I love it when supernatural powers come with a price. A real, painful price. The art is pretty nice. The main character is weird at first, but when you follow her through the story she starts to make more sense. Her revenge has been in the making for thirteen years. She can't give up.

Yeju was a sad little girl with too much responsibility. Her little brother Dokyung really adores her, but they were both children. Yeju didn't know how to take care of him. Their parents were always away saving the world. Then disaster strikes.

Yeju and Dokyung learn how to use their supernatural powers while their parents are away. They can both see writing on people. When the recite the writing people who are sick get better. They do it lots in secret, because they like helping people.

Yeju finds a cat with writing on it. She saves him and bandages him up. She's very stressed taking care of her brother alone. The kitty is her only comfort. She wants to live with Kitty and her brother forever.

Shaman Kwon notices how powerful the twins are, so he curses them. Kitty also dissappears. Yeju decides to stop helping people. She stops trusting people. Kwon curses her brother with a horrible fate. Dokyung is forced to spend half his life inside his sister's shadow...literally. He turns into a shadow spirit. That's...not a life. Dokyung attempts to end his life after several depressing years as a shadow.

Yeju must killed the powerful Shaman to save her brother from half a life. It's the only way to reverse such a strong spell.

Kitty was not a kitty. He is the heir to the tigar shapeshifter clan. His father was a peaceful man who wasn't interested in power, so he was assassinated. Heewu loved his father very much.

His mother did too, but she goes crazy after his death. She forces Heewu to train. She starves him when he refuses. Yeju found him after he ran away. I assume the Shaman cursed him and left him to die because of his potential power as well.

Yeju is his first love and savior. His mother steals him back, and he assumes that Yeju was killed because the Shaman came after him. He pretends to be a good tiger heir, but he only cares about getting revenge for his dead savior. The guilt eats him up.

They don't recognize each other, but Heewu thinks Yeju is pretty. This is the most annoying part of the series. They should have recognized each other right away. Heewu wants to steal her tiger bone sword to kill the Shaman. She only has it because she became the spirit guardian of the south. The previous guardian liked her, but nobody else does. She's too obsessed with revenge. The mountain servants that she was supposed to inherit abandoned her. So she's like a vigilante spirit warrior instead of a proper guardian.

Little brother doesn't like Heewu at first, which makes sense because Heewu is unhinged. There's some good fight scenes and still no clues about the Shaman.

Romance develops instead.

Heewu is a very submissive yandere. After he recognizes Yeju he slaughters a bunch of hell hounds for her. Nobody is supposed to know about Dokyung's condition, because it's a curse and stuff. Yeju decides to trust her beloved Kitty. Heewu kisses her ass for ten chapters and then we see hell.

Listen.

Yeju hates her powers. She took the position of guardian to get a sword to kill the Shaman. Her amazing cursed script removal powers come at a cost. If it's a powerful curse every symbol must be carved into her skin to dispel it.

Yeju tells Heewu to do it. He carves the curse in and in the process they save a child in desperate need.

It feels good to help people again, but Heewu has a little breakdown. Yeju is his only reason for living. They cuddle and Yeju says she loves him...not as a servant but romantically. She's says that without him she wouldn't have enough courage to save others.

They kiss and there's a season two that isn't fully translated yet. (FEB. 3. 2023)

The Script reminds me a lot of Dreaming Freedom but in all the good ways. Good story and characters, a white haired almost dog like male lead who is very interested in the main character, a cool female lead... The story for this webcomic is very unique as it revolves around the use of curses and scripts and is generally pretty unique in terms of world building. Still, if I had a nickle for every white haired yandere boy with abandonment issues and a cool female lead...

