Daycare Attendant Base/Template

So I’m in the process of designing some of my own DCA OCs, but I noticed that there doesn’t seem to be any existing bases or templates that are close(r) to their in-game proportions. So I decided to make one! While I’m not the greatest artist and there are plenty of things I’m not 100% happy with (please for the love of god ignore the spelling on ‘palettes’ I AM NOT RE-SAVING ALL THE FILES AGAIN), I think this could be a useful resource for anyone else to use!

I made two versions since I noticed that a fair number of fans liked to give them anthro paws, and while I’m not an anthro or furry artist by any means, I think it came out really good!

Rules to follow when using this resource:

Please credit me. Using this base for personal or commission/adoptable use is totally fine, but please tag me or link to the base!

Do not re-post or sell the base itself, this is a free resource for anyone to use.

That’s it tbh. Go wild, mash this with other bases, trace over it, print it out, make a bajillion OCs—just have fun with it!

Uh. I guess it’s worth using my limited influence to convince others to write reblogs. The DCA fandom has basically zero consistent ID writers except for my dear friend @chocolateseeds so if anyone’s an artist and wants to learn—

The core fundamental of image description is Object-Action-Context. Short description is better than none, so this helps you get the fundamentals down:

Object: Who or what is the main thing you’re focusing on in this image?

Action: What is happening in the image? What is the main subject doing?

Context: What’s the surroundings? What information should you add so the reader best understands the purpose of this image and why it was included?

Two very good guides about writing image descriptions

Formatting for alt text if you go that option (although IDs in the main body is always more accessible)

Image descriptions for art and fanart

Here’s a simple formula by mimzy-writing-online to get you started:

If you learned the fundamentals above, this is an amazing resource by a museum about the core principles of an ID, and making it lush and vivid but not overdone. Talks about spatial order of details, making a narrative. Good for people who have some practice with writing IDs

Hello hello, lovely Anon! Thank you for the ask! I've been doing nothing but act strange and be insane about this man over the weekend, so I have a lot of headcanons to share about our dear Professor Afton. All SFW, if you'd like a NSFW version please let me know! Some might be included in the fic, they might not, we'll see. If you would like to be tagged in posts like this don't hesitate to reach out, thank you so much for reading!

Professor Afton is treated like an elusive cryptid around the University campus.

There's always a different rumor going around about him every semester. From him sleeping in the closet in his office because he's a homeless vampire to him stealing the dining hall's entire supply of eggs, he's heard it all.

He has a secondary Master's Degree in English with a concentration in Folklore.

He'll only tell you if he really, really likes you but he even has a favorite mythological creature, a Scottish/English fairy known as a Brownie.

If you're lucky enough to learn about the Brownie's from him he'll often crack jokes about his "close encounters" with them in his workshop.

"They get upset when things are in disarray, and I don't think you can get much messier than my tool bench."

He only drinks his coffee black.

He occasionally has tea, but it's very rare, he always sneaks a bit of honey in without anyone knowing.

He is left handed

He still actively wears the tongue piercing he got in college.

He's very good at hiding it.

You're one of the few people that have ever caught sight of it.

He asked you to keep it in between the two of you. (And how could you possibly have said no when he gave you such a sweet smile along with the wink he shot you)

He has an enormous bag of caramel hard candies in his desk at all times.

Now onto a couple cuter things...

It is absolutely no secret to anyone besides you that you are Professor Afton's favorite.

That being said, it gives you some pretty nice scary dog privileges.

Caught working after hours in the work shop? "Oh, Professor Afton gave me his keys."

Need a particularly hard to get a hold of resource? Well, if it's for Professor Afton's class they'll make sure he has it.

He keeps an extra mug in his office specifically for when you come by his office for help.

He always pours you a cup of his favorite hand blended tea without asking, the mug always a nice comforting warmth in your hands as you chatted with him.

Ooohhh, Musicbond AU thought. Okay, so the entire point of that AU essentially is that Charlie's spirit winds up observing the Pizzaplex for any new threats, then eventually retrieves the Marionette's body from beneath the building to help her stay grounded better + she's tied to it, so she can only go so far from it. She only possesses it at night when she can physically sneak around easier

So idea. Eventually sneaking around doesn't work out as well as it usually does, and she's caught by a human employee. Charlie thinks that the Marionette is going to be forcibly removed or even destroyed if she doesn't figure something out, but that's not the case. This is a perfectly functional robot they've found! This is a miraculous discovery! They can use this, and profit off of it!! Which should be a relief, but... they want the body for repairs. The first time or two the Marionette had been moved with Charlie's spirit inside, the workers had only performed basic tests then backed off when the body seemed just as operational. This time, an actual check-up is in order.

