the allergy i am seeing grow up around small talk in any form is troubling to me. do you know how to make friends with people in your physical environment? it typically starts with small talk. do you want to live in community? small talk. do you want to have the type of relationship with your neighbors where you can run over and borrow a battery for your smoke detector when it starts beeping at 10pm? small talk!! do you want leeway from your coworkers when you fuck up something small? you gotta be able to build a relationship and that's small talk, baybeee.
"but i don't need friends and i don't care about community!" okay, lone ranger, what about the people in your community who need you? "but i have social anxiety!" me too, bud! we simply must soldier on. making up lists of questions to ask people helps. and people are predisposed to be generous, i've found. even if you make some kind of mistake, what is this but the natural give and take of human interaction? nobody is perfect.
you were not put on this earth to live by yourself and then die. you need people and people need you. treat those around you with curiosity and generousness of spirit and you will gain so much goodwill in return.

The salvation of souls is so critical that it must always be in our plane of view. All of the Ten Commandments, all laws, dogma, doctrine, and discipline are directed towards this end. The salvation of souls is our ‘telos’, our ultimate goal; and all other goals are subservient towards this end. If we fail this decisive and most important goal then all other goals, no matter how noble, become almost irrelevant. [Even so,] I cannot directly save my own soul, much less the soul of another. However, I certainly can lead others toward salvation or, for that matter, away from salvation. Every interaction, in one way or another, to one degree, can lead souls either toward God or away from God. Are we complacent when a poor soul is obstinate in his sin or do we lovingly correct him and pray for him? Do we counsel the doubtful or do we reinforce their disbelief? Our evangelization, whether it be direct or relational, should edify and sanctify those we meet.

Indifferent to Loud Noises
youtube
The wild child, who has been found recently in a forest in the rural district of Aveyron in southern France, is being taken to Paris, where Dr Itard and his colleague are eagerly awaiting his arrival… The film focuses on the possibility of edifying an abandoned child without having had any prior contact with people. Based on a true story near the end of the 18th century, what makes this narrative compelling is Dr Itard's patience and striving, which at last bear fruit and Victor of Aveyron turns into a child with respectful manners and the ability to show human emotions.

The Lord tells us that “the tongue is a fire, the very world of unrighteousness; the tongue is set among our body’s parts as that which defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell... no one among mankind can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people, who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way.” (James 3:6-10).
How can the same mouth that praises God also curse, lie, slander, gossip, and do all kinds of evil? It “should not be this way” as Christ said. Stop using your tongue for blessings and curses; let your tongue be used only for what is holy. Instead of evil, use your tongue to edify and build up your brothers and sisters in Christ; let your tongue be used to proclaim His kingdom.
In a world where sin is revered, let the world know you have been set apart from it by taking a stand for holiness and righteousness.

June, 22 (Morning) Devotion
“He shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory.”
Zechariah 6:13
Christ himself is the builder of his spiritual temple, and he has built it on the mountains of his unchangeable affection, his omnipotent grace, and his infallible truthfulness. But as it was in Solomon’s temple, so in this; the materials need making ready. There are the “Cedars of Lebanon,” but they are not framed for the building; they are not cut down, and shaped, and made into those planks of cedar, whose odoriferous beauty shall make glad the courts of the Lord’s house in Paradise. There are also the rough stones still in the quarry, they must be hewn thence, and squared. All this is Christ’s own work. Each individual believer is being prepared, and polished, and made ready for his place in the temple; but Christ’s own hand performs the preparation-work. Afflictions cannot sanctify, excepting as they are used by him to this end. Our prayers and efforts cannot make us ready for heaven, apart from the hand of Jesus, who fashioneth our hearts aright.
As in the building of Solomon’s temple, “there was neither hammer, nor axe, nor any tool of iron, heard in the house,” because all was brought perfectly ready for the exact spot it was to occupy—so is it with the temple which Jesus builds; the making ready is all done on earth. When we reach heaven, there will be no sanctifying us there, no squaring us with affliction, no planing us with suffering. No, we must be made meet here—all that Christ will do beforehand; and when he has done it, we shall be ferried by a loving hand across the stream of death, and brought to the heavenly Jerusalem, to abide as eternal pillars in the temple of our Lord.
“Beneath his eye and care,
The edifice shall rise,
Majestic, strong, and fair,
And shine above the skies.”

