Even if it was windy and there was plenty to be shared.
Keeping his professional stance, Jake clicked his pen and looked at Jungwon.
"I guess you were the one driving?"
Jungwon nodded, eyes flickering as if his thoughts were drawn to some other place in his head. "Yeah..."
"And, where were you going?" Jake inquired, writing down briefly with a brisk scribble.
Now that you thought about it, you felt bad for prompting this whole trip the dessert shop- you only planted yourself in trouble and now, you were stuck with a memory you and him never wanted.
"A dessert shop. We were going to the new one that opened up.." Jungwon uttered, gaze shifting again, arms playing with his long sleeves.
Jake just nodded and he continued with the generic questions of did you see anything suspicious and all of that. But you stayed silent, reality becoming a fuzz to you. You didn't even hear Jungwon calling your name.
"Yn?" Jungwon said sternly, nudging your side and you flinched, eyes snapping back to Jake.
"Oh.. sorry," You murmured, finding yourself inhaling deeply, the anxiety fogging up your lungs.
Jake nodded and just turned to you.
"Same thing, I presume?"
You honestly didn't hear Jungwon speaking.
"I... yeah. The dessert shop... and then we ran over something hard... and the body..." you trailed off, remembering the Janitor's gentle look before you left the campus.
It just didn't seem real. You must be imagining things...
"Yn? Are you okay?" Jake asked, inching closer to you and causing you to nod aimlessly.
"I recognise him..."
Jungwon gave you the same curious look as Jake began to listen closer.
"Really?"
"The Janitor at school. He.. I'm pretty sure it's him..."
"And what school do you guys go to?"
"Youreun University," You replied automatically. It just terrified you that someone you met this morning had completely been robbed off their life.
With your growing apprehension, Jake nodded and wrote down the scribble. "Thank you. Do you need some water or anything? You look a little... dazed."
Jungwon and Jake saw you shake your head, giving a grateful smile, but your eyes were glued back to the body bag surrounded by officers.
And suddenly, your urge to apologise to Jungwon kind of grew.
"You won't arrest us, right?" You said, and Jake had to restrain a smile.
"No, no, of course not. There's not really evidence you guys did anything. Besides, you guys have given me some alibis. We'll just check that and you will probably be free to go." Jake ruffled his hair in the wind, brown locks flying around.
Jungwon deflated at the news and you nodded, wanting to reach home. The sweet desire of dessert was completely dry in your head, and to be fair, you did need some water. And your bed.
"How do you recognise him? Are you related or...?"
"No, I just happened to bump into him t-this morning," You replied, rubbing your own arm, suddenly feeling the chill of the night.
Jake nodded and sighed, asking a few more questions before he relaxed on the statement-taking.
Jungwon's eyes trailed back to the body, being able to see the faint dry blood on the man's neck, and his eyes were forced closed. He shuddered.
After taking a short statement from Yunjin and Jay, they all stood on one side of the road with Jake giving a reassuring smile to everyone.
"So, are you here for good?" Jay asked Jake, arms crossed. Jake nodded.
"Yeah, if I impress my boss," Jake muttered, suddenly having his face morph into somewhat distress at the mention of his superior. Everyone stared.
"You looked like you saw a ghost- is your boss bad or something?" Jay uttered, joking but when Jake stared back with the same startled expression, everyone kind of basked in the silence.
Sheepishly scratching his head, Jake gathered his words.
"It's not that he's bad... he's just a bit... how do I say it-?"
Before Jake could continue, a voice broke him out of his speech and a man approached them, tall with shoulders back, black hair, almost into a mullet with a blue jacket over his attire.
"Jake, I've been looking for you."
He winced and turned back to Jay with a whisper.
"Melodramatic," Jake finished his sentence and everyone heard it, a small smile tugging at the lips.
His boss sauntered over, a mask over his face, which he pulled down to fully examine everyone, obviously a little tedious at the sight. It wasn't everyday that you saw 4 university students and a dead body.
"Did they find the body, officer Sim?"
He was quick to answer, nodding. "Yes, sir. And I took the stat-."
"The statements? Good. You're kind of getting used to this."
Jay had to hold back a smirk as he gave a discrete side-eye to Jake. The officer simply smiled, though it was so little.
"And, do their alibis match? Do you think they're suspects?" His boss asked once more, looking at his phone momentarily. Jake shook his head, keeping up his polite stature.
"No, sir. I think they're all good to go. Of course, if you think so," Jake uttered, hands behind his back. Then, the man finally looked at you and the others, scanning each one before nodding, acknowledging.
"Nice to meet you despite such unfortunate events. I'm DCI Kim Seokjin, I'm leading this investigation," he introduced himself, bringing out these small business cards to hand to you and the others.
Hesitantly taking it, everyone just looked in silence, bowing slightly out of courtesy.
"Well, if officer Jake thinks you are free to go, I'll trust his word. And don't worry, we'll solve this quickly- don't dwell on it."
But that thought, for you and Jungwon, seemed to be much further than you could reach within an arm's length. The shudder that ran through your spine was noticeable and you hugged yourself tightly, the wind brushing your skin.
Seokjin nodded and gave a curt smile, thinking he was done here. "Please go home. I'm pretty sure university students don't want to be out this late after what you guys have seen."
The ride back home was silent to say the least. You couldn't even hear yourself breathe over the engine and the sound of the wheels rolling along. You sighed, rubbing your eyes briefly.
Yunjin couldn't dare to ask and interrupt your silent trance, wanting to ask much more. But she knew better and left you alone.
And Jay ignored how his phone kept vibrating with Heeseung exploding with tweets on twitter. Silently scowling, he turned his phone to silent before looking at Jungwon, who stiffly drove, lips tightly shut.
The apology was right at your lips, but you didn't really say anything, feeling sick. The smell lingered in your nose, forcing your stomach to shift.
"You okay?" Jay asked, breaking the brittle silence.
With a small sigh, you nodded with your head planted somewhere else. "Yeah.."
Jungwon couldn't say anything, eyes flickering around as if he was searching for something. Though, no one questioned it.
So when Jungwon dropped you and Yunjin home, he didn't say anything, eyes focused on his steering wheel. Jay slipped into the front seat, giving a concerned glance to his friend.
"You haven't said a word since we got in the car. You okay?" Jay asked, buckling the seatbelt. Jungwon responded with a sigh, nodding as he glanced around the street cautiously.
"I'm fine. I just need sleep to be honest," Jungwon murmured, which was partially true. After all that his mind was completely dragged through the mud, and he wanted to just get home and forget about it.
Jay understood and nodded, facing the front.
He didn't realise the way Jungwon shuddered when he started the car again, trying to get rid of the goosebumps flaring across his arms and neck.
It wasn't a long drive to Jay's dorm, and Jungwon couldn't even muster a wave before driving off, feeling the roads get lonelier.
He was just pondering, his gaze flickering back and forth. It just didn't seem real that he saw death again. The lifeless eyes.
He breathed shakily, gulping hard as he returned home, the goosebumps engraved in his skin.
He wanted to forget the look, the mere display of death and the paranoia that was starting to become more prominent the more he walked up to his front door and entered his home.
In the proximity of his house, he finally relaxed, absolutely withered and shaken with apprehension. To be fair, he didn't even think about brushing his teeth before he dropped to his bed and finally went on his phone.
He simply ignored the email regarding his film project and tapped onto twitter.

How you even made it to university the next day was a mystery. You and Yunjin sauntered through the halls, and you were tired.
Your eyes had slight bags under them, and you were still cautiously darting your eyes around the school halls. It seemed normal. Like the news hadn't slipped into the crowd.
And you were daydreaming so much, you didn't realise you bumped into Sunoo, who was leaning on the wall, playing a game on his phone and he made a little "oof" sound.
Yunjin tugged you back by the sleeve and glanced to your zoned-out state.
Upon seeing Sunoo, you sheepishly smiled.
"Sorry, Sun," You murmured, stepping back a little. He smiled, pausing his game.
"It's fine. You seem a little stressed. Or.. dizzy. Are you about to pass out??" Sunoo lists frantically, suddenly sending a hand flying to your forehead, checking for any temperature.
You flinched away a little, giving a roll of the eyes. "I'm not going to pass out," You said defensively.