And Moon has to calm down a very panicked Charlie, because she knows that if anyone catches even a glimpse of what the Marionette looks like inside, they will see nothing that makes it Charlie, and everything that makes Mari dead. Water damage. Burns. Fried circuitry. They'll realize that this is no miracle, and that the Marionette isn't worth the resources needed to rebuild it from scratch. After all those years, it's completely and utterly broken inside.

Charlie and the DCA (or even the other animatronics) would have to somehow come up with a plan for nobody to find that out.

The DCA Palooza is finally here! We're so excited to have you here.

After years of hard work...

The DCA Palooza is finally here.

And here's the intro post.

Why was the Palooza created?

Recently, I made a note commenting on the atrocious reblog-to-like ratios for the Daycare Attendant Fandom. As @chandlelures calculated using their own art, 18 percent of their notes were reblogs, and the rest were likes. Now some are fine with this. For them, likes are any other type of validation except that logic falls flat when you consider how this site works. Reblogs put art on your follower’s dash, keeps the art circulating, and you can leave nice compliments in the tags which artists will probably screenshot and read when they’re feeling sad. It’s about a feedback loop of good vibes and participating in community.  The ratio particularly affects smaller artists who may average 10 notes at best, and when over half of those notes are likes–well, it hurts their chance of growing their audience and having more people see their hard work. 

That’s why I’m excited to introduce the DCA Palooza! 

It’s not just about fixing numbers, or asking people to reblog more. It’s creating an event space where we can share our ideas and art, while also promoting image accessibility (writing IDs, tagging for eyestrain and flashing, etcetera) for disabled fans too! It’s addressing the wider cultural shift that many older fans have complained about, where we’ve started treating ourselves as content creator and consumers, instead of fans all obsessed with the same blorbos. To do our part in fighting against this and building community…

Here are our main goals: 

Encourage fans to reblog and support smaller artists.  

While we love the concept of “gallery spaces” from @roachworks Gallery Jamboree! You don’t need to create a sideblog to become a curator. If you want to join Monthly Wrap Ups (where you promote new artists and AUs you found) all you need to do is tag @dca-fanart-gallery to join the event! We’ll see your tag, reblog from you, and then go hunt down those artists you mentioned and reblog from them too :D! 

Host weekly magmas and community events 

Magmas are a place where multiple artists can draw on the same canvas. It’s a great way to find new artists and their art styles, and have fun with their community. They’re currently hosted by @venomous-qwille every Saturday, and we post the art pieces in our Discord

Raise awareness about accessibility 

In the Discord Server, we ask that you write short IDs for every image you post and hopefully learn to write IDs for your own art. The main gallery will promote accessible artists and link to resources for writing image descriptions, as well as write IDs for much of the art we reblog. It doesn’t take too long to learn, and as the original artist, you’ll know what to emphasize in an ID than we’ll ever can!

DCA Info Part 33: Meet Elu Sorrel 🐻

Elu Sorrel (エル・ソレル, Eru Soreru) is the dorm leader of Sagamore. A young princess from a tribe of forest beastmen who excels at archery and is currently having issues dealing with settlers who desire to take her homeland for its resources.

History

Elu was born and raised in the Bearland Woods and is the daughter of Mato Sorrel, chief of a tribe of forest beastmen. She is also the younger sister of Alo Sorrel.

At some point in her life, a group of corporate settlers arrived to the area that her people inhabit in the hopes of claiming the land and exploiting its natural resources.

Sometime following her enrollment at Diamond Crown Academy, she began studying about laws, how to legally keep her homeland safe and policies regarding property in case they try anything drastic and a lawyer has to get involved. As much as she dislikes technology she does know that they have to acknowledge modern tech to help her community progress and live more comfortably.

Personality

Elu is a mostly quiet and stern individual. She is mostly seen with a serious or unpleased look on her face and rarely ever shows a smile.

Despite her calm and composed persona, she can be vicious and downright scary when provoked, but she keeps it bottled up as she thinks that getting angry will lead to unnecessary violence. She has the tendency to be competitive and will accept a challenge that she may or may not regret accepting.

Like fellow dorm leader Jinlong, she has trouble adjusting to the school life due to the culture shock. So, she often keeps to herself while occasionally asking the professors for advice.

