How would little Eclipse and Blood Moon react if they saw someone trying to flirt (properly) with their father?
Tumblr media
They'd be disgusted and confused if anything. They're not very supportive of KC getting a love life.

Point of view: Odysseus & Penelope.
A.k.a. Nysus is seeing her favourite couple ever is trending and wanted to scream about it.
It's an analysis, but not a serious one. I'm just gonna dump all of my emotions because these two make me feel things no other couple in humanity's history made me feel haha ✨anyways✨
1. Helen.
I absolutely adore Helen and all the shenanigans regarding her figure, but that's for another time, another essay.
Wether it's by Hesiod fragments, by Pausanias or by the Pseudo-Apollodorus ( as his name states, not OUR Apollodorus, we have no idea who the fuck wrote the Bibliotheca, so, i'm always a bit salty with using it as a source ) we all know Helen had a big, BIG, number of suitors wanting to get her hand. Not only the daughter of the king of Sparta, but also the most-beautiful-woman-to-ever-exist, we know the deal. And, of course, between those suitors, there was Odysseus.
Now, Odysseus like everyone else was there for Helen, but he believed from the beginning he had cero chance. I, well, have no idea if Penelope was there or not, but Odysseus did know her if he was gonna ask Tyndareus to allow him to marry Penelope in exchange of making the whole oath thing so the suitors didn't start a war for Helen.
Penelope was the daughter of another king of Sparta, yes, and Helen's cousin. But, you know... That's it. And somehow Odysseus still decided to choose her. You're telling me that, the man of many schemes, decided to choose her over Helen, when he could have done any screwed up thing to get her instead? The man of many shemes???
The Odyssey is what characterizes Penelope the most, to no one's surprise. And it's thanks to it that, perhaps, we more or less can guess what he saw in her: her schemes. I mean, Penelope made ALL of her suitors wait with a scheme, she saw if Odysseus was truly him or not with a scheme as well. We could say that she was clever, in fact. She could trick Odysseus, and that was something Helen couldn't do. For him, the man of many schemes, that meant more than any fame the other could have given him.
2. I really don't wanna leave right now.
So you're happily married with a woman you love and you both have a son, too bad some shenanigans regarding Troy happened and now you have to go to war for the oath you yourself made ! Shit !
... This is according to some fragments of the lost epic of Cypria. It's thanks to archeological stuff that we more or less know what could have been written on it.
"Odysseus didn't want to go just because he didn't want to" look, i get that we all love those cold-heartless-heroes or whatever, but you're telling me he had a SON, and he didn't want to go "because he didn't want to"? Come on, i REFUSE to believe it was something else than him not wanting to leave Penelope and Telemachus. He had way too many stuff to lose if he went to that war. Like, come on, he really cared!
3. Calypso and Circe.
Calypso... Well, fuck.
So you're telling me he was stucked with her for 7 years, she was willing to do anything for him, make him inmortal, shenanigans shenanigans, ✨BEAUTIFUL INMORTAL NYMPH✨, and yet he was crying because he couldn't see his WIFE? It's hilarious to me that so many people have the balls to say that "he just got bored" YOU'RE TELLING ME HE, (and this is me trying to have the most sexist way of thinking every) WHO HAD A ✨BEAUTIFUL INMORTAL NYMPH✨ LOVING HIM AND FALLING HEAD OVER HEELS FOR HIM IN A DREAMY ISLAND AND WHO COULD MAKE HIM INMORTAL, still wanted to go back to Penelope? A mortal woman who would eventualy age?
"The gods said it was the time" yeeeaaah... No. They did not. Athena is just the one who jumps everywhere following Odysseus so she was just like, "dad, he's crying, that makes me sad :(" "he's been crying for seven years, Athena" "IS THAT NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU". If they really wanted him to return home, they could have just, you know, help him as they did! They just didn't want to piss off Poseidon, who despised him after, well, shenanigans, they had enough fights between gods after the Trojan war. Odysseus literally was even UNSURE of Calypso actually letting him go, because he thought that it was a trap. That's "love" according to ya'll, huh.
