i do not think this is what the question means by "took you to a place you didn't think it would take you", but i never would have imagined when i started writing tear at me that it would lead me to become a hardcore brocal shipper

see, the thing is, i started writing tear at me from dad's perspective, but then realized pretty early on that i hadn't thought through bro's motivations enough. so i started a quick character study for bro that ended up as the perfect prayer, and after that i was hooked. could not get this terrible man and his terrible puppet out of my head. still can't. fuck i love them. and it's all thanks to my desire to write some dad/bro D/s, somehow

Ok pretty sure you haven’t been asked this before but like how old are the reset bros? I’m guessing Resetmare is like 5ish, and we know Dream is still a kid but like any idea on how old exactly? We talkin like around 10 or 12 or 14? Also this au is currently my lifeblood you are FEEDING us Kai nomnomnOMNOM

resetmare is like 6! little guy. he's already very clever and loves to read but still super young.

as for dream he's around the range of 13-15. so let's just say 14 for a middle ground. this is because i want him to feel more mature than babymare and know a lot of things, but still not enough to be deserving of all this responsibility, to the point where he can't just grab nightmare and run away from the village. because he still needs them to survive!

and i feel like the inability to escape this anxiety and paranoia inducing village just to survive is a lot of the reason why dream is the way he is. more anxious and more stressed. it's a lot of childhood trauma that is difficult to leave. it's realistic to a lot of domestic and childhood abuse with close knit siblings, the one more aware being the older one (feel free to correct me or confirm this lol,,, im a younger sibling)

i like to believe that if this was far more canon-centric, the apple incident would've happened before or around their 20s. but for this au, even younger!

i want dream to feel more like a dadbro than just a dad :p idk it's fun. makes it slightly worse for them LOL it also forgives dream a lot more for some of his neglect towards nightmare pre-apple incident, because he could've just been distracted and too focused on being a kid. (a lot of things can be said with that one line alone......)
