i feel very mixed on shiv's ending, particularly her choice to return to tom -- i think it makes sense from a thematic/character arc perspective and is a powerful yet devastating indictment of both shiv and the world that created her as well as showing that the cycle of abuse will always continue to cycle, that shiv will become her mother etc, but i also think it does not make sense from a character/internal logic perspective. it's a choice that makes sense from the writers, but not from shiv, not yet. it could've been a brilliant ending to her character, but is tainted for me by the less-than-ideal execution of it, which felt very rushed, making shiv's final submission to tom feel forced by the show rather than forced by the situation or honest to her character. the ending is not inherently misogynistic from the writers' side as i've seen some criticisms claim (it is a dark but real portrayal of misogyny within capitalist society and how it's internalized within the white women who end up at the hips of the CEOs who run it), but i do understand how it could feel that way. the show fails at building up to (and thus convincing us) that the version of shiv we currently know would so immediately subject herself to her mother's fate, so instead of it feeling like shiv's hand was forced by patriarchy to place herself into her worst nightmare, it instead feels like the show itself was the thing that forced shiv to take that route, which does leave a sour taste in the mouth. it doesn't feel like the result of a choice shiv would make or the impact of patriarchal society bearing down, it just feels rushed and thus wrong. shiv would've benefitted immensely from a few more episodes or even just a few scenes dedicated to teasing out her newfound willingness to subject herself to immense disrespect in order to remain close to power, but given that her entire character has always been defined by her inability to do just that unless forced to (which i don't think she was in this situation as she could've easily not waited in the car for tom, not put her hand in his, but she did), her return to tom feels hard to comprehend, and her near immediate submission to him hard to stomach.

in my mind, at least, i've always understood shiv as being respect-driven rather than power-driven -- she wants power, yes, but more than anything she wants to be taken seriously and respected and seen as a legitimate player, and time and time again we've seen her blow up situations that would've been very advantageous long-term because she felt disrespected and needed to speak up and force people to take her seriously (which, ironically, typically results in the opposite). shiv's overarching goal is power, but her immediate necessity is always respect. her dignity is her number one priority at any given moment, even when it shouldn't be, even when it stops her from attaining the success and power she wants. i can kind of understand shiv going against kendall because of this -- she's always had a very, very narrow lens whenever she feels like she's being disrespected, and even though it is infinitely more humiliating for your (somewhat ex) husband to betray you and boot you out of the CEO position behind your back at the behest of your supposed closest ally (and for you to still vote for them after that!!!) than it is for you to magnanimously allow your brother to be CEO (which would publicly be seen as a choice, as telly etc said - sibs need to stand united behind one chosen CEO - rather than shiv being out of the loop and fucked to infinity), the narrowness of her vision upon seeing kendall about to win makes it impossible for her to think about that legitimately. it's not just jealousy, it's indignity: shiv feels she earned CEO through her machinations with mattson and feels genuinely sick seeing the loganified kendall grinning at the head of the table, hearing his "that's fucking right" and witnessing his cocky entitlement to the job that belonged to her. so, she does what she always does when she feels disrespected, when she feels her dignity is at stake, and impulsively blows everything to fuck, including her own best interests. that makes sense for shiv, at least somewhat -- i still think that as much as she wouldn't want ken as CEO she'd feel like at least w that outcome she'd be seen as a player and a deciding factor, whereas with mattson/tom she'd be viewed as a pathetic fucked-over nothing woman pawn etc (a situation of unparalleled indignity imo), but i can rationalize her choice to go against ken anyways as being part of the narrowed field of vision she always gets upon feeling disrespected by men in her life that makes it impossible for her to think strategically (and i guess even though the disrespect was greater and more humiliating from tom/mattson than ken, ken was the most recent most present and most lifelong source so that's all she could focus on; seeing him like logan was too much to bear). it's hard to imagine shiv publicly throwing her vote behind two men who publicly fucked her as humiliatingly as mattson and tom just did, even if the other option is kendall, but i think that's part of it -- it's fundamentally illogical, even from her disrespect-lens, because there's just something about kendall specifically being in charge that she's never been able to stomach. it's visceral and impulsive. it's not meant to make "sense." it's just what she feels she has to do to preserve her own dignity, even though it works directly against those same interests realistically. it wasn't executed very well, making it hard to entirely buy it given just how publicly humiliating the alternative is, but it can still be chalked up to her historically one-track-mind when it comes to indignity by the hands of kendall in particular. it's a last-ditch attempt for shiv to at least feel like she's maintaining her dignity, her self-respect, as counterintuitive as it actually is. it makes sense. i can stomach it.

again, shiv's fatal flaw (in logan's eyes and aside from her original sin of being a woman) has always, always been her inability to shut up and make the smart move in situations where she feels she's being disrespected or not taken seriously. if shiv stayed quiet during that dinner with the pierces, maybe she would've been logan's CEO, but no, she couldn't stop herself, she needed to feel she was being taken seriously, she burst out 'cmon, dad, just tell them it's going to be me.' she is unable to play it smart, to keep quiet, to win when winning means perceived disrespect. she's allergic to it. even on a personal level, she shoots herself in the foot constantly because of this: she is unable to let herself have the things she wants because she can't put herself in positions that open her up to disrespect and perceived inferiority. she can't be vulnerable because she needs to be respected. tom asks her if he could 'try to make love to her' in episode one of this season, and even though she clearly wants to, she says 'no, i don't think so, tom.' tom tells her he 'wants her, wants this' back in episode six, and even though she clearly wants that too, she draws back and says 'well then you shouldn't have betrayed me.' shiv is fundamentally incapable of allowing herself to remain in possibly advantageous situations when she feels at risk of being seen as lesser, of being disrespected, of being perceived as weak. that is her response to patriarchy. when patriarchal forces bear down, shiv is unable to grin and bare it -- she has a short fuse, a sharp tongue, and an inability to entertain even a second of being treated like The Woman, of being looked down upon, especially when it's for her gender. it's the one thing she cannot do, cannot let herself do, and it's why she fails to "win" over and over and over again. she shoots herself in the foot the second her patriarchy disrespect sensors tingle. she makes the wrong choice, the dumb choice, the one that makes her feel like she stood up for herself in the moment but ends up leaving her powerless and helpless in the end. that's the only explanation for why she chose to vote against kendall (the clearly better option for her long-term as she'd 1) be respected as part of the decision, as someone who helped choose the CEO rather than a Woman who got fucked over and had the door slammed in her face by her husband and close ally simply because she possessed a womb, and 2) probably be head of ATN or some other area of waystar, she'd have actual power within the company and be respected as a legitimate source of power rather than the CEO-to-be made CEO's humiliated wife -- if she was capable of making the smart, selfish choice in terms of power instead of having a hair-trigger reaction to gendered disrespect and cocky male superiority, she would have voted kendall. but she is not capable of doing that. she never has been. so she voted tom and mattson.