Sunoo took his hand away, pouting. "You certainly look distracted. What's up?"
Yunjin and you exchanged glances, considering whether or not to tell him what atrocities was deeply buried in your memory. Sighing, you gestured for him to come closer until you, Yunjin and Sunoo were huddled in a bizarre circle.
"Don't tell anyone, okay?" You blinked at Sunoo.
Too eager to know, he nodded and his gaze was perplexed but curious.
You never imagined having to say these words in your entire life.
"Well, you know how we went out last night?"
Sunoo hums in response, tilting his head.
"Well, we were on the way to get dessert. We tweeted it, remember?"
"Oh, I wasn't really on twitter last night... I didn't see it," Sunoo said, smiling awkwardly. You shrugged and dismissed it.
"It's fine. But we maye have... um... how do i say it... ran over a dead body and... you know, we had to call a police-."
"I'm sorry, what!?" Sunoo exclaimed, startling both you and Yunjin. She shushed him, a finger on her lips and glaring slightly.
Sunoo covered his mouth, apologetic before he uncovered it.
"A dead body. Are you being for real?" Sunoo whispered in the little huddle. Yunjin nodded, shuddering a little.
"We called the police obviously... and we were let go." You sighed, playing with your hair a little. Though, Sunoo couldn't get the startled look out of his expression. It stayed firmly in his eyes.
"That's crazy. I can't... believe it," Sunoo muttered, stepping back from the huddle with concern. You and Yunjin stayed silent for a moment.
"Just don't tell anyone, Sunoo. I don't think we need people to look and point fingers at us." Yunjin sighed, eyeing the crowd around her as if they were discreetly listening.
Sunoo nodded slowly, taking his time to process the events.
In silence, you, Yunjin and Sunoo walk to class, expecting to meet Jungwon and Jay at the top where their designated seats are. But to your surprise, they weren't.
As you and Yunjin were about to follow Sunoo, the professor steps over.
Sunoo glanced over his shoulder quizzically and you stared back with a concerned shrug as to why you and Yunjin are being held up. The curiosity and apprehension bubbled in both you and Yunjin.
The professor smiles awkwardly.
"Miss Choi, Miss Huh, the principal wants to meet you in the office," He said quietly over the half-filled classroom. Although, you could definitely feel one or ten gazes pricking your sides.
"Did he say why?" Yunjin replied.
"I'm afraid not, but I was told to pass the message on."
And you and Yunjin give a little glance to each other, obviously cautious, but the professor ushers you and her away from the class, from Sunoo, who had already sat at his seat.
With the hallways nearly empty now that you and her were pushed out, she turned to you with a snap of a head.
"Are we going to get suspended or something?" She mumbled, looking with wide eyes. You honestly don't know- heck, your mind was still quite cloudy with everything from last night.
The weight of the situation kind of catches up to you. What if it was about last night?
"I... do you think its about last night?" You said whilst walking with Yunjin.
She sighed, puffing her cheeks momentarily as she was buried deep in her thoughts. "It could be. But... what would he say? I mean, the police said we're free to go.."
You thought it was ludicrous to be asked again about last night. You try not to imagine the bridge you're about to cross to re-enter last night's events.
Arriving at the office, there was already a faint mutter within. Yunjin gave a polite knock and, after a few moments, the door opened for them.
Inside, Jay and Jungwon were already seated on one of the couches, bodies tensed up. Yunjin and you blink a few times before seating yourselves on the opposite side.
Oh, here it goes...
The Principal pushed back his glasses over his elderly eyes and he stands in front of his desk.
"I'm sure you're aware of what happened last night..?"
Everyone hummed in a small response and nod, staring at the principal in silence.
"And I hope you all are okay, right?"
Everyone gave a little murmur of agreement and the principal gave a sympathetic smile. He leaned on his desk, and it looked like he was searching for something to say.
"I'm sure you don't want to remember something so traumatic," The principal started, looking at you. You swallowed down the memory and looked at your fingers.
"And, since the police are investigating it, I'm happy to push this behind us."
Everyone stilled a little bit. You glanced at the principal with a hint of disbelief. You wanted to forget about it.. but you didn't expect the principal himself to throw away the key for you.
And Jungwon gave you a skeptical glance, equally as confused.
"So... you expect us to forget about it? You're telling us not to talk about it?" Jay chimed up with confusion.
The Principal sighed a little, expecting this little arrow of doubt. And he nodded in agreement. "I understand, Jongseong. But, we have a few events and festivals coming up. And I'm sure... you do not want to talk about it.."
Jay stared at the ground, pondering. And everyone considered that not talking about it was the better side of the fence. You didn't want to have that news spread around, but you also hate the paranoia that bit you when you thought about the Janitor's body.
"So, do we agree, dear students? I don't want this to affect your grades if people start bringing it up. Awkward, is it not?" The principal pressed on it even more.
Since no one protested anymore and argued internally, he nodded and smiled at everyone. Though, you know that your friends were all flooded with the same kind of bewilderment you had.
"I know it may be hard to forget. But, the police have told me everything. It's in my greatest confidence that nothing like this will happen again. So, if we are all happy here, you can go now."
When the four were walking to English, no one said anything, the conversation lingering in the air. And it bothered you greatly.
Jay huffed, gripping his backpack a little tighter and scoffed.
"Forget about it? We're just supposed to shut up about it because of the upcoming festival," Jay interjected, clearly astonished.
"Apparantly. What do you expect from Yoreun?" Yunjin uttered, walking along still.
What were you expecting? The police were investigating, they talked to the school and they also tried to reassure you and the others once again. You kept your thoughts spinning and sighed, finding the logic within all this.
"I guess I can't blame them." You said softly, changing your mind from before. Perhaps forgetting was better for you and for the school.
The others looked at you quizzically, eyes stuck on you.
"You can't blame them?" Yunjin chimed, looking forward again, an empty smile on her lips.
"I mean, I don't think I want to talk about it anyway."
Maybe it was because you didn't want the school to email parents, to email your dad that the university his daughter was going to, was being targeted by a killer. Sounded dramatic in your head, but you don't think you could find the energy to actually build a speech to give to your dad to say why you're completely fine where you were.
Jungwon could get what you meant, and he shrugged. "I guess they need their cash. And this festival is their way."
"I guess so- greedy school. How could I forget?" Jay spoke, joking a little bit.
"Still, it feels wrong to just ignore it, you know?" Yunjin said again, the weight of the situation dawning on her. It was a literal murder of someone that went to this school.
Shouldn't there be a few misses days, more police cars around the University campus? But there were no cars shielding the area- it was a normal day.
English literature was as boring as ever. As you typed on your computer and tried to concentrate, you caught a glimpse of Sunoo sneakily on his phone, scrolling through something with blaring headlines.
'Man found brutally murdered'
It caught your eye and you turned your head fully to gently nudge Sunoo. He turned in response and saw your eyes glued to the article.
With a silent exchange, he slid the phone over to you and you immediately read through, putting yourself in the memories of last night again.
It was on the news. Heck, it was trending. You recognised the road and the silent video played, showing a news reporter in front of yellow tapes and roaming officers. You felt like you were there again as you held your breath.
And a picture popped on screen, showing the Janitor's once-alive face, a smile that he once gave you when he opened the door for you.
A shudder crept up your spine as you paused the video and slid the phone back wordlessly.
As much as you wanted to forget, you don't know if you could.

"I'm not going to lie, yn, how are you in school today?" Sunoo chirped up as soon as class ended. His gaze focused on you, but they were concerned.
You shrugged, rubbing your exhausted eyes, not knowing what to rebute his statement with.
"I can't miss class."
"Yeah, but you can't just ignore what happened," He remarked, taking out the white medicine bottle out his bag before packing everything else up.
You packed up as well, and students slowly left their seats in a line. You stared, waiting and noticed Sunoo taking 2 pills this time. And you raised an eyebrow.
"2 pills?" You spoke without thinking, eyeing the white tablets. Sunoo smiled awkwardly and gave a dismissive wave.
"I haven't been sleeping well to be honest," He replied but he was neutral about it as he zipped his bag.
You nodded, letting him do what he needed before turning to the others who were lazily packing up. Your gaze went to Jungwon right next to you as he sighed, eyes focused on his bag and getting his belongings in.
With a quiet voice, you spoke.
