Deltarune Text Project Update #3

After far too long, here’s another update to the Deltarune Text Project - 99% Complete edition!

To Recap:

- There is actually several pieces of dialogue that I have tried to get, but otherwise cannot get anymore because I don’t know the conditions, or some sort of internal data prevents me from getting it again:    - Kris’s name on 1st save file: If I remember right, this has to do with getting completion data on Chapter 1, so since I’ve finished Chapter 1 several times by now, I can no longer get this.    - Green File Select screen in Chapter 1: Essentially the same as the above.    - The last Weird Route Save Point dialogue won’t show up again, presumably because it’s already been completed once before.

There is also several pieces of battle dialogue that I’m not sure can actually be gotten, or I otherwise don’t know how to trigger them in-game:

- Rudinn:    - Rudinn is alright with not fighting. [Spare conditions met]

- Hathy:    - Hathy's beat slows. [Tired]    - Hathy is skipping beats. [Spare conditions met]

- Jigsawry:    - Jigsawry looks happy about its life. [Spare conditions met]

- Ponman:    - Ponman is sleeping soundly. [Sleepy]

- K. Round:    - K.Round looks weak. [Tired]    - K.Round's shuffle becomes lethargic. [Low HP]

- Rabbick:    - You and Ralsei warned Rabbick about Susie. The enemy went on guard... [Warned]    - Rabbick is now nice and clean. [Spare conditions met]

- Clover:    - Clover seems to be getting along with herselves. [Spare conditions met]

- Lancer 2:    - Huh? What was that? [After Susie blocks Lancer's ears from "The Final Blow of Kindness"]

- Rudinn Ranger:    - Rudinn Ranger seems totally flattered. [Spare conditions met]

- Head Hathy:    - Head Hathy blocked the way! [Encounter]    - Head Hathy's beat slows. [Tired]    - Head Hathy is skipping beats. [Spare conditions met]

- Jevil:    - JEVIL got more TIRED! [Hypnosis, if JEVIL is not sufficiently tired]

- Werewire:    - Werewire swung in! [Encounter]    - Werewire and Maus swung down like stringed superheroes! [Unused encounter with Maus]

- Ambyu-Lance:    - Ambyu-Lance and its pet appeared! [Encounter with ?]

- Maus:    - Smells like wood shavings. [Neutral]    - Maus would like to go to its favorite bistro in this marvelous city. [Neutral]

- Spamton:    - $VAULES$ (rarely)

- Swatchling:    - Please enjoy this complimentary shockwave. [Red]    - What? The lasagna has some kind of explosive in it? [Blue, rare]

IN ADDITION: Like the Undertale Text Project, there's now an “X. Miscellaneous” folder of interesting things in the game:   - Chapter & Route Stat Changes (’Power’ Section)   - Character Spells (’Power’ Section)   - Character Titles (’Power’ Section)   - Configuration   - ‘Everyman’ Sightings & Mentions   - Game Over Screens   - ICE-E Sightings & Mentions   - Items     - 1. Equippable Items     - 2. Healing Items     - 3. Light World Weapons & Armor     - 4. Throwing Away Items     - 5. Miscellaneous Items     - 6. In-Battle Descriptions     - X. If any of you feel that there’s something else that deserves it’s own folder in the Miscellaneous section, feel free to let me know!

With all that said, if there are any suggestions to make such as missing screencaps to get (and how to get them), folder naming suggestions, etc., feel free to let me know.

(By the way, if you’re [rightfully] wondering why this took so long, it’s a couple of things: one is that both chapters put together are surprisingly long, two is that I don’t have useful tools like an in-game script, save file editing, and room/event numbers like for Undertale, three is that so far I’m going at this completely alone instead of having a group effort, and four is that at one point I kinda just got burnt out and needed a temporary break after so many replays lol)

(By the way #2: For SOME reason, updating the Chapter 2 folder is claiming there’s “upload problems” with 9 out of the total 10593 files and I have zero idea which files those are, so if someone manages to find a spot where some images are clearly missing, please let me know!)

Thetalan (Additheta) and Spamton (Addispam) as White Addison children for the AU I have with @keylee. This never happens since the two don't meet until after Spamton becomes NEO, but if it did, many problems could have been prevented.

The artifacts and static are intended to replicate an old school/retro anime screencap. Spamton's clothes were based on my friend's early drawing of his White Addison ver. She requested Theta's dress be blue.

Phew. Okay. *cracks knuckles* Time for the big one.