Elu ultimately wants what's best for both her people and village and is determined to protect it from the greedy scoundrels who want her home for it's resources.

Appearance

Elu is a girl in her mid-teens. She has tan skin, amber eyes and short black hair with two braided strands held by gold bands. Her ears are visible on the top of her head.

2020 School Uniform

In her original uniform, Elu wore a tan short sleeve dress with brown fringes with the center on the dress being brown and having various patterns. The dress has triangular pattern details that are red, light blue and teal and are divided by gold trim, the dress also has a dark brown hood with the same brown fringes as before. Elu also sports a pair of dark brown leggings with her right leg having a brown cuff with gold trim, teal fabric trimming and red, light blue, white, dark red and brown beaded cuff. For footwear, Elu wears a pair of brown boots with gold trimming and soles and the upper portion is tan in color with black X laces.

Elu accessorizes with many items. This includes a teal headband with red and light blue triangle patterns with gold trim attached to a pair of goldish gears, each of which are in turn attached to a blue, red, and white feather. Other accessories include a dusty gold brooch with an orange gem in the center with blue, red and white feathers, a black glove with tan trim  on her right hand, a tan gauntlet with brown fabric trim, beaded bracelet and orange circular gem on her left arm, a brown corset with orange gem buttons, a tan belt with an orange diamond gem and the mechanical bear mask that she wears around her waist.

2021 School Uniform

Elu now has braid strands held by two red and teal bands each, in addition to orange hair pins with a pair of teal, white and red feathers.

Now with a more simplistic design, Elu wears a dark brown turtleneck top with brown trim underneath a tan top with teal accents that have triangular patterns, brownish trim and dark brown fringes. The top also has deep brown fringe details with orange gem buttons and a dark brown hood. This new ensemble also includes a pair of tan shorts with teal accents and brownish trim alongside dark brown thread details. The dark brown leggings remain the same. The footwear consists of a pair of short brown heeled boots with light brown fringes, buckles and soles.

The accessories include a goldish triangular brooch with an orange gem and teal, white and red feathers as well as a dark brown belt with copper trim.

School Statistics

Elu is a 17 year old 2nd year student. She is classified as Student #12 and is in Class 2-A. She is a member of the Griffin Scout Club and her best subject is Griffin Disc. Her favorite school subject is Animal Linguistics because she grew up surrounded by animals, so this subject was easy for her. Her least favorite school subject is Basic Etiquette due to her having very little knowledge on European etiquette.

For her idol performances, Elu has a surprisingly soft and gentle voice and a high pitch. She can also sing pop songs when needed but prefers a ballad song.

For her choreography, Elu favors interpretive dance and hip hop. She doesn't mix the two dances though, she dances them according to the appropriate song.

Relationships

Family

Elu greatly looks up to her father and desires to become a great leader just like him.

Alo often sends letters to Elu to inform her what has been happening in the village during the course of her time at DCA.

Pet

Elu has a pet woodpecker named Matelot. They act as the forest guardian and was trained to peck wood at a certain number of times as a form of morse code only Elu could understand.

Fellow Students

Not much is known about Elu's relationships with fellow DCA students due to the fact that she mostly keeps to herself.

Night Raven College Students

It's implied that Elu has a bit of a rivalry with Leona, due to the latter treating her like a child.

Romance

Elu's preferred significant other should be someone who can help her loosen up. She's always stressing about the future of her hometown, so someone who can help give her the knowledge to protect her loved ones as well as maker her feel at ease.

Powers and Abilities

• Magic: Much like her fellow students, Elu can use magic.

• Archery: Elu is an incredibly skilled archer. She can shoot with high accuracy even when on horseback. She is known to even shoot arrows through ring holes that are as small as a pinky finger.

• Agility: Elu has good agility due to climbing up trees and possibly has done the possum hang.

• Morse Coding: Elu is said to have a talent for morse coding.

• Self Navigation: Elu can navigate areas without the use of maps due to her ability to scope the land and know where everything is by memory and scent.

Unique Magic

Elu's unique magic is called "Arrow of the Wind" (自然のそよ風に従う/アロー・オブ・ザ・ウインド, Arō Obu Za Uindo; lit. "Follow Nature's Breeze"). She can direct her arrows to follow her targets with the guiding wind.

Voice

According to her bio, Elu would be voiced by Minami Tsuda, known for her roles as Hime Shiratori in Aikatsu Stars!, Salama in Amagi Brilliant Park and Karin Shijimi in Pretty Rhythm: Dear My Future.