"You okay, Jungwon?"
With a quick turn, he glanced at you and sighed, nodding. "Yeah."
He still looked deep in thought despite his clear answer.
The mood was turning heavier, clouding that positivity you were trying to hook on to. So, understandably, you try initiate a joke, you know, to smoothe out this thick gloom hanging over the friend group.
"At least no one knows you're in your hit and miss phase-."
Before you could finish the sentence, his finger collided with your forehead to give a stinging sensation at your temple. You hissed, whining as you recoiled back a little bit.
"Jungwon, what the fvck?" You snapped at him, holding your forehead as if you were hit with a stone. Though, he gave a little shrug, that look of smugness creeping in his unbothered smile.
"Stop making these stupid jokes. They're ass," he spoke, tilting his chin up and ignoring the glare you threw him.
Though, you couldn't argue for long before psychology was in about 5 minutes. So, without getting your desired revenge, you waved by to the others and walked to psychology.
How you managed to balance the two was still unknown. It took a lot of all-nighters, coffee and a dream.
Upon entering psychology, the teacher hadnt arrived, meaning you could actually settle down before the class started drilling information in.
Of course, you sat next to Minji, Heeseung and Chaewon; they sat at the back, conversing in their own little circle, particularly interested in Chaewon's phone.
"Hey, guys," You greeted them with a small smile. Minji ushered you over and so you listened, hunching over the phone to see what they were so deeply invested in.
And your heart sank a little, seeing the familiar face of the Janitor loom on the screen and your heart shook a little. Today was just not going in your favour.
Though, the other 3 were silent- even Heeseung- until the video ended and he sighed, letting out a puff of air. Minji and Chaewon have this blank look in their eyes, but Chaewon grabs your hand, tugging you to sit down.
"Have you heard about it? It's literally all over the news," Chaewon said, eyes doe in shock.
Oh girl, you have no idea, you thought.
"That's so crazy, I swear I have seen him somewhere before," Minji commented, sat back in her seat and she was dazed.
"Well yeah, the news reporter said he worked here as the Janitor." Heeseung ruffled his hair.
Your eyes were downcast for a moment before you chewed on your lower lip.
"Have you heard about it, Yn?" Heeseung chimed, focusing on your docile state.
But, you snapped out of it, ignoring the foggy thoughts in your head. "Yeah... I have heard of it. But let me tell you guys a secret."
They all turned to you, intruiged and you leaned forward, concealing the conversation to this inner circle.
"What secret?" Minji urged on, her eyes brimming with curiosity. And it seemed that Heeseung and Chaewon also leaned in.
You took a deep breath and told yourself, you could trust them.
"I was there. You know the tweets last night about how Jungwon ran over something?" You turned to Heeseung.
With a nod, he urged on, but you felt like he already knew.
"Well, it wasn't just anything. It... was him. The Janitor. We found him last night," You said slowly, hiding the tremor in your voice.
The silence hung in the air, all of them processing it but Chaewon's jaw dropped a little before she let out a forced puff of air.
"You're kidding. Are you being serious?"
"That's why you couldn't get me ice cream.." Heeseung mumbled, distraught. And Minji scowled.
"Will you shut up about the ice cream?"
"Yeah, it's kind of embarrassing considering your tweets last night," Chaewon grumbled, reminding Heeseung of his little series of grateful confessions
"Never. I was anticipating that. I didn't know that would happen," He defensively exclaimed and you gestured to him to keep the sound down.
Right now, the news didn't say who found the bodies, so you would like to keep it that way, locked away from the world.
"Yeah. We were en route to the dessert shop when... we found it. We went home straight after."
"Which is understandable. Oh my gosh, you saw a dead body... of someone who worked here..." Minji added on and she gave a little reassuring pat on the arm.
You smiled softly, hiding how your mind was still buzzing with the images of the grotesque body.
"Yeah... me and Jungwon uncovered it but..." you shuddered a little, failing to hide the shiver sweeping your body. All of them were obviously concerned but Heeseung sighed.
"Me personally, I would never think about going to dessert shops ever again," He said, eyes widening. And the girls glared at him with a slow turn onf their heads, to which he shrunk back in his seat with a guilty smile.
He didn't try to save himself, but you smiled at his comment. Because you think it's true- you would think more than twice before trying to go to a dessert shop and not expect to think of this moment.
Sighing, you patted the girls' arms and you huddled in again.
"Just... don't tell anyone. Please." You looked to them, eyes landing on Heeseung. And he nodded, as he glanced down.
"Don't worry about it."
Chaewon hugged your arm, pouting with her concern rising in her grip. "Don't worry about the death either. I'm pretty sure it's a one-time thing."
Everyone murmured in agreement, attempting to drain the tension surrounding the news. You were somewhat grateful they were trying, and it worked for a few seconds as your muscles relaxed.
"Yeah, it has to be a coincidence... we have that fundraising festival coming up. I don't think the school would want to cancel it." Heeseung reassured your composure.
"Yeah... a coincidence." You heard yourself mutter, once again sensing your own uneasiness.

“Y/N!! Hurry up! We’re gonna get stuck in traffic if we don’t head out now!” Jungwon yelled from the living room. “Tsk. Don’t rush her.” Sunoo said, giving Jungwon a soft push. “Even if we get stuck in traffic, it won’t last forever.” He continued. “Yea, I know but — “ "But nothing.” Niki exclaimed, cutting Jungwon off mid-sentence. “Everything is gonna be fine. Chill dude.”
You were doing a mental checklist of everything that you needed. “Toothbrush, swimsuit, sandals…oh, and pajamas.” You mumbled as you triple checked your suitcase. You could hear the three of them going back and forth in the living. You quickly zipped up your suitcase before rolling it out of the room. Jay was going to drive you guys to the resort, but Jungwon insisted on getting there himself. The only problem is that Jungwon just got his license a week ago and had never driven this far.
“Are you sure you got this?” Niki asked Jungwon as they packed the trunk. “Of course! Don’t you trust me?” “I do. It’s just…Jay has taken us on so many trips before. And you just got your driver’s license. Maybe you can drive next time?” “Niki…relax. I got this okay. No worries. Everything is gonna be just fine.” Jungwon reassured him before slamming the trunk shut. “Alright everyone! Let’s gooo!” Jungwon exclaimed as you all climbed into the truck. The truck was an 8-eight seater, but Niki folded the back row of seats down for more luggage space.
You sat in the front seat next to Jungwon, and Niki sat in the back with Sunoo. It was about 10 o’clock in the morning when you finally pulled off. You had a 6 hour drive ahead of you, and leaving this late could cost you a whole day. This was going to be a long ride, but hopefully everything goes well.
Niki had taken full control of the radio and was choosing all the music. Sunoo was busy either gazing out of the window, snapping scenic shots or taking an unhealthy amount of selfies. And Jungwon was sternly focused on the road, almost entirely zoned out. It had been about 45 minutes when Sunoo reached over to tap Jungwon on the shoulder. “Argh…What?” Jungwon snapped. “I need to use the bathroom…” Sunoo replied. “Seriously? Right now? I’m trying to get to the resort today. Can you hold it?” Jungwon pleaded. “I already did~” Sunoo whined. “Ugh. Fine.” Jungwon sighed. “But no more stops after this.”
Minutes later Jungwon pulled up to a run down looking gas station. It honestly looked completely abandoned. Some windows had wooden boards covering them. The sign was barely hanging above to the front of the building. Dust and cobwebs covered the gas pumps. Similar to something you would see in an apocalyptic world in a zombie movie. It looked like the slightest wind could blow the whole place down. “Oh, no way. No way am I using a bathroom here!” Sunoo complained. “This is the closest place, and you’re the one who said you couldn’t hold it any longer.” Jungwon replied. “But…it looks super creepy~” Sunoo whined as he threw his head back. “Well, I’m not stopping anywhere else. So either go or don’t. Your choice.” Jungwon was obviously fed up with Sunoo’s constant whining. So, Sunoo got out of the truck and walked towards the entrance.