so what i still cannot for the life of me understand is what would compel this shiv, the one who cannot stomach indignity even when power's on the line, to immediately return to tom's side the second he beckons her, which is like five minutes after he becomes CEO (the job she was promised) by mattson (who gave it to tom instead of shiv because 'why get the baby lady if i can get the man who put the baby inside her?'). it makes perfect, cruel, devastating sense from a show perspective, and that's what most people are talking about, understandably. it's a devastating yet unavoidable, inevitable outcome. she's left with no other choice once she makes the decision against kendall, and patriarchy compels her to play the good wife to stay close to power. except, like... she does still have a choice. she does not have to go back to tom's car. she does not have to sit patiently waiting for him. she does not have to quietly congratulate him on his victory. she does not have to place her hand in his. these are all choices she made very voluntary. they're choices between maintaining her dignity and self-respect at the cost of future power versus maintaining the potential for future power at the cost of her dignity and self-respect -- the classic siobhan roy conundrum. she's been faced with it time and time again (even just five minutes prior with kendall) and she has never, not once, chosen the latter of her own volition. she hasn't been able to. that's her fatal flaw. maybe i could stomach her going back to tom if she didn't congratulate him, didn't place her hand in his when he expectantly held his out -- then some dignity would be preserved, maybe. but her complete and total submission for the sake of future power does not make sense with her lifelong inability to do just that. it makes sense that this would be her eventual endpoint, but we have seen nothing that implies shiv would so willingly subject herself to this feminine submission of wife and mother before person or source of power, to the complete and utter humiliation of being the quiet wife at the side of the man who knifed her in the back (and notably handed said knife by the man she thought her closest ally) in order to steal the job she fought for her entire life and, in her opinion, had earned. maybe she would come back to him eventually, for love or (more likely) for power, but it is incredibly hard to believe that shiv 'impulsive when faced with indignity' roy would be capable of immediately and publicly playing the role of the good wife after such intense and public humiliation at the hands of her husband.

really, the way i feel about the shiv ending is similar to how i feel about the daenerys ending -- unlike most people, i really wasn't that against the daenerys outcome. i thought it made a lot of sense and was interesting, devastating, and fascinating. i thought there had been a few signs all along and that that ending for her would make sense and be far more interesting than a Hooray ! Girlboss ! ending. however, it was poorly executed -- it was rushed. it did not make sense from where daenerys was at that point in the text. it could've worked, it could've worked brilliantly, but it needed more time to build and fester in order for her ultimate turn to feel earned rather than forced for the sake of the point the writers wanted to make. that's kind of how i feel about shiv. i get the ending and i don't think it's inherently bad or misogynistic or anything, but it feels like the writers saw the possibility for a shiv 'mommed' ending and immediately took it, with little regard to what actually made sense for shiv herself to do in that moment. outcome > character. that's frustrating for me particularly for succession because my like number one reason for adoring succession as much as i do is their consistent refusal to operate the way most media does (using the characters as instruments to achieve the plot/outcome the writers want), instead prioritizing following the characters themselves in a way that feels honest and real. it's character-driven, not plot or ending driven. i think that this fell by the wayside a few times in the latter half of this season simply because there was so much that needed to happen in such a short space of time (especially during the finale), but in my opinion, at least, the most egregious case is shiv. given more time, more development, more build-up, the last shot of her hand in tom's would've struck the chord the writers wanted it to -- and for some people, it did anyways! but for me, it rang out and fell nauseatingly flat. it felt hollow and wrong and unearned. shiv could end up becoming her mother, that feels entirely possible, but not in this particular sense, not yet. in what world would siobhan roy willingly choose to be seen as nothing more than a woman hanging off her husband's arm, especially when said husband had publicly humiliated her and ruined her entire life just five minutes prior? when, just five (metaphorical) minutes prior, she was the one poised to be CEO and everyone knew it? when now everyone will see her on tom's arm and whisper and gawk? she has become her worst fear, yes, but unlike kendall, it does not feel earned. it does not feel like she has actually become her worst fear. it feels like the show forced her to. not patriarchy or the situation or her own desire for power, but the show itself. that's what feels so shitty.

i wouldn't necessarily call the writing misogynistic as a result of this, as it's less a flaw of misogyny and more a flaw of bad, rushed writing that could happen to any character. it's the same as with daenerys -- although (somewhat unlike succession) there were many, many aspects of GoT's writing that were deeply misogynistic, especially in the last season (just look at fucking brienne), the core issue with the daenerys plotline is not one of misogyny but of time. they did not give daenerys the time needed to become the version of herself seen burning down the city. that could've easily been a focus of previous episodes, but it wasn't. they simply did not develop her enough for that turn to make sense yet. it could make sense, hypothetically, at some point down the line, but at that point it felt sudden, off-putting, and wrong. shiv could easily become her mother. that's been made evident especially regarding her relationship to pregnancy/children, love, and vulnerability (or the lack thereof). but for this ending to make sense, we would have needed to see signs of shiv imitating her mother's willingness to be relegated to the sidelines, to bring out the food while the men eat and make deals, in order to remain tangential to power. that is a concession shiv roy had never been willing to make prior to the last five minutes of the entire show. other signs of shiv imitating caroline or falling prey to patriarchal norms throughout the show are not enough to undo shiv's fundamental refusal to weather gender-related indignity even when doing so would benefit her. in my opinion, that's why the final five minutes of shiv's plotline were so unsatisfying.

shiv could become her mother, and her ending could be a devastating portrayal of the inability for even rich white women to escape their original sin of being a woman in a man's world, as well as a dark, ironic criticism of both women like shiv and the patriarchal world that breeds them into existence. but because the show did not develop shiv in this particular direction and because her entire character thus far has been defined by her self-destructive insistence on being respected at all costs, shiv's ending did not land the way it could've, or should've.

Don’t you sometimes see those ask games and wish you could just fkg do them all? On this sunny Saturday, we make our dreams reality lolol

1.  Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic.

Short fic, I usually get a small scene I want written so I write around it, plus I love short stories with interesting punchline.

2.  Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

Probably, I don’t know them all ^^’

3.  Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?

Writing about stuff that disgust me I guess.

4.  How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?

Like 5-6? I want to write about a restaurant but set in a world where people have powers I think the combo could be very funny. The main character has the power of insight, the plonge is a giant pool where you swim around cleaning. Backstories of characters with shitty and amazing powers and how they ended up here. Rival to lover character that has the power to see into the future.

5. Share one of your strengths.

Dialogues, subversion, and humor; classmates often said I have a touch to spin a sad story into something positive/happier.

6.  Share one of your weaknesses?

I get tired when I describe something for longer than 4 sentences.

7.  Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

“In what kind of trouble have we walked right into?”, I ask my companions as they’re idly fixing their attire. Together, we’ve face many perils and this mission ranks among one of the most dangerous. Yet, the others had been…how should I say it…professional! Rescuing kidnapped princesses, vanquishing terrifying monsters, quests to restore mythical artifacts, save nations from insidious plots. Oddly enough, “Does this dress make me look fat?”, is not the answer I’m looking for.

Ribbon in my hair is the first time I wrote about my knights, I first dreamt about them when I as 18, my boyfriend at the time called my idea stupid and my world building pointless so I only started writing about them when I was 21. Now I write about them a little bit every year :)

8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

“Do you really want your last words to be complaints?”

“I die as I lived.”

“Will we become a fruit tree?”

“I don’t think so, it’s never been the case for my ancestors.”

“I’d love it if we could turn into a banana tree.”

“I’m not from the southern regions, plus I like apples more.”

