Dogblr, I've got a genuine question for thee:
We're travelling in Slovenia for our belated holidays and since we arrived, despite crossing a lot of dogs and owners... not a single one let theirs socialise with Kim.
I'm trying to understand if it's something cultural, as in Italy the custom is to let your dog greet other dogs you might cross in your walk (that unless your dog requires space or you want to avoid an interaction with a specific dog of course).
While here in Slovenia people even changed sidewalk in order to avoid us, despite both dogs being pretty eager to socialise and not showing any red flag for aggression.
So, is it normal here to just avoid socialisation between dogs? Or one just avoids the dog they don't know?

To the Best Traveling Companion: Rocky
To the best traveling companion
It has taken me a while to write this article, but I thought I would approach it from a manner of celebrating and honouring the life of Rocky the Traveller.
He was the one who inspired me to create this site and all our social media channels.
Back in November 2023, Rocky passed away at the age of 15 years and 3 months as he fought a tough fight against a terrible…

What should I pack for my dog on a trip?

Are you braving the wilderness or cozying up in a city hotel? Tailoring your list to your travel style and your dog’s temperament is key to a paw-sitive experience.

Teaching a puppy to understand English can be a rewarding experience that enhances communication between you and your furry friend. Here are seven tips to help you achieve this:
Consistency is Key: Use the same words consistently for commands. For example, if you want your puppy to sit, always use the word "sit" rather than switching between "sit," "down," or "park it."
Short and Simple Commands: Keep commands short and easy to understand. Puppies have short attention spans, so clear, concise commands like "sit," "stay," and "come" are ideal.
Positive Reinforcement: Use positive reinforcement techniques such as treats, praise, and affection when your puppy responds correctly to a command. This helps reinforce the association between the word and the action.
Associate Words with Actions: Pair verbal commands with physical gestures or actions to help your puppy understand what you want them to do. For example, when teaching "sit," gently press their backside down as you say the command.
Training Sessions: Keep training sessions short and frequent. Puppies have limited attention spans, so aim for multiple short sessions throughout the day rather than one long session.
Patience and Persistence: Be patient and consistent in your training efforts. It may take time for your puppy to understand and respond to commands consistently. Stay positive and persistent, and celebrate small victories along the way.
Gradual Progression: Start with basic commands like "sit," "stay," and "come," then gradually introduce more advanced commands as your puppy learns and progresses. Building a strong foundation with basic commands will make it easier to teach more complex behaviors later on.
With this book in a few weeks, I was able to understand my puppy and within a month, my puppy was able to understand English, you can get the book HERE.