And Circe. It's, well, the same.
She literally turned his men into animals and was gonna kill them, so, you know, i don't think he held any special emotion towards her, other than fear. At least she only kept him for a year, because DAMN. Not going into the whole children shenanigans because just like with Calypso, it's gross for several reasons and i'm not here to talk about psychology.
The thing is, the Odyssey is about returning home, and Calypso and Circe are part of all the things in the Odyssey that represent why someone wouldn't go back home! Just like with other chapters of the Odyssey, Circe and Calypso are just that, reasons to keep the hero away from home, which he declines because it's been years, let him fucking go.
4. Schemes.
We all know about Odysseus' schemes, but let's talk about Penelope's!
It has always pissed me off when people described her as "just the archetype of faithful wife, boring, loyal" like, woah, okay, did we read the same work? I bet we didn't since English translations mostly suck LMAO.
Penelope was very clever, not just "the wife of the hero and move on". Think about the loom, since she's a weaver. How she made the suitors wait for SO LONG with that scheme. And if you're gonna ask why Odysseus killed a couple of her maidens, well, you see, it was them who told the suitors about Penelope's scheme. They betrayed her. We don't have anymore background to that, but... Yeah. They suck.
And the whole bow contest thingy? Did she ACTUALLY know the beggar who appeared was Odysseus in disguise? Because, you know, only Odysseus could use that bow out of all, so by holding that contest there are two options: either all the suitors would fail and she would keep them away for more time, OR she knew the beggar could be Odysseus and decided to test him, in order to see if he was truly him. She saw gods enough times, so it's no surprise that she suspected something like that. She even talks about the Heracles myth for that.
And how after ALL those years, she obviously wasn't sure if that man was truly Odysseus or not, so she decided to trick him into something only Odysseus would know. HOW COOL IS THAT I LOVE THIS WOMAN
5. The olive tree.
Or, as i like to call it, emotional damage.
As i said before, in order to prove that it was truly Odysseus, she tells Eurycleia to move the bed in their bridal-chamber. Odysseus then, in fear that someone had made a change, tells her that isn't possible, since he made the bed himself. In fact, one of its legs is a living olive tree! And that's the end of the Odyssey, them being reunited and enjoying the few time they have together for once.
I am NOT talking about the works that invent some weird-ass-hell-shenanigans after this. I am not for our well-being. They're happy, Homer said they're happy AND THEY'RE

"You dreamt of me? Tell me more." - Nathaniel to Achilles
Achilles laughed a little to Nathaniel question, shaking his head. He knew he shouldn't have admitted that, but he was often talking before thinking, which was often a disadvantage. The surgeon was still laying on the couch he slept on, looking at the prince, who was still in his bed. When he opened his eyes and saw that the siren was still there, he was quite relief, he did not know what though, but he was glad Nathaniel was the first person he saw waking up. Then, he had the stupid idea to tell him he dreamt about him, he did not know why he said that, the words left his mouth before his brain could comprehend them, and he regretted it for it could be seen has weird and maybe disrespectful even, since Nathaniel was a prince, and they didn't really know each other. So he closed his eyes, cursing himself for his stupidity, but when he opened his eyes, Achilles saw that cute smile on Nathaniel's face, and that was enough to make him relax a bit, while his heart missed a beat.
The young demigod stood up and stretched, before coming closer to the chair he tended Nathaniel's wound the previous night. For a moment, he stayed motionless in front of the chair, looking at the prince, silently. Nathaniel stayed in bed, looking at Achilles with a smile on his face but a puzzled look, when finally the latter laughed a little, which made the siren understood that he had to come closer too. A bit embarrassed, the prince finally left the bed to sat on the chair, where the surgeon took off his bandage to look at his wound.
