WHEN COMIC BOOK MOVIES GO DARK IN THE SCI-FI/BODY HORROR VEIN -- IT'S A.I. BUTCHERING HUMANKIND IN 1999.
NOTE: My best friend included this movie in a stack of DVD's he lent me earlier this week, and I thought it was a really brutal/gruesome take on the sci-fi/horror/action movie genre. The fact that it's based on a Dark Horse Comics property only enhances its appeal, personally.
FILM: "Virus" (1999)
DIRECTOR: John Bruno
SCREENPLAY: Dennis Feldman & Chuck Pfarrer (adapted from Pfarrer's Dark Horse comic book limited series)
CINEMATOGRAPHY: David Eggby
PRODUCER: Gale Ann Hurd
DISTRIBUTOR: Universal Pictures
PLOT SYNOPSIS: "A powerful electrical-based life form takes control of a Russian research vessel and kills the crew.
Finding itself trapped at sea with no escape available for it to spread through worldwide electrical systems. The creature desperately begins seeking escape.
An American tugboat boards the abandoned Russian research vessel hoping to plunder it and make a fortune.
The life form quickly seeks to eliminate the intruders whom it has come to see as a virus and utilise them at the same time to allow it to reach the mainland."

WAR BIRDS In Two Weeks, Other Stuff I’ve Done
Hello. I am incredibly lazy, which is why it’s taken this long to hype up my book coming out in a mere TWO WEEKS!
WAR BIRDS, my graphic novel from Dark Horse Comics with Steve Parkhouse of Resident Alien fame, is out on 3/22/2023 in comic shops, and April Somethingth 2023 in bookshops. Which means if you order on Amazon, it will likely be in your hands in April, unless you buy it digitally from Amazomixology. I don’t know how any of this works anymore.
If you want to get it from your local comic shop, the Diamond code is NOV220478. Please get it from there, or from a locla independent bookstore, if you can. I won’t judge if you are unable to and have to rely on Amazon or another online retailer. It’s how it is nowadays.
If you’d like to see an extended preview of the book, Graphic Policy, a website I’ve liked for some time, has one for you.
In addition, Adventures In Poor Taste interviewed Steve and myself, so check that out if you want as well.
C2E2 is happening at the end of March, but I still don’t know what capacity I will be there, even tho it is my local big convention. That said, I will be at a much smaller and much closer convention on 4/15/2023, two days after my 50th birthday, at the Schaumburg Library Comic Con, held at the library I spent a lot of time at various branches of in my youth. Gene Ha will be there too.
In the meantime, I’ve recently published two pieces at /Film. The first details 14 movies about the beautiful game that you should see. The second just went up last week, about comics you should read if you liked the Invincible TV show. I hope to do more there soon, as well as some other writing.
Sadly, I had more I wanted to do, but my time is short lately. I’ll try to get more up soon.
Thanks.

To Say Ghostbusters Back In Town Answers One Question Before Frozen Empire Helps Answer One Lingering Question
Technically, @darkhorsecomics release of #ghostbusters Back in Town isn't required reading, but it does strive to answer a few questions that cinema goers may ask. #comicbook review at:
A lot of comic books have been published featuring either The Real Ghostbusters, some version thereof, or exist in its own world. Just how long Dark Horse Comics intends to publish in regards to the Spengler family depend on the contract. At least to say they’re “Back in Town” bridges the gap between Afterlife and Frozen Empire is a step in the right direction. Author Greg Pak wastes no time to…