Trivia

• Her birthday is on December 10th, making her a Sagittarius.

• She is 158 cm tall, making her the shortest of all of the dorm leaders.

• Her favorite food is Buttered Corn while her least favorite food are Biscuits. She dislikes technology and unclean environments.

• She enjoys Wood Carving.

• Her preferred Styling Jewel Outfit Styles are Cultural and Cool.

• For her casual attire, Elu would mostly wear overalls with some boots and a blouse.

• Her favorite colors are shades of light green and brown.

• She is dubbed "Little Sturgeon" (チョウザメちゃん, Chōzame-chan) by Floyd due to the fact that it references the song “Steady as the Beating Drum” from Pocahontas. The song serves as a way of introducing the audience to the Powhatan Indians.

• In her spare time, Elu likes to take walks in the forest or go mountain climbing.

• For Elu, her Overblot would occur if the greedy corporate individuals did some sneaky cheating behind the scenes to gain a warrant to tear down her village and the supposed ally she relied on betrays her due to being swindled by greed.

• Elu would be an Eco-Inventor in the future.

• Elu prefers sweets that are used with organic ingredients.

• Elu would smell like morning dew and fresh grass.

• Her signature scent would be the smell of minerals and fresh grass

• Elu fears her village disappearing the moment she comes back from school. The fight against people with power could go on for so long but she still is scared of the thought of their home being destroyed when she was close to defending it.

Things to mind:

The last note is not all that accurate but fits as a kid-term for this, whatever this is...

Quick note: They do not live in the daycare anymore! They have a whole mansion with more then five floors as unlikely as it may sound right now to y'all.

I will also put some images I made myself in here, lazy edits that is-... I'll put a trigger warning before each of them if they contain triggering things/objects.

It was supposed to be just like any other day, chaos chaos and more chaos, it wasn't. The twins have been on a murder spree ever since a week ago, when they got into a argument with Eclipse, and now neither wants to see the other, Lunar has tried making them forgive each other. It failed miserably sadly as soon as the twins tackled Eclipse and ripped off half of his rays, an arm and half of his casing, which was so damaged his left eye stopped working, glitched out and turned off the moment he tried standing up on his own.

The twins were on their own, hunting down everyone they can while fitting right in with the human society, separating from each other and shape shifting(using the new nano machines) to look less like a robot during daylight, however, at night the chaos unleashes and they hunt everything and anyone they see on their way, and that is if they're a threat, if the threat doesn't move or attack back, they'll sometimes retreat and search for another one. They hungered for bloody fun and more to rip and tear at, while Bloody wanted to tear, Maim wanted to rip and rip and rip all of that sweet, human flesh...

Meanwhile Solar Flare and Lunar sat on the couch in Sun and Moon's room, whatever you prefer to call it. Lunar had been crying for hours on end for a simple yet dumb reason, even if he was smart, someone just had to make him feel bad, that's why Sun and Moon aren't here, they have a new target in mind..

Earth was on their best behavior nonetheless, sitting in their room and not noticing anything happening outside, having gotten a whole new remodeling of the said area, and everything was just like they imagined, less like a safety hazard too. While they did like the stars, they must be taken off the walls sooner or later, they're.... Very much a dangerous area itself...

......

While Sun was still somewhat of a clean freak still, he couldn't help but smile maliciously at how easily their job has been done, the single problem was those stupid minions still coming after them. While the both knew it was useless to waste their resources on this, they just had to! How could they let that little bastard get away with hurting their family? In no way will they, they'll never see the light of day again, the both made sure.

TW:Gun, blood/oil, implied deaths and violence

Moon watched as Sun flexed his fingers on his gun before firing it while holding said gun backwards over his shoulder, sighing in what seems like annoyance. 'We're these people even gonna put up a fight already?! It's getting boring..' Sun thought while settling his gun back in it's spot on his waist band.

"Sun, come on, there's a lot more of them coming, and I don't have the patience to be here any longer." Moon blurted out to cover out the sudden alarms going off and sirens getting louder the closer they came, ah, one of them called the cops? So cute, such a bad attempt nonetheless though, they always had people to get them out of trouble. They always did.

"Fineee... But I'm blaming you for the loss of the knife!" Sun replied, sighing in exasperation, looking at Moon's persona just as dirty as his of the ungodly amount of blood and oil from their victims, the both took a breath in and then jumped, their newfound abilities including this, and then landed on the roof of the building, running off into the darkness of the night sky above them as the sirens got silenced by the air rushing around them.