“Just imagine, our fruits could have been banana flambée”

This death scene was a big finale to a story I wrote for a class in Uni, a story of war between clan of forest and volcano people, of the supposedly brutal death of a Goddess, of a mysterious apple tree whose fruit give vision of the past. I should revisit it.

9.  Which fic as been the hardest to write?

My analysis on D’Artagnan and the figure of the hero. Granted it’s an essay for school but I deeply loved it. I was too afraid to write or ask for help from the professor in charge of me (which made our relationship tense ^^’) but when I did, it was beautiful and I was very proud got 89% :D

10.  Which fic has been the easiest to write?

A play called Adelaide where an old couple reads their old fairytale book about a Prince on a quest to save a Princess. They bicker about the other misreading the story but we finally get to the part where the Prince tosses the princess apart to get a better view of the dragon of which he falls instantly in love. The book is actually their wedding album.

11.  Is writing your passion or just a fun hobby?

It’s one of my passions, but it’s not something I think I could live on so I delegated it to my hobby.

12.  Is there an episode above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?

The wedding scene in Shrek 2, my mind was blown when I saw it in theaters and when I need inspiration to write, I rewatch it.

13.  What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?

Presentation is important. If trying to read you gives people headaches, they’ll stop. Choose a nice big font, space with paragraphs, be mindful of your spelling and missing words. Read out loud because some things written are bad said.

14.  What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?

I must’ve been lucky in this regard, I don’t think I’ve ever received advice that made me go NO, but I did have to listen/read stuff that made me gag.

15.  If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?

I would love to the Adelaide acted out, some adjustments would be required because I’m no expert in play writing but I think I’d be great.

16.  If you only could write one pairing for the rest of your life, which pairing would it be?

Luyenor’a and Taram, names are placeholders as of now but they’re two of my knight, being the “only pairing I’m allow to write about forever” means I’d get more knight shenanigans done.

17.  Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

I’m doing bullets point of what I want to happen and write stuff without much order. Some days I have no inspirations for what goes in the beginning but have loads for a later point. I surf the wave when it presents itself.

18.  Do you use any tools, like worksheets or outlines?

Word on my computer, a notebook in my bag, the note app in my phone.

19. Stephen King once said that his muse is a man who lives in the basement. Do you have a muse?

I have little trinkets all around my computer to invite inspiration.

20. Describe your perfect writing conditions.

Freshly woken up, having eaten, drinking something sugary and sometimes apple cider because the alcohol help lower my inhibition.

21.  How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

I read out loud at least once the whole thing, helps with missing words but dude I reread my stuff on ao3 and always find mistakes still ^^’

22. Choose a passage from one of your earlier fics and edit it into your current writing style. (Person sending the ask is free to make suggestions).

I’m not going to put here because it’s in French and I don’t want to translate now but I wrote Vision of a world, mine when I was 16 and damn was I already depressed then?

The Princess and the Soldier, some gay fairytale I think my first one, I’m sure I can do better bow

Once by accident, I was so angry I never rewrote it.

I don’t really use beta (beta reader right?) but I guess I’ve had like 3-4 when I was in Uni and had to read people’s wip and they read mine. They’d talk about what they liked, links they noticed, things that seemed weak or to change

I usually just point out the stuff I like

27.  How do you feel about collaborations?

For a class in college, we had to act out a play we wrote collectively. Ten sketches written in pairs/alone. I made sure I was alone so I wouldn’t be saddled with someone else to write my sketch

I don’t follow fic writers; I just am in a mood for a ship and read what’s available. I do like my friend @alumort ‘s fics tho ^^

29.  If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

There was a Phineas and Ferb fic focused on Perry I really loved. Their world building was something I’d never seen and they abandoned the story, so I did fanfic of a fic. Never dared to post it anywhere I mean it was their world to begin with.

Of course, when inspiration is given I accept

31.  Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?

I don’t care about canon but I do love using it when there are little trivia to enrich the character.

I made my best friend read All this for a Roll Cake, and she laughed so much at my work, I took a picture I look at from time to time to remain humble.

39.  Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?

Thankfully I’ve never received a rude review. My professor once told me it seemed kinda unnatural how unlucky my protagonist was vs. how lucky his love interest was (All this for a Roll Cake) but that was the whole point of the story so I just ignored her.

40.  Write an alternative ending to [insert fic title] (or just the summary of one).

Writing this I realised I lost my final version of All this for a Roll Cake T^T so I guess I’d rewrite the ending I have of the before the last version I still have.

BnHA Chapter 245: The Second One

Previously on BnHA: We kicked off day one of New Internships with a fun-filled morning of shenanigans. Highlights included: (1) an old bearded man gallivanting around town telling everyone the world is going to end (and making a surprising amount of sense); (2) Bakugou and Deku attempting to rough up a group of impassioned hobos, only to have their thunder stolen from right underneath their noses; and (3) Hawks, the thunder-stealer himself, who proceeded to be all “what’s up fellas, hey Endeavor did you miss me?” Endeavor, who totally did miss him, pretended like he had not, and meanwhile Hawks introduced himself to Endeavor’s new trainees: Finger-Smashing Kid, Kid Who Used To Work For The Guy You Just Murdered, and Shouto (Just Shouto). Then he pulled out a copy of Re-Destro’s book and was all, “hey Endeavor have you heard of this book which was really important to the plot in the previous arc? I think you should read it, for reasons!!” and Endeavor just kind of stared at him, which wasn’t exactly inspiring. Anyways let’s see if these two idiots can manage to pull this off.

Today on BnHA: Hawks shoves the Liberation Army’s book into Endeavor’s hands while staring at him with the intensity of a thousand suns, and then, to avoid suspicion, proceeds to hand out another 500,000 copies of the book without even being asked. He then flies back to the PLF headquarters and is all “good news gentlemen, I gave out copies of the Army’s book to everyone in Japan!” and they’re all “that’s great, Hawks!” because somehow it turns out that this was actually a good plan. Back at the Endeavor Agency HQ, the kids meet Endeavor’s 30+ other sidekicks, who are all “now let’s all stand around and wait for Endeavor to tell us what to do.” Over in his office, Endeavor shrewdly deduces that Hawks was trying to tell him something, and pieces together the hidden code Hawks left in his book, which basically reads “IN FOUR MONTHS WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE.” Back at the PLF, the League cheerfully discusses their plot to blow up the entire world come Springtime. Which apparently everyone is on board with. So, uh, does anyone else feel like they accidentally fell asleep during a really important part of the movie, because uh. What.

(All comments are my unspoiled reactions from my initial readthrough of the chapter. I did a quick edit for grammar and clarity afterward, and added a few ETAs in the process, but aside from that there are no changes.)

okay so two things: (1) as I mentioned in a previous post, Caleb Cook reported that this chapter took him more than 4 times longer than usual to translate. so like, what does that mean?? guess we’re about to find out!

and (2) HAWKS’S REAL NAME. I started typing up this recap early just so I could liveblog my reaction, since it seems that the databook has leaked, and I figure I’m going to stumble across this sooner rather than later. so I’m just going to look it up now here goes!!

I like it. that was my favorite character in Bleach too

also apparently both of the kanji used for “Keigo” mean “enlightenment” oooh. my god I could analyze this all day. this being Thursday night, I’ll have some time to ruminate before I read the chapter tomorrow, so if I have any epiphanies I will add them in later!

