My first painting on denim. This piece means so much to me.
"I will soar, then, beyond this power of my nature also, still rising by degrees toward Him who made me. And I enter the fields and spacious halls of Memory, where are stored as treasures the countless images that have been brought into them from all manner of things by the senses. There, in the memory, is likewise stored what we cogitate, either by enlarging or reducing our perceptions, or by altering one way or another those things which the senses have made contact with; and everything else that has been entrusted to it and stored up in it, which oblivion has not yet swallowed up and buried."
- Saint Augustine, Confessions
So much of who we are is made of our memory. Our perception of reality goes from being objective to subjective as we develop memories. Our experiences are held as stories that mold our minds and teach us how to survive. Memory is the basis of you becoming you.
I plan to decorate the rest of the jacket with embroidered floral details such as vines, ferns, flowers, and herbs. There seems to be a theme among humanity, no matter where we are in time or space, to associate memory with fields and gardens.

Acrylics with textile medium on a denim jacket.
My second (technically 3rd but the second was a test work for an 11 yr old girl) jacket painting that I did for my sisters 30th.
Took me about 6 hours of hyperfixation to complete it. It was going to have more details (gold highlights and corner roses) but after much umming and arring, decided to leave it clean to showcase the 3d effect of the koi.

I know I missed 1989 (Taylor's Version) release day, but I thought I'd share my 1989 collar (and a little peek at Lover 💖) from my ever in-progress Eras jacket
I love the album so much, and the vault tracks are quickly climbing my most listened to ever 💙