“I'm afraid it wasn't a very interesting dream to hear about.” Achilles said after a moment of silence while cleaning the wound.
“I'd be the judge of that. Go on.”
“Fine, your Highness.”
“You know, each time you call me 'your Highness' I sense some sarcasm.”
“Oh, is that so obvious?”
The demigod couldn't help but smirk, which made Nathaniel laugh a little. For a while, they stayed there, looking at each other in silence. Now, Achilles' face was close to Nathaniel's one. Without realizing it, the bard quickly looked at the siren's lips, while his heart beat a bit faster. If Nathaniel did not clear his throat at the moment, which bring Achilles' back to reality, he probably would have done something he shouldn't have. Shaking his head, the surgeon finished cleaning his patient's wound, putting a fresh bandage on it.
“You should be careful, though. I don't care if you're condescending with me, to be honest, I really want you to call me Nate. But others won't like it.”
“Do not worry about me, I am charming enough to get my way out of any situation.”
“I believe that, yes.” Nathaniel whispered, and somehow, it made Achilles blushed a little. “So? That dream?”
“Alright, let me see...” Achilles started, searching in his memory of his dream. For a moment, he was silent, lost in his thoughts, but after a while, he sat on a chair next to Nathaniel, putting his surgical equipment away. “We were in a field of dandelions, having a picnic.”
“I remember that day...” Nathaniel whispered for himself, but Achilles did hear it, which made him frowned.
“You remember my dream?”
“What? No, I was talking to myself... I know, it does not help you think I am sane, now, don't laugh! Keep going, I am listening.”
“Fine, hmm... We had ham sandwiches and strong alcohol.”
“You even remember what we were eating?” Nathaniel said quite surprise, making the surgeon frowned even more.
“I have a very good memory, a gift for details.” Achilles admitted while shrugging. “That's not really a meal for a prince.”
“You'd be surprise what I can eat. What else?”
“It starting to rain, I wanted to leave, but you insisted for us to stay, because you wanted to see the sunset. I obliged. We were soaked, but the sunset was beautiful, so I wasn't truly mad at you for that.”
“Don't stop now, and then? What happened?”
“I don't know, I woke up.”
“Oh...”
Achilles could hear how disappointed Nathaniel was, which surprised him. He felt a bit stupid now for talking about it, and he looked away, pretending to be more interesting in his tools than the previous discussion. Nathaniel was a bit sad Achilles did not remember more. What the surgeon thought was just a silly dream was actually a date they had in one of his previous lives, and the siren remembered it quite well, as it was one of his favourite memory. He did force Achilles to stay under the rain just to see the sunset in the field of dandelion. He remembered how Achilles was mad, telling him off about how they will get sick if they stay under the rain too long, but as soon as he saw the sunset, the doctor kept quiet, too hypnotized by the sight in front of him. What Achilles was missing was that after that, they kissed –and even did more than that– under the rain.
Nathaniel thought it was a shame that Achilles did not remember the kiss. But at least, he remembered, even though it was through dreams. After a few minutes, where he was lost in his thought, the prince stood up, bringing Achilles' attention to him. The surgeon frowned when he saw the siren putting back his torn shirt.
“You're leaving?” He asked, a bit sad by the idea, not truly knowing why.
“Yes, I have too."
"Oh..." Achilles tried his best to hide his disappointment, but he probably did a bad job at it, for Nathaniel smiled a bit. "I'm sorry if I scared you with my dream... It was just a silly thing, I-"
"No, it's fine. I love your dream. It seems like a nice dream." Nathaniel reassured, and he could see it worked, for Achilles' seemed less tense all of a sudden. "I just have somewhere to go... But we'll see each other, I'll make sure of that.”
“You're a strange man, Nathaniel Blackwater.”
“I know, you'll grow to like this about me.”

last Sandman observation of the night but I like how all the moments of Morpheus being a dick are, from his pov, just him telling it as it is
“Joanna I can’t do anything for your ex” she’s dying! That’s Death job and even she can’t interfere here!