Killcode stood at the kitchen table, baring his razor sharp teeth, holding his face with sharp tipped fingers and cold hands, sighing internally. How was he gonna solve this one?... It was obvious they had everything at the tip of their fingers, just, not the twins, and everyone is being risked because of the two going out and being so reckless, not even caring to hide themselves away before they get caught up into it.

He was so tired of this, he was exhausted, he just wanted to have some peace, even for a moment, truly so he would take the week off, but he didn't dare to, business is business and he has to keep it going, and he was reminded so again when he was interrupted from his thought by a loud clank and a (assumed) painful crash somewhere on the upper floors.

Killcode let out a shudder breath, pushing the chair back and standing up, stretching his limbs, reminded he should stop arching his back in such ways. He looked around once more before walking through the long hallways towards the stairways, which were a spiral-like model and fancy spirals and small, crescent moon-like shapes on the edges and railings.

Killcode soon stopped at what seemed to be the second(?)floor from down to up of the mansion, sseeing Sun and Moon have broken in their own house through the window, the biggest one too, glass all over the floor as Moon hanged upside down outside while Sun sat on he floor inside, rubbing at his rays, clearly having landed on the wrong side.

Well, it was a bit of a relief, what wasn't was the mess and now even more scared Lunar hiding behind the couch, Solar Flare just staring at the scene, obviously unable to do anything unless he is ordered to.

Killcode sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose and walking down the last few steps of the stairs, stepping into the room, a living room full of broken glass, a scared Lunar and a frozen Solar Flare, this house was so messy every hour of the day, it was first Eclipse a few weeks ago, now it's Sun, who's next? The twi-

Before Killcode could complete his thoughts another loud crash came from the other window on the side of the living room, the twins swinging inside as their claws held onto the walls before they landed on the floor, straightening up and looking at Killcode as if they've been caught red handed, and they have been this time for sure.

They stared right back at their father, obviously having been caught in the act, dropping their head low and standing still as a rock, rooted to the floor, knowing they'll most likely get grounded or punished, either were good, and neither was yelling or shouting, they prefer to be 'good' kids at least at something, but it was impossible when they're so, SO energetic after finally having gotten their meal.

Moon slipped through the window, straightening up and stretching before walking over to Sun ever so slowly, holding his hand out to his brother, who took it and stood up, the both looking at the BloodMoon twins before to Killcode who walked over to the couch, ignoring the mess of bloody oil or blood on the floor his kids made and avoiding the glass shards.

TW: blood and oil, darkness

"Kid, calm down... It's all good, and safe..." Killcode sat on his knees at the side of the couch where Lunar was hiding, curling into himself, his small body shaking with every breath he took, whimpering as if anything was happening while the silence stretched on. He was still respecting Lunar if he didn't wanna be touched and if he would say so himself, not wanting to make this worse.

Sun and Moon whispered to themselves before nodding to each other, Sun stepping backwards and running off in the hallways, his foot steps getting silenced as he was immediately out of view, the darkness of the young night giving the illusion of that.

Moon stepped closer and sat down next to Killcode, opening his arms wide as Lunar raised his head to look at his brother, sniffing before tightly hugging Moon, seeming like Lunar likes Moon more then Killcode, it is fair as their father wasn't always the best himself, not that they minded him, it was just how busy he was, and they didn't judge him, but his absence to Lunar and possibly Earth was... Not helpful to make them cope with everything happening around themselves in this environment.

Moon patted Lunar's back, looking as Killcode soon left them alone, the twins nowhere in sight, probably left for their own arguments, Moon kept on humming, trying to calm his brother down, the oil and blood covering his persona not helping too much, but Lunar was either not bothered by it or just didn't see it if he didn't react to it yet.

in which i ramble about the DCA lads

starting off with sun

great with kids and adults who are a bit on the childish side.

has verrrrrrrrrrrrry little patience for staff and rude parents.

def needs a 2 week vacation to a tropical paradise.

in addition to the vacation , getting back to the theater stage would do their mental health wonders

hella good at their job , but goddamn they need a break from corporates' incompetence .

now moon is a bit different

i feel like moon wound up allied with vanny as a way to stave off their boredom. (and that's without them getting infected by the glitchtrap virus)

Halloween is moon's shit , they'd have super star daycare decked out in spooky season decor when it's JUNE if the staff (and some parents) weren't total dicks about it .

they get bored easily on night shifts and their usual patrols .

they're more frustrated with their light sensitivity than sun is , which led to some impromptu therapy sessions with the kids in the daycare that couldn't sleep.

also , they'd def jump a rude customer for fun , especially if said customer was talking crap about the kids under their care

upon seeing some of the strange people in bunny costumes wandering around after hours they'd indeed be a tad concerned for the safety of those people. not enough to yoink 'em back to the daycare though.