The story is about Yeju, a girl who can see script- curses that are written on others that people can't see. She and her brother Dokyung at a young age were visited by someone in a dream, which afterwards they were able to see the "scripts" on people. Trying to be good people and following in the footsteps on their parents, the two of them try to undo as many scripts as they can. Yeju also adopts a white cat during this time, but unfortunately he leaves, leaving her feeling abandoned. Unfortunately, this comes to ahead when one day they are cursed by a powerful Shaman that turns her brother into Yeju's shadow during the night. She travels to meet the Guardian of the South to try to undo the curse, only to learn that the only way to get rid of the curse is to kill the shaman Kihaw Kwon. Yeju eventually becomes the Guardian of the South after her death, and meets Heewu, who tries to steal the tiger blades, the weapons fable to be one of the only things to kill a Shaman. Heewu seems enamored by Yeju, claims to also want to kill Kihaw Kwon and is the next heir to the tiger clan, one of the different clans that are adept in shapeshifting and scripts. Yeju continues her duties (or I guess refusing her duties) on the mountain as she tries to figure out what to do while they recount how difficult their life is, especially for Dokyung who is forced to become a shadow at night. Despite Yeju's attempts to stay away from Heewu, he persistently tries to get near Yeju, at least until he goes up to the mountain to meet Yeju. Yeju ends up subduing Heewu for trespassing and ties him up. Heewu reveals that he is the cat that Yeju took care of when she was younger, as well as his backstory. He was raised in the Tiger Clan happily until his father died, leading to his mother taking over and training him brutally. He ended up running away and living with Yeju but was forcefully taken away from her before she could say goodbye. Now that he's back, the two of them get into a relationship, and we also see Yeju's part of the curse, that she can't get rid of curses anymore but only take them onto her own body, something that she's able to ask Heewu to help with. All seems well and good until the Tiger Clan attacks (haha, see what I did there) her mountain in an attempt to take back Heewu. Yeju makes Heewu go back, as she feels its selfish to keep with him.

We also get a backstory on Kihaw Kwon and more insight into how Yeju got her powers in the first place. Kwon took in a disciple that was prophesized to grow stronger and more powerful than she was, as even from a young age, the disciple would be able to undo scripts that were difficult for even the strongest of shamen. Jealous of this, Kihaw ended up cursing her disciple, and ended up cursing Yeju and Dokyung because they were able to undo her curses.

As a warning, I will probably end up comparing The Script and Dreaming Freedom a lot not because I think they're the same but because I read them almost back to back and can't unsee the similarities. Again, they are both their own stories with their own art styles, but I can't really unsee the similarities between them.

I really like The Script's world building. The idea of having words written on someone as a curse is a fun idea, along with the ghosts and other things going on makes it a pretty spiritual feeling as you read it. I do wish they had more scenes of them going out and doing more of undoing scripts, but it's understandable given what Yeju's curse entails.

Yeju as a protagonist is pretty strong, both in terms of power and just in personality. While she seems more standoffish and a bit cruel initially, we do find out why she has to be this way, as it also affects her own health if she were to do her job. She's prideful, but she slowly learns to lean against Heewu and have others help her. Much like Jeongmin though, it does turn out that their yandere keeps a lot of secrets from them, though is also willing to use him if needs be in situations. She is pretty cool and she's doing her best, though if she will be able to kill Kihaw Kwon only time can tell. As much as it's nice to see Heewu and Yeju's relationship, I do wish they spent more time on her other relationships with the people she must take care of on the mountain, especially her brother Dokyung- which while they establish the hardships they had in the beginning- kind of takes a backseat. It's kind of unfortunate though because it would be nice to see a strong sibling relationship (at least I think it would be because I love good sibling relationships) since while establishing Heewu and Yeju's relationship, they kind of just throw the others to the wayside. Hopefully in the future, it will also focus on the other characters and Yeju's relationship because it feels a bit lacking.

Heewu as a yandere seems initially really suspicious to both the audience and Yeju, but it's clear that he has extremely strong devotion towards her. Heewu has had a pretty bad life since his father died, with his mother training him in harsh conditions to be the next head of the Tigers. He gains a strong devotion towards Yeju when she saves him as a tiger cub and comes to protect her when he grows up. He's willing to do whatever Yeju wants him to do, including keeping him in the mountains and even inscribing her name onto him, causing great pain when interacting with other Tiger members. He's strong enough to break free and does, but still feigns being captured just to stay by her side. Much like Siyoon, he has a more powerful presence in a lot of ways but decides to devote himself to his love, though in this case, it's also tied in with his vengeance against the family and not wanting to go back. The two of them develop a relationship rather fast in my opinion, though I suppose considering that Yeju was able to become more vulnerable with Heewu, it was a good development. He basically killed about 100 people in the clan to prove he's a suitable heir just so he could see Yeju again, so if that isn't devoting than I don't know what is. He has a bit of a playful personality as well, though really wants to have Yeju's attention much like a dog (and much like Siyoo- sorry I can't stop comparing them I'm not doing it on purpose). There are also some minor moments where he does get jealous when she's talking to another guy (as per usual in these yandere genres), but the story itself proves his strong devotion and love towards Yeju.

