Summary: It was unlike any other Sunday, even after eight years of days that weren’t like any other. Yesterday had been the end of an era, and today was the first day of the rest of her life. Wasn’t that surreal?

AU where Danny is in the White House press corps for the MS reveal
oh Sarah i love this! the dramaaaaa.
in the leadup to the reveal, after CJ knows, she's outwardly acting very normal (or as normal as she can) but while most of the press corps think she's perfectly fine... Danny knows. He knows something is up. But CJ won't tell him.
CJ won't tell him because she knows and a) she can't leak it but also b) Danny knowing would probably look bad given that he's got a reputation as close to the Bartlets (wrote the book on Abbey, you know) and people might think he knows more than he does.
When it finally comes out, Danny probably feels about as betrayed (if not more than CJ did), because he spent however long working on that book with Abbey, and never caught on to the whole 'secretly medicating her husband for an illness he didn't disclose to the public' thing, plus he's seen as close to the Bartlets which makes the whole situation worse.
His credibility takes a hit, as does CJ's, as people think he should have known, and he and CJ both commiserate and also probably still get snappy with each other, because they're both hurt and both dealing with the sideways glances... society if Danny had been in "Manchester".
I kind of believe this in canon anyway, but I definitely think the MS reveal and how Danny is sort of treated by everyone else definitely contributes to how hard he goes in (even beyond service to the public's right to know) on Shareef.