30 minutes had passed and Sunoo still wasn’t back yet. Jungwon was pissed and you could tell. “He still hasn’t answered?” Jungwon said, deeply exhaling. “I’ve already tried 5 times.” Niki replied. “Ugh…let me try,” Jungwon said, pulling his phone out. “Huh?…there’s no signal out here…Niki can you go in and find him?” “Yea sure.” Niki said, unbuckling his seatbelt. “Y/N, can you just stay right here? I need to walk for a minute.” Jungwon asked, ruffling his hair. “Of course.” You replied. He then walked away from the vehicle.
Niki walked into the creepy gas station. There was nobody there aside from an old man tucked in a corner. He was frail and possessed a soulless stare. His eyes followed Niki’s every move. “Excuse me, sir. Have you seen my friend? He has red hair, and he’s wearing a light blue shirt.” The man continued to stare at Niki. Not even saying a single word. A loud scream came from the direction of the bathrooms, which made Niki’s head turn. “Sunoo?!” Niki shouted. The screaming persisted, and Niki ran to find the source of the scream. He quickly made his way down a dimly lit hall before reaching the stall. “Sunoo?!” He shouted again. “NIKI HELP!” The stall was locked. Niki pushed and pulled on the door, but had no luck getting it open. “Sunoo! Open the door!” “I can’t. It’s locked! I tried calling, but my phone doesn’t work!” “Niki looked around for something to help him break the door down. However, he was unsuccessful in finding a suitable weapon. “AHHH! Niki, snakes just dropped from the ceiling!” “What?!! DAMMIT!” Niki kicked his the door with all of his force.
Jungwon was obviously unaware of all the chaos happening in the bathrooms. But he just needed a moment to clear his mind. He really wanted everything to go well. This was just very stressful for him. The need for perfection, but also pride. Jungwon wanted to prove that he could do it himself. Jungwon was deep in his thoughts and had once again completely zoned out. As he was walking through the tall grass, a putrid scent caught his attention. He was then aware of his surroundings and the sound of flies buzzing was too loud to ignore. He walked closer to the strong scent, covering his mouth with his sleeve. He peered through the grass and saw a person, dead and covered in snake bites. Parts of his flesh had been torn off and his eyes were poked out.
Jungwon didn’t know there were snakes out here. Remembering that he left you in the truck alone, he turned around and ran back to check on you.
As he was nearing the vehicle, he spotted Niki and Sunoo running out of the gas station. “Get in the truck!” Jungwon shouted. Luckily, Jungwon left the truck running, and you all sped off, leaving that nightmare behind.
The ride was uncomfortably quiet after that. “Is everyone okay?” Jungwon asked, breaking the silence. “Yea, we’re good.” Niki replied. Sunoo still was looking a bit shaken up, and you were just confused. The fear you felt was because you did not know what had happened back there. “What exactly happened?” You asked the group of boys. “Sunoo got locked in a bathroom. Then snakes fell from the holes in the ceiling and I had to break the door down...” Niki said. “I found a dead body covered in snake bites…” Jungwon added. The truck fell silent again. “This is not what I planned to do.” Jungwon continued. “How much longer to the resort?” Sunoo asked. “Umm…about an hour.” Jungwon replied. “Well then, let’s just forget about what happened at that gas station and try to enjoy the rest of our trip.” Sunoo said. His voice was much lighter than before. “You’re right, Sunoo. Let’s go out there and do what we came out here to do.” Niki chimed in.
The boys were either putting on a good front or they had really gotten over it quickly because the rest of the ride was filled with laughter and music. Even Jungwon had loosened up.
It wasn’t long before you all arrived at the resort. After unpacking the trunk, you all changed into your swimsuits and headed to the pool. “Hey guys! Glad you finally made it!” a voice shouted from behind. You all turned your heads to see Jay accompanied by Jake and Sunghoon. You were so glad to see them. “What are you guys doing here?” Niki asked. “We’ll we knew you guys were coming, and we wanted to surprise you.” Jake replied. “Are you surprised?” Sunghoon giggled, looking at Sunoo’s expression. You all hung out for the rest of the week before heading back home. Fortunately, the boys had found a way to laugh about the gas station incident, which helped them not to be so afraid of the memory.
This definitely was not what you had planned, but you enjoyed your time with them. A break was just what you needed.

PART 3
_______________________________________________________
Author's note: Yes I did tell this was a oneshot but keep dividing it into numerous parts. Yes I am alive. Yes i do hope you enjoy the scraps i was able to write. Yes this is not proof read. I love you all please leave any comments, reblogs, asks ANYTHING cuz it's fuel to my writing.
_______________________________________________________
"Was the boy handsome?"Sulli, my only friend, asks me.
My hands pause at the building block I was going to put on top of the tower we both created. For an 8 year old, I really shouldn't have expected anything else.
"I don't know..I only saw a glimpse of his face." I finally decided to tell her.
She mumbles, disappointed and yet again engrossed in her puzzle. Sulli and my friendship might be weird to most but I like it. I ramble on and she keeps me around for someone to play "Knights and dragons" with her. I don't really mind, it keeps me from trying to run away from here.
"What do you think I should do Sulli? I know it's just a dream but this has never happened before." I mumble again not expecting an answer.
Sulli stops and looks at me with big eyes, in a way where I feel extremely inferior. She seems to have that effect on me a lot. "I think you should visit him again. Ask why he's here.
_______________________________________________________
"Sleeping early today?" Kyungsoo asks, surprised at me already bundled up as much as I can on my bed.
"Yep. Please place a glass of water on the table before you go." He placed the glass and left me promptly alone.
I did intend to sleep early, but the AC is too cold. The blankets are too itchy and despite the water I drank already twenty minutes ago my mouth seems to be as dry as ever. My neck aches and I want to cry from the overstimulation.
My eyes rest on the ceiling tiredly. The walls seem to be talking to me today, Each side whispering and mumbling the nastiest things under their breath. My eyes blink out fresh tears and I weep mournfully, "Leave me alone. Please just leave." I beg.
But the voices don't seem to stop. Each one is growing closer and closer but I don't know what they are saying. I never do. I just know that each whisper , each word so close and breathing down my neck prickles my skin like tiny needles. They pierce my skin and my heart so deeply I want to desperately rip the sheets off me and find the bed stained with my blood.
But although I know that the shivers that rack my body are violent, and that the walls and the souls want me dead. My heartbeat slows down because this is the sign that I'm going to fall asleep.
______________________________________________________
The wind up here is strong. It whips and lashes at my face But it doesn't deter me one bit. My eyes are just focused on the horizon. I've been standing here for the past ten minutes. I'm barefoot but the floor beneath me is smooth.
I'm aware from the corner of my eye that there is someone approaching me. They have been doing so since the time I arrived here. I don't know who it is, but I hope it's Jay again.
My figure turns around. The world around me is barren, in the world I've created for myself there is no sky. There are no clouds or sun. In Fact the only thing supporting me right now is a bridge. It's narrow and I can fall over any moment if I'm not too careful but I don't mind.
The person approaching me comes closer and my eyes rake over its blurry figure. My throat tightens as I take in the tattered clothes caked with snow. It's not cold here but the figure is shivering.
My brother approaches me carefully, calculatedly. His one eye is glaring at me and the other is swollen to the point he can't open it anyway. My throat opens to let out a cry but it stops there as a silent scream.
He's near me now. I don't need to see the rest of him to know how he looks. The image is forever ingrained into my mind anyway. I can picture his dark, almost black blood carelessly staining his clothes. I can see his left arm stuck on the handle of the car and his body littered with cuts too deep for it to be repaired. The only major difference is that he seems to be awake now.
"You did this to me, you know that?" He tells me, his voice barely a whisper but I know what he's saying and I nod.
His face contorts into something ugly. His eyes hold so much rage, such intense loath that it doesn't occur to me this time that I'll wake up. I know I deserve it. I knew I'd see it in his face sooner or later.
He grabs hold of my wrist, and despite the snow covering his body, his grip is burning hot. Smoke seems to leave his hands and I can feel my skin melt. "You're hurting me." I croak.
"Good." Is all he says before flinging me over the corner of the bridge.
______________________________________________________
Falling isn't what I imagined I thought would be like. I thought the wind would whistle near my ears. I thought I'll feel nauseated or even faint. But nothing of that sort happened. Even the sky has no mercy, letting me watch my brother's satisfied face as I plummet into the ground.
But the hit never comes. Instead I was shocked, not enough to wake up but enough to give a loud gasp as icy water surrounded me. Salt water fills up my mouth and I want so desperately to go up but I can't see the surface anymore.
