Dean doesn't value himself. He will lay down his life any day because he thinks he doesn't deserve to live. That he should've stayed dead. The immense guilt and self loathing that Dean has live with every day, plays a pivotal role in breaking him apart and I feel like it's one of the reasons we never really see happy Dean anymore. So #spn2x4 #childrenshouldntplaywithdeadthings I really, really like this episode a lot. It's the first time we get to see Sammy's unconditional love for his mom, someone he's never even met or has any conscious memory of. Also Dean. God damn. My heart hurts for him. Really. Him potentially wondering what would John's grave look like if he ever had one and him refusing to go near let alone see his mom's "grave" breaks my heart every damn time. Not to mention the immense guilt he carries. Recalling what #castiel says in a future episode "you don't think you deserve to be saved Dean" oh God.