(ETA: no additional thoughts on this right now, but there is now a ton of other content out from Ultra Analysis, so let’s take a quick look at some of that!

Haagen Dazs’s gender:  I now feel vindicated in continuing to refer to him as a “he” even after the face reveal! let this be a lesson to everyone never to judge a shounen character solely by how pretty they are. not that it wouldn’t have been nice to have another female villain! anyways the important thing is that I still don’t have his name memorized and never will!

Thirteen’s gender?!: now this, I don’t really like. Thirteen was already in the previous databook IIRC and their gender was ambiguous. which to be frank was awesome. having a canon nonbinary character was sick. why you gotta do this now Horikoshi smdh.

Reason for Shouji’s mask: nooooo poor Shouji. people in quirk society are jerks! lol I get the arms being scary, but his face?? now I really want to see what he looks like though. it would be cool if he became more accepting of himself as a result of hanging with his chill classmates and decided to ditch the mask. anyways my boy needs a hug.

and there’s a lot of other stuff, including a whole series of cute segments showing the characters’ relationships with each other, but I think I’ll save those for another post because otherwise this would get way too off-track. but man, so far I’m really loving this.)

Liar! Uncover the Truth Part 4 - Itaru Lovers Route

Had enough free coins to check out Itaru’s lovers route so let’s see how it is! Itaru sounds so perfect that it’s suspicious loll. Is he a stalker? Oh wow, it’s crazier than I thought. He’s actually some guy that confessed to her when they were young and she blatantly rejected him at the time and now he’s changed himself into becoming her perfect man so that she’ll choose him and love him. So really, it can be said that Itaru is just a made up persona used to please her every whim for all these years. Wow, he’s pretty dang obsessed.

I guess it’s understandable why he loves her so much though, she stood up to the class that was bullying him because he was fat and she never ignored him like they did. From Itaru’s perspective though, this must be the worst. He tried his best until this day and finally got the heroine but now she’s pushing him away again, even if it’s super normal to push him away lol. Although Itaru is way too overboard, I do feel kinda sorry for him since he really sincerely thought that this would make her happy. And tbh technically, the heroine changed herself to be the perfect version of herself as well, but I guess the difference is, she did it because she wanted to for herself whereas Itaru hasn’t been living for himself these ten years…so it’s really nice to see a more real him when she went back to visit her parents in their hometown, the CG with them watching the fireworks together was rather sweet.

Wow, gotta say her co-workers are like the worst people on the planet. Who the heck judges what a sick person wears and how they look right in front of them and then calls them lazy and stuff?! What disgusting behaviour of adults. No wonder why the heroine is so focused on looks and everything, it’s because people like them are all around her. That guy is the worst though, saying he dodged a bullet by not getting to date her, wtf, who do you think you are. So glad Itaru came and put them in their place like a hero. *Spoilers* Which just makes their inevitable breakup in the sequel that much more miserable imo, kinda sucks that all we get in the sequel is that he’s too clingy so she dumped him😑 It’s like, what was the point of this Lovers Route and them going through so many things to just get a two liner saying she dumped him because he’s clingy, sigh.

It was so cute when he saw how messy and disgusting her room was but he just laughed and said it was just like her because she’s been a messy person ever since she was a kid haha. Anyway, I loved the happy ending and how Sotaro tricked her into thinking Itaru was going to move abroad forever so she ran to the airport to confess to him of her true feelings. It sounds cliche but seeing this heroine do such a thing really makes you realise how much she doesn’t want to lose the guy that accepts her for who she is and that she can talk about anything and everything with. It was really sweet to see them act as themselves and bicker so cutely. I really liked that.

Overall, I was a bit worried and sceptical about this story when it was revealed who Itaru really was, but after they got through all that and Itaru showed who he was a bit more and showed how sincere he was, I liked it. I liked how the heroine changed her thoughts about it and I like how they bicker with each other now and just act like themselves, it’s so cute and I feel like through this, they were able to truly know each other. I love it.

Sequel Hmm I’m not sure what I’m missing, but apparently Itaru is clingy so the heroine doesn’t want to be with him anymore? I should have read the Lovers Route first… (Edit: finally done! So sad that she broke up with Itaru sigh because I really like the Lovers Route zz, especially since she just dumps him like nothing after all that…) Oh well… Anyway, heroine has some stalker that keeps sending her letters so now she wants to move and it’s to some communal place that the fortune teller guy is handling. Plot seems to be basically the heroine going through the guys again to see who she might have overlooked and actually be a better guy than she had thought previously.

And lolol at the heroine trying so hard to hide where she was moving from the guys but ending up moving to the exact shared accommodation that they’re all living in lol. Seems like Itaru isn’t an option again (sadly), so I guess I’ll check out how things would go if she ends up with Sotaro then~ Although I should have gone for Kazumi, I always felt sorry for him, he was a good guy, whereas Sotaro, I’m still rather eh about, although not as eh as all the other guys lol. Anyway, lmao that Azusa is getting paid by Sotaro to do his laundry and cooking meals for him haha, nice and convenient job for some cash lol. Oh, that ended quickly, but lol it was cute how he got her to teach him to clean laundry and fold it together, such sweet everyday things to do together. Overall, it was interesting but very short, so it was nice to read but that’s all, not much substance to it haha, I think I’ll just go and read the other arc with the 3rd heroine~

Ao3 is a fucking godsend let me tell you. I won’t make a lot of the same points and stuff that fannish history folks have already documented (how it literally changed, and all the fic we’ve lost that isn’t backed up on floppy disk somewhere… I’d say we’ve lost an equivalent to the digital burning of alexandria honestly) but i can tell you my experience :3

I’ll stick it under a cut cuz i kind of rambled… but i had fun doing so ahahha xD sorry you unleashed the tiger from the cage xD

We all make jokes about ‘being there’ when stuff in fandom history happened, but i’ve been around since all the major purges (LOL my name is so fitting in retrospect ahahha). ff.net’s various purges (and the whole anne rice suing fanfic writers and shit… i never DID agree to their new terms of service haha), geocities sites going down, obviously the more recent shit too, but like I’ve been around even for the creations of certain, older fanfic sites too (one of the oldest slash forums for lord of the rings fics for example… I was there, Gandalf LOLOL!!… and now that i check the date on that i feel old as balls thanks anon xDDD and wow my one fic is still up there PFFFFT) but like, I come from an era where you took your floppy disk and copy/pasted shit from online (once it even loaded) for later reading, and also so you could find it again, because also before ff.net it was hard to find stuff. I’m pre-google ya’ll xD You dont UNDERSTAND the horrors of trying to find anything pre-google. Ya’ll have it so fucking good D:

There was never an abundance of content like there is today, and so you can bet your shit we were grateful as fuck for what was out there, let alone for someone with a decent command of writing and storytelling. Everyone commented on everything (once that was something even implemented… it was email lists before that, and comments sent in that way… i still have my e-mailed comments from fic readers haha), and it was (and still is, in my honest opinion because people entitled as FUCK now) one of the GREATEST faux paus you could do to be reading a fic (esp. multi-chaptered) and not comment. The indignity of not giving back a little (and it still is a little, which is why i get so damn fired up on this subject) for aaaaaaaall the words and story and everything you just read was a serious sin against fanfic writers. I still think its seriously fucked up not to comment (and again, i’ve mentioned that if you dont got the spoons, thats obviously different) but like, the entitlement that runs rampant today did not even exist back then. Yeah, you still had the assholes whose comment would literally consist only of “where’s the rest?” with ZERO actual thanks or input while expecting/thinking they deserve more (and THEN you could remove chapters or stories, cuz god giveth and damn does she taketh away xD), but it wasn’t nearly as prolific as it is today.