I know I just barely fell but all that surrounds me is the ocean. The back of my brain begs me to look for a way out. To spot the bubbles that *should* be there. To follow it. I've taken swim classes before. I know exactly what to do, but this time my arms flail helplessly. I pray and pray that I go deep down and finally give up so that my death could be labelled as an accident rather than a cowardly action to run away from my mistakes. From my sins.
A final breath escapes my mouth and my arms and legs relax letting the tremendous force of the water push me down and deep. I go willingly.
_______________________________________________________
My eyes are blurry and tired and I can't figure out if it's the weight of the water that clings onto my lashes or my tears, either way I force them open to be met with Jay's face. This time I can see his face clearly, there are water droplets dripping onto his shirt and his hair is unruly.
When he sees that I'm awake he lets out a huge sigh of relief and lets go of my shoulders flopping down on the sand.
I get up disoriented and look around. I can see the ocean and I can feel the sand that's beneath me, the grains of sand stick to my face and hands as I let out coughs.
"You saved me." I say as a matter- of - fact, "Why?"
"I was waiting for you, you know?" He says instead, completely ignoring my question.
"It's lonely here and you're the only one who visits me. If I don't save you, who will?"
It's against all logic for Jay to exist. If I told them about this they would tell me it's a figment of imagination my own mind created to cope. Perhaps that's the truth but right now Jay might be the only one who even wants me alive, and that's enough for me to hope I don't wake up for just a little longer.
A few seconds pass and I spend them observing Jay determined to remember the most of him when I wake up.
"I'll save you again you know?" Jay says, looking at me. "I'll save you with everything I have in me, so please visit again. With you I think I have a purpose After All. "
I don't say anything, startled by his sudden confession. He looks right through me and holds out his pinky finger.
"Promise?"
I interlock my finger with his and repeat, "Promise."

͟͟͞͞➳ HEESEUNG
He wasn't that possessive of you when you're with his members because he trusts them . He wanted you to have a good sisterly relationship with them . His schedule was over and he had 3 days off work so he called you to his dorm . You knocked on the door to let Heeseung know it's you and everyone's head turned towards you . You peeked your head from the door and "Surprisee~" you said and Heeseung couldn't help but giggle at your cute behaviour . Sunoo gasped but then squealed and ran to you hugging you "y/niee , how are you" he asked in a baby voice " wahh you look so skinny , let's get you some food to eat " sunoo started dragging you and you waved a 'hello' at everyone , not getting time to greet everyone properly but you definitely will after sunoo is done with his session of babying you . Heeseung was happy that you were getting along with them so good . He had the idea that sunoo missed his sister and he saw you as his younger sister so he wouldn't snatch you . But if he someday crosses his line then there would be consequences .
͟͟͞͞➳ JAY
You were younger than him , which made him extra catious with you . He saw how his members were careful with you too . But Heeseung was the most responsible one and he often babied you . When you would come in the kitchen he would give you work that didn't have usage of knife and when you would get hurt he would scold you but then give you your favourite chocolate making you giggle and hug him . It made jay quite jelous but he reassured himself that Heeseung was just being an older brother to you and he will take good care if you if he was ever out somewhere . You were safe and not leaving him . He left you and Heeseung alone in kitchen oneday and was spying from behind a wall . He heard Heeseung say " yah , did it go as planned ?" What ? What plan ? Are you both seeing each other behind his back ? He- "I haven't asked him yet . I'm nervous" you said and he could hear Heeseung laughing and saw him cupping your cheeks " y/n-ah he's your boyfriend , there's no need to be nervous on asking your boyfriend on a date . Just don't tell him I've prepared the place . I'll tease him about it the next day " you laughed and hugged him " thanks for all this Heeseung , I'll ask him today " jay was relieved and really happy . He made a mental note to thank Heeseung for this .

HOW TO GET AWAY WITH ⠀⠀MURDER (amongst other things)
masterlist playlist next
Tumblr media
— CH 1. The Night we Met
WARNINGS 🩸 mentions or murder and blood
Tumblr media
Truth be told, you'd never murdered someone before.
It wasn't exactly a common hobby for people.
You always thought it wouldn't be that bad to see a dead body, you never knew what the fuss was about. You've watched plenty of horror movies, binged many crime documentaries. Surely they just look like they're sleeping? That's what it seemed on the TV anyway.
But standing here now, looking down at the dead body on your bedroom floor, you were starting to realise the overreactions.
There was blood everywhere. Pooling on your carpet, trailing down the bedpost, staining your new beige sheets. All over your fucking shirt.
The boy was laying completely still on the floor, and you didn't need to check his pulse to know he was dead. You'd heard the crack when he went head first into the bedpost. Fuck, the whole street could've heard it for all you knew.
Your heart was beating in your ears, breath completely sucked out of your body and all you could do was stare as blood slowly expanded around his head, painting his blonde hair red. If anyone were to walk in now, they probably would've thought you'd had a heart attack standing up. You couldn't move, even when blood dripped from your forehead to your cheek.
There was a dead body in your room.
You had to get out. You had to hide, run, fuck maybe you should just confess. People who plead guilty get lower sentences don't they? Your head hurt, you felt sick. But you turned to the boy standing next to you with a calm face. "What the fuck do we do?"
Wide eyed, the boy looked back at you with the most fear you'd ever seen be portrayed in a person. He was speechless, trying to get some sorts of words out however nothing but a stuttering load of bullshit came out and you realised just how fucked you actually were.
You'd known Riki for a week at most and you'd just committed murder in your bedroom with him for the first time. No. He had committed murder. You were a witness. That did nothing to stop said murder from happening.
Riki was good at a lot of things. He could play guitar, he could hotwire a car, and he could dance. What he couldn't do was make rational decisions when it was much needed. He never thought his inability to decide would lead to him standing over a bleeding out body with the bloody murder weapon in his right hand. He hadn't exactly made a sound when he'd gone out cold in the middle of the room, but the fact that he had yet to open his eyes and get up made Riki think he was in fact, standing over a dead body. That he'd just killed. With his own hands.
You were both frozen still. The record player looping The Ronettes' 'Be My Baby' seemed a lot more sinister the more you came to your senses and you rushed over to turn it off before you fell into a loop of madness yourself. Breathing out heavily, you made your way back over to Riki, glancing down at your blood soaked shirt and then at Riki. You frowned. There wasn't any blood on him at all, despite on his hands and partly on his face. He felt your stare and turned to you, the same scared expression on his face that he'd been pulling for the last five minutes.
He did, finally open his mouth to speak though, "Have you ever killed–"
"No."
"Okay."
You were so fucked.
"They're gonna know it was me." You said, chewing on your bottom lip. Riki looked at you full of confusion, bloody lamp still in his right hand, "It literally wasn't you-"
"It's in my house. In my bedroom. My ex boyfriend!" You were panicking, clearly, so Riki kept any snarky remarks to himself. You didn't know each other all that well, but you understood each other more than you would think. So Riki put the lamp down on the desk he'd taken it from and turned to you, "We need to get out of here."
🩸
Four days ago.
You're a very hateful person.
The world is a horrible place and you have horrible people in your life, what can you say?
Thinking about it, you can't remember the last time you actually felt anything but numb. Maybe when you got your first dog. That was nice. But you were nine at the time. You're seventeen now. Shit. Maybe it was your irrational thinking that made you so angry and hateful. Or maybe it was just the fact you've had a very shitty life so far.
Your friends were only one part of your very shitty life. Staring at the girl across the cafeteria table, you watched as she giggled at the messages rolling through her notifications. She seemed to read one that caught her eye as she switched her phone off and turned to the other girls sitting around the table, "What are you guys wearing tonight?"
You frowned, "Tonight? What's happening tonight?"
The question seemed to bring everyone to a halt, four pairs of eyes glancing everywhere but you. Eyebrows furrowing, you blinked at Chaein from across the table.
"Um…" She bit her lip gently, eyes scanning over the other girls in some sort of plea. When nobody dared to look at her, she sighed, "Um well. We're having a party. It was just the five of us but I guess-"
"What the fuck?" You loudly announced, shutting Chaein up instantly. She pursed her lips, head bowing and you sighed. Grabbing your backpack from in between your legs, you stood up and swung it over your shoulder before grabbing your lunch tray and sliding it hard across the table. It hit Chaein's tray hard, her food going all over her lap and her scream caught the attention of pretty much everyone. "Fuck you." You flipped the table off before turning on your heel and walking.