So, several questions before this:

Wait, what did sans say?

Meaning... he was listening. To our conversation with Paps. Cuz he knew the kinds of questions us crazies were gonna ask and he didn't want Paps getting involved with any of that.

At first, it seems like sans doesn't want us to know what Paps was talking about. And that does seem to be a part of it.

But look more closely:

He has to think about it. He has to remember it. He can't just tell us, "Oh, yeah, we were in such-and-such city, ever been there?"

And it doesn't look to me like he's just reluctant to tell us. Given how many times in this interview he's turned the questions around that he didn't want to answer (like the one about sans not being his brother, or about a friend keeping something from him), we know how Papyrus acts when he doesn't want to answer a question. He doesn't hem, haw, or hesitate. He flips it, instantly. So this is not him dodging a question. This is him trying to remember the answer.

I think sans didn't want Paps to remember wherever they came from, for whatever reason. Because wherever that was, it sure wasn't Underground. Think about it: The Ruins, Snowdin, Waterfall, Hotland, The Core, New Home- there is no green grass ANYWHERE Underground.

There is a little bit of greenery around Asgore's throne:

But I'm not sure that's supposed to be grass. And anyway, how could sans and Pap have come from Asgore's throne room? It's not like they could have lived there.

So they are definitely NOT from the Underground. Certainly not from The Core, and even more certainly not born as a result of Gaster's experiment (although that still could be how they reached the Underground). They're not from any Dark World we've seen- neither Card Kingdom nor Cyber Field/Cyber City had green grass.

You wanna know the only place in either game where we've seen green grass?

Hometown.

I can understand sans not wanting us to get confirmation that they're actually from Hometown, or at least that they went from Hometown to Underground. And that could have been all it was, keeping us from knowing for sure. But if I'm right, and he didn't want Papyrus to remember Hometown...

Why? What's gonna happen?

EDIT:

TBH, I forgot they actually do call it grass. But it's not green, it's blue.

(Am I being nit-picky for the sake of my own theory? Yes, I totally am. I have that right. It is my theory, after all.)

And, yeah, tipto-yark is right. Why would sans feel the need to stop Papyrus from saying they were from Waterfall? Why would Papyrus have trouble remembering it, especially since he and Undyne are so close?

Deltarune Text Project Update #2

Here comes another update to the Deltarune Text Project!

So for various IRL circumstances, I got moderately sidetracked on previous folder-updating plans, so while the Monster Encounters for Chapter 2 haven’t been added yet, instead I almost entirely-finished the Overworld for Chapter 1, as well as many details in Chapter 2 if you used Chapter 1 completion data; when I finally finish the Monster Encounters, that will be when I sync Google Drive to my desktop for automatic updates (and with how obscure or otherwise strange some overworld dialogue is, monster encounter dialogue should be a lot easier and faster to get!).

As mentioned before, in “109. Alley" I had to use ShareX’s Screen Recording feature because of text that automatically scrolls too fast, and the resulting screencaps are 1282x998 in size; while pasting them on top of the usual 1282x999 images seem to have the text line up 1:1, it’s still a discrepancy I want to make a note about.

Similarly again, some folders are also named [Pending] because I just simply couldn’t think of a name.

With all that said, if there are any suggestions to make such as missing screencaps to get (and how to get them), folder naming suggestions, etc., feel free to let me know.

I just noticed something.

This is Reaper Bird.

Astigmatism becomes Reaper Bird's face, and the legs become the beak.

So if you look at Astigmatism in a certain way, their legs could actually be seen as a pincer-like mouth that opens horizontally.

Kind of like, uh...

And Astigmatism is a Core monster.

Taking this a bit further:

Whimsalot is a knight, and Final Froggit wears a crown. Final Froggit also has cross-shaped (or star-shaped, or SAVE-point-shaped) eyes, and the dots on its tummy and the face under its tummy almost kinda look like the Delta Rune.

All of these are Core monsters. All of them group together to form Reaper Bird. And all of them achieved some form of enlightenment, which made them "stronger monsters".

And Reaper Bird is the only Amalgamate (aside from the Memoryheads, because it's not clear to me whether Alphys made them or not) who is not represented in the Deltarune graveyard.

So, what does all this mean? I have no clue. I don't even know if it does mean anything. But it's really dang weird, innit?

None of these are my pictures. I just pulled them from Google, because my PC is giving me trouble trying to play or record or screencap anything.