A Word, A Thought... What are you Doing and Thinking?
A Word, A Thought… What are you Doing and Thinking?
My friend Wendy’s favorite verses go to the heart of Christian living. She has chosen these two verses to guide her. Knowing Wendy and the opposition she has faced from unbelievers, they are perfect and have given her courage and direction as she seeks to live each day for Christ. Ephesians 4:29 “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits…

edification my god I’ve been following it since chapter 2 maybe and now everytime I tweet “I need to be sedated” my friends just know there was an update, I love sub eddie and ur dom steve but truly just your interpretations of the characters is so on point it kind of makes me hysterical? like there’s the sex aspects (hot hot hot!) but the self loathing and the coming apart and the (hopefully… eventually) coming together means so much? Eddie & Steve kind of feel like when you stitch up a rip in the wrong way, like yes it’s going to hold for the time being but you’re gonna have to do rip that all out if you want something that lasts. and this recent chapter, holy shit, your authors note abt how Steve does like Eddie he just has such an immense amount of self-loathing, I feel like it’s such an integral part of Steve’s character that can be overlooked, it doesn’t matter how good he thinks you are, it’s about how bad he thinks he is. Like, he’s Steve Harrington, he thinks he ruins everything he touches, he’s a wounded child inside. But I just. Wow. I love edification like hook line and sinker, truly, but I read double layup too and I was just as captivated (for different reasons!) so what I’m trying to say is I’m so excited for everything you’re going to put out like truly, such a great writer!
ANON IM SOBBING. Thank you SO much for this comment. Little known fact: im deeply insecure when it comes to my writing and take it incredibly seriously, which is sometimes a downfall, especially when it comes to fanfiction. Edification has become kind of my study of their characters, despite starting out as a “lol what if they fucked” idea.
Your notes about Steve in particular make me happy, because its so true. Fanon Steve is a sweet angel babygirl, whereas canon Steve is a deeply flawed, but ultimately good person (which I’m not knocking- I love canon divergence as much as the next person, especially bc all my upcoming fics have trans non-binary eddie).
Edification has a happy end, I promise. They do end up together, and chapter ten is the sweetness that wraps it all up. But we have two more chapters of hurt until they get there. After Edification comes my new fic, Total Knockout, which is like a reward for surviving Edification. Smut, fluff, and romance.
This was a long reply but anyways THANK YOU THANK YOU

• What Are the Dead Works?
Dead works bring separation between a believer and God. THEY are the works of the flesh mentioned and listed in Galatians 5:19-21.
 I. Sexual Sin or Immorality:
Adultery, Fornication, Uncleanness, and Lasciviousness or lewdness are classified as sexual sins.
EXAMPLES: REUBEN slept with his father's wife (Genesis 35:22).
AND because of it, the father cursed him when he was about to die that he would not Excel. Thus, the tribe of Reuben happened to be one of the least tribes in Israel (Genesis 49:3,4).
SAMSON also lost the anointing of God on his life and his ministry because of the Sin of immorality (Judges 16:1,4).
IF this Sin is found in your Life, it can affect your relationship with God and hinder the fulfilment of whatever God has ordained you to be and assigned you to do.
 II. Idolatry:
Putting your affection on someone or something above God. Whatever HAS taken the place of God in your heart has become another God, and It is an idol.
GOD has reserved a place for Himself in the heart of every human being and the place should not be occupied by any other person or THING.
 37. Jesus said to him, “ ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’
38. THIS IS THE FIRST AND GREAT COMMANDMENT.”
Matthew 22:37,38 (NKJV)
 READ: Psalm 115:3-8;135:15–18.
III. Witchcraft:
A dictionary defines witchcraft as the use of magic powers, especially the evil ones.
WITCHCRAFT is among the things condemned and classified as a work of the flesh. GOD CONDEMNED divination and magic, or sorcery in every FORM. The practice of it is repeatedly condemned in the law of Moses, it should be totally forbidden (Leviticus 19:26), AND it attracted death penalty (Exodus 22:18; Leviticus 20:27).
Consulting mediums, who contact the dead, is also forbidden, carrying a death sentence (Leviticus 20:6,27; Isaiah 8:19).
Saul was guilty of consulting a medium to contact Samuel (1 Samuel 1:28), even though Saul had banished all mediums from the land.
IN the New Testament, Simon, a sorcerer in Samaria, was rebuked by Peter for attempting to buy the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:9-24). Paul and Silas encountered a slave girl at Philippi who has a demonic power of foretelling the future (Acts 16:16-26).
The Bible consistently condemns the practice of divination and magic, or sorcery. They are condemned because the source is often demonic and practitioners are trying to circumvent God, they want to find a way of avoiding God and His rules, to find guidance for the future.
BELIEVERS would do well to HEED biblical injunctions against astrology, fortune-telling, and mediums.
IN ADDITION TO IT, Witchcraft being one of the works of the flesh could also mean a way of manipulating or controlling others against their WILL.
IF you are a believer who likes to manipulate and control others that you may have your way, it is an act of witchcraft, you need to repent. SOME like using what they have, to manipulate others, compel or coerce others, to do whatever they want or wish, such is an act of witchcraft.