Maybe that was a bit of an overreaction. But those girls were never your friends to begin with, so they kind of deserved it.
In reality, you had nowhere to go. You could've gone to the bathroom, or to class early, or you could've just left. But the boy staring at you as you walked towards him seemed like the most interesting way to spend the rest of your lunch.
"Can I sit here?"
The boy looked up as if he hadn't watched you literally walk all the way towards him. A flash of confusion brushed across the entirety of his face. "Um," he looked to his right where you had motioned to sit, "Okay."
You didn't wait for him to move his bag and food off of the wall before you sat down next to him, kicking your feet as you glared straight ahead at the table of girls you'd just dropped. What the fuck am I doing?
"What was all that about?" The boy asked, snapping you out of your heated glaring competition with the back of Chaein's head. You actually looked at the boy now. His hair was dark, it could've been black but it looked brown when the light hit it. It was parted down the middle, framing just around his eyes and it was on the longer side. It looked soft and bouncy and you'd never seen a boy with such nice hair in your school before (the place wasn't exactly heaven). He turned to you when you didn't answer him and you took note that his eyes looked softer close up. They were also brown. He was pretty, you decided. Very pretty.
"It was nothing." You replied, and he pouted a little and you assumed it was his way of letting the conversation go, because he didn't push on the subject any further.
Silence cast over the both of you and you suddenly felt a wave crash over you. The thing about you was that you couldn't sit in silence. Silence made you think and you hated thinking.
So you started talking.
"Are you going to eat that?"
Jesus Christ of course he's going to eat it, it's in his fucking lap.
The boy looked down at the half eaten sandwich and bag of crisps in his lap, and then looked at you. He then sighed, holding up the other half of his sandwich without saying a word.
You blinked at it, not actually expecting him to oblige in your offer, but nonetheless you took it out of his awaiting hands, "Thanks."
He smiled a little, probably out of politeness, but it was nice of him either way.
"I'm Y/N, by the way."
He knew that.
"Riki."
You knew that, too.
Riki was new. You didn't know much about him other than that. He seemed quiet. And lonely. And he didn't speak like... at all. You didn't like quiet people, but for some reason you didn't mind talking to him. He was an interesting kind of quiet. Like the type of quiet that had a lot to hide. And you wanted to find out what it was.
You were practically the opposite of him. You were loud. You didn't stop talking. But you were kind of lonely, you'd cut him some slack with that one. It's not like you chose to have no close friends, you just hadn't found someone who could understand you. Plus you'd just walked out on your only friends not even ten minutes ago.
"Do you want to go out with me?"
Riki knitted his brows at you, "What?"
You shrugged, kicking your legs out in front of you and taking a bite of the sandwich in your hand, "I dunno. Like, do you wanna do something after school?"
"Oh. Okay."
A small smile tugged at your lips at how Riki seemed to go along so perfectly with your irrational decisions. Then again, he could just be being nice. "What do you like doing?" You asked.
"Um. I can play the guitar, I guess."
"No way!" You turned shiny eyed to him, "Show me."
The boy looked equally as bright eyed at your enthusiasm when he faced you but he quickly looked down, "I mean, uh. It's at my house."
"Let's go to your house then. After school."
Riki seemed to think for a second, slightly hesitant and you thought you'd already crossed a million of his boundaries. But he replied with, "Okay." and you let out a small sigh of relief.
Sitting on the school cafeteria wall with the boy you'd had one conversation with, you decided at that moment that you weren't going to let him go. No matter what may happen.
And oh, did a lot happen.
🩸
Riki didn't have a very eventful life. It had been a month or so since he'd moved from Japan and settling in hadn't taken much time. Mainly because he kept his head down and didn't talk to anyone. He wasn't much of a talker, he didn't have much to say. The most interesting thing about him was probably that he lived with his grandma because he was abandoned at a young age. But that's not a very good starting topic of conversation. So Riki just doesn't talk.
It's not that Riki hated his life or anything. Yeah, he'd rather his parents have not up and left him but there's nothing he can do about it now. That was twelve years ago anyway, he's not the type to hold grudges for that long. He was more upset that he had to spend almost seventeen years of his life with the bitch that calls herself his grandmother.
He wasn't going to get into it though, he was just going to hope she wasn't there when you got to his house.
"Why does your house have no fucking windows?" You stared at the house in front of you, the bottom windows basically all bordered up, and the top left's curtains tightly closed.
"My grandma is an anxious person." Riki muttered, fiddling around with his keys to find the right one for the front door. You looked back up at the top floor windows and assumed the room to the right was Riki's because the curtains and windows were wide open.
You wandered into Riki's house as soon as he opened the door, not taking your shoes off because you figured Riki would've told you if it was a problem. His house was cute (if that's even a word you can use to describe a home), a bit outdated and old, but cute nonetheless. It wasn't too big inside so it was warm and cosy which felt weird considering your house was nothing like that. You tilted your head at the vanity desk by the door, picking up one of the framed photos. You assumed it was Riki and his grandma in the photo and you found yourself giggling at it, "You look funny in this-"
"Do you not take your shoes off when you visit people's houses?" Quickly, you put the photo back on the desk like you'd just been caught stealing it. The old woman that had appeared in the doorway to the kitchen showed no emotion on her face when she glowered at you.
Riki sighed. Fuck.
"Sorry." You mumbled, slightly rolling your eyes and glancing at Riki who looked kind of angry for someone who hadn't been anything but calm since you met him.
"I forgot to tell her. It's my fault." Creasing your brow, you looked up at the boy from where you were unfastening your boots, wondering why he was sticking up for you for something so.. unnecessary. The woman did seem kind of intimidating though, so you were grateful.
Once you'd taken your boots off, placing them next to Riki's shoes on the mat, you stood up next to him so you were both facing the woman still taking up the space between the hallway and kitchen. She still had the same stoic expression on her face and she didn't seem to take her eyes off of you. It was almost like she was scanning you to see if you were fit to be here. It was weird.
"Uh, well. I'm Y/N!" Breaking the silence, you smiled (for politeness, of course. If you could smile genuinely at anyone less, it would be this woman), hooking your arm around Riki's and nudging him as a silent plea to get you away from his grandmother's evil stare.
"Yeah," Riki seemed to get the hint, "We're going to my room."
And without waiting for a response, Riki pulled you up the stairs.
"Do you have, like, beef with your grandma or something?" You asked as soon as the door closed behind you, not looking at Riki when you spoke, eyeing up his room.
The boy wasn't paying much attention, trying to find somewhere to throw his backpack, "Huh? No, why?"
You threw him a look that was supposed to say 'I just watched you have a glaring contest with her from across the room' but you guess he didn't notice. "Doesn't matter."
You took your time looking around his room. It wasn't small or big, it was just kind of a normal size. His bed was right next to the window (probably because his grandma was a fucking weirdo and made him hibernate whenever he wanted to eat lunch downstairs) and he had a cabinet next to it with a desk opposite which was scattered with all sorts of things that you didn't really give a shit about. It was a bit messy but he wasn't expecting guests so you didn't comment on it. You also noted that his carpet was blue, as well as his curtains and bedsheets. "Is your favourite colour blue?"
Riki took one look around the room and let out an embarrassed laugh, "I think so." He leant against his desk as you continued to inspect his room like some house estate agent. It was the first time in hours that you weren't filling in the silence for the both of you. He didn't mind that you liked to keep the conversation going; he appreciated it actually, because he was better at listening than talking. You were a fiery person, Riki noticed, not that it was necessarily a bad thing but it was definitely new to him. You were confident, and he liked that because it meant at least one of you were. Because you weren't glaring like you had been most of the day, Riki noted your eyes almost the exact same colour as his. You'd had your hair tied up at school but as soon as you'd both left the gates, you'd pulled it down and Riki was now just noticing it fell just below your shoulders, and there were slight streaks of blonde blended into the brown that he hadn't seen before. It suited you, it suited your vibe. It was pretty. What the fuck was he talking about?
