Duggar-Dillard #3 Baby Name Reaction
Admittedly I’m very behind, but Jill and Derick welcomed their third son, Frederick Michael Dillard on July 7, 2022. He joins big brothers Israel David Dillard and Samuel Scott Dillard. How close was I to predicting the name? Spoiler alert: not that close but that’s okay!
I, and many others, predicted that this baby’s name would either begin with an A, end with -el, or both, due to the Dillard’s previous naming trends. While I was wrong, I am honestly relieved. This opens up many more possibilities for any other future children than if they had stuck to theme. Frederick was not anywhere on any of my lists, but I really like the way they chose to honor both Derick and his dad. I did expect them to honor Rick in some way, I just thought it would probably be with the middle name. Michael was one of my finalists for middle names though! While it wasn’t my number one guess, I will take that as a victory!
Congrats Jill and Derick! Glad to have a healthy baby and mom.

Jennie: "W...what happened to me?"
Mariah: "You went a little off the rails. That's all. We got you back, girl."
Jennie: "I felt so much...hate. I wanted to destroy everything."
Mariah: "Ain't no more hate here--just love. Don't make me bust out into my favorite jam from the Lion King."
Power Man and Iron Fist vol. 3 #4 by David Walker, Sanford Greene, Lee Loughridge, and Clayton Cowles
One of the great joys of this series, and something that writer David Walker discussed quite a bit in interviews at the time it was being published, is the way that large numbers of under-used and forgotten characters (including some very goofy D-level villains from the 70s) were brought back into the spotlight and given a bit more depth, personality, and humanity. One character in particular is Mariah "Black Mariah" Dillard, who first appeared in Luke Cage: Hero For Hire #5 and made a mere handful of appearances in that series and in Power Man and Iron Fist volume 1 before largely disappearing from the Marvel Universe. Here, 40 years later, she reappears as a new friend to Heroes for Hire's former office manager Jennie Royce, who in this series is finally released from prison following the events of Power Man and Iron Fist volume 2.
When this new dynamic duo's quest for power goes awry and Jennie gets corrupted by a magical artifact, it's Mariah's love for her that saves the day. This scene encapsulates something this series does so well: melding heart and humor in a celebration of shared humanity and connection. Jennie and Mariah's friendship, while established solely for this series, ends up feeling very special, especially when placed alongside the love between Luke and Danny that anchors the comic.

Yeah, nobody asks Riley to sit at the table; some because they don't know her, some because they know her too well.
Here comes Lauri again. Riley is so fed up with her, and she still doesn't know that she's the one who will be taking her place at the dorm.
Everyone is enjoying the dinner, mainly because they were starving.
Riley doesn't enjoy anything that isn't about her. Lauri on the other hand, seems to be having the time of her life.
Riley: (To herself) Ugh, I wish this loser would just go away already.
Sorry Riley, but the party's just getting started for Lori… in every possible way.

Jill (Dillard) is due July 23rd per her Amazon registry
New Information: Jill Might Be Due On July 23rd.
Interesting! Baby Registries have proven a fairly reliable source for Due Dates, in the past. For example, Amazon Registries for Addison, Bella, Garrett, Layla, and Truett, just to name a few, all listed Due Dates that were later confirmed by other sources. (This is in contrast to Duggar Wedding Registries, which almost always list phony dates.)
That said... At this point, there’s nothing to “confirm” this registry is legitimate. Jill hasn’t, e.g., discussed it on YouTube, or linked to it on Instagram.
Still, it’s definitely possible it’s real. One thing it has going for it is that it lists a location of “Siloam Springs, AR” which is where Jill + Derick just moved. Also, we know Jill is due in July, so July 23 is obviously a possibility.
For now, Duggar Data will pencil in July 23, 2022 as Jill’s Due Date based on this registry. I don’t consider it confirmed, yet... I’ll be keeping a close eye on the Dillard’s social media, to see if they link or refer to this registry, and on the registry itself, to see if anything gets purchased. (Especially if the purchase is followed shortly by a social media post about Jill having a baby shower.)
Thank you so much for sending this in, Anon!