The commenting culture today and the backlash against writers wanting comments on their work in return for providing said free content makes me mad enough to wanna curb stomp some people. I’m a bartender, I don’t put up with shit HAHA xD But the entitlement especially now and people who act like writers are being uppity for wanting a small return on their craft are disgusting. Same type of entitlement as art thieves (we all know the type). We didn’t put up with that shit back then. People acting like little bitches wanting free stuff for literally nothing? We’d pull the whole fic. And the community would handle it and it usually turned into a teaching moment about how damn important it is to comment and just how much freaking control writers DO have over their media. We’d pull it from public view unless amends were made (whether that be a private note from someone entitled finally paying their fucking due with proper humility, or reaching a comment count when you had hundreds of people reading but not commenting). Damn i miss taking away fic xD We played hardball back then xD

That was the fucking worst and people were rightfully denied access to fic if hits didn’t coincide with comments. You could publish a chapter and then decide to remove it from view (either for editing, or hostage taking for comments…. which i miss dearly AHAHAH it forced people to learn to be proper commenters and interact with those whose media they were consuming). It’s a big part of what I miss because just like a proper community, people kept each other in check and made sure everyone played nice. You enjoyed a fic? You sure as hell let that writer know. Now though…. the entitlement drives me up the fucking absolute walls and makes me wanna put stuff behind a paywall sometimes…. everyone is lucky im lazy as shit tho AHAHAH and im usually fine after venting xD

But yeah, fanfic culture in general has shifted in a major way to constantly consume and NEVER give back, either in comments, or creating new content yourself to also add to the community (for example as i’m sure we’re all aware, like ALL the people who bitch about certain ships or ‘why ship this when you can ship THIS?’…. I do believe that this is a huge source of where Anti-shipper behavior has stemmed from; entitlement gone berserk. And public schools and shit are still largely full of my parents’ generation who were not computer-literate either in function or courtesy, so even as internet social skills are not being taught correctly (or safety; they scared the SHIT out of us back in the day and now everyone has all their shit and pictures online haha) so there’s also a huge disconnect socially which i think has impacted online fandom spaces and what is considered acceptable or not. People also turn into fucking swine when they think they’re anonymous online (and boy do they change their tune fucking quickly when you out them) and i think the whole anonymity thing is also a factor of this whole entitlement issue in fandom spaces; making demands without giving ANYTHING back. Like I’ve mentioned in the past, I don’t put up with that shit, and it’s not a coincidence I was going to work for the CIA after I just left Japan about 3yrs back (thank fuck I didn’t cuz FUUUUCK this administration) cuz people are dumb as shit and basic tracking skills to call someone out on their bullshit has been my bread and butter since i was like 12 haha. You act dishonest and entitled, and it’s gonna come back to you in some shape or form. You’re going to reap what you sow. That was the motto back then and I still believe in it today.

Hell, it has shocked the FUCK out of me the few times i’ve had people tell me ‘omg me and my friend were talking about your latest update!’ and i’m just like O_O????? because also back in the day, ‘fanfiction’ was kind of a taboo word. You never said you were into fanfic in mixed company. You more or less NEVER discussed it publicly (I’m not even talking dirty stuff, just normal, sfw fanfiction) because it primarily existed only online (for me; i’m post-fan magazines but pre-internet fanfic sites LOLOL). Hell, I got my college english professor into fanfiction. She didn’t even know what it was, let alone that something like that existed, and I had to explain it to her my first year of college kind of with a red face xD She was a writing-professor too so like, let that date the culture a bit. Like, if that was literally her major field of expertise and she didn’t know about it, that should tell you how not-mainstream fanfic was.

I’m kind of out of touch with that myself. Do kids (ya’ll are kids to me okay? xD) mention fanfiction as a reading/entertainment medium in normal conversation? Like, you could mention, without getting weird looks, ‘oh i enjoy reading fanfiction’ or (and i’m like internally gasping at the idea here) being able to say ‘yeah i enjoy writing fanfiction’? Is that a thing? I sure as hell don’t tell my peers that I write fanfic, let alone that i’m approaching 1million words for borderlands stuff alone AHAHAH It’s STILL taboo and seen as a lesser writing medium to folks my age. If you weren’t in a ‘geek’ circle (and i mean, i had friends who played D&D at lunch, and one friend who we mentioned fanfic together with) then culturally, as an art form, it wasn’t acceptable to discuss. Like, i’m STILL in that mindset that fanfic is not something to be discussed off the internet with people and it makes me very very uncomfortable to do so unless i know 100% I can speak discretely with someone. That’s what the offline culture was. I know its way different in some respects, like me and my youngest sister are 10yrs apart and her experiences with fandom are wildly different, but the idea of people actually talking about someone’s fic together with friends absolutely blows my fucking mind.

So, it’s changed in good ways too xD I just fucking HATE people who think they’re entitled to never comment or give back to the community sooooo i tend to get stuck on that issue, ESPECIALLY, again, as a writer approaching 1million words. *salute* doing my duty to the fandom community LOLOL or polluting the fandom community if you’re an anti AHAHAH antis can suck my entire ass and i’ll go on to put another million words of what they HATE into the world and they cant stop me ;3 spite is a fabulous motivator xD

The tools back then were a lot more crude, abilities and functionality was limited (but also better in some ways; moving fic to the ‘backroom’ so to speak), and even finding stuff was hard and relied on the hushed whispers of friends, but damn the community was better. So much better. So much more positive and accountability made people decent. So like, I do LOVE a lot of what we have now, but we have lost SO much. Both in terms of content and sense of community. I wish people would put more positivity into the content they’re consuming and lift up others. It’s why i try my damnedest to leave commenting tags on EVERY SINGLE THING i ever reblog here, because i *know* firsthand how much it means. To scream your art into the silence and only get the equivalent of stares back is maddening.

So yeah. Stuff has changed. Capitalism and censorship are running especially rampant hand-in-hand right now, and lord forbid we come full circle where there are no more places for us. I mean, if we have to go back to email lists, hell I’m already ready and an old veteran to that system anyhow. I’d miss all the content we all have access to…. but then there’s also that 90% commenting rate you get with that kind of system so HEEEEEY let it all fall down! bahahah xD

First of all let me say that I want 3 more minutes of the show. We’ve been told the first episode will be 54 minutes and it’s actually a bit less than 51 minutes (that’s including the title sequence) so I’d like to know where those 3 minutes were lost? Is there an extended version out there that I’ve missed? Edit: Oh okay, it’s 54 minutes with last season recap.. That’s a shitty move, HBO, last season is not new season. Fucking liars...

Seven:

Who decided it was a good idea to let this boy have enoughenergy drinks to hype him up?