"You can take your bag off, by the way." Riki said, trying to distract himself and grabbing your attention. You looked at him slightly startled, but obliged anyway, letting your backpack fall off your shoulders and you put it by the side of his cabinets.
"Where's your guitar?" You wondered, peering around the room to see if you could find it amongst the rest of Riki's shit.
The boy perked up at the mention of his guitar, instantly pushing himself off his desk and rushing to his wardrobe. You sat down on his bed as he scrambled through his closet before pulling out a dark brown guitar that he seemed to light up at once he pulled it to his chest. Cute.
"Do you take requests or..?" You leaned back and moved up to make space for Riki to sit down next to you.
"I don't know a lot," He looked sheepish, looking down as he tuned his guitar, "But you might know this one!"
You did know it.
It was one of your favourite songs, actually, and from the first note he played, you were entranced. You could almost hear the lyrics through the strings he was playing. He didn't seem nervous, however he was a bit unsure of what notes to play, but it was still beautiful.
Riki was beautiful. And extremely talented. It's been a day Y/N, get over yourself. So maybe your irrational decision to sit with him was one of the best ones you'd ever made.
You couldn't help but focus on his face as he concentrated. He was looking down at the guitar as he played and his lips pouted a little when he messed up. They were… pretty. He puffed them out when he focused on the strings of the guitar and they looked so full and soft and cute when he pouted. Fuck. You felt your heart jump when he smiled down at the guitar a little when he got into the rhythm and suddenly you were back in your own body again. You looked away wide eyed when you realised where you were and what you were doing, the sound of Riki's guitar suddenly sounding haunting. He continued to play 'Where is my Mind?', lost in his own little world and you sat next to him in thought.
Because maybe Riki was the escape you needed out of your very shitty life.

Genre: cop jungwon! × freader(oc)!
Type: thriller, slight angst
Warnings: gore, serial killing, profanity, mentions of blood, let me know if there's something else.
Word count: 3.0K
Synopsis: Jungwon has always been a goody-two-shoes cop boyfriend, but fought with a serial killer that's been wanted for years, then ended up heavily injured. Once he wakes up from brain surgery, his whole life goes upside down, or rather  Sungsoo's life does.
"Who are you?"
"An angel."
"What's your name?"
"Satan..."
"It has been confirmed that the wanted serial killer from all of the deaths that occurred for the past two years has been captured. These killings shook up the whole nation as the victims were found mercilessly tortured and...."
The sound of the news on the TV faded as Sungsoo focused all of her might on hoping that her dear boyfriend would wake up soon. The whole country is also praying for his recovery, since he bravely fought and captured the serial killer that the police has been searching for years, just like the news stated.
"Jungwon-ah... please, wake up..." She said, with tears on her eyes as she grasps his hand on hers. He had a bandage around his head, an injury caused by the serial killer on the moment, having doctors to take him through several surgeries to prevent his death.
Even though she was highly proud of his courage and will to go against a dangerous person, she still felt resentful towards the fact that he could've almost died. She always thought the cop job wasn't his best fit, but she also knew how he truly cared for the civilians and did everything he could to protect them. She sighed, thinking how he was too nice and pure for his own good. There was little to no hope for him to survive after the attack, since his brain got heavily damaged by the amount of hits the criminal took out on him with a hammer.
Suddenly, she received a call from her mother, making her let go of his cold hand and answering the call.
"Hello? No, he's still unconscious... I know... Wait, you're here? Mom, I told you it's okay— I can do this. Huh? In the lobby? But— alright... I'll be there." Sungsoo hung up and looks down at Jungwon on the bed with a sad expression.
"I'll be right back, okay?" She says, expecting no response from him but hoping he at least is listening. She puts her phone inside her pant's pocket and rushes out the hospital room.
Minutes after she left, there was no sound but the ruffling of the blanket as the boy who was laying down on the rough bed slowly rises up, his hand now holding his head in pain, while his eyes slowly opened and looked around. He groans after the movement due to his recent surgery on his head, and then realizes there is definitely, another noise corrupting the space.
A bird on the room's window was chirping, taking a rest from its long distance flight, ready to go back to its nest. Jungwon then stood up, carefully walking towards the bird, with an unknown expression on his face. He approached the bird with his hand, waiting for the little animal to hop on his finger. After the bird took trust and swiftly grabbed onto the boy's finger, Jungwon lifted his other hand and hovered it over the little bird, soon after wrapping it tightly around the animal and crushing it between his palms. Without remorse, he turns around and drops the bird out the window.
"Ah... that's better. Silence."
"Now, from the left eye, how many fingers do you see?"
"Two" Replied Jungwon, still not having hold of what is going on and why he is sitting on an hospital bed. Specifically, sitting in front of strangers.
The doctor nodded and lowered his hand proceeding to write on a board he's holding, probably the patient's record.
"Jungwon... do you really not... remember us?" Sungsoo nervously asked, hoping he would somehow change the answer he gave the doctor a minute ago. However, Jungwon looked over her with an unknown gaze, not taking long as he looks forward, his empty cat-like eyes staring onto the wall.
"No. I don't know who you are." He replied, not looking at anyone. Sungsoo lowered her head and slowly nodded, trying to accept the fact that he, indeed doesn't remember them at all.
"Don't worry, it must be from the shock of the surgery that his memories have been blocked. However, they will most possibly come back slowly, so don't worry." The doctor reassured the family. "We will need to run some tests before releasing him from the hospital, now excuse me." He smiled and left the room together with his two assistants that were silently taking notes of the situation, the room now remaining quiet.
Sungsoo stood right where she was at the whole time, her hopeful thoughts having a debate inside her head. He will be alright, right? He will slowly remember... then everything will be like before, right?. She slowly looks up and steps towards him, making him look up at her with a questionable expression. She then takes his hand on hers, it being removed not long after by him, still unsure if he should trust those people that claim to be very close with him. This made Sungsoo feel a sting on her heart, not used to see her usually sweet and caring boyfriend rejecting her touch like this.
Taking ahold of the situation, her mother decides to speak up, "Jungwon-ah... don't be scared, it's just me and Sungsoo, alright? My daughter and you have been dating for a while, she cares a lot about you. Once you're released, you'll be coming back with us, okay?" She tried to reassure him, even though they receive no reaction from him. Instead, he was analyzing her every movement. She looks old. He thought.
Suddenly, he shows a smile that Sungsoo has been missing ever since before the surgery. Her little heart sting disappearing and Relief taking over her.
"I'm sorry I can't remember anything..." He stops for a second, taking ahold of Sungsoo's hand. "But I'll try my best to remember, alright? I'm glad I got a good family at my side..." He lowered his head, his hold of his girlfriends hand getting tighter, taking her by surprise, but then proceeding to hug him, tears leaving her eyes once again.
"I am just glad you're alive, after all. I love you, wonnie..."
She received no reply from him, only the acceptance of the hug as he stared down at the hand he was holding.
Did he really have such an affectionate soul- mate? Did he really deserve her?
"Oh, really? I must have been a good person, then." Jungwon shyly smiled, slightly embarrassed as Sungsoo and her mother told him the stories from his life before surgery.
"Aww, are you blushing right now?" Teased Sungsoo, receiving a neglect from Jungwon real quick, making her laugh and pinch his cheek.
"Yah, Park Sungsoo! Be more gentle with him, he just got a surgery. Don't play around too much like that, huh?" Scolded her mother, earning a pout from her and a 'alright sorry'. This made Jungwon's blood boil for a reason. He felt like he didn't like that at all. Even if he didn't remember everything about her, why couldn't his girlfriend act playful with him? He didn't mind it at all. It didn't even bother him or his head if she did. Why is her mother suddenly interrupting their moment? Who gave her the right? However, he smiled at her mother and reassured her about it.
"It's okay, she wouldn't hurt me at all. You're worrying too much ma'am." He chuckled afterwards and placed some more food on her plate, since they were sharing dinner. This made Sungsoo smile and feel warmth inside her. He hasn't changed at all, my sweet boyfriend... She thought.
After a while, they all finished eating and Jungwon offered to clean up the table, quickly earning a denial from Sungsoo's mother.
"No No, you go rest okay? I'll do everything don't worry." She reassured and started to pick plates up. Sungsoo stood up and started to help her mother, even though she also received a scolding to go and get some rest. She eventually gave up and went towards Jungwon, taking his hand.
