The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People were like one step away from being more than just a plot twist and I’m forever bitter.
The bad guys are clones who have all the memories of the people they’re copies of and want to be those people and seen as people.
Who on 11’s tardis team went through something a little tangential to that?
RORY!
and I know his centurion days are kinda hand waved away but come on. He’s got the memories of his robot copy. OF COURSE he’d be the most sympathetic to the gangers.
can i just put out there in the world i'm very much enjoying matt smith's interpretation of the doctor ??
ever since the final episodes of s5 i feel like he's in his element and he's much more fun to watch ~ i also adore his deliberate reading (and acting) of the doctor's asexuality <3 and his relationship with the ponds is so genuine and hilarious !!
i'm at halfway through s6 and i think the writing has been a bit darker so far, but he's doing a great job ~
i don't know if ultimately he's going to be my fav doctor (i honestly don't think so - but never say never!), still i'm very curious to see what will come in the next episodes ^^
ps. i just came across a post saying it's matt smith's bday today so happy birthday eleventh doctor !!
pps. i don't think I've watched the episode the gif is taken from, but it's so cute i had to include it in the post uwu
- love that amy has to put the hat on before she could rescue rory and the doctor
- uh oh rory
- the black spot like in horrible histories
- uh oh eye patch lady
- classic tale of greed
- uh oh rory
- ayyy he’s back
- always almost dying with this guy
- 18th century pirates on a space ship, this rules
s6 ep4 the doctor’s wife
- OOD!!
- i thought we weren’t allowed to leave the universe
- he better not marry the human tardis, that better not be where this going
- NEIL GAIMAN?! what are you doing in my falafel?!
- oh god he kissed the tardis
- nom
- what is he doing
- jfc rory turned into colin morgan at the end of merlin
- he is the pretty one
- aww the old control room
- rip the tardis
s6 ep5 the rebel flesh and s6 ep6 the almost people
- didn’t liveblog bc i was watching it with my friend who hasn’t seen doctor who. we both agreed that in their positions we simply would have befriended our clones
as i'm heading into s6 of doctor who i'm so aware that like. river is such a solid character. & i worry that w/ the way people have been criticising chibnall So much i might not even be able to tell whether yaz was written well or not -- whether, to "proper" dw fans i'd be dawdling around not saying true things if i liked yaz or the way she was written or apparently hadn't been watching long enough to make an educated decision. idk. sometimes i just wish fanbases were a bit kinder in between the whole new & old viewers </3 so here's hoping i fucking love river song -- and while i'm at it, i'll see if i love yasmin khan just as much. i think i can make that decision <3
wait so… in “the almost people”, considering the reveal at the end that the doctors had actually swapped places, that means it was the real doctor who pushed amy against the wall (when she literally says “you’re hurting me”), right ????? does that not feel really, really, REALLY out of character… ???? 🤨
to be fair, amy *was* being very horrible and prejudiced, and did deserve somebody snapping at her but idk… i could see him being severely disappointed + critical of her, but the doctor never physically hurts *ANYONE* really (we don’t even see him physically hurt the enemies very often), so it’s incredibly jarring to see him physically hurt his companion/current best friend ???????
[also, i know he *had* also just had his death confirmed by amy, as she thought she was telling the flesh doctor, so he absolutely was not in the healthiest or best of minds hahaha, still felt weird to see though!]
like if i was amy i would’ve been soooooooooo sad + confused the moment i found out it was the real doctor LOL she deserved his anger, but not being physically hurt 😳😳 she’s stronger than me bro i’d be SOBBING
you MUST keep the same doctor and companion but you can change the storyline however you want. also no s10 bc i can only fit 12 options and i know my audience
What? A mysterious summons. You think I'm just going to go? Who sent those messages? I know you know. I can see it in your faces. Don't play games with me. Don't ever, ever think you're capable of that.
“fear me, i’ve killed hundreds of time lords.” / “fear me. i’ve killed all of them.” 11 is soooooo so so complex to me. outwardly he’s one of the goofiest ones, probably the goofiest nuwho doctor. he loves a good fez, is obsessed with bow ties, has questionable taste in food. but his anger… 11’s anger is cold. it’s vengeful. 9 and 10 were angry, yes, but they burned in their rage. the war isn’t fresh anymore like it was for 9, or he barely healed during 10 but 11 compartmentalises and it’s quite deadly honestly
A Good Man Goes to War is not only one of the best episodes Doctor Who has ever done, it may very well be one of the best pieces of television period, and is one of the best deconstructions and subversions of the 'man avenges woman by making it all about him and his anger' trope and tells it succinctly to fuck right off.
