I know some folks who have done that generational thing with Senior, Jr., III (the third) IV, etc. So, as you might expect they were a series of guys. And they pretty much alternated going by first name or second, like (fake names for anonymity) Fred J. Bagle, Sr., F. Joehowdy Bagle, Jr., Fred J. Bagle, III... who only had one daughter, and then a vasectomy. She goes by Joehowdy, but has decided to not have kids, but even if so, there will be no more Freds or Johowdys. She has no siblings, so none of that "named" after your uncle stuff ) which I've heard of a couple times. It's true!)

so a while ago I was watching this video of some british guys playing a trivia game. the question they got was "What is Paul McCartney's middle name?", to which the answer was "Paul".

these guys were BAFFLED. "WHAT?! Paul Paul McCartney? His parents called him Paul Paul McCartney??" as if they had never before heard of someone going by their middle name instead of their first (James Paul McCartney, referred to as Paul). this of course confused me, because I myself prefer to be addressed by my middle name and I know a LOT of other people who do too. I would have thought it was a bit, but they seemed so sincere. that got me thinking maybe it's a cultural thing; I'm in north america and these guys were, as I said, british, so maybe it's just weird over there?