“yeah Lyta I’ll be taking your baby later” that’s how this works! It’s going to happen whether any of us want it to or not!
“sorry Rose I will be killing you now” it’s literally that or the universe ending. Sucks but it’s gotta happen!
there are The Rules and that they Must Be Followed and he has a hard time understanding why humans get all upset when he tells them this
he treats people terribly, but (for the most part) he’s not doing so maliciously. He just…doesn’t think

give me your thoughts on Darius' mentor [politely holds you at gunpoint]
Friend spotted!!! 💖 Hiiiiiii.
Okay, as any normal Darius fan... I have Many™.
First of all, I kinda do think Hunter was the youngest grimwalker (in general or recently), so I imagine the mentor was created as a teenager/almost adult, not straight up an adult because Belos still needed him to be more easy to manipulate and he did enough trial and error to have some basics on that down.
However, because he was most likely first or second Golden Guard after the establishment of the Empire, I think he managed to get away with way more than Hunter did, he was in a way the cautionary tale Belos took as reference later to deprive Hunter of more freedom. I tend to figure he was Golden Guard for at least 5-ish years at least? Before taking Darius as his mentee. I don't imagine he had the same "forbidden from talking to others" rule Hunter had because otherwise the mentorship situation would be really strange, but I highly doubt he really had any close connections anywhere, even if he was friendly with many people. That kind of person that, when he died, made everyone go "oh, that's a tragedy, he was so nice" and then promptly forget because he was not a major, deep presence in anyone's lives other than Darius'.
Now more on headcanon territory, I usually think of him in terms of his relationship with Darius since... well, it's the most obvious connection we have.
I feel like the mentor was pretty much a case of "this is not messed up, this is totally normal and... then why I don't want to inflict it on this kid I care about? If it's so alright, then why it makes me ill to think of doing that to him?", his connection with someone completely external from the coven (at that point) must have pushed him to reevaluate a lot about what he believed to be true, but it would have been hard, especially if he had enough "freedom" to have a mentee, then it wouldn't even occur to him that he's being abused in any way.
How long I think the mentorship lasted usually varies, but mostly I like to think Darius might have been picked when he was a teenager, especially if he had ambitions to join the EC (and that would have caused trouble in his friendship with Odalia, but that's another thing), though young adult is also alright depending on the day I'm thinking about this. I imagine it must have lasted a couple of years at least, because it left quite the impact on Darius. In my headcanons, Darius at least got to the trials to become a Coven Head before the mentor's death.
Personality wise, I like to think of him as seemingly easy going. Once again, the kind of person who seems to get along with everyone but of course no one knew him at such a deep level that they noticed what was going on with him. ALTHOUGH I imagine he was like that inside the coven, and mostly with scouts and so on. I don't tend to think much about his relationship with the Coven Heads because I imagine they kinda avoided each other, simply didn't connect paths enough for it to matter, but I think the mentor would have been clever enough to be nice in a poisonous way with them, sort of like Terra.
With Darius... with Darius I don't think he fully liked him at first. Don't get me wrong, I imagine he might have been the one to pick him as mentee, but I don't think it would have been his intention to get attached to him until... uh oh, suddenly he realizes he is. So I imagine he was very cold and to the point as an instructor at first, and he softened up over time. Related to that, I tend to think of young Darius as still confident, but doubting himself a bit, I think of Darius as a very social person who does rely in his connections to others when the circumstances are good, and mentorship times Darius would have just lost most if not all of his friendships so I feel like he would have been a bit less sure of himself than normal, and that would have made the mentor have to become a bit more encouraging to him out of necessity. Falling into the attachment trap right there.
With people he really trusted (which unfortunately might have been just Darius), I like to headcanon him as very straightforward, playful and teasing. Very good liar tho, he had to be to be able to keep up his Golden Guard persona at the same time, not letting much slip through the cracks and making Darius only realize something was wrong until he was already dead.