Eclipse has definitely intimidated a karen into being on her best behavior by getting out of the little kid sized chair they were sitting on and standing up at their full height while not breaking eye contact with said karen for a second. (you can fight me on that)

if given the proper resources , they'd do a damn fine job at managing the pizzaplex themselves! fuck corprate!

So, a couple of things; a sincere compliment and a question (pardon the lengthiness).

I did not know you had a second AU for the DCA. I found you via the fairy AU and fell in love with your creation(s) and the beautiful, carefully loved, and whimsical feel that exuded in your uploads. Now, with this second that is the SK AU, my heart and mind has been torn asunder in a loving way. I have often day dreamed of original stories of similar scenarios for the same reasons, and to see these unvoiced ideas played out in your beautiful art and moonlit's lovely written words just made my day. Kind of like that "I'm not alone in thinking this" with a mix of admiration on how well this AU is forming. Very well done job, the both you ✨👌💕

Now, question for the SK AU: I read in a previous ask if Sun and Moon had made a mistake or miscalculation in judgements on a situation. This question kind of goes on the back of this, but in a separate direction; Have Sun and Moon ever come across a child they suspected were in an abusive situation, only to find out that it was a terrible situation for the parent that they (parent) didn't know was affecting their child? I.E. A single parent is working two, sometimes three jobs and does their best to pay attention and care for their child, but the level of exhaustion they possess causes them to miss things. Or a parent suffers from a chronic illness and they have no one to fall back on to help take care of their child when episodes arise? If they haven't come across a situation like this before, do you have any hypothetical thoughts on a similar situation happening--as in, would sun and moon interfere to help the situation or call in their connections to remove the child from the situation to benefit said child (or other thoughts)?

I'll be honest, I inadvertently thought up a small family like that (chronically ill and overworked yet loving parent, and very concerned, yet loving child) as I was reading up on this AU and that's where the core inspiration for the question came from. Would love to hear your thoughts on such a scenario (if it's not too spoilery on future content).

From what I gather, you're asking about situations where it looks like abuse might be involved but there actually isn't?

In which case, yes.

If they see something going on that rouses suspicion, they are going to look more into it. And if they see that it's actually not domestic abuse, they will find some means of helping the parent and their child, which will usually lead to them contacting someone through those "special connections".

And they wouldn't take the child away unless all resources have been exhausted. The last thing they want to do is take a child away from a parent who does love and care for them.

It has been reported that a Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) between Finland and the United States could be ready for signing at the civil servant level as early as this week. Under its terms, it would, for example, allow for the construction of US military infrastructure in Finland, advance storage of materials, and for US soldiers to arrive at shorter notice for training and exercises in Finland.

Helsingin Sanomat reported that Jussi Saramo, the chair of the parliamentary group of the Left Alliance, and a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, says his party is not yet ready to support the agreement on the basis of the information it currently has.

"We don't know anything about it, as far as what is being concretely agreed upon," Saramo said, referring, for example, to the areas that will be made available for use by US troops in Finland.

According to Saramo, the Left Alliance is also interested in information about the weapon systems that could be placed in Finland. He told the paper that weapons of mass destruction and nuclear weapons should be banned in the text, even though Finnish law already prohibits bringing nuclear weapons into the country.

"I am most pessimistic about legal jurisdiction on Finnish soil. In any case, we are going to give up some of our sovereignty regarding US [military] people who are here," Saramo stated.

The Left Alliance was in government when the DCA agreement negotiations began last year.

Saramo added that he does not oppose or support the agreement.

"Of course, since we're in Nato it's good that we created structures with which Nato's undisputed largest military power can more smoothly help us if necessary, and we can train together here," Saramo said.

It has been speculated that many of the US forces that will train in Finland under the terms of the DCA will be stationed in the far north of the country.

Helsingin Sanomat interviewed locals in Rovaniemi to find out how they feel about the prospect of a regular American military presence in the area.

The paper summed up the responses by writing, "US soldiers are welcome in the north just like other foreigners. Local businesses will get more customers at the same time, but they'll have to know how to behave themselves when enjoying the nightlife."