I’m pretty sure he’s convinced he can see sound. Actually,he might be able to, who the fuck knows?

What does Seven do with this newfound energy and amazingtalent? He gets to work on his computer. Vanderwood is actually really proud tosee him working away this hard. The kid is certainly working a lot harder thanhe was for their very last mission.

When Seven finally crashes, passing out on his keyboard,Vanderwood decides to take a look at what the redhead has been working on andjust…has he been…making a manual on how to best create the world’s new longestlongcat?

After a long long nap, Seven awakens with a keyboardimprinted on his face and a note from Vanderwood that he will be tasing theredhead for being an idiot later. Why??? What had he even done to the guy????T_T

Yoosung:

The blond had used energy drinks many a time to stay up forLOLOL raids, but this was his first time using them to stay up for somehardcore studying.

Ever since you’d come into his life, he was now a devotedstudent once more, wanting to become a reliable man to you. This cram sessionwould have to be the best of all cram sessions ever.

Yoosung decides to have more than one energy drink, and thenhe starts to feel a little weird. It’s like he’s dreadfully aware of his ownheartbeat. What is this?? Is he dying??

It seems like the whole world around him is full of thesefuzzy little dots too. He is most certainly dying. Instead of studying,

Yoosungturns his attention to writing his will and a very long and heartfelt letter toeach of the people most important to his life, including a final letter aboutthe dangers of having too many energy drink that he passes out halfway throughwriting.

You find him the next morning, covering him with a blanketbefore looking at what he was doing. There is drool on the final note and yourifle through the papers only to sigh at his naivety. Yoosung may be smart, butsometimes he’s really ridiculous.

Zen:

Energy drinks used to be something he was having all thetime when he worked out, but after he realized there was just so much sugarthat he was mostly working the drinks off, he stopped. Sure, he was a heavy beerdrinker too, and that wasn’t healthy, but why add energy drinks on top of that?

It’s been a while, and supposedly this energy drink you’dleft on the counter was extra strength, so he decides to give it a sip just tosee what his cutie is drinking. It tastes so good that he ends up having alittle more than a sip.

By the time he’s finished off half of the can, Zen realizesthat he is shaking. His entire body is just violently shivering like somechihuahua on acid. There is so much energy and he needs to get rid of it!

So, what does he turn to? Exercise. Zen goes to his favoritegym, and you find him there hours later after the gym manager calls you. Yourfavorite albino has passed on the elliptical.

Zen swears off energy drinks for the rest of time and alsonever lets you drink them either, because that can’t be good for you.

Saeran:

The can seems colorful and he just assumes it’s a pop. It ismost definitely not just a pop, but at least it tastes good?

It isn’t long before Saeran starts to feel really weird. Hisleg just starts bouncing, his fingers tapping wildly at the armrests of hischair. Something in him just feels like he needs to do something and he can’tfigure out what.

This perpetual feeling is just getting worse and worse evenas he tries to figure out something to do on the computer to no avail.

You find Saeran curled into a ball on the bed hours later,his hands pressed to either side of his head. Apparently the stimulation hadcaused a bit of a panic attack, and this was where your love had retreated to.Good thing you’re there to help him now.

No energy drinks for Saeran, ever.

Jaehee:

This woman drinks so much coffee and tea on a regular basisthat she is not even able to get high off of an energy drink.

Jaehee took one sip, thought it tasted disgusting, but then drankthe whole thing down thanks to your dare to do so. It was the only way she’dtry it.

Of course, you had to do the same and it ended up being thatJaehee was following you around as you hopped around the room ‘cleaning’ whichactually meant knocking stuff over with the duster as Jaehee heroically caughteverything and replaced the items on their respective shelves.

V/Jihyun:

He may have had an operation to help out with most of hissight, but V still had trouble with small lettering. There is small letteringon this can of energy drink, and he happens to be so thirsty at the moment thathe just needs to get something down.

That was a mistake. For one, it was incredibly sugary andnot really to his taste, but for another, why did he feel like he wanted to runa marathon?

V doesn’t know what to do with all the pent up energy, andhe doesn’t trust his depth perception to actually attempt to run a marathon, soinstead he makes it to his computer and just starts frantically editingpictures.

It isn’t until his eyes start watering and stinging that herealizes he has been staring at the screen way longer than his doctorrecommends that he be allowed to.

At least now he’s starting to feel tired? Really tired…Hebarely makes it to his couch before passing out.

When he wakes up his eyes are so sensitive to the light thathe actually has to use his cane to get around because he can’t bear to keep hiseyes open for longer than thirty seconds.

From now on, tap water is just fine.That sounds like the best solution to thirst.

Jumin:

This new brightly colored can must be some commoner’sbeverage his lovely MC enjoys.

Jumin picks up this beverage labeled ‘beast’ with a brightgreen ‘b’ logo and examines it. Of course, he reads the back of the can,furrowing his brows at the nutritional statements as well as the warnings.

How on Earth could his sweetheart like this type of drink?With a sigh, he decides that he will just have to try it. The drink is withinhis allotted extra calorie intake by some miracle, or curse, so he decides todrink it, if only to understand.

The amount of energy that seems to flood his system israther a shock to it. Jumin has no motivation problems on any given day, butright now…He needs to work on cat projects.

He didn’t do these as often as he once had, because he simplydidn’t get as stressed as he used to now that you were around, but he just hadto do one right now. That cat hotel project had never hit the ground runninglike it should have.

Jaehee is beyond surprised when her boss calls her on herday off sounding like a crazed person, and she nearly cries as he gives her somuch work to go along with the work that he is doing as well. How can he expectto have this project done by today?

After much sweat and tears, maybe even blood from papercuts,Jaehee arrives at the penthouse to deliver the documents personally to Mr. Han,only to find that Jumin is passed out with his head in your lap, papersscattered in neat piles.

The next morning, Jumin looks everything over, feeling wornout beyond belief, and decides to just trash it because the ideas he’d had weremade ‘under the influence’ and that just wasn’t ethical. More tears fromJaehee.

Vanderwood:

Seven tricks him. And by tricks him I mean mixes an energy drink into afruit smoothie that Vanderwood was making. The brunet questions the taste, butdecides it was probably the slightly over ripened kiwi that had done it.

There’s not long before Vanderwood just feels on edge. Hiseyes flicker around the room as his heart-rate seems to increase dramatically.Brown eyes find the redhead watching him, a smirk on Seven’s face which quicklyturns to fear.

Of course, that on edge feeling must be that the redhead wasplanning some sort of horrible joke. Seven’s smile was just fading because hewas being caught in the act. “What are you planning?” Vanderwood seems to feelmuch faster than usual as he actually manages to catch the much smaller andusually quicker male.

He drags Seven around with him from room to room asking ifthe thing the redhead was pranking him with was there, watching him to see ifthere was any reaction.

When they eventually make it to the kitchen, Vanderwood isstarting to feel so exhausted, letting go of the redhead. It’s the last room,so whatever the prank was, it had to be here.

“So?” He watches as Seven’s eyes flicker to the now cleanblender and then away. The smoothie? “What did you put in my-“ And suddenly thecrash is just horrible. Vanderwood nearly falls over as he grips at thecounter. Now Seven feels pretty damn horrible, grabbing the larger man andhelping him to the couch where he just lets the guy sleep.

