well...um...god!! It took me 23 hours and 52 minutes to draw this! what the fuck is this!? It felt like it was a maximum of 10 hours, but here it is!!! Ahem....okay, it doesn't matter. This is a trade with my Ukrainian friend, yes, she herself is shocked that I have these. The art depicts my Natasha, if you are my reader, you are already familiar with her, and next to her is the humanization of Ukraine from just this friend. I redesigned her character a little because she wasn't finished yet. Yes, yes, yes, this inscription on the ribbons of her wreath is my brilliant idea!! (I hope I won’t be imprisoned for such jokes and similar dirty tricks)

Later I will probably publish her drawing, if she finishes it at all, and, of course, if she doesn’t mind. she unfortunately, it’s not on the tumblr, and I’m not sure that it will appear😶😶😶

I feel like you don’t actually need to know all the intricacies of the history and relationship between Ukraine and Russia to assess who is right and who is wrong when it comes to the current war (I certainly don’t). A basic set of principles that should apply to every country:

invading another country is evil

raping/torturing/executing people (including children!!!) is evil

deporting children to your own country is evil

considering other cultures inferior and trying to erase them is evil

threatening a country (and its entire continent) with nuclear attacks is evil

Russia is doing exactly that. And it shouldn’t matter whether you like Tchaikovsky and Russian ballet, have Russian friends or never even heard of Ukraine before the war, your morals should not depend on how much you know about a country or identify with its people.

You cannot claim to oppose imperialism and ignore Central Asians and Eastern Europeans when they talk about their experinces with Russian imperialism. You cannot claim to support indigenous people but ignore the suffering of the indigenous people of Russia. You cannot claim to support refugees and victims of occupation and/or civil war and ignore Syrians, Georgians, Sudanese, Malians and more. And let’s be real, it cannot be just anti-Russian propaganda if so many people keep complaining at the same time, not just now but for decades and even centuries!

Btw, here are things that cannot always be described as “good” but are absolutely justified as a matter of self defense:

using weapons to defend your people against your invaders (and yes, that often includes the killing of soldiers)

feeling frustration and hatred towards your invaders and imagining a world where they get a reckoning

complaining about your invaders’ war crimes

demanding justice (not bloody revenge)

Oh no, Ukrainians are so mean ;( How dare they not want to be friends with those that hurt them. Unbelievable. And seeking prosperity and security through EU and NATO membership is russophobic too. [Sarcasm obviously]

Ukraine must win and Russia must lose, it’s that simple.

#this made me emotional #i remember two years ago so much #anxiously i followed the news two years ago #hoping for ukraine the war would not start #and i remember zes video #president tut #i think it was probably the first thing i really saw of him #besides some snippets in news and on social media and stuff #and i was so deeply impressed by that president who had the balls to stay and fight russia #im still deeply impressed #think about ze and his actions and words and so on whatever you want #agree with him or not #but we all can probably agree that Volodymyr zelenskyy is not only one of the bravest but also one of the best human beings on this world #and he deserves all the respect for what hes doing for two years #he worked every day. every freaking day he works as hard as possible to save his country and his people #sacrificing a lot and the ultimate thing - his family #he could have chosen the easy road and could now sit somewhere in Poland or the us or somewhere else #but he was courageous and stayed and said fuck you russia #and to this very way this bravery moves me and impresses me

You are right on every account in that tiktk reblog tags, except for one thing. Putin maybe didn't veto humanitarian corridors, but he sure did shell them. Several times.

Oh. I knew he'd sabotaged them somehow but I forgot how. Hard to keep track of all his war crimes. I didn't mean to imply that he was better for allowing one, just that he knew how to play the optics better, which is what I meant by "how is Biden WORSE at spinning a narrative than Putin". I'm sorry if I gave the impression that I was giving him any credit whatsoever.

Also I started out by saying that the previous Israeli governments colluded with the US and conceded to ceasefires so that they could pick civilians off one by one while the US played up their PR by playing the mediator. I meant that context to be carried into Putin's actions too but I realize that wasn't obvious. The man only tries to look like he's playing ball if it serves his agenda better.

Imperialists are all like that tbh. If you want to know the difference between a fascist and an imperialist, it's that the fascist thinks too small.

those past few days are really testing my patience with some of the takes and opinions i've seen on the internet and i'm so fucking done with all of this i just want to delete all my accounts from everywhere and live somewhere in the woods (as far away from russia as i can) and to never come in contact with another human being again