Name Predictions for Duggar-Dillard #3
The couple that was the greatest influence on my decision to start this blog is Jill and Derick Dillard. I have been considering what they might name their new baby boy ever since their pregnancy was announced. I think Jill and Derick are an especially fun couple to predict for given their previously established (or at least perceived to be) patterns. With that said, there’s a lot to consider, so let’s jump right in!
Previous Naming Information
When doing my name reveals, I always like to first look at the names of any previous children a couple has and even pets, if applicable. So what do we know about Jill and Derick (and their naming style) so far? Baby Dillard #3 will make his appearance this July, joining big brothers Israel David (b. 2015) and Samuel Scott (b. 2017). In their respective years of birth, Israel ranked #240 on the Social Security Administration’s list of most popular boys’ names, David ranked #18, Samuel ranked #21, and Scott ranked #484. Additionally, the Dillards unfortunately suffered a miscarriage in October 2021, who they named River Bliss. In 2021, the name River ranked #110 for boys and #151 for girls, while Bliss was not ranked. They also have a dog named Fenna, who they adopted in February 2021.
I have seen speculation that the Dillard’s are planning to spell out the name “Israel” using the first letters of their baby names, and this tracks so far: Israel, Samuel, River. If this is the case, it allows us to assume the next baby’s name will start with an A. Another observable pattern is that Israel and Samuel both end in -el, which means “God” in Hebrew. While Jill and Derick have not explicitly said this is a pattern they are following, it may be helpful to look at names ending in or at least containing -el. While River does not follow this pattern, it is possible Jill and Derick prioritized a gender neutral name that brought them comfort over any name pattern that they might use for their living children. It’s also possible that their naming styles have just changed in the last 5 years since they had a child. We will consider all of this when evaluating some preliminary predictions. But for now, we will say that we are likely looking at a Biblical name (emphasis on Old Testament), probably beginning with A-, and possibly ending in/containing -el. For the middle name, we will look at family names., especially those on Derick’s side. Israel’s middle name, David, is the middle name of Derick’s brother, Daniel David Dillard. Samuel’s middle name, Scott, is the maiden name of Derick’s paternal grandmother, Sue Scott Dillard.
Preliminary Predictions
That was a lot of ground to cover! Let’s start by looking at A- boys’ names in the Social Security Administration’s top 500 list, since I am fairly confident about that. (I would typically do the entire top 1000, but that would make this way too long, and the latter part of the list contains largely alternate spellings of names already included).
Alexander (#13) / Alex (#194) / Alejandro (#206) / Alexis (#472)
Asher (#25)
Aiden (#26) / Ayden (#143) / Aidan (#286) / Adan (#461)
Anthony (#43) / Antonio (#178)
Andrew (#57) / Andres (#218) / Andre (#290) / Andy (#468)
Adrian (#61)
Aaron (#65)
Angel (#67) / Angelo (#316)
Axel (#76)
Austin (#96)
Adam (#104)
August (#121) / Augustus (#457)
Amir (#123)
Archer (#138) / Archie (#399)
Ashton (#147)
Atlas (#149)
Adriel (#154)
Arthur (#155)
Ace (#156)
Arlo (#190)
Abel (#196)
Alan (#197)
Amari (#199)
Abraham (#202)
Avery (#210)
Adonis (#223)
Atticus (#266)
Anderson (#328)
Aziel (#332)
Ali (#339) / Alijah (#407)
Ari (#342)
Armani (#369)
Apollo (#400)
Asa (#496)
Now we can look at boys’ names in the top 500 that end in the letters -el (excluding Israel and Samuel). There is some overlap, but not much!
Daniel (#16)
Michael (#17) / Miguel (#195)
Gabriel (#38)
Ezekiel (#53) / Ezequiel (#334)
Angel (#67)
Axel (#76)
Gael (#109)
Nathaniel (#133)
Adriel (#154)
Emmanuel (#191) / Manuel (#320)
Abel (#196)
Joel (#211)
Rafael (#237)
Ariel (#332)
Ismael (#351)
Leonel (#374)
Noel (#397)
Uriel (#498)
Here I was going to add a few more Biblical “A” names outside the top 500 that I thought could be a strong possibility, but the only one I think might fit is Abram.
And just for fun, some Biblical names that don’t start with A or end in -el, but that I think really fit Jill and Derick’s vibe: Canaan, Ezra, Jonah, Judah, Levi, Micah, Noah, Silas.
And what about the middle? I am predicting that Jill and Derick will again choose a family honor middle name for their third son, likely from Derick’s side (especially given Jill’s strained relationship with her own father). I think it is very likely that this son’s middle name will honor Derick’s late father, probably using his first name, Richard. Derick’s brother had a son in February 2021 named Brady Richard, but I don’t think this will necessarily stop them. Another possibility might be George, the maiden name of Derick’s mother, Cathy George Dillard. Another possibility could be Michael, which is Derick’s middle name and also related to Michelle, Jill’s middle name.
My Final Predictions
If you have stuck with me for this long, congratulations and thank you! As for my final predictions, my top choices are Abel, Adam, Andrew, Asher, and Gabriel. I do really think this name will start with A, although I am not fully convinced it will end in -el. Even though it doesn’t end in -el, I have an unshakeable feeling that Jill and Derick will choose Asher for this baby. I think it sounds really cohesive with Israel and Samuel because of the “s” and “r” sounds it contains, and is Biblical (and specifically Old Testament) like the others without being one of the “obvious” Biblical names you think of like David, Matthew, or John. Additionally, it’s meaning of “happy” or “blessed” could be especially meaningful for Jill and Derick since this is a rainbow baby.
For the middle name, my top choice is Richard. Honestly I am surprised Jill and Derick did not use it for their first two sons, given how close Derick seemed to be with his dad. George or Michael are definitely plausible options too though. My best guesses are listed below from what I think is most to least likely.
Asher Richard
Asher Michael
Asher George
Abel Richard
Abel Michael
Abel George
Andrew Richard
Adam Richard
Gabriel Richard
Levi Richard
Judah Richard