Normally, Vanderwood slept really lightly, but he was outlike a light. Should Seven add insult to injury and maybe draw on the guy alittle bit? …Why can’t he seem to resist writing ‘I’m a jerk.’ on Vanderwood’sforhead?

Once Vanderwood wakes up, feeling sick, and goes to thebathroom, suddenly he doesn’t feel so sick anymore, and it’s back to chasingthe redhead again. Why does Seven do this to himself?

zen was highkey upset when they learned that mc was taken already

but as long as they were happy, well, he was too 

they did grow close, though! the two of them were good friends

zen actually met the person mc was dating 

they seemed nice and seemed to have a connection to mc

but he’d be lying if he said that it didn’t hurt a little

mc’s date mate kissed them in front of zen once and wow did that sting  

but one night, zen heard a knock on his door. and he was so confused because it was past midnight

he opened the door to find mc, crying and with a developing black eye 

automatically brought them inside and had them sit on the couch

“mc! are you alright? no, that was stupid, what happened? who hurt you?” 

they can’t answer through their tears at first so zen kneels in front of them and wipes them gently 

“take your time..i’m right here, mc. you can tell me anything”

they manage to choke out that their date mate hit them during a fight

zen was shocked. their date mate did that? they hit mc? 

what he wanted to do, was get up and punch mc’s date mate right then 

but he focused on mc first. pulled them into a hug and offered them to stay the night 

once they stopped crying, zen brought them an ice pack and some tea

zen told them they had to get out of that relationship, but mc refused at first 

“mc. they hit you.” “I know zen, but I can’t leave them..I shouldn’t even be here right now. oh my god, this is all my fault-”

“how is this your fault, mc? babe, you did nothing wrong.” “Don’t call me that! Please..don’t” they yelled that first part, which surprised zen 

he was about to ask, but there was a bang on his door 

mc yelped, sitting back on the couch. “they found me…” 

oh now zen is Angry. he opened the door and found mc’s date mate

“I know they’re in there! Give them back to me, right now. I wasn’t done with them.” mc is shaking in the back

zen, however, stood his ground. “how about you fuck off. mc isn’t going anywhere”

they punch zen (!) mc yelled out for him when they saw him stumble back 

zen is quick to recover though and punches them in return, harder. 

he manages to get them out of his house, but goes back to mc with a face worse than theirs

“zen! you shouldn’t have done that, I’m so sorry!” 

“they won’t bother you anymore, mc. you don’t have to apologize.”

“but-” “how about instead of apologizing, you stay with me instead?” “…i’d like that”

yoosung was happy just having mc as a friend, at first

but then he developed a crush on them, which would’ve been fine and all, but they were already dating! 

he thought he was cursed for a few hours tbh 

unlike zen, yoosung never met mc’s date mate, but he’s heard stories 

mc smiles every time they tell those stories, so he tries to smile along with them, but it’s hard

and it was getting harder, but today was the day yoosung was supposed to meet mc’s date mate. he was going to go over to mc’s so they could all have lunch

when he got there, however, they were arguing.

“why do we have to have his kid over? I’m sure he just wants to get in your pants. And you’re gonna let him, aren’t you?” an unfamiliar voice. “of course not! yoosung is my friend..” mc’s voice 

“you don’t need friends! you’re dating me. I’m all you need, you whore” 

ok yoosung hates language like that, so he knocks on the door

mc’s date mate spoke again. “fuck off! you can’t have them, they’re mine.” “i’m sorry yoosung, maybe we can reschedule?” “reschedule my ass”..yoosung kind of lost his patience

he takes off his hair clip and picks the lock wow someone’s a badass

the door slams open and he can see mc flinch, but their date mate stands up

“mc is coming with me” and mc tries to go over to yoosung, but their date mate pulls them back over “take them from me, if you can” they smirk

yoosung knows that he probably can’t fight the person, but there’s something else he can do

no one is exactly sure how this happened, but now mc’s date mate is laid on the table, with yoosung holding them there 

“let me say this again. mc is coming with me.” “yeah, ok, sure dude.” 

yoosung lets them up and goes to take mc’s hand, but then the other person tackles yoosung instead

“yoosung!” mc yells out, running after the two of them, trying to get yoosung free

they eventually do get him off and mc slaps their date mate(ex date mate now) 

they run out and when they’re far enough, mc tells him that stuff like this has happened a lot..

yoosung hugged mc and kissed their forehead, “it’s over now, ill protect you”

jaehee knew that mc was dating someone else, but that was fine, jaehee just wanted mc to be her friend, anyways. r u sure jaehee?

things were just fine! they all got along, everything was fine

until, out of nowhere, mc started hanging out with jaehee less

by now, they haven’t hung out with her in going on 2 weeks

jaehee gets a little worried, so she calls mc

and they pick up! but she can hear…sniffling?

“hey jaehee, sorry I haven’t been over lately” “I’m more worried about you, mc….is everything alright?” “oh, yeah! everything is ok, just..i don’t think i can hang out with you anymore, im so sorry-” 

and then mc hung up. well….that was weird

jaehee had a feeling there was probably more to this than mc let on

so she decided to head over to their place to check on them

but they weren’t there. their date mate’s house, then.

jaehee knocked on the door, mc’s date mate opened it and crossed their arms. 

“what do you want?” “is mc here?” “that’s none of your business” jaehee raised an eyebrow. “as their friend, it is a bit of my business…so they are here” “even if they were, you can’t see them.” 

jaehee takes a step forward, mc’s date mate doesn’t move. “mc?” she hears a little noise from inside. oh, they’re in there.

“you can’t keep them in here.” she says. “watch me.” they answer

“I won’t let you.” jaehee says, “i’d like to see you try.” they say in response

and then they spit on jaehee’s face

she wastes no time at all and literally flips them out on the ground outside. jaehee walks inside and picks up mc, leaving

they go back to jaehee’s apartment and she wraps mc in a blanket with hot chocolate 

“mc, love that person did not deserve you. and no one can keep you from doing whatever you like, okay? i’ll make sure of that now”

mc’s date mate showed up to the party

mc was talking to jumin while they walked up and pulled mc’s face over to kiss them

jumin found that both odd and unneeded, but he didn’t understand couples

he also found himself a bit…jealous? except he wouldn’t kiss mc that roughly in public..

so it was already off to a bad start 

things got really bad, however, when mc’s date mate decided to interrupt an rfa meeting at jumin’s penthouse

they made a ruckus. the guards were having trouble because it seemed like they were throwing a temper tantrum

mc stayed quiet when the others asked if they wanted their date mate to come in, so jumin decided to check it out

when he found mc’s date mate with his guards, they were drunk. it wasn’t even one in the afternoon. 