I do kind of wish they expanded more on the script system and the more spiritual world. They talk a lot about the different shapeshifting tribes and mention that ghosts/spirits do exist (and are fed/bribed a special type of candy for information) but doesn't explain really why they end up being ghosts in the first place. I do like learning about Kihaw Kwon's past though- how her jealousy towards her own disciple caused the events of this story to occur and why she ended up cursing Yeju and her brother as well.

That being said, The Script is a very good story and I really enjoyed it. The main and yandere characters have good chemistry with each other and it's nice to have a unique concept for a story that really gives a sense of it's world. If you enjoyed Dreaming Freedom, you'll likely enjoy this one as well.

haneul was playing as a fellow alien that was sent to earth earlier than vernon, dokyeom, and woozi’s characters. he’s mar tian’s (jun) best friend and mar tian doesn’t know that he’s also an alien. his age is unknown and his name is kang dokyung, a name that he had to come up with before coming to earth to blend in with the humans. although, he is implied to be the same age as mar tian, 14 years old. his alien quirk is to make weird, grumbling noises??? deong gideok (woozi) says that it has been his habit ever since they were on their former planet 😁

Apesar da briga judicial pela guarda do garoto, a separação dos pais não afetou nem um pouco a vida do rapaz, com uma grande habilidade para o kitesurf e uma boa quantia em dinheiro para gastar em festas, estar rodeado de amigos e aproveitar a vida eram o suficiente para esquecer os problemas extra conjugais dos progenitores; ignorando completamente os poderes, foi só ao conhecer outros semideuses que já faziam parte de seu círculo de amizade que Jihoon se interessou pelas habilidades herdadas de seu suposto pai. Aos dezessete anos e sem saber controlar os próprios poderes, seguir um pequeno grupo em uma viagem até a austrália foi o começo do infortúnio do coreano, os semideuses passaram a ser caçados por harpias e o que parecia ser uma brincadeira se tornou um grande pesadelo.

A ideia inicial era encontrar o acampamento onde seriam protegidos, até onde sabia, kosmogonie era um lugar pacífico e seguro; mas o plano acabou sendo destruído quando as criaturas encurralaram o rapaz e outros semideuses antes que pudessem atravessar o portal mais próximo. O trauma de ver um por um de seus amigos serem feridos até a morte fez com que Jihoon atravessasse o portal sozinho sem dar qualquer notícia aos pais que o procuram até os tempos atuais.

PODERES:

Regeneração Eólica: O corpo do filho de Éolo consegue se recuperar instantaneamente de ferimentos diversos, já que está sempre em contato com seu elemento dominante, quase nunca sofrendo com hemorragias ou ossos quebrados. A habilidade é ineficaz contra venenos e ferimentos fatais.

Mestre do Ar: O filho de Éolo é capaz de controlar à vontade o ar e os ventos, usando-os como poderosas ferramentas, ele é capaz de manipulá-lo para uma série de funções, como esmagar seres e objetos aumentando a pressão do ar e reduzir a resistência do ar para causar efeitos como o aumento da própria velocidade. O semideus também pode gerar uma corrente de ar focada que pode cortar pedra ou madeira com relativa facilidade. Como não é capaz de gerar o elemento por conta própria, depende das correntes de ar no ambiente.

Sopro das Estações: Alguns dos ventos de Éolo também eram aliados das Deusas das Estações. Por isso, sempre que sua prole lutar ao lado de filhos de Perséfone, Despina ou Deméter, terá suas habilidades e resistências triplicadas de potência.

Encantar Armas: Os ventos são conhecidos pelo seu poder destrutivo e seu amplo poder de corte. Então, as proles de Éolo podem adicionar em armas, (sejam suas ou não) o elemento vento, deixando pontas de flechas, dardos e até mesmo lâminas de espadas mais afiadas, podendo atravessar ou cortar o mais resistente dos materiais sem dificuldade alguma. O encantamento tem duração de duas horas.

