This year the theme for World Malaria Day is "Accelerating the fight against malaria for a more equitable world.". This theme, which is in sync with this year's World Health Day theme "My Health, My Right', underscores the urgent need to address the stark inequities that persist in access to malaria prevention, detection, and treatment services, WHO said.

Kuriba® — winning the war against Malaria
“Wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love of humanity.” — Hippocrates
Problem is an integral part of life that has made some people to be consistent in their pursuit of solutions to common problems. In the word of Betty Williams, “there's no use talking about the problem unless you talk about the solution.”
And finding a solution to any common problem is not only a way to make the world a better place for healthy living, it's also the easiest route to create wealth — lasting wealth that comes with peace of mind.
Malaria is a plasmodia disease caused by some plasmodium species such as P. falciprum, P. vivax, P. ovale etc. Female Anopheles mosquito is the vector.
A water-arthropod disease, the measures to control Malaria should among other things address the environmental factors and the mosquito vector, while effective treatment should target the plasmodium parasite or pathogen in the human body.
Malaria, a debilitating infectious disease characterized by chills, shaking, and periodic bouts of intense fever is one of the major killer disease in tropical regions of Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America.
Yes, malaria is a killer disease that has killed millions of people — and it is still killing people today, despite some great pharmaco-medical breakthroughs.
The high morbidity and mortality rates of Malaria persist because both the infecting parasite and its mosquito carrier have, to some extent, become resistant to most antimalarial and insecticides. This is where Kuriba stands out today!
What is Kuriba?
Kuriba capsule is a novel herbal remedy registered by NAFDAC for the management of feverish conditions. It is a combination therapy containing 5 different medicinal herbs with established antimalarial activities among others. Being a new product, the chances of malaria parasites becoming resistant to it, at least for now, is rare if not impossible.
Apart from having synergistic effects, the different mechanisms of action of the constituent herbs will make it very difficult for any species or strain of malaria parasite to develop resistance to it.
With Kuriba, the health profession now has additional product to fight the malaria war and curtail its menace.
However, there is need for more collaboration and research on this product, with emphasis on post marketing surveillance.
Being invented and formulated by Livy-Elcon Emereonye, a pharmacist, naturopath, herbalist, and a research fellow who also authored the book: “Malaria War — the winning strategies”, interested individuals and concerned organizations should look into this product to authenticate its potency and ensure its accessibility.
The government, in whatever capacity, should partner with the inventor and manufacturer of this product with a view to subsidize the cost and make it available to those that will benefit from it.
Kuriba capsules can be used as complementary or alternative remedy. It can also be for prophylaxis.
The possible side effects of Kuriba include GIT disturbances, nausea, and vomiting.
Kuriba capsules is proudly manufactured in Nigeria by Letonia Int'l Ltd.

Mark Your Calendars! It's World Malaria Day: Join the Fight to End a Preventable Disease!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For one day each year, the global spotlight shines on a relentless foe – malaria. But this isn't just any awareness day. World Malaria Day, observed annually on April 25th, is a rallying cry, a call to arms for scientists, communities, and individuals alike to unite against this devastating yet preventable disease. Read More: Unraveling Meningococcal Disease: What You Need to Know So, why the excitement? Because malaria, despite its staggering impact, is a disease we can conquer. Here's why World Malaria Day matters, and how you can be part of the solution.
The Enemy We Face: A Mosquito-Borne Menace
Malaria isn't a monster from a sci-fi movie; it's a parasite transmitted through the bite of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. These tiny insects carry Plasmodium parasites, which invade human red blood cells, wreaking havoc on the body. Symptoms range from flu-like chills and fever to severe complications like organ failure and coma. The story doesn't end there. Malaria disproportionately affects pregnant women and children under five, particularly in Africa, where the burden is most severe. Every year, hundreds of thousands of lives are tragically cut short by this preventable illness.
Why We Celebrate World Malaria Day
Tumblr media
Established in 2007 by the World Health Organization (WHO), World Malaria Day is a pivotal moment. It's a day to: - Raise Awareness: Shedding light on the disease and its impact is crucial. World Malaria Day sparks conversations, ignites media attention, and educates the public about prevention and treatment strategies. - Mobilize Action: This day is a catalyst for action. Governments, NGOs, and research institutions use World Malaria Day to announce new initiatives, funding commitments, and research breakthroughs. - Celebrate Progress: The fight against malaria isn't without victories. World Malaria Day is a chance to acknowledge the incredible strides made in reducing malaria cases and deaths.
The 2024 Theme: Equity is the Key
This year's theme, "Accelerating the fight against malaria for a more equitable world," underscores the importance of ensuring everyone, regardless of location or socioeconomic background, has access to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
How You Can Be a World Malaria Day Champion
Tumblr media
You might not be a scientist developing a vaccine, but that doesn't mean you can't be a part of the solution. Here are some ways to get involved: - Educate Yourself: Knowledge is power. Learn about malaria – its symptoms, transmission, and prevention methods. Share this information with friends and family. - Donate to Reputable Organizations: Numerous NGOs are working tirelessly to combat malaria. Research and choose an organization that aligns with your values, and donate what you can. - Advocate for Change: Use your voice! Contact your local representatives and urge them to support policies and funding initiatives for malaria eradication. - Spread Awareness on Social Media: Join the conversation online! Share World Malaria Day content, use relevant hashtags, and encourage others to learn more.