“you fuckers give mc back to me right now.” they said. “do you need them for something important?” he asked. “yeah, I need some sugar. now.” 

jumin han is…disgusted. and could only imagine how mc felt.

and now, jumin han has a little brain click and he is angry

“hm. well, you can’t have mc at all anymore.” he tells the guards to take them outside, as well as one or two other things

but, of course, this drunk asshole decides to punch jumin first 

oh, now it’s only fair. jumin punches them back, and they are out. thanks alcohol

the guards are surprised, but he tells them he’s fine and to do what they’re told

he comes back into the meeting room, everyone but mc really surprised

*clears throat* “i’m afraid i ran into mc’s ex..but they’re taken care of”

oh, this one knew about mc’s relationship alright

and he knew that their choice in significant others wasn’t the best 

he also knew that they needed to get out of that relationship asap 

but how to tell them that discretely?

turns out, he didn’t need to. 

he got a call from mc, which he answered right away 

“seven? can you give me a ride?…and stay on the phone with me?” “of course”

he put it on speaker, hopped into one of his babe cars, and started driving over to mc 

he heard their argument over the phone

“you’re not leaving, mc.” “yes I am! I’m done with you cheating on me! i’m done with you acting like you’re sorry about it and then doing it again!” 

saeyoung was proud of them for that

“but, babe…you know i love you, i couldn’t live without you. i’m nothing without you.”  mc made a sound, one that sounded like they were believing that

“that’s bullshit, mc. and you know that. i’m almost there.” he said 

“don’t listen to that stupid redhead, mc. i’m in love with you…you’ve helped me with so much..i’m getting better, love”

saeyoung was two minutes away. “i…seven, hurry” 

he pushed the gas harder. “be walking outside.” 

he could tell mc was doing what he said, they were moving. “let go of me!” they yelled, presumably because that ass was holding them back.

seven pulled up, got out of the car, and took mc’s bag, using it to hit their arm off of mc. “watch your back, okay?” was all he said before taking mc with him

when they drove off, saeyoung took mc’s hand again. “thank you for calling me..” they sighed, wiping a tear away. “i knew you could take care of me..”

actually found out on the phone with mc while playing LOLOL

he was describing what was going on in the raid to them 

they offered advice like “no no, sneak into the back window. Don’t bust it open either, use your knife. left corner.”

he followed them instinctively, but then paused it. “wait…how’d you know that?”

*cue mc’s nervous laughter* “it’s..a side job…I’m kind of like..a thief”

*yoosung confused emoji noise* “like..in a game?” no, yoosung

becomes hella worried but doesn’t ask them to stop bc he didn’t know how

his main concern is them getting caught bc he can’t bail them out

he’s broke

starts taking classes hella seriously bc now he wants to open the hospital asap 

“so you won’t have to do it anymore!”

in the meantime, he visits the nurse and the bio club often to be prepared

jokingly asked if they could steal test answers once. don’t tempt them

when Seven pranked him again, mc managed to steal almost half his hbc stash

Seven was both impressed and devastated. Yoosung laughed so hard he cried

he hasn’t pranked Yoosung since, making Yoosung incredibly happy

found out through the background check

confused as to why V let them join 

he’s very suspicious at first

but they joke along with him and seem so positive 

it hits him that they could be like him

they were so nice and genuine, doesn’t let their job affect them too much

even after they eventually both quit their dangerous jobs

the rest of the rfa is lowkey scared of them but they know how lucky they are to have this dangerous, but positive couple

is Very Stressed 

found out when she was compiling info on the rfa members 

figured that’s why she didn’t trust them at first. baehee has great intuition

tells them they should quit before they open the cafe 

but suddenly a lot of the things they talked about made sense

like when mc said all those crazy things. “just shave elizabeth 3rd lmao”

manages to get mc to switch jobs and fully take on the cafe

but one day they found someone trying to break into the cafe 

oh boy

not only were the rest of the rfa infuriated jumin was honestly so pissed this would happen there’s bodyguards around the whole block now

but jaehee allowed them to do it just once more

*evil mc grin*

they didn’t steal anything, but they sure did get them back by messing up their house

ok they stole one thing

it was their coffee maker….look it was a keurig 

normally, jaehee doesn’t really like those 

but they help out on busy mornings at home or lazy days

she feels guilty but then again, the cafe was never in that situation again

zen/hyun:

remember that april fools phone call? (”you’re a thief” “yea, i am”)

that’s how he finds out

except he doesn’t believe them. just had to tell him during april fools, huh mc?

finally believes them when he they were going through pics and he saw one of them before going on a raid. they were all dressed for a mission

asks about it cause he was confused and they were like “i told you already gdi zen”

“but princess, that’s so dangerous!” “says the one who used to be in a gang!” 

almost demands they quit for safety (he’s also kinda broke and can’t pay bail)

they tell him they already did because they were worried it would give him hella bad publicity 

is so touched rip zen 

they still steal one thing though…merch. and tickets(technically cause zen always gives them one)

jaehee says she disapproves, but always takes mc up on their offers

they talk about their dangerous pasts while cuddling

his new favorite pickup line is “are you a thief? because you stole my heart how disgusting

brags about having a badass significant other

oh boy

mc didn’t wanna bring it up because this would be really bad for him

but when Elizabeth ran away, they walked around the penthouse and pointed out the most likely used escape route 

jumin was impressed, but also a little confused

mc forgets he doesn’t know for a minute and starts rattling off about escape routes that are in the penthouse and which one they’d take

jumin is even more impressed

and worried because they could sneak out

“were you planning on leaving, mc?”

oh snap 

“no no no! I was just giving an example, i won’t leave you jumin!” 

*internal sigh of relief* “but..why would you know that then?”

time to come clean, mc 

he’s so? surprised?? 

mc promises they’ll quit because of all the controversy that’s bound to happen 

which makes him relieved but also kinda upset cause they can’t do something they probably enjoy

hence why there’s a new room in the penthouse that makes mc feel like a spy to cross all these obstacles

jumin failed it like three times now 

v/jihyun:

was worried about letting them join when he heard from 707

but this had to be a sign because they were there 

so he let it happen

reads through the chat room more often than he did before to see how they were all getting along and if mc was really dangerous

but they weren’t, which made him feel better

he still found himself coming back, though

he hadn’t seen the rfa so bright and active in a while 

made him smile 

when he met mc at the party, they had a talk. especially cause mc figured he knew 

they were both glad there were no problems and then the conversation went to awkward, lowkey blushy territory

*cue both 707 and jumin snickering in the background*

mc offers to help with the whole Mint Eye situation 

at first, he refuses. it’s dangerous and he’s the only one who should be in danger 

so they steal those special glasses of his (that help him see a bit better w/his left eye)

the two of them reach a compromise: they’d do it together. 

V gives them all the info and finally tells the truth while mc goes in and shuts them down i want the rfa happy ok

unknown/saeran: 

he knew because he’s a stalker i mean also background check

thought they’d help just steal the info he needed

but they were cute… 

dammit saeran

still thinks they’d be the perfect candidate for Mint Eye though

and he imagined the rfa’s faces when their new member is actually a thief

hahah that oughta show them 

when he breaks through the window, mc is half scared-half “you could’ve done that so much better” 

mc it’s not like you’re on the first floor

they start to bond over his tattoo and leather jacket

if he stays in Mint Eye, they become The Scariest Couple oh my god

if he doesn’t and he stays with saeyoung, mc decides to quit as a thief to help him out and kind of show him that he could get over the hard past too

when he has nightmares, mc tells him stories of what they did before 

the stories are really no less scary, but imagining them doing all that and getting out alive make him feel better

especially cause they’re so nice

they keep their matching aesthetics though