Olhos da Tormenta: Quando em um estado de raiva ou fúria, os olhos e cabelos da prole de Éolo são tomados por uma coloração cinzenta, como uma nuvem tempestuosa. Enquanto nessa forma, qualquer ativa usada pelo semideus será lançada duas vezes, no entanto, o gasto de energia também será dobrado.

Asfixia: O filho de Éolo consegue agora manipula o fluxo de ar dentro do sistema respiratório do oponente, extraindo-o dos pulmões através das narinas e da boca, e impede qualquer nova entrada de ar formando uma bola de ar ao redor a cabeça durante 10 minutos.

Ar Condensado: O semideus pode pegar uma grande quantidade de ar e condensar numa pequena espiral do tamanho de uma bola de golfe. Essa espiral quando arremessada se expande ao entrar em contato com o alvo, desferindo contra o mesmo milhares de cortes por segundo, causando vários ferimentos de médio e grande porte. Ao inalar essa composição, o alvo além de ficar intoxicado, perderá toda e qualquer habilidade de regeneração que tenha, ficando bastante vulnerável. O processo é naturalmente reversível, porém quanto maior a quantidade de ar inalado, mais demorada é a recuperação.

Cúpula Eólica: O semideus gera nuvens negras de tempestade que tomam todo o ambiente em volta do alvo até circundá-lo por completo. Logo, tais nuvens começam a girar e formar uma cúpula, prendendo o oponente no centro. O domo em si é capaz de regenerar-se, portanto, toda vez que o alvo tenta danificá-lo, ele acaba voltando ao seu estágio inicial. Two chapters isn’t really enough to get a good idea of how good a story is, but honestly those two chapters didn’t really grip me. Granted, I didn’t even get to the part where Dokyung revealed her intelligence, so maybe it gets better.

In his seventh year since debut, SF9 Jaeyoon has been busier than ever.Starting with the first musical 'Founded', 'Another Miss Oh'!', 'Seopyeonje', theatre play 'Fantasy Tale', he encountered many firsts.

He was unfamiliar with the tasks he was given but there was no reason to avoid it.

As expected; the fragments of the raw material before these new challenges, as well were refined with his hard work and talent, and this sculpture became an important part in defining Jaeyoon.

In addition, the time spent practicing singing alone in the basement practice room served as another opportunity to convince his formula that "your efforts never betray you."

The time and effort he has experienced as an SF9 and as a musical actor seems like a warp and weft.

Like how the warp and weft threads are woven together, in short and long lines to create a pattern, which eventually has three-dimensionality and how the repeated actions strengthen the knot.

It's like the world his steady steps created.

Aku baru aja tamat nonton drama Korea yang judulnya "Another Miss Oh" (2016). Ini drakor romantic comedy perdana setelah 2 tahun aku bener-bener menutup diri dari hal yang berhubungan dengan romance, kalo pun nonton aku gak mau terlalu menggunakan perasaanku untuk mencerna adegannya. Ya karena 2 tahun belakangan ini aku rusak karena masalah cinta. Butuh recovery yang sangat intensif dan bahkan aku hampir kehilangan diriku sendiri. Cuma karena “cinta”.

Hingga akhirnya aku rasa akhir-akhir ini aku siap untuk membuka diri dengan hal-hal berbau “cinta”, mulai dari hal ringan ya contohnya nonton si drakor ini. Ceritanya cukup ringan, ditambah bumbu komedi yang bikin aku ketawa beberapa kali. Aku seneng mengetahui aku sudah sepulih itu karena aku bisa menangis maupun tertawa bahagia sesuai alur ceritanya, yang mengindikasikan aku sudah lebih bebas mengekspresikan emosiku. Semua emosiku jujur pas nonton film ini, tidak ada unsur denial. Semuanya aku rasain, termasuk di bagian dimana aku bisa relate.

