@pentagramdesign . @marina_willer and team have created a new brand identity for @woodgreen.theanimalscharity , one of England’s leading pet charities and home to the BAFTA-nominated TV series ‘The Dog House’ which matches homeless dogs with hopeful new owners. Established in 1924, Woodgreen provides a safe haven for vulnerable pets in need of urgent care or a loving new home. It also offers expert advice and support to owners of pets, not only dogs and cats but also a range of domestic animals including rodents and chickens. At the centre of the brand identity, the team created a heartwarming symbol that captures the unbreakable bond between animals and humans—using positive and negative forms to visually represent how pets and humans are dependent on one another. The strapline ‘Helping pets and their people’ perfectly summarises the way that Woodgreen always sees the relationship from a pet’s perspective. Tone of voice works in a direct and conversational manner and is supported by simple and practical messaging to speak to owners and anyone looking to adopt a pet, providing information in a way that’s straightforward, without formalities or judgement about how they can seek support, help and care. Imagery plays an important part in the brand expression—photographs of pets are taken at eye level to place the animals centre stage. This is supported by documentary-style imagery showing the behind the scenes aspects of the charity’s work. Additionally, images feature moments between animals and humans to highlight the bond between them. @colophonfoundry’s Raisonne Pro is the primary typeface and represents a voice that can flex across Woodgreen’s different styles of communication. I had the pleasure of attending my first Society of Adventist Communicators — SAC — conventions this past month in Albuquerque, New México. This was also the first communications convention I attended as a professional and I’m so glad that God led me here! There were so many other talented as well as inspiring individuals who attended and I’m grateful to have made meaningful connections with them. The tours and workshops were led by such passionate people and I learned a ton. And to make things even better my mom and I won awards for our Roots almanac project! We are honored and humbled to have received these awards as well as look forward to possibly developing Roots into a real-world product. My first experience at SAC was one to remember. God showed me much over those few days. I’m excited to apply as well as pass on what I learned. And then we had these 3 amazing ladies closing our show. Victoria, Tomai and Natasha are breast cancer heroes and had to go through mastectomy. For those who don’t know yet, this year I met @karin_horen , who is also a breast cancer survivor, and was inspired by her story. That’s when I decided to convert most of this collection into mastectomy-friendly designs. Still the very same @auraiswimwear , but now these women can remove the padding and replace with their prosthesis!