Covid risks

The Finnish Institute of Health and Welfare (THL) has recommended a new coronavirus booster for anyone over the age of 65, people 18 and over who belong to medical risk groups, and anyone over the age of 12 who is severely immunocompromised.

Aamulehti writes that the latest booster became available in the Pirkanmaa region on Monday. Tero Harjuntausta, the assistant chief physician of the Pirkanmaa welfare county, told the paper that hundreds of shots are being given daily, but that there may be a wait of several weeks to get an appointment, and in some locales the next free slots for a booking are not until December.

Harjuntausta, said that everyone in recommended groups should now book an appointment for a booster vaccination. "Now we are at the point where the number of coronavirus infections has started to rise," he pointed out.

On Monday, there were 39 patients with Covid in specialised hospital care in the Pirkanmaa region, with some in intensive care.

Harjuntausta noted that for the average person, a coronavirus infection is much like a regular bout of flu. Vaccinations are primarily intended to protect risk groups.

Migri hiring more staff

The Finnish Immigration Service Migri will be expanding staff by about 150 next year, the Uutissuomalainen news group reported.

According to Migri Director General Ilkka Haahtela, the additional resources will be allocated to speeding up permit processing, primarily for international protection, students and employees.

In addition to that, more resources are to be channelled into supervision and removal from the country.

Haahtela also said that Migri is undertaking an efficiency programme and organizational reform.

"We definitely need to make our own operations more efficient. The permits that are granted should be handled quickly, reliably and securely. If a person receives a negative permit decision or a permit is revoked, then the return from Finland should take place quickly," he said.

Waste and pay

Ilta-Sanomat tells readers that Suan Aahaan, a Thai restaurant in Sipoo, is battling food waste with a nearly 12-euro surcharge levied on customers who throw away food they take from the buffet table.

"I have signs everywhere in the restaurant that I show them before they pay. If they don't like it, they can leave," says restaurant owner and chef Vaw Myllynen.

Regular customers are already familiar with the practice, and Myllynen makes sure the policy is quite clear to first-time diners in the restaurant, as well.

"In addition, I explain the problem very loudly to those who look intent on wasting food. When I talk to them loudly, they start to feel embarrassed when the other customers look at them," Myllynen explained.

Myllynen said that the amount of waste from the buffet has clearly decreased and in practice the extra charge has only been imposed two or three times.

Ilta-Sanomat added that a few other restaurants in Helsinki have started the same practice, as has at least one in Tampere where diners may end up paying as much as 30 euros extra for a meal if they waste food from the buffet.

Myllynen thinks that many buffet restaurants may be afraid of bad reviews or comments online if they start charging customers for wasted food.

"It doesn't worry me. I would say that 95 percent of our customers have been satisfied and understand it."

not trying to sound rude or aggressive or anything i swear, but what exactly Is it abt like. eclipse and ruin in general that you have critiques of? i'm still trying to figure out exactly what i think of it myself - it wasn't ANYTHING like what i was expecting, and to be perfectly honest i was also one of the Book Doubters(trademark pending) so that was a huge culture shock to me as well. idk i go in-between being really impressed and really liking it, to being salty that it wasn't what I think a good chunk of ppl including myself were expecting? looks like there's gonna be more down the line as far as this SB storyline goes so i'm curious and cautiously optimistic. i'm not totally sold on the mimic yet but thats probably bc I haven't been reading the tales books. guess i should start now lmao

i should make it clear that i actually haven't finished ruin yet, which is why i've been holding back on talking about it -- i'm up to bonnie bowl! so i'll refrain from commenting on that, except to say that the gameplay is a massive improvement from sb and only has more minor design flaws vs the base game's... fundamentally broken, lmao. they listened to criticism, refined their ideas and executed them with the resources available, and they did it well! i have mostly positive things to say on that front, which is nice. :)

eclipse is harder to talk about because... like, to give you an idea of how badly it effected me: it pissed me off so bad i started dissociating for the rest of the night, gave me stress stomach-aches when I refused to stop playing and then woke me up at 6am this morning nauseous and in pain. and that's not me being a wimp, that's me experiencing somatization, which is a real thing that i struggle with a lot, so hopefully you can understand why I'm not exactly keen to talk about this? especially when literally every time i even try to someone gets mad at me for breathing. please keep this in mind as i go on to say: eclipse is ableist as fuck and completely inexcusable.