"I will make sure our memories come back. I will help you, okay? I know it's not your fault this happened but... it makes me sad you don't remember..." she said, lowering her head. Jungwon sighed and tried to reassure her that everything's going to be alright, and that he trusts that she will help him.
Afterwards, they both went to rest, Sungsoo making sure she gets comfortable as she hugs Jungwon in her sleep. Suddenly, the lightbulb of the room gets turned on, earning an annoyed groan from Jungwon, also waking Sungsoo up.
"Oh, you two were here? I thought you'd be at the guest's room! Tsk tsk. Anyways I just forgot to take this laundry, just go back to sleep and don't mind me, yeah?" She entered and bent over to pick up the laundry basket full of clothes. Sungsoo didn't mind much and just did a muffled noise of acceptance to whatever her mother is doing. On the other hand, Jungwon was gripping onto the bedsheets under the blanket. He was beyond irritated at the way she interrupted them once again, also having the audacity to wake Sungsoo up from her beauty sleep. For some reason, ever since he gained consciousness, he felt a weird yet specific connection to her, wanting to protect yet analyze her. Her mother turned towards them and he just smiled at her, trying to be seen as apologetic as possible, even though his eyes were burning into her skull as she walked out the room, almost limping due to her weak body.
Next morning, Jungwon found himself waking up on the bed alone, an empty spot next to him. He slowly sat up, yawning and stretching his body, soon after ending up groaning in pain, holding his head as he experiences pain coming from where he got the surgery. His vision becomes blurred, the only thing he's able to hear is a long ring noise, his breathing getting heavier and cold sweat drowns his face.
His body loses balance making him fall on his back. "Argh! Stop!!" He yells, rolling on his side, waiting for the pain to cease, his vision slowly going back to normal. Minutes later, he sits up again and let's out a long sigh.
"Just what is... wrong with me."
He finally finds the ability to stand up, suddenly hearing another annoying sound that triggers his headache.
"Ugh.. what is that loud sound?" He says through gritted teeth. He follows where the noise is coming from, opening the back door to find his girlfriend's mother cutting raw chicken with a big knife on top of a wooden board. He holds his head and steps outside, standing behind her.
"What are you doing so early in the morning?" He asked her. This took her by surprise and looked back at him, then throwing him a smile as she noticed it's just her daughter's sweet boyfriend.
"Ah, you're awake already? That's a bummer. You should rest more! I prepared breakfast already, it's on the table covered for you." She turns around and was about to start chopping again until Jungwon interrupts her.
"... where's Sungsoo? She wasn't in the bed..." He said the last part more as a murmur and waited for her response.
"Oh, she went out for some groceries I needed for dinner. She'll be back soon, it's just around the corner. Now go to eat! You need to be healthy again after the accident, okay? Go go" She rushed him with her hand, then turned around and started chopping the chicken again. Loud cuts, once after another.
Jungwon was holding his head tighter, his breath slowly becoming heavier.
Stop her... stop her... kill her... just kill her...
There was a voice that was eating Jungwon's brain, his eyes widened, and he stood there frozen, the voice again repeating its words. Kill her... Do it... she's weak... it's going to be easy... Jungwon groaned, a force on him wanting to steal the knife from her and—
Out of a sudden, there was a visceral sound that seemed to drive deeply inside Jungwon's bones. He held his head tighter, both noises summing up and driving him crazy. He ran inside the house, going unnoticed by the woman as she was busy cutting the deceased animal.
"The fuck is it now..."
Right away, there was the kitchen. He kneeled down and grasped his forehead with his hand, taking deep breaths and growling as the voice got louder and louder. The chainsaw... it must be coming from next door... He thought to himself. His eyes slowly looked up towards the kitchen counter, spotting a knife right on the top. His expression grew darker, almost as if he found relief upon such an object. He stood up, his hand approaching the sharp weapon and grasping it tightly.
He heads towards the window that faced the neighbor's house, climbing up on it and jumping down on the ground outside. He had a drive inside him, a guide telling him what to do with each step he took towards the loud sound that was eating him alive. He opened a fence entrance that led to a patio, and there it was, the nuisance that dared to wake up an instinct inside Jungwon. It got even louder as he approached the man, which rapidly noticed the visitor as he looked towards the boy. The neighbor pulled down his face mask and smiled brightly, not receiving the same welcomed expression from Jungwon, who was hiding a dangerous object behind his back.
"Oh! Yang Jungwon! What a surprise, I guess the surgery was successful! You look healthy, all of us were praying for your recovery! We are all very glad that you stopped that mons—"
He felt a fierce and sharp pain on his abdomen, coughing up blood, it landing on Jungwon's emotionless face. He dropped to the ground, soon letting the chainsaw fall. However, it was still running, it's prototypical noise driving Jungwon crazier.
"It seems like you know me... well, I am glad we met again then." A smirk slowly creeped up Jungwon's mouth. Loving the clear fear and terror on the man's face, he crouched down, admiring his suffering. Once he tried to defend himself, Jungwon grabbed him by his hair and threw his body towards the fence, his back hitting against the wooden surface. He kept gasping for air, soon enough getting interrupted as Jungwon dragged him to lay him down on the ground, raising his knife with a sinister look on his face. He kept stabbing the man, his blood splattering over the walls and floor. It goes on, on, on, and on. Cuts, slashes, rains of blood. His screams were muffled by the chainsaw, Jungwon having zero worries of others finding out, enjoying the moment as his flesh cuts open, adoring the man's last breaths. Yes... Kill him... slice his throat open... The voices kept going and going. Jungwon having no option but to listen to them. He stopped for a moment and recovered his breath, throwing his head back and releasing a sigh.
"Ah... that felt great." He felt relieved, like a weigh was lifted off his shoulders. The blood ran down his neck, painting his light clothes red. He stood up, the lifeless body laying right behind him. He felt powerful, almost like he unlocked a new skill level in his life. He looked around, finding something or somewhere to plant the body. He didn't want anyone else to see his artwork but himself. Dragging the body, he left a trail of blood down the hill that he found behind the house. Afterward, he went back up to get a shovel from the patio. He dug a hole on the ground, soon after throwing the body inside and covering it.
Sungsoo opened the front door and carried the shopping bags towards the kitchen. She sighed from the walk she had to do for the corner store. She placed them on the kitchen counter, turning around and finding her mother carrying chicken pieces on a plate.
"Oh? You're here already? That's good, I just finished with the chicken." Her mother said, placing down the plate on the counter as well.
"Yeah, I am tired already. Also, have you seen Jungwon? He was sleeping when I left and..." She looks towards the dining table. "... his breakfast is left untouched."
Her mother was confused, she swore he went inside to eat and probably went back to sleep. She tilted her head and sighed. "That boy... he probably went back to rest without eating! I told him to so he could be healthy." She sighed and continued to work with the food. Sungsoo furrowed her eyebrows confused, starting to walk towards her room, where she last saw him. He would usually be a morning person, though... She thought.
Once she opened the door to her room, she got surprised upon seeing Jungwon pulling a shirt over him, him turning around also as surprised by the door opening. Sungsoo's cheeks flushed red and she stuttered.
"A-ah, sorry— I've just been looking for you and- just continue, I'll be back once you're finished." She said, turning around and was about to walk out. However, she got stopped by his arms wrapping around her waist, receiving a back hug from him. Her lips parted in surprise, but soon after her thoughts are filled with questions. Jungwon's voice halters, talking in whispers, almost as if he was in terror.
"I- I'm scared... I'm scared... Sun... I'm scared..."
"This morning, a crime scene was found by Mr. A's wife, terror soon surrounding the neighborhood as she encountered her patio with blood splattered all around it, and the most shocking part, was a big red cross drawn on the fence, presumably done using the victim's blood.  The police have begun an investigation regarding her husband's disappearance.  This case has been seen to be pretty similar to the killings done by the earlier serial killer that was soon captured. There are doubts whether there is a copycat or a new rise of a psychopath that the nation needs to worry of once again..."
Note: first completed post!! I made this fanfic based on a certain k-drama... let's see if anyone notices which one I made some references to 👀. Funny how the work I planned to post first is the total opposite of this one. Oh well, hope you enjoyed the ride this plot has 😔