Garis besarnya, drama ini menitikberatkan pada masalah yang dialami dua karakter utamanya, Oh Haeyoung dan Park Dokyung yang sama-sama di ghosting pasangan mereka menjelang hari pernikahan mereka. Ya lumayan ketebak sih alurnya dimana kedua tokoh ini pun bertemu, adu nasib, saling relate, eh kesengsem. Tapi bukan itu yang jadi fokusku di sini. Jauh sebelum kedua tokoh ini bisa saling jatuh cinta, mereka mengalami patah hati luar biasa karena ditinggal tanpa kejelasan oleh mantan kekasih mereka, dan perlu recovery yang panjang untuk hal itu. Dan aku bisa relate hal tersebut dari drama ini.

Salah satu original sound track dari drama ini, judulnya “If It is You” yang dinyanyiin sama Jung Seung Hwan, liriknya sangat menyayat hari. Kurang lebih ini part dimana aku selalu pengen nangis tiap dengernya (di translate ke bahasa Inggris biar lebih nampol artinya):

If it were you, how would it be?

If those tough days became yours

If you were as lonely as me

And you were broken down, would you know

That my heart is about to burst

It's filled up with the pain

And how much I want to be with you?

If I were you, I would just love me

Ya, inilah hal dimana aku bisa relate.

Sebagai seseorang yang pernah mengalami ghosting seperti yang dialami tokoh utama drama ini, aku hanya bisa tersenyum dan mengelus dada. Seakan terbawa ke masa lalu, bernostalgia ke masa itu. Aku ditinggal oleh seseorang yang sangat aku butuhkan di saat aku dalam titik terburukku. Bahkan chat terakhirku untuk orang tersebut adalah “wish you were here”. Sesimple itu aku butuh kehadirannya di sampingku, tapi dia gak mampu. Sakitku cukup berat sampe perlu sekitar 2 tahun untuk bisa pulih. Rasanya syok, bingung, sakit, sedih, marah, kecewa, semuanya aku alami sendiri. Titik terberatnya adalah aku sampe harus ngalamin kehilangan kesadaran, brain fog parah sampe mengakibatkan kecelakaan di jalan dan akhirnya punya luka permanen di lutut dan cedera kecil di sendi lutut (aku jadi gak bisa berdiri terlalu lama sejak itu). Lucu menyadari cuma hanya karena cinta yang harusnya jadi hal yang manis, bisa separah dan sesakit ini.

Hari-hari berubah jadi pelan rasanya. Aku pernah cuma bisa diem di kamarku, hanya natap plafon rumah dengan pikiran kosong. Aku selalu mimpi orang yang sama tiap malem dan itu hanya buat aku nangis di pagi hari besoknya. Sempat ada masa dimana aku marah dengan bilang “Aku menyayangi sepenuh hati hanya untuk mendapat rasa sakit”, ato mempertanyakan “Kalo dia di posisiku, apa dia kuat?”. Ada rasa pengen mati? Oh tentu ada. Bukannya berlebihan, aku saat itu hanya berpikir tentang gimana caranya supaya tidak berulang-ulang merasakan sakit seperti ini. Susah rasanya menjalani hidup dengan keadaan seperti ini.

Hingga serangkaian kejadian muncul yang bikin aku pelan-pelan pulih. Aku ketemu orang-orang yang bantu aku untuk pulih. Aku yang saat itu sudah merasa worthless akut pelan-pelan jadi bisa menghargai diriku sendiri. Dan setelah proses character development yang panjang, terbentuklah mindset “aku layak untuk orang yang memilih dan menerima aku.” Jadi aku sesimple itu mikir kalo seseorang sayang aku, dia akan berusaha tanpa aku harus mengemis, dan kalo dia tidak berusaha ya artinya gak layak untuk aku.

Ternyata bener ya, ketika kita udah pulih, kita jadi gak nyalahin siapa-siapa lagi, tapi hanya berfokus ke diri sendiri dan tidak terlalu bergantung dengan siapapun. Saat ini aku gak nyalahin orang yang ninggalin aku, maybe it’s just his inability of accepting me. And I gotta realize that it shouldn’t affect my worth of accepting love. Dan aku pun juga pegang baik-baik perkataan “dibalik sebuah penolakan, ada penerimaan yang lebih baik”. Amin. Setelah ini akan ada penerimaan dari yang lebih baik, maka dari itu aku jadi punya semangat untuk hidup lebih lama, menjadi orang yang lebih baik, sehingga layak mendapat penerimaan yang lebih baik.