as presented within ruin's visit to the daycare, the dca is left in a state of disrepair after the earthquake and subsequent abandonment left the pizzaplex to fend for itself. they're trapped between their two personalities, with both of them insisting that they are the one who knows what they should do; sun wants to be a good boy and do arts and crafts and whatever, and moon wants to send everyone to bed, blah blah you know the drill. as you complete the segment sun and moon regularly argue with each other, with sun holding the upset moon back from attacking cassie as she reactivates the generators, turning the lights on and stunning moon long enough for her to whack him with the faz-wrench, forcing a system reboot... and he's immediately reborn as eclipse, a lovely and kind figure with no memories of anything that happened who gently escorts you out and wishes you well. he's fixed now, you see! you did it! you got rid of his evil split personality, you've made him normal again, and without the aberration that is plurality he has not a cruel bone in his body!

the implications of this are incredibly fucking obvious and deeply deeply upsetting, and why i'm gonna point-blank say i'm not entertaining further discourse over whether this is reaaaally ableist or if they reaaaaally meant for them to read as a system or... nope, it's done, we're not fucking going there. it doesn't matter what they intended -- what they intended is pretty obvious, actually; they've decided to tackle a subject they're incredibly ill-equipped to handle, and the result is a character -- descended from the visual language and cultural canon of tales like split and psycho -- whose arc concludes with the reveal that it was being a system that made them violent. and the boss fight was dumb and bad and ignored all the previously-explained mechanics of this character to do this. it is aggressively stupid fanservice that turns what was once simply "poor taste walking the line of good faith" into "actual offensive caricature with zero room for doubt", and the only thing more despair-inducing than this twist is the community of people gleefully eating it up as their yummy angst fuel for their ultimate comfort character. and i shouldn't be surprised, considering it's coming from the "how dare you ask me to examine why i find it scary when the dca experiences altered identity states" crowd, but i am, unfortunately, an idealist doomed to be let down by normies. huzzah.

as for the mimic: I'm perfectly fine with afton getting laid to rest (he deserves it!), I'm not one of those guys, but in its current iteration (and from my understanding of it) it suffers immensely from having literally zero reason to be doing any of this shit and being yet another rejection of the supernatural in favour of sci-fi bullshit. because it's from the novels and the novels are allergic to ghosts. and having your entire story drip-fed in mediocre spin-off novels filled with blatant fetish content marketed to naive twelvies is so obviously bad storytelling that i don't even think i need to get into the piss-poor prose and legitimately cruel messages to explain why i hate that one

The little helpers au is this silly au I have where! I gave Sun and Moon cousins? Apprentices? Little guys.

Their names are Crescent and Star, they're about 4'0 and they see each other as twins! And Sun and Moon as their family :)

I made this both because I felt bad for them being all alone in my headcanon for SO LONG but also because I happened to sketch chibi sun and moons and went "oc time"

Lore is that Sun and Moon had been managing the daycare on their own for ~3 or so years, maybe longer, before management decided to give them a pair of helping hands! While Sun and Moon weren't the biggest fans of them at first, the four all bonded and became a tightly knit family.

Vanessa was hired not that long after and, while Crescent and Moon were sus of her just a smidge, they weren't really prepared for what happened next.

Moon was, unfortunately, Vanny's first target for Peepaw Willy's virus, using him to help her snatch away children during Nap-time. When Moon's actions were discovered, they blamed some poor bastard for the disappearances, even blaming them for tampering with Moon.

Afterwards, Naptime was discontinued. By association, Crescent was dragged down with Moon and was not allowed to leave the DCA room until the Pizzaplex closed for the day, which is... Not pleasant when your crazed cousin is patrolling at night.

Sun kept promising Crescent that everything would fix itself, that the techs would help Moon and they'd both be back with the kids in no time.

That was a bold faced lie, but he wasn't sure how to tell Crescent that things probably will not be ok. See, the only reason Moon wasn't removed and scrapped yet was because of an argument between management, the techs, and human resources. The techs had given up on fixing him since they couldn't find the problem even if they only worked on him for a week , management argued that Moon still provided excellent security, while human resources was worried about the threat he posed. Of course, Sun pleaded with the techs to not remove Moon, but that was a fruitless venture. They didn't have much say in it anyway.

And if Moon got scrapped, Crescent would be scrapped too just because he looks similar to him.

Now resentment for the company, for Moon, and eventually Sun and Star boils within the poor lunar helper :c

I've got multiple endings, most having Crescent help Gregory and Freddy out. Some have him get inflicted with the virus just like the Glamrocks and Moon, some where all four daycare attendants die in the fire, some where they all live... It's a whole thing!
